Chapter 10

"Ahhh!" Shizune yelled when she threw Sasuke away from her with her sword.

Gaara had filled her mind to the breaking point that she was blinded by it enough to want to get out of there. Her obstacle was this boy that wouldn't allow her to leave the room they were placed into. She didn't understand the meaning of this fight. She had already done enough with the others. The lives she could take were immense but the performance she had given them was forced and drawn out. She wanted Orochimaru to call off the fight before she killed them but he hadn't. He watched her lose herself in the fight only to contain her in a tube that made her sick. The happiness felt when she was released was short lived when she was force to fight again.

"Gaara… Gaara… Gaara…" She kept repeating with her swords at her sides and her hair covering her face.

"Gaara won't save you." Sasuke said when he somehow appeared right next to shoulder.

Shizune froze with her eyes wide at the remark he made and how close he was to her. That reaction only lasted a second, but she was too slow to block his sword infused with lightning. The sword landed at a diagonal across her chest to her lower abdomen. She fell to the floor in shock at how fast his sword was compared to her own. She stared at the dark black orbs before her as she fell to her knees.

"You are weak. You can't even put up a long enough fight with me. All you did was say his name. That won't bring him here." Sasuke held his sword to her neck. "He couldn't save you even if you wanted to be saved by him."

Shizune didn't feel that those last words were directed at her at all. Shizune prepared her crystal jutsu once more. Her body was covered in the purple crystal and enabled her to get up from the floor he had forced her on to. She didn't try to spend energy pushing away Gaara from her mind. She saw that pushing him away like she did before only distracted her up until this point. 'Byakugan' She used it to see her target more easily. He was a visual jutsu user as well and so she would attempt to avoid eye contact from now on. She closed her blue eye and let herself see out of only her Byakugan eye. Her eye patch was gone so she was able to see out of her eyes. She jumped away from Sasuke.

"He won't stop looking for me until he sees me." She said to him with a very serious face.

She was sure that he was going to get her no matter what. Even though she had thought he wouldn't come at first but he would. The side of him she saw was real, right? He would help her even though he knew she was strong and could handle herself?... She had to believe he would come for her even if it took long for him to find her. She hoped with all her heart he would come.

-Forest-

"How much farther?" Gaara asked as he followed behind Shino.

Shino stopped suddenly forcing everyone else to stop. He seemed to be looking around which made everyone else look too.

"My insects… They came into contact with new chakra. They are coming toward us." Shino said carefully.

With those words everyone took out their kunai and readied themselves for battle against whatever was coming for them. Gaara had a string of sand ready in front of him.

-Eastern Hideout-

"That will kill you." Sasuke said as soon as he activated his Chidori and combined it with his sword.

With his intense practice and hatred, he launched himself at her. Shizune set a wall in front of him which he cut through with ease. He faced the blade at her and went to strike her in her stomach. She was surprised that he could cut through her defense so easily, like it was butter. Her eyes fell on his sword that went straight for her without hesitation. With no time to grab her own sword she tried to block it with her own forearms which proved to be a mistake on her part but not a life threatening one since she jumped back. That motion saved her arms but there was still a large gash present on her forearms. She dropped her arms down at her sides with the blood running down the length of her arms and dripping from her fingertips.

"I will not die. I refuse to die." She said as her crystal encased her body attempting to stop the blood from her chest and forearm wounds.

She reached for her swords and the chains at the ends clicked against her crystal hands. Sasuke used his Chidori again and went after her with his sword. Her face was dotted with crystals allowing her to use her Byakugan eye. She tracked his movements again. His speed was great, but she was able to counter it while her eye was active. Their blades hit each other. Shizune's free blade went for his stomach but he blocked it with a kunai. She jumped away and went after him again, blocking his attacks. She began to use her technique that was special to her. Just like gentle fist she infused her own chakra into her swords and swung them at him. Though none of her swings hit him directly, they still injured him internally.

Sasuke did his seals for his fire jutsu but couldn't finish them. He coughed out blood which disturbed his jutsu. With an opening like that, Shizune launched herself at him to give the final blow. As she did, Kabuto injected her with a sedative. Her blade fell just a centimeter from Sasuke's throat and her crystal defense fell as well. Her body couldn't hold any sign of shock as her eyes closed and her body fell into Kabuto's arms. Sasuke fell to his knees and watched Kabuto smile at him as he held her.

"You were only able to give her two slashes. You're pathetic, you know? She is stronger than you." Kabuto said with a smile.

Kabuto picked up Shizune and held her close as he got up. He looked back at Sasuke who was still on the floor with blood still dripping from his lips.

"Gaara…" She mumbled under her breath while Kabuto took her back to the room she was in previously.

"Karin, go heal Sasuke and get the blue swords back here when you are done." He ordered her.

She grumbled at him for ordering her around, but secretly loved that she was going to see Sasuke.

-Forest-

"Gaara!"

A familiar voice called out to him. It was Shikamaru who called out to him.

"We came to find you guys. The Hokage's request." He said while sratching his head and looking at the floor.

The whole group sighed and put away their weapons. Temari went up to Shikamaru and patted him on the shoulder. He looked at her from the corner of his eye and sighed with a slight smile.

"We're close now." Shino said to them. They all headed in the direction Shino led them.

A/n: This took a lot longer than I thought. T-T But this chapter is done! I hope you all enjoyed! Uum, because I forgot which hideout was not on an island i put southern when I looked it up the closest one to what I wanted was the Eastern hideout so I changed it in the previous chapter ^-^;; Hehe. What I can't believe is that this story has half the views of my RE story. Bump up my views! ^-^
