"And why would you do that?" Dog Keeper said slowly. "What makes you think I'd just let this go?"
Nezumi didn't answer, choosing instead to watch the man in the chair who sweated under his gaze. Sion looked back and forth between the two, wondering if he should tell Dog Keeper the truth. What it was they were aiming for, and how the object they stole was in his possession. At that thought, Sion put a hand to where the object should be, only to find he was not wearing his coat. He spotted it across the room, on the floor by the table.
He tried to sit up, winching in pain as he did so, immediately drawing attention to himself.
"Sion, what do you think you are doing?" Dog Keeper cried, rushing forward. Sion resisted as she tried to push him back on the mattress. "You're not supposed to be getting up yet! You were bleeding to death not to many hours ago!"
"My coat," Sion said breathlessly, the pain growing steadily in his abdomen. "I need to check.."
"I have it Sion." Nezumi said suddenly, realizing what Sion was after. "I took it after you got injured. Just in case."
Sion breathed a sigh of relief and allowed Dog Keeper to push him back onto the bed. She brought him his coat, though he didn't need it now, and recovered him with a blanket to ward of the chill from outside.
She shot Nezumi another look. "What is it? That you took?"
Nezumi shrugged, "Nothing. It's not important."
"Right, which is why Sion was panicking when he realized he didn't have it. You cant fool me."
"It must be something from No.6." The man added helpfully. "We were told not to take anything from you, when we captured you. Normally he doesn't care."
"What did you steal, Sion." Dog Keeper asked, turning to the one she thought more likely to answer honestly.
"Hmm...?" Sion mumbled, having been almost asleep again. "What?"
"What did you steal?" She repeated, patiently.
"It's... "
"Our secret Sion. Remember?" Nezumi cut in suddenly. Dog Keeper glared at the Rat, who smirked at her ire.
"Right," Sion sighed sleepily. "Our secret. I 'member." He yawned. Then his face sharpened, thinking hard.
"Are you sure we can't tell Dog Keeper?"
Nezumi nodded, "Yep, its our secret. She doesn't need to know." He paused, then added, "She could be in danger if she knows. They'll come after her instead of us."
Sion sleep deprived, pain addled face shot to Dog Keepers at that. "...Right. Sorry Dog Keeper." He closed his eyes yet again.
She sighed angrily, turning back to Nezumi. "How many times do I have to tell you two that I can take care of myself?
"Don't know. How many times do I have to tell you that its none of your business?" Nezumi returned, turning back to the man to question him again.
Dog Keeper shoot to her feet angrily. "It is my business! Why don't you get it? I know I didn't used to care, but that's changed! I care now. About Sion.. And you too, sometimes."
Nezumi didn't answer. So she continued.
"I get that you don't like letting people close to you. I'm surprised you ever started to care about Sion. But when will you get that your not the only one that cares about him? I don't want you to get him into something that you two cant handle. So let me help."
Nezumi finally turned His face unreadable for a moment before he sighed, shaking his head.
"Cant you just let it go." He said, more of a statement then a question. She answered anyway.
"No. Never."
Sion watched both, though neither realized it. They thought he was asleep. He knew Dog Keeper wasn't going to give up, but Nezumi would die before he let Dog Keeper convince him to tell her anything. He understood her position and logic, Sion could tell, but didn't want her to know that she'd won. So Sion would give him a hand.
"We stole some of their information." he said, making both jump when they realized he wasn't asleep.
"That's a bit of an understatement, Sion." Nezumi Said simply. So he did want her to know. Everything.
"What do you mean information?" Dog Keeper asked, glancing between the two. The man in the chair stayed silent, trying not to draw attention to himself.
"We downloaded their entire data base network onto a flash drive. Any data on No.6, from it was founded to now, is in our possession."
Tada! now you all know what it was that Nezumi took in chapter 3. I thought about not telling you till next chapter, but I couldn't wait. it was really hard to write this chapter, my muse was kinda asleep after so long. I hope it was up to my normal standard!
Its nice to be back! just thought id let you all know(I just remembered) that im putting this story on a schedule! it will be updated on the first sunday of every month. at least for now. if you want it more often, just tell me.
