Chapter 10: New Law

It was the next day and Penelope was having her fur brushed by Isabella. "I'm so nervous, Izzy. What if this doesn't work?" asked Penelope.

"Your highness, whatever you do, it'll be your choice and, as your friend, I know it will be a good choice," replied Isabella.

Princess Penelope took a shaky breath and said, "All right, let's do this." Isabella picked up the ceremonial pillow carrying the ceremonial sword and followed Penelope out to the courtyard where all of the musketeers were assembled. Perry, Pinky, and Doofy were gathered on a platform so that they could be dubbed musketeers honorably and officially. Captain Enigma had been dishonorably discharged from his duty and was due for beheading later that week. Steve, the chameleon, had been given a medal for being such a good aid to the three musketeers and he beamed proudly as he watched his masters on the platform.

Penelope stood in front of the three in her finest dress and makeup. It made Perry's heart heavy that they could not be legally together. They both gave each other a gentle smile. Penelope removed the ceremonial sword from its pillow and said, "Please kneel." The three bowed as low as they could and removed their hats in respect. "In gratitude for saving France, I hereby dub thee, Perry, Pinky, and Doofy, all royal musketeers!" The three friends smiled at each other and the crowd cheered. Penelope raised a hand for silence. It got really quiet.

Penelope spoke: "Furthermore, there have been some things that have been brought to my attention that need fixing. While it is important that we be balanced in our respective systems, it is not fair that these systems also serve as a barrier. There are people from different levels of my kingdom who can become good friends... or even fall in love. The law does not allow for the mingling of blood between the levels, but I want this to change. Therefore, the different levels may interact freely and with respect for one another because we are all one people. We are the citizens of France! Be friends with whomever you choose and... marry the one who your heart falls in love with, because there is no law restricting marriage anymore. With this new law, we are a united and equal France." She wove her hand toward the trumpeters and they began playing the national anthem. She and her people broke out into song and lovers embraced in great joy, for France was now free to be with whomever they chose.

Perry hugged Penelope, the Silver Viper came onto the platform and hugged tightly onto Doofy, and Phineas came charging onto the stage and picked Isabella right off her feet. They spun and embraced tightly. It was a good day.

Perry got his friends together and said, "What do you say, everybody? All for one..."

"And one for all!" the rest of the musketeers replied. They kept singing the anthem and there were many happy tears.

Terry the turtle troubadour gained the attention of the audience one last time. "Bravo, my friends! Ah, our three heroes have finally made their dreams come true. I think this calls for one more song!"

The musketeers (including the new ones, Perry, Pinky, and Doofy) sang the song: "All for one, hey! All for one and one for all. Musketeers sing all for one and one for all and all for one and one for all and all for one and all!" They took off their hats and made sweeping bows.

Shortly after the party had ended, there was a triple marriage followed by an alarm the next day. Phineas married Isabella, Doofy married the Silver Viper, and Perry married Penelope. Perry became her consort and took over matters of the kingdom when she was unable to. The alarm on the day following the wedding, however, was that of the Enigma escaping. No one knew where he went, but they assumed that he might return with some revenge scheme, but the three musketeers had dealt with him before and they would be ready, should he return. Text appeared on the screen reading "The End."

The music played as the credits rolled, but the music was softened into the background as Perry and Doofenshmirtz re-emerged on stage. Perry chattered at the evil scientist who went "Hm? Oh, right." Doofenshmirtz took out his cards and read: "We hope you enjoyed this daring adventure of ours. It took a lot of work and we can't thank you all enough for the effort you all put into it."

"Yes, so thank you very much for watching and we hope to do another take on a classic real soon," said Perry. Shortly after he said this, there was a knock at the door. Perry and Penelope both went into platypus mode just as the door became unlocked from a key in Vanessa's hand. Vanessa came in, along with Candace.

"Uh, Dad? What are you up to?" asked Vanessa.

"Oh, you know, just a little movie. I thought if we could make something good, then it wouldn't be too hard to make something evil," replied Doofenshmirtz.

"What are you two doing here? And why is Perry in a suit?" asked Candace. Right, she hasn't been reminded of what happened.

"Well, we do have experience in the field of cinematography," replied Ferb.

"And I think Perry looks cute in a suit," said Isabella, petting Perry fondly. Perry chattered his usual chatter and it seemed like an ordinary day.

Candace and Vanessa both took a seat in the theater-style chairs set up in Doofenshmirtz's lab. The projector was still playing the credits to the movie. "Hey, we ought to get more people to see this. I'm sure our friends and family would love this!" said Phineas.

"What is it anyway?" asked Candace.

"We made a rendition of The Three Musketeers," replied Doofenshmirtz.

"Really? Mon- This guy I know is really into it. I'll call my friends and ask them to come over," said Vanessa.

Candace sighed. "Well, this isn't going to be bust-worthy anyway, so I might as well call Mom and Dad and some of my friends," she said.

"I'll call the Fireside girls. We might even be able to turn this into a charity event for the whole town," said Isabella.

"Great! You start making those calls while Ferb and I start constructing a bigger theater," said Phineas. "That is, if you don't mind, Dr. D?"

"No, not at all. Knock yourselves out. You know, I did build a theater of my own in here at one point. It was on a day like any other-" Doofenshmirtz began. Perry rolled his eyes. Penelope chattered to get his attention and when he looked at her, she snuggled closer to him. Their kids were asleep under the chair they were sharing and they finally had some semblance of alone time. Whatever adventure laid in store for them in the future, at least they would always have each other.

Thanks for reading, guys, I hope you enjoyed it :) I am intending on doing another crossover with these characters in "The Agents of the Opera" (but I may already have mentioned that). If there are any other stories you think could use a Phineas and Ferb spin, let me know your ideas in the reviews! Thanks to my reviewers who gave the story so much love and attention: JustAnotherLoneWolf, Platyfan 101 (who also helped me decide on a cast when I was stuck, thanks!), a guest reviewer named Anonymous, waffleman1314-AJ ThaPlatypus, and ficklepickle7. To the person who favorited this story, Keyblade132, thank you! I'm glad you found this story enjoyable enough to be considered one of your favorites! If the creators of Phineas and Ferb ever read this (unlikely, but just in case) thanks for making such an awesome and original series! I know I never would have come up with a "suave, semi-aquatic personification of unstoppable, dynamic fury" a.k.a. a teal platypus a.k.a. Perry :) Thanks to Disney for giving us an awesome series and this really good movie with one of cartoon's best teams of all time: Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. And thanks to the most important person in the world, someone who is very near and dear to my heart: you :D If you guys haven't already checked out The Agents series, I encourage you to check it out. The first one's "The Agents from Down Under" and it progresses from there. Also, I am co-writing something with waffleman1314-AJ ThaPlatypus called "Guilty Innocents." It's on my profile and, while not part of the series, it does have some of the same characters we all know and love. Thanks again for reading. If you'd like to leave a review, please do so since most all reviews I receive put a smile on my face. I am very appreciative to have people out there who like what I write. I hope you all stay with me for future stories. There is not enough thanks in the world for you guys, so thanks again. Until next time, laterz ;)
