Lacey: A darklighter-witch? What's that?

Chris: There should be an entry on them in the book, but there were never any real darklighter-witches in the Warren/Halliwell bloodline before, or there were, but they were evil.

Melinda: Apparently there is one now. (Melinda turns to Lacey, Penelope and Annie.) Before I forget, you can't tell anyone about us having powers or being magic or anything that you saw here today or will see in the future; it could be really hazardous. Now get to bed, you have school tomorrow.

(Lacey, Penelope and Annie leave the living room, but Lacey runs back and hides to the side of the doorway.)

Chris: (to Melinda) So Lacey knows she's a darklighter-witch. Do you think she's going to be evil?

Melinda: Well, she's been around us for 14 years and that means she's been surrounded a pretty hefty deal of good magic.

Chris: Yeah, but she could still change sides. Remember, she's never known of her magic until today.

Melinda: I could only hope that doesn't happen. Hopefully she never goes to The Underworld or else she might be lost in the sea of darklighters.

Chris: Maybe you should tell her about the darklighters.

Melinda: There's a lot we need to tell them and you're going to help me. Tomorrow after they get in from school, orb in. Hopefully tomorrow, they'll be able to learn a little more about whitelighters and maybe get their own. After all, they are three new charges.

Chris: Right, see you tomorrow.

(Chris orbs out.)

Melinda: (yawning) And speaking of bed let me hit the sack, busy day tomorrow.

(Melinda turns around and walks past Lacey, who then runs upstairs to the attic. She opens the book and begins flipping through the pages.)

[Time lapse. Lacey pokes up from the book, smiling.]

Lacey: Found it!

(She grabs the book from its stand and leaves the attic.)

[Cut to downstairs. Lacey walks into Annie's room, her face in the book.]

Lacey: Hey guys, did you know that darklighters are the evil counterparts of whitelighters, but crossbreeds can become…? (Lacey looks up.) What's wrong with you two? Why are you looking at me like that?

(Annie and Penelope get up from the bed and walk over to her.)

Penelope: We just learned that we were witches today. Doesn't that surprise you in the least?

Lacey: (shaking head) No. I've always felt like we were different from other people and now I know we are. It's actually more of a relief. Haven't you felt it too?

Penelope & Annie: Well, yeah I have.

Lacey: Then what are you being so strange about? We are what we are and we're going to have to stop these demons.

Penelope: Wait a minute, stop the demons? What do you mean?

Lacey: Well, mom mentioned it, but you probably didn't hear, so as I was flicking through the Book of Shadows, I came across this page and it told more about this whole "Charmed Ones" thing. Apparently, the Charmed Ones are a sisterhood of three witches who come from the Warren line of witches. We're known as "the most powerful witches ever to walk the Earth", and we're dedicated to protecting innocents and ridding the world of evil. Each Charmed One has one specific power inherited from our ancestor, Melinda Warren; the prophecy she said before being burned at the stake states that three powerful witches will be born in the Warren/Halliwell bloodline. The oldest has the power to move things with her mind, the middle sister can freeze time, and the youngest can see into the past, present, and future.

Annie: But wait a minute, we don't have those powers.

Lacey: (motioning from herself to her sisters) WE just discovered our powers and we could barely use them, so we might have them and we're not the first generation of Charmed Ones either.

Penelope & Annie: We're not?

Lacey: (shaking her head) Nope. The first generation of Charmed Ones was Grandma, Phoebe, and Prue; up until she died of course, and then Paige came and filled in for her. But wait, there's more: The magical bond between us is known as The Power of Three, and is said to be the strongest form of magic in the world. It's represented by the ancient symbol called the Triquetra.

Penelope: (pointing to the BoS) So that's what that symbol is?

Lacey: Yeah, the Triquetra indicates three-way unity and symbolizes our bond as sisters. So if I put this in modern terms, it's basically saying we're the protectors of the innocent and are known as The Charmed Ones. So what do ya say: wanna help me kick some demon butt? (Penelope and Annie look from one to the other, apprehensively. Lacey puts down the book.) Really guys, you just said that you've felt that you were different from other people too and as soon as we get a chance to help people because of our differences, you don't want to do it?

Penelope: It's not that we don't want to; it's just that…

Lacey: You don't know if you want to risk everything and have it changing. (Walking over to the window) Look guys there's a lot of danger out there. (She looks out the window, where a man is running down the street.) There's danger from our world and the world right below us (pointing down) in The Underworld. There are witches and other people out there that have the power to stop the demons and The Source of All Evil, but we have an opportunity to do something great. We can make a real difference; sure we may have to keep it hidden, but we can help these people and protect future generations. We have a charmed secret, a secret that can do some real good. Don't you wanna do some good in the world?

Annie: I do. I'm with you, Lace.

Penelope: So am I. Now hand me that book, we gotta learn as much as we can about the demons and everything.

Lacey: It's super late now and we do have school tomorrow, but how about afterschool? We head straight here, up in the attic and just read the book.

Annie: Well, you did find out things about darklighters and darklighter-witches, right? Why not tell it to us before we turn in?

Lacey: (walking over to the bed and sitting) Well, I learned that…
