"Where did I drop it? How did I drop it? How could I be so stupid!"
I look into every crack and garbage dump down the streets I've walked in the morning. Ughh... Where could it have been? That's the only thing that reminds me of Kaito...
I wipe my blurry sight as I dig through another trash bin, hoping that it would be thrown out and not picked up by strangers. A painful sensation suddenly strikes my arm as I dig down into the bin. A piece of broken glass opens a fresh wound in my arm. Crap. I tear a piece of clothing from my shirt and tighten it around my arm. Even if this wound gets infected, I am not giving up.
Street after street, bin after bin. Nothing. I lift my head to realize, I am at an unfamiliar street. Could this get any worse?
I crouch down and bury my head in my bleeding and stinky arms.
What have I done wrong to deserve this? I was just walking to school like any other day. School... First-period math class. Eww... I was forcing myself to go back to class after being accused of cheating by the teacher. I've been holding my emotions behind that smile of mine. Is there anything wrong with that? Now that I am in this world, I might as well make something good out of it. I stayed with Kaito and pranked Conan but... Now, I think I've lost the most precious object I've received my entire life. I hate this me.
Something or someone suddenly taps my shoulders. I flinch and quickly set myself in a defense mode.
I turn to see a person under a black hoodie. His body structure tells me that it's a "him". He says, "What are you doing out here in the middle of the night?"
"Hey, don't steal my question. You seem more suspicious than I do."
I try to see who he is but I couldn't see his face clearly in the dark. Not to mention the tears in my eyes. He may be a stranger but there's something comforting about him that I can't put a finger on.
"Sigh. A young lady shouldn't be out in the dark alone. Let's get you home. Where do you live?"
"I am not going home and I am not telling you my address, stalker."
It's not like I qualify to call him a stalker, though.
There was an awkward silence for a moment.
"Can you leave now weirdo? I have my own business to do."
"What kind of business would you have in a dumpster?"
"None of your business."
"Of course it's not my business. I don't have any business in the dumpster."
Comforting my ass. This person is more of a pain in the ass.
"Go away!" I stand up and continue to dig in the dumpster.
He comes over and holds onto my arm.
"What are you doing, freak! Let me go!"
"What are you looking for with that injured arm of yours? You won't get anywhere at this rate."
"None of your business!"
"It will be my business if you are found dead tomorrow with me being the last witness."
With that said, he picks me up like a potato sack and throws me over his shoulders.
I don't remember being this light though. Maybe I've lost some weight after drinking milk every day after I came here.
"Kidnap-"
He makes an apple appear in his hands and stuff my mouth. Okay, now I'm a roasted pig.
He then carries me all the way to his house... To his house... House... HOUSE! CRAP! WHAT IS HE GOING TO DO TO ME! I'M GONNA LOSE MY VIRGINITY AT THIS POINT! OMG! NOOOO! I NEED TO SAVE MY VIRGINITY FOR KAITO AND KAITO ONLY!
I squirm with all my might to get out of his grasp but he was strong. I find a meaty part in his shoulders and take a bite. He yelps in pain and throws me on the floor of his house entrance.
Now that there's light, I can see his facial features clearly. He has a pair of teary blue eyes, messy brown hair, and fair skin. Hmmm... Familiar. Oh... He is one beautiful kidnapper. So beautiful that he is exactly like Kaito. O-M-G. It's Kaito. Wait. I need to hold in the excitement or else I would fall into a pool of blood again.
Kaito walks in to get the first aid kit and throws it at me.
"Clean the wound," he says before revealing his shoulders to inspect his wound.
He opens the med kit and sticks a large band-aid over the bite mark.
I can't take my eyes off of him. So handsome... So perfect... So caring...
"Hey! Stop staring into space and clean your bleeding wound."
I just keep staring at him. He slightly blushes and unwraps the cloth from my arms.
"It might hurt a little," he whispers as he wets the wound with hydrogen peroxide.
There's a bit of pain but Kaito's existence makes the pain go away. I know that this is a cringy sentence.
"Say, let me send you back home. It's getting dark. It will be unsafe for you to be out there all by yourself."
"Why, just why are you being so kind to me?"
After I tried to put you in a spot of less importance in my heart?
Kaito hesitates before answering, "maybe it's cause you remind me of... Somebody."
I look into his ocean blue eyes with curiosity.
"Who?"
"Let's just say that she's someone special." Kaito pulls something aqua blue from his pocket with a silver plate. "Shiro was the best kitten anybody could have ever had. However, cats are weaker and more fragile than humans. They already have a short enough life span. Shiro deserves someone better than me."
But there's no one in this world that is better than you. You are the best. A person better than you doesn't exist.
"I found this collar on my way home. It looks like she took it off. She probably found someone better already."
She didn't ba-Kaito.
"How is a kitten treading through filth better than what she had before?"
Kaito looks at me with a bit of shock in his eyes.
"Shiro is probably out there suffering because of the wild cats out there who desperate during the mating season. How could she possibly be safe?"
"Maybe she would find a trustworthy partner then..."
I'm angry. But I don't know exactly what I am angry about. Maybe it was Kaito letting me go. Maybe it was I can't tell him that I am Shiro. No. It isn't any of those. It's because the smile on Kaito's face is not what it used to be. He seems to be more on the negative side than the side he is used to. The side I'm used to. The side I loved so much that I am willing to sacrifice anything just to see it.
"Stop. Just stop. STOP ASSUMING STUFF!" I screamed.
I can feel the weight in my heart. I can feel the tightening of my throat. I can feel the seawater come down to form a salty river.
Kaito is in more shock than ever. After a moment, his features soften into a heartwarming smile.
"Thanks." He mutters.
I wipe the tears from my face and I give him the brightest smile I can make.
"Um... So, are you going home?"
"No." Why would I go home when I am home already? "D-do you mind if I stay over tonight?"
"Why would you want to stay at a stranger's house overnight? Are you nuts?"
"I ran away from home..." Although it's not all true but half true. I ran away from this home.
Kaito looks away and rubs the back of his neck. I can see his bright red ears.
"F-fine, then, Just tonight."
An embarrassed pervert looks so charming. How could he look so beautiful?
"Why don't you go take a shower first? You have gone through a lot of garbage so you stink now."
I lift up my arms to take a sniff. He's right. I stink. Stink like trash.
I pretend to not know, "Where's the bathroom?"
"Go into the living room and take a turn to the right."
"Thanks. Um... Do you have anything I can change into?"
Kaito, still red, went digging for a towel and a t-shirt of his.
"The bedroom is on the second floor, the first door you see. Go have a good night sleep. If you need anything, I'll be here in the living room."
"You're going to lend me your bed?"
"Are you going to sleep on the sofa?"
"... thank you..." I mumbled and rushed to the bathroom. I slam the door close behind me before slipping to the floor with a beating heart.
What's this feeling... It's different from when I first interacted with Kaito... I think I'm suffocating... So uncomfortable, I think I prefer nosebleeds...
After taking a shower, I step into Kaito's bedroom for the first time in human form. How could a guy ever smell so good... Kaito's smell. I am even in Kaito's oversized shirt! KYAAAAA! I jump into his bed without thinking and stuff my head into his pillow. I wrap myself in his blanket like sushi.
O

G
KAITO'S SMELL. COVERED. I THINK I AM GETTING TOOO HIGH...
Suddenly, a knock on the door breaks my thoughts.
"Come in!" I reply.
I try to get out of the blanket but no matter what I do, the blanket wouldn't budge.
I start to see the world in a slow-mo. Kaito slowly pushes the door open as I struggle and try to scream, don't.
Kaito stands in the doorway. In shock.
"What are you doing? Are you some kind of creep?"
"I... I'm just cold?"
Kaito comes over, gets hold of the edge of the blanket, and pulls. I come rolling out of the blanket and onto the floor. Kaito's eyes show hints of disgust.
"I was really just cold!" I try to explain while grabbing onto his legs.
"Out. Go sleep on the sofa."
"KAITO! HOW COULD YOU LET THIS SWEET KIT- GIRL SLEEP ON THE SOFA!"
Kaito pauses his action and looks at me in pure disgust. Before I know it, I was out of the front door.
Let me think. What did I do wrong? I sit outside of Kaito's door, boggling my brain for an answer.
I think I have an answer. He doesn't know that I know his name... F*CK! Now I'm gonna be a freak in his eyes! Nooooo! How did it end this way! I was gonna peacefully sleep then make him breakfast the next morning then leave! osivniowvavnalvbivbobeonpjrferoi AHHHHHHH! HOW DID IT END THIS WAY!
A creek from the front door catches my attention. Kaito is standing between the tiny crack of his front door.
"C-come back in. One night only."
I charge and I push open the front door! HORRAY! I'M BACK IN TOWN!
"Ouch!" Kaito, who was standing behind the door got hit. He reaches under the hair of his forehead and pulls the hair up to reveal the purple bruise.
"Kaito! Are you okay? You seem to be in pain! Need me to do anything? Need help? Yes! You need help! Wait! Lemme go and boil you an egg!"
I run into the kitchen and ransack the kitchen for a pot to boil an egg.
"Wait! Don't trash my kitchen!"
"It's okay Kaito! You will be fine in my hands!"
I come out of the kitchen with a hard-boiled egg wrapped in a paper towel.
Kaito is sitting on the sofa, covering his bruise with his hand.
I sit next to him and gently place the hot egg on his bruise, "Does it hurt? I'm sorry."
"Letting you back in doesn't mean that you could sleep in my bed. You can sleep on the sofa. I will get you a blanket later. By the way, are you a stalker or something? How did you know my name?"
"Uhhh... You see... I only went to school for a week and I got grounded for lying about something so I was at home most of the time. That was also part of the reason why I escaped from home. While I was in school, there were rumors within the girls that Kuroba Kaito was a big pervert who always peeked in the girl's locker room even when there's a lock. Since your name was the only one I knew, I felt safer staying overnight at your house. You don't mind, do you?"
You know what readers? I give myself a hundred for making stuff up.
"Oh, so that's why. Now that you know my name, it would only be fair if I knew yours right?"
"Yup! My name is Sh-"
Sh*t. What's my name? Shiro? Ao? Yuna? Or my actual name?
Kaito waits for an answer. An answer that I can't give him at this moment.
"My name is Yuna. Maki Yuna. Just call me Yuna."
"Nice to meet you, Yuna. Give me the egg. I can do it myself. You can sit here while I get you the blanket."
"Oh. Okay..." It seems like I've caused him a lot of trouble today... I... I feel like I'm a nuisance. He is living fine before I showed up. He still has that smile of his before I showed up. He-
Kaito interrupts my thoughts by shoving the blanket in my face.
"Stop thinking about stuff and get a good night sleep. Troubles are not going to solve itself if you think too hard about it."
"Ne, Kaito. Why did you let me back in the house?"
"Oh, I see. You are a masochist that likes to be thrown outdoors."
"No! Idiot!"
He looks at me with his blue eyes. He looks like he expects me to say something.
Babump- babump-
"Good night." I doubt that he was expecting me to say that but I quickly curl under the blanket Kaito gave me and buried my face in it. What's wrong with me. It is not like I haven't seen his eyes before.
"Oyasumi." Kaito replies before heading upstairs.
My arm is sore... I turn to my side to lean on the other side of my body. OH CRAP! I AM GOING TO FALL OFF THE SOFA! Or not. I wake up in shock to find myself in a familiar room on a bed. Okay. Let me get this straight. I fell asleep on the sofa and miraculously wake up on a bed. More specifically, Kaito's delicious smelling bed? Did I miss out on something in between?
Then, it struck me.
KAITO HAS CARRIED ME BACK TO HIS BED AND I DIDN'T EVEN WAKE UP TO FAKE SLEEP AND ENJOY THE MOMENT! HOW COULD I! HOLY MOLY! I HAVE JUST LOST THE CHANCE OF MY LIFE! Kaito's arms... Kaito's shoulders... They could have felt so comfy.
Wait. But that is not of importance right now. I need to grasp this once in a lifetime chance. To cook Kaito BREAKFAST! Hahahahaha!... What should I make him?
Eggs? Bacon? Toast? Steak? Maybe too much. Let me see what's in his fridge first.
I walk over to the kitchen and open the fridge. A cool breeze hits me on the face as I look into the ingredients.
There are several cans of Dr. Pepper (Soda), some yogurt, some lettuce, and some bananas. Okay. No meat and obviously no fish. Steak is out of the question. Doesn't he even store some kind of protein or grains? Where's bread? Was the sandwich he made me last time made from the last piece of expired bread? Uh... This is more challenging than I thought it would be. Hm... Let me see what is in the freezer section. Oh, there's the meat and there's the bacon. There's also some of his favorite flavored ice-cream. Chocolate. I realized something. Though he doesn't have much of a variety of fruits, vegetables, and dairy, he's got everything ranging from chocolate syrup to chocolate cakes.
I could make a banana smoothie with a bacon and lettuce salad. One healthy breakfast. This surely sounds better than Aoko's fried toast with sunny eggs that Kaito doesn't like.
I start by looking for a blender. I blended the bananas with the yogurt along with some honey I found in the cabinets. I poured the mixture into his cup. Then, it's time for the bacon. I found a pan and heated the frozen bacon strips. I washed the lettuce and diced both the lettuce and bacon up. Last but not least, dressing. Onto the dining table, it goes. Beautiful.
Now, for the surprise dessert. I start by dicing the banana and spreading it on top on the perfect scoop of ice cream. Then, I poured in a generous amount of chocolate syrup. I can see that he has a sweet tooth for all kinds of chocolate things. Last but not least, I stuck a mini Oreo on the very top.
You know readers, I can't be normal for over five minutes when Kaito is around. Time for some... Hehehehe...
I sneak up to his room and gently push open the wooden door. There's Kaito. Snuggle as a cat under his soft blankets. This sight reminds me of a baby cat. So cute. I tiptoe over to him and tug away a bit of his blanket to reveal his sleeping face. I crouch down next to his bed and stare... Photocopying every single sweet feature of his face into my brain.
Suddenly, his eyes flutter and open. He pulls his hand out from underneath the blankets and rubs his eyes.
"Ohayo, Kaito" I softly whisper.
As a general reflex, he mumbles a reply before he freaks out.
"WHY ARE YOU IN MY BEDROOM?!"
He frantically grabs his blanket and wraps it around himself as if I'm going to attack him. Maybe I will but that's not the problem now. I need to explain to him why I'm here. I need a reasonable explanation.
"I came to call you down for breakfast. I made you breakfast as a thank you for letting me stay last night."
He still has that suspicious look on him. To lower down his guard, I said "change and get down to eat" before leaving his room.
Kaito and I sit face to face at the dinner table. We look like a married couple, eating breakfast together.
"Not bad." He said.
Only not bad? Wait till I show you this.
I open his fridge and pull out the ice cream. His face flourishes with delight.
"THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS!"
I place the ice cream in front of him before looking to the clock on the wall.
Oh no. There are only five hours left of human time. Going back to Agasa's place would already take an hour or so... But if I ask Kaito for a pair of jeans and a shirt, how am I going to return it to him? Maybe leaving in kitten form would be more convenient. How should I spend these five hours? Maybe even my last five hours of seeing his face... Kaito, I'll miss you. Every part of you.
"Yuna, why aren't you eating?"
"Oh, uh... I ate before I called you down for breakfast."
"Then... Can you stop staring at me while I eat?"
"Okay!" I just keep staring.
"You know that you are getting creepy right?"
"No." I hold my chin with my hands and continue to stare. Nothing can stop me.
"Hey, Kaito, what happens if I disappear one day?"
The air suddenly starts to tense up.
"What do you mean by "disappear"?"
"I mean... like... "poof" disappear?"
Kaito stares at me for a moment. He takes the ice cream in front of him and makes it disappear. "You mean like this? Then, wouldn't all I have to do is make it appear?" After he finishes his sentence, he makes the ice cream appear in his other hand.
My vision starts to blur as my heart starts to feel fuzzy. Why do I have to cry in a time like this? I rub my eyes before I reply, "arigato..."
"Oi, oi, don't start crying all of sudden!" Kaito panics and quickly hands me some tissues.
In the middle of the tears, I give him one of my brightest smiles.
Relieved, he chuckles and says, "You sure are an amusing one. Who laughs when they cry?"
I point my finger at myself. Kaito and I burst into laughter.
I wish this moment could just stop in time. Do you think I'll be able to stop time?
Unfortunately, I don't have such ability. Kaito's laughter dies down and asks me, "Shouldn't you at least call home?"
"How about you walk me home?"
"Are you sure? Didn't you run away from home?"
"Kaito...?" I lean closer over to him, "You sound like you want me to stay."
"N-not one bit," he said as his ears turn bright red.
"Okay. I wonder how true that is. Lying sure is the first thing to becoming a thief." I smirk.
Kaito tenses up before fumbling over his words, "W-what do you mean?"
"Nothing. You don't have to be so cautious. All you need to know is that I mean no harm. No harm at all."
Okay. I can feel Kaito's glares trying to pierce my skin.
"Um... How about you bring me somewhere before I go home? I did make you a delicious breakfast after all"
Uninterested, Kaito still asks, "Where?"
"Hmm... Let's see..."
The last time I went on a date with Kaito, I was in kitten form. I should really take advantage of this time.
"How about the aquarium? I really want to see the fishes."
"No fish."
"Aww... Why not?" I ask. You know readers, getting his reaction out of this is just so entertaining.
"There's no why. If you want me to bring you somewhere, choose somewhere else before I bring you straight back home."
I actually wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel during the night where I can see and reach the stars but sadly, I only have five hours of human form left. Where can I go in five hours?
"Anywhere close?"
"How close?"
"No further than an hour?"
Kaito sinks into deep thoughts.
"How about..."
"The Tokyo Tree Tower?/ The Tokyo Tree Tower!" We said at the same time.
"Can we take a walk there and get lunch?"
"I have nothing to do anyway so why not."
"Oh yay! But there's one problem." I look down at the plain collared shirt that I have on. "Umm... I don't think I could go out with just your shirt on..."
Kaito immediately blushes and pulls out a handkerchief. He enlarges it and covers me with the cloth. When I come out of the lights again, I was in one cute lavender blouse with a lavender skirt. The skirt has imprints of a white cat.
For shoes, Kaito hands me a pair of sneakers. He is just so prepared for his job. He has storage of mostly all female items... Except for panties of course. The sneakers were also lavender.
"This outfit is so cute! Why didn't you give it to me earlier? Is it because you wanted me to wear one of your shirts?" I give him the smug look.
His face turns into a bright red before he turns to face the other way.
"I take that as a yes!" I happily skipped to the main door. "Hurry up Kaito! I wanna explore!"
"Baka! Don't jump like that!"
"Why? What wrong with skipping?"
He facepalms his red face and says nothing.
I think I get what he means. This little pervert is getting embarrassed again.
"Kaito, I never knew that you were so innocent. I thought you liked this view." I continued to skip to the door.
"Hey! Wait!"
Kaito hurries toward me and locks the door.
A flashback strikes me. The flashback of when I first went on a date to the pet shop with Kaito and we met Aoko in front of his door.
There Aoko stands. Confused and curious. She's probably here to call Kaito for breakfast and then hang out with him. HA! NOT A CHANCE! I'M THE ONE TO BE THE FEMALE LEAD TODAY! MUAHAHAHA! TAKE THAT! HE IS M- Okay, maybe not mine yet. YET!
"Kaito, who is this? Care to introduce?"
"Aoko, let me introduce you, Yuna."
"Maki Yuna. Nice to meet you. Aoko is Aoko."
"Nice to meet you, Aoko-chan! Kaito and I are heading to the Tokyo Tower. Wanna come along?"
Don't come. Don't come. I pray... DO NOT COME! I wonder why I even asked her to come in the first place.
"Aoko..."
Great. There goes that slow-mo again. Hurry up! Is it yes or no!
"has..."
Other stuff to do? Decided not to come? Going grocery shopping? What is it! This slow-mo is killing me...
"nothing to do. So Aoko will go! And Aoko would even get to know Yuna-chan better!"
"Sure. I was going to bring Yuna there with my bike (Motorcycle but Kaito calls it a bike) but now that there's three of us, let's walk."
Thanks, stupid mouth of mine. Kaito time is gone. Two person date just became a trio date. Ughh...
"Okay! But Aoko doesn't understand... Why did Yuna-chan come out of Kaito's house so early in the morning?"
Oh, so you can call him up so early in the morning and I can't? I'm sorry about my attitude but this girl who refers herself in a third person perspective is pissing me off...
"Are you guys in some sort of relationship?"
Okay. Adding on to what I said before, this kid is soooo dense. Can she not sense Kaito's feelings? But in a way, they are both dense. What to do with these dense idiots. Wait, why am I looking at this in a reader pov? I am a character now! I have the rights to interfere! Since they both dense, why don't I play the villain and steal Kaito from her? I shall challenge Akako! Hahahaha! I feel like I became ten times more evil.
Kaito says, "I promised to take her to visit the tower today so she came to wake me up."
"Oh, I see. Has Yuna-chan not seen the Tokyo Tower before? It's just a few stops by train."
"Uh... No. I don't live around here, not to mention, I never really had the chance."
"Oh! Let Aoko show you around!"
Thanks but I want Kaito and Kaito only.
"Sure!" Why did I say that? Enough being the nice guy! I'm supposed to be evil! EVIL! E-V-I-L!
*Twenty minutes later*
Does she ever stop? She's been talking nonstop to the point where she is even introducing where the garbage cans are. I can see why Kaito likes her. She is really energetic alright.
Arriving at the train station, we matched up with the rush hour. The trains are packed but we squeezed in anyways. The three of us are separated by the huge amount of people going in and out. At this point, I don't even know when to get off. I was even hoping for some relationship advancement between me and Kaito when I saw how packed the train is.
Suddenly a cold feeling sweeps up from the bottom of my skirt. I am being touched. In a very disgusting way. From behind, a warm puff of fishy breath passes by my ears.
Great. This situation is just great. Kaito is out of sight. The train is packed and there's this old man touching me. Could this get any worse? Maybe it could. I can feel his boner.
When I am about to throw a full kick behind me, his hands stop ruffling under my skirt. I turn around to look. Kaito is the one who caught his hand in the action. Unlike the Kaito I used to know, this one has a really scary face. His usual smile is replaced with a frown.
"What are you doing?" Asks Kaito in between his clenched teeth.
"I-I was accidentally pushed against this young lady!" He stutters as he tries his best to make up a reason for his actions.
The man realizes he is screwed because all the eyes in the train had their eyes on him. There are also whispers about him. The man realizes that he is in trouble so he forces out of Kaito's grip and tries to push his way through.
The crowd pushes him back in and some people even try to beat the sh*t out of him.
Kaito's reaction is different from the rest. He pulls out his silver gun from the inside of his sweater and aims it at the man. The crowd went quiet and the man's face went pale. He begs for mercy as Kaito pulls the trigger. A small explosion of confetti releases from the end of the gun.
A little sense of relief rush into the man's face. Kaito walks over to him and whispers something in his ear. The man's facial features tense up and become frightened as ever.
The train comes to a stop and Kaito grabs me by my hands and walks out the train door, leaving the people in the train in shock. After a certain distance, I said, "Kaito, can you let go now? My wrist is getting red..."
"Oh, sorry."
"Ne, Kaito, what did you say to the man?"
"Next time it would be rea- You don't need to know about it. Next time something like that happens, you should say something. You can't just let them have it their way."
I was going to kick him in his boner until you came in to stop him...
"Thank you but don't you think we are missing someone?"
"Aoko! We left her on the train!"
"It's not we, it's you. You dragged me out, remember? Anyway, why don't you text Aoko? We can wait for her here."
"Kay."
After that, we find a nearby bench and sit down to wait for Aoko to switch trains and come back.
