Again, another one from their childhood days. Lately, I've been feeling like writing about them back when they were not yet lovers *gets hanged for being such a self-indulgent fangirl* and Pink was still wary of Red and his kindness. I forgot how fun it was to write about Pink in her full cynical self—makes things a little bit more interesting.

No need for a context, really, since this is just a conversation between the two.

Waiting—

She stared into his eyes, a slight scowl on her face.

"Why do you keep chasing me?" she asked.

"Huh?" he blinked. "Who? Me?"

She nodded.

"Well, it's 'coz you keep on running away, what else?"

"I'm serious."

"Well, so am I."

She paused, closed her eyes, and sighed.

"What you're doing is absolutely stupid and futile. I'm an unstationary being… It means I do not linger at a place for far too long."

"Doggone it, Pink, I know what unstationary means… I'm not that stupid…"

"But you don't know what it connotes… Red, if you keep chasing after me, you're going to end up trapped in an endless pursuit, because I will not stop running… You're never going to catch up…"

"But haven't I already done exactly that?"

She sneered.

"Please. The only reason why you caught me now is because I stopped running and let you catch up. But later, I might not be that nice to you… What if I really did start running again, and this time, with no intention of stopping or looking back? What will you do then?"

"I'll still chase after you until I catch you!"

"You can't catch me. Do yourself a favor and live it down, Red. It's like playing tag with someone who will never stop running… You're only going to find yourself tired of it all in the end."

"I'd like to see me try!"

"I don't…"

"Huh?"

She sighed again. "I don't want to reach that point in time when I do make the mistake of turning back and seeing you gradually destroy yourself because of a stupid motive. Which is why I'm asking you to stop now…"

"Well, if I don't chase after you, what will you expect me to do?"

"There's value in waiting you know… Remember 'patience is a virtue'?"

"That's bogus! Waiting is for those who are too cowardice to take a step forward… How many people were able to get what they want from just sitting around while the rest of the world passed by them? None. That's 'cause they wait and the thing they're waiting for is also waiting… You know how stupid of a sin waiting is?"

"I've waited and you came… What you're talking about is 'expecting'. Two very different things."

"Either way, I don't have enough patience to do any of those…"

"You really want to fall down flat, don't you?"

"I have my reasons," he smiled.

She sighed. "Very well. Don't say I didn't warn you though."

They sat in silence.

"And when I do catch you?"

"If you catch me… Don't be too full of yourself…"

"Okay, whatever. If I catch you? Without having to beg you to stop… What then?"

"Then you've done something I'd honestly praise…"

"So it's a bet?"

"What bet?"

"If you run away and I catch you? Is that a bet?"

"There's no stopping your delusions, is there?"

"You're such a comedian."

She drew another long breath. "Fine. It's a bet… But it's a long-term bet. I don't plan on running anytime sooner…"

"And what's at stake?"

"Whatever floats your boat. You know I'm only humoring you, right? But if I win, then that's that. I just want to prove a point."

"And if I win?"

"Well, what do you want? "

He smiled.

"If I win you have to owe me your smile!"
