Chapter 10: Ms. Riley's P.O.V

I walk into the last period of math. I am 5 minutes early so I excepted nobody to be there. But when I walk in, there is Percy Jackson (wait, is he actually early?!) and a blonde girl that I never seen before. She comes up to me unexpectedly and says, "Hello, my name is Annabeth Chase. The girlfriend of Percy Jackson. I'm new here."

I smile, she seems like a nice girl. And now I understand why Percy Jackson was early for once. "Nice to meet you, I teach math class as you can see. You can call me Ms. Riley."

About 4 minutes later the bell rings and the students fill in, scrambling to sit close to their friends.

"There is a new student today. Please come up front." I say, smiling at Annabeth.

"Hi my name is Annabeth Chase. I'm from San Francisco, California and I'm the girlfriend of Percy Jackson." Annabeth says and sits back down.

The girls glare at her, angry at her for stealing their public eye candy. I roll my eyes. Ah teenage drama. I remember my days.

"Now let's get started!" I say, clapping my hands for attention of the chattering high-schoolers.

I write the problem and the answer up on the board.

"Can somebody tell me how I got this answer?" I ask to the class. Not to be mean or anything but I was really surprised when Annabeth raised her hand.

"Yes Annabeth?" I ask, looking at her.

"Ummmmm, Ms. Riley, the answer is not correct." Annabeth says.

"What do you know, dumb blonde." (Sorry if I offended those awesome blondes out there! Just for the sake of this chapter... Thanks!) Cecile sneers.

"Cecile." I warn, giving her a glare. Even though she might be rich, it is not a excuse for her improper manners. She stares back before giving up, knowing that she can be suspended with a snap of my fingers.

Getting back to the problem, I check my neatly written work on the board. I frown, not knowing what is wrong. I check and recheck, but the answer comes out the same. Giving up, I get my calculator and type in the needed numbers and symbols. My eyes widen in surprise. Huh, I was wrong. I feel my cheeks reddening in embarrassment. I know that I'm also a human and I can make mistakes, but a math teacher with a wrong answer is a bit of a embarrassment.

"Thank you for telling me, Annabeth." I say, while writing the correct answer own. If she hadn't said anything, I would have teached the class all the wrong things.

"Nerd with no life." I hear Cecile whispering to her close friend, Maria. I sigh at her immatureness. When is she going to grow up?

"That's my Wise Girl." Percy whispers to Annabeth, who is sitting next to each other.

"That's my Seaweed Brain." Annabeth replies, jokingly. She pats his cheek before looking at the board.

As I continue my lesson, I learn that Annabeth is ADHD and dyslexic but she is always the first to raise her hand on every problem. I've never seen a girl like her. Is she some kind of... genius?

The bell rings and all the students runs out, excited for lunch. I walk out the door, to go to a brief lunch meeting when I see Percy and Annabeth. I edge closer and listen to what they were talking about. I know it is rude but I can't help my old habits breaking in. Even though I am pretty close to them I can only catch a few words.

"I missed you Wise Girl. When you were in California I kept having nightmares and I was worried sick about you. I couldn't do anything right." Percy says smiling down at her.

"I missed you too Seaweed Brain. What will you without me?" Annabeth says, jokingly but there is a serious look in her eyes.

"Nothing." Percy whispers, heartbreakingly honest. He leans in for a kiss. His lips met hers. The kiss was chaste but sweet.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

As the hold hands and walked out of my sight. I smile slightly, thinking back to the old days. As their backs get smaller and smaller I whisper to myself,

"Ah, young love."
