We landed back in my room where I immediately sat down on my bed and thought about those three Romans I had captured. They had fought on no matter the odds against them. I was wondering how hard they would fight my charm, when I noticed Sara beside me, waiting for orders. " Oh, Sara. You may retire." She nodded gratefully and headed out the door. Soon after I fell asleep. Morning came. I got dressed and went downstairs to the dungeon, picking up Sara from kitchen duty along the way, in case I needed her magic. When I arrived at the dungeon the guard saluted me and let me past. Before I entered, though, I asked the guard which room the boy was in. "cell 3A, Milady" He said, pointing down a hallway. I thanked him and walked the way he had pointed. When I arrived at cell 3A, I ordered Sara to stay out of sight. I took a deep breath, and opened the steel door. Inside Dakota squinted at me, trying to see who it was. When he recognized me his face set in a snarl of defiance. I smiled dazzlingly, and his face lost a little of its fierceness. "Oh Dakota" I cooed softly, moving slowly towards him. "Don't you want to get out of here?" He nodded. He was almost in a trance now, not defying me at all. I completely closed the distance between us. "Let me show you the way out" I said and kissed him full on the lips. Some alarm bell went off in his head and he struggled a little at first, but became more and more relaxed as I deepend the kiss. I pulled away and unlocked his chains once I saw his irises rimmed with gold. He saw me looking at him and bowed his head. "My lady" He whispered and kissed my hand. I smiled gleefully. "You may go to your new post; left flank by the front. He nodded his head and respectfully walked out of the cell. I pumped my fist in a silent 'yes' Then I paused. The other two were girls. They would fight harder if they were being kissed by another girl, I speculated. Suddenly I grinned. "Sara!" I called. She came in a flash. "Yes, my lady." "What do you know about glamours?" Reyna I was sitting against the wall with my wrists chained to the wall. My door opened and Boy Lightning the traitor walked in. Oh, boy, like my day couldn't get worse. "What do you want!" I snarled at him. He didn't answer, but gazed at my chains sadly. Yeah, like he gave a crap. Suddenly he spoke. "I want you by my side, Reyna." I barked out a laugh. "No matter what happens, you and I are through traitor!" I spat at him and looked him dead in the eye. He cocked his head and I found I could not look away. What's more, I had forgotten why I was mad. And when he leaned in and kissed me, I forgot who I was. What was my name again? Reyna, that was it. I slowly started to remember. I had run away from the orphanage and had been attacked by monsters when Lady Katastrophe saved me. I had been training in her army ever since. I looked up and there was Lady Katastrophe herself looking down at me concern written all over her face. I frowned. What did I do to end up down here? I wondered. She saw my confusion and explained. "A traitorous child of Hecate cast a spell on you, then deserted. You tackled someone and tried to kill them with your dagger. You were about to be shot when Sara here noticed the blankness in your eyes. I had them haul you down here until I could remove the spell." My eyes widened "I am so sorry-" Lady Katastrophe put a finger to my lips before I could finish. I quieted down at once. "I am sure the spell is gone, but to avoid hard feelings I am putting you as leader of left flank." Kat Watching her believe the lie that I had spun and then watching her face light up when I told her I was putting her as leader made me feel a little guilty, but only for a second. I helped her up and she immediately kissed my hand, wanting forgivness. I smiled. "There's nothing to forgive." I told her. She started out the door. "Reyna," I tapped her shoulder, causing her to turn around. "Don't ask or tell anyone about the Hecate kid. Almost no one knows about that. Also no one will know you at left flank. Make them work hard and never stop fighting." She nodded "Of course, my Lady." She turned and walked out of the cell. "What time is it?" I asked Sara worriedly. She closed her eyes quickly and opened them just as quickly. "5 to noon" she said. I gasped. "Teleport me to the throne room doors! Now!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We arrived at the throne room doors at 4 to noon, do the fact that Sara was a little frightened at my tone that she couldn't concentrate for a minute. I composed myself and knocked twice like always and Luke opened one of the doors. Instantly he saw who it was and ushered me inside. He held a hand out to Sara. "This is for Lady Katastrophe and Lord Kronos only, Sara. Even I am getting kicked out." He said as he shut the door quietly. I turned my attention to my father who was accompanied by a small, dark haired boy with a skull ring on his finger and a black sword at his waist. Father saw my confused expression and explained. "This is Nico di Angelo, son of Hades and one of my spies in camp half blood and the surrounding world." He turned dead serious. "Katastrophe, I want you to bathe in the River Styx." I started. Even I knew that Greek fable. Invincible Achilleus. It hadn't stopped him from kicking the bucket when Paris shot an arrow and it hit Achilleus' heel, but until then it had worked pretty well. I was brought out of my thoughts by Lord Kronos. "Perseus Jackson will also be questing for invincibility to face me. If I do not have a mortal champion, and he challenges me, I will waste valuable time fighting him before I can get to the gods' thrones." He turned to me. "You are my mortal champion, Katastrophe. And you do not stand a chance against him without also having the Achilleus curse. Do you accept this reasoning and the quest?" I nodded affirmative. Father smiled. " I will move our troops toward Manhattan while you are bathing in the underworld. Let us begin." Nico fished out a six pack of cola from behind a tapestry, walked over to the sacrificial pit and snuffed the flame out. He opened two colas and poured them in the pit. "Mary Eddon, appear!" he started chanting in Ancient Greek. I gasped at my mother's name. I turned to Father for an explanation and he said three words, "For your blessing." "Oh" I acacknowledged and turned back to watch Death Boy summon the dead. He had a whole group of spirits there already. As I watched, one of them broke away from the group and drank the cola. It straightened and took the likeness of my dead mother. She looked at me. "Hello Kat" she whispered. I stepped up. Mother will you give me your blessing? It's for my protection." She regarded me for a while. Tears formed in my eyes as the memories of her sprang into my mind: pushing me on the swing, reading me stories, and always taking time out of her day to play with she died, or rather, Zeus killed her. Now here she was, a spirit. She nodded. "You still have emotions" she whispered like the wind. "I give you my blessing for no other reason." She turned and faded away. I wiped the weakness out of my eyes and turned to my father, still a bit shaken up. When do I leave?" I asked. Father motioned towards Nico. "Right now." Nico turned and sprinted towards me and pulled me into the shadows, where we disappeared.
