Chapter 10
Unexpected Encounter
"What!? No way! I'm not going to marry some stranger!" Karai shot up from her throne, sending a death glare at the pirates. "He's probably just a lazy, spoiled prince!"
"I heard he is very handsome, my lady," one of her maids spoke up.
"You shut up!" The angry princess pointed her finger at the maid. Once again turning back to the men in front of her. "I don't care how he looks. Father! Don't you dare give me away! I will not accep-"
"Silence!" King Saki snapped, startling everyone in the hall. He had thought this thoroughly and he was certain this plan would finally give him what he wanted for so long, even though it means giving his daughter away. The king got up from his seat and stood in front of the pirates, towering them with his height. "I accept."
"BUT FATHER!"
"Hush child! This is the chance. My chance to finally become the most powerful king in the world! Everyone will live under my command!" He declared, ignoring his frustrated daughter who was about to cry. Karai slumped back in her seat, crossing her arms while trying to hide her tears.
The pirates smirked at each other, knowing their victory was near.
"Once I get the crown. I will share my power with you, and you will serve me as my royal and honorable Foot soldiers."
The pirates bowed respectfully as the way of saying thank you. Once Saki let them stood, he asked.
"Now… tell me how this plan is going to work."
-.-.-.-.-.-
Prince Leonardo and his guards arrived at Thebe, one of Jupiter's kingdom and the smallest. The people in the kingdom were very poor, on the contrary, the princess here was not. Taking all the benefits for herself, she never cared about her people suffering. The princess was called Mona Lisa, a pretty but heartless lizard.
Leonardo sighed as he walked to the pure white castle's entrance. Princess Mona Lisa was one of the princesses his father introduced to him as his future wife, but without thinking too much, Leonardo refused. The princess was too arrogant and selfish for him to handle.
The reason why Leonardo accepted her invitation to Thebe was because the princess was desperate for help, saying it was about trading business without further information. Walking directly to the castle's garden full of different species of colorful flowers where the princess was waiting, he saw Mona Lisa sitting in a chair, drinking wine.
Leonardo suddenly regretted coming to Thebe, thinking it would be better if he had spent his time with Raphael. Just thinking about the pirate alone made his heart swell. I miss looking into those eyes… his sharp cheekbones… his plump lips… his perfect body… I wonder if he would ever let me touch his firm bu-
"Leonardo, my darling! You finally arrived!" Mona Lisa gasped when she saw Leonardo. She quickly got out of her chair, her long silver silk dress flowing behind her as she moved.
"Don't call me 'darling', I am not and will never be yours," the prince crossed his arms over his chest as he glared at her disgustingly while trying to control the heat rising up in his body, feeling a little embarrassed for thinking about Raphael in such ways.
The seductive princess smirked, handing her glass of wine to her servant then moving her hands to her well-formed breasts. She opened more of her dress, further exposing her cleavage. "Are you sure you don't want some of these?" She bit her lower up seductively, "you shouldn't have rejected me, Leonardo. I would have been your perfect wife, ruling Europa side by side with you…"
Leonardo shown no interest in the princess' body nor her seduction, but the temptation made him boil with anger. It was as if she thought he was an easy target to be lured in her trap. Leaning closer to Mona Lisa's ear, the prince whispered. "I doubt any prince would want to marry you. You are just an arrogant, selfish, spoiled bitch."
The female lizard gasped. Stunned by the harsh criticism, she bared her teeth as if she could spit venom. However, this was not what they were wanting to discuss in the first place, plus she knew what the prince said was true, she was just too proud to accept her flaws. So, she calmed herself down and cleared her throat. "Let us take our hard feelings aside and start talking business, shall we?"
"Agreed."
With one last glare at each other, they stared to exit the castle. The princess had her servants and guards followed her as they got on the carriage. Leonardo was surprised how she ignored every of her people who begged for food and shelter when they travelled through the village. The villagers scolded and criticized the princess from the outside of the carriage, throwing rotten fruits at it. Mona Lisa looked at them in disgust. "Pathetic."
"If you at least give a damn about your people, they wouldn't be so angry with you." Leonardo commented as they made their way to the agricultural area of Thebe. "This place is sad and miserable."
"It's their fault they don't make enough food for themselves."
"How could they have enough food if you took most of it for yourself?"
Mona Lisa smirked at the comment. "Well, this is the help I wanted to ask for in the first place. I couldn't provide them enough food, so… I want your kingdom to provide my kingdom more fruits and vegetables. It's a win-win, you get our money, and my people are satisfied. Done."
Leonardo's jaw dropped. He was starting to boil with anger. "Are you serious!? I have my own people to take care of too!"
"You have plenty of supplies to share! Don't be so selfish!" The princess argued.
"SELFISH?" Leonardo yelled, throwing his hands in the air. "Okay, that's it, I'm out! Stop the carriage!"
As fast as he could, Leonardo jumped off the carriage the second it stopped moving. They were almost out of the village as the prince could see the ocean. Good, the faster he got back to his ship, the faster he could avoid seeing the princess. He could hear the princess calling his name behind him. "Come back here, I order you!"
Leonardo and his guards ignored the call and continued making their way to their ship, but the princess ran after them, grabbing Leonardo's arms and yanking him around. He yelped with surprise. "Hey! What are you d-"
"LISTEN TO ME YOU-"
Before she could finish her sentence, a loud crash in a good-looking restaurant beside them was heard. What surprised them more was when a young mutant ran out of the restaurant and away from a cat-like mutant who appeared to be the owner.
"COME BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE BRAT!" The mutant yelled at the kid. Once he saw Leonardo and Mona Lisa, his face went pale. "P-Prince Leonardo…"
Mona Lisa felt offended as this villager was afraid of a prince from another kingdom rather than the princess of his own kingdom, but she let Leonardo handled the situation since she never handled one, but to avoid being completely useless, she told Leonardo what she knows about this villager, whispering in his ear. "That's Old Hob. I usually pay him to provide dinner for us royalties. His food is quite nice."
Leonardo looked at the kid who was now hiding behind him. The kid was a turtle, now hiding his face in his hands as he shook with fear. The poor turtle was quite thin and was wearing only old and tattered clothes. The prince glared at the cat mutant. "Would you mind explaining what happened?"
"U-Uh… nothing serious, y-your majesty… my uh—my son, just broke my restaurant's glass so I tried t-to um… teach him a lesson…"
"I'm not your son, you jerk!" The young turtle shouted from behind the prince.
"Well, this is interesting. Guards! Seize this man." In seconds, Old Hob was struggling in the royal guards' hold. The prince approached the mutant. "If you don't mind, I would like to check your so-called restaurant."
The mutant's face was even paler than before, now almost as white as a sheet. Leonardo entered the restaurant, it was clean and well-decorated, unlike other buildings in this kingdom. Leonardo assumed it was because of the money from the princess. There were only a few customers inside who were also shocked about the situation earlier. Everything seemed to be normal until the prince entered the kitchen. He was shocked to find around dozens of little kids and teens cleaning dishes and cooking food. They were all dressed poorly like the turtle outside.
Leonardo charged the Old Hob for using children as slaves.
"I never knew how bad my kingdom has been." Mona Lisa said to the prince who was just finished commanding Mona Lisa's guards to take the cat away. She regretted every support she gave to Old Hob. "Using children as slaves… this is unforgivable."
"Finally, you realize." The prince said with boredom.
The princess let out a loud sigh. "Alright, I promise to take a better care for my kingdom"
Leonardo smiled and patted the princess' shoulder as an encouragement. He then looked at the former slaves who were now celebrating their freedom.
"And don't worry about the kids, I will find a place for them to live."
"Excellent."
While Leonardo was sending one last smile and saying goodbye to the kids, his eyes laid once more on the young turtle who was the only one being quiet, standing apart from the crowd. The turtle had freckles on his chubby cheeks and bright blue eyes. The prince's heart skipped a beat once he realized who it might be.
