"Mama said a bad word!"
Asami sighed and rolled her eyes as Korra chuckled.
"Yes, she did," Korra said as she poked Asami playfully. "But we'll let this one slide for now."
Shila nodded and ran to the door. Korra chuckled and Asami sighed. They made their way into the living room as Shila scurried to the door.
She flung it open and Tonraq scooped her up in his arms. Shila giggled as he spun her around. Tonraq set her down and Senna hugged her. Korra hugged her father and he kissed her forehead.
"Hey Sweetie," Senna said as she pecked Korra's cheek. She tucked some hair behind Shila's ear. "How's my little girl?"
"Good, but Mama said a bad word. Mommy said we could forgive her though."
Asami sighed and rested a hand on her hip. Senna chuckled and kissed Asami's cheek.
"Mommy is right Shila," Senna said. "I forgive Granpop when he says a bad word."
"Knock knock," A voice called out from the doorway.
Asami smiled and stepped forward. "Mom! Dad!"
Hiroshi and Wei came in and hugged Asami. Hiroshi and Tonraq shook hands as Wei and Senna hugged.
"Grandma! Grandpa!" Shila said excitedly.
Wei laughed and scooped up the little girl. Hiroshi laughed and kissed Shila on her forehead.
Korra smiled brightly and slipped an arm around Asami's waist.
"I'm glad to see you doing so well," Hiroshi said as he place a hand on Korra's shoulder.
"Thank you, sir, I feel much better." The detective said with a smile.
"We have news!" Shila interrupted excitedly. "Mommy and Mama said they're gonna get married!"
Korra and Asami stared at Shila, dumbstruck, as their parents gaped at them. Korra shifted uncomfortably and Asami cleared her throat nervously.
"Why don't we sit down for dinner," Asami said softly. "I think Korra and I have some explaining to do."
"So, is Shila telling the truth?" Wei asked as Asami poured her wine.
"Yes, I asked Asami and she said yes," Korra said decidedly. "She's spent the last couple of weeks moving her stuff in here."
"So, this is serious?" Senna asked cautiously. "You're finally settling down and starting a family properly?"
"Yes."
Tonraq wiped a tear from his eye and Senna smiled. "Sweetie, we're so happy for you!"
Korra smiled happily. Asami bit her lip and glanced at her parents.
"Mom, Dad, what do you think?" The teacher asked nervously.
Wei looked at Hiroshi and frowned. Hiroshi shook his head slowly. Asami felt her heart drop. Her mother had always been very supportive, but she had thought her father came around to her relationship with Korra.
Tonraq and Senna looked at each other nervously and Korra grit her teeth at the devastation on Asami's face.
"Are Grandpa and Grandma mad?" Shila asked Korra quietly. Korra shushed her as Hiroshi sighed.
"If you want a family with these two, Asami, things need to change," Hiroshi said.
"Dad?" Asami asked as she sank into her chair.
Wei frowned and place a hand on Hiroshi's arm. "Honey, don't. Be happy for her."
"Sweetie, just hear me out," Hiroshi said to Wei. He turned back to Asami. "This is a nice apartment, but this is no place to raise a family. Shila needs more room, what is she wants to start a sport or something?"
Asami clasped her hand over mouth and Hiroshi smiled. Wei chuckled and took Hiroshi's hand. Korra grinned and took Asami's hand. Shila clapped excitedly. Tonraq and Senna sighed in relief.
"So, what else needs to change?" Korra's asked curiously.
Hiroshi leaned back in his chair and took a sip of his wine. "Well, Shila is already in the best school in the city, but I think we can help ease the financial strain on you, Korra. Asami does come from money and my family wants for nothing."
"I get a bigger room?" The little girl asked excitedly.
Asami chuckled and leaned over to pinch Shila's cheek. "If that's what you want then you'll have it."
Senna grinned and rested her head on Tonraq's shoulder. "Oh, honey, our little girl is finally deciding to start complete our family."
"Asami is a good woman and has already proven herself a great mother."
"I had a good example," Asami said as she smiled at Wei.
"That you did," Hiroshi said with a smile. "Now, let's celebrate our two families becoming one."
Asami wiped a tear from her face as everyone raised a glass in their honor.
"Dad, are you really ok with this?" Asami asked as Hiroshi followed her into the kitchen.
"Sweetie, I'm sorry about how I reacted earlier. If you're really happy with Korra than I'm happy. All I want is your happiness," Hiroshi said quietly. "I've never seen anyone make you as happy as Korra and Shila do."
Asami smiled tearfully as her father pulled her into a hug. Hiroshi smiled and kissed his daughter's forehead.
"I'm sorry I had trouble accepting you," Hiroshi said gently.
"Dad, it's all forgiven," Asami said as she tugged his mustache. "I love you."
"I love you, too, sweetie," Hiroshi with a grin.
"So, you're dad thinks we need to move?" Korra asked as she shut the front door.
Asami shrugged. "He just wants us to have more space. Also, I think he was hinting at more children. I know he wanted a big family."
"Why didn't your parents have more children?" Korra asked as she locked the door.
"The doctors said another child would endanger my mom's life. She had enough trouble with me."
"Oh, wow, so you really are the miracle child," The detective remarked as she reached for her lover.
The teacher chuckled. "Don't get my dad started or he'll go on about how I'm wasting my engineering prowess by teaching small children."
The women chuckled as Asami slipped her arms around Korra's neck. They kissed tenderly and Asami pulled back to rest her forehead on Korra's.
"I'm so glad you're safe," Asami whispered. "Don't scare me like that again."
"Asami, it's been over a week," Korra said with a heavy sigh. "But, I promise, I'll be smarter."
"Thank you."
Shila stood in the doorway to the living room and smiled. Naga sat down next to her and nosed her. Shila pet her and grinned.
"See? I told you Mommy and Mama would be happy."
Naga nuzzled against the girl. Shila glanced up as Korra and Asami turned to her.
"Alright, baby, it's time for you to go to bed," Korra said.
"Go get changed and we'll be in to read you a bedtime story," Asami said. "We love you, sweetheart."
"I love you both, too!' Shila said as she turned to go to the bathroom.
Naga moved to her bed and plopped down while Korra turned to Asami and cupped her face.
"After we put Shila to bed, I was hoping maybe we could...well...spend some time together," The dective whispered slyly.
Asami arched a dark brow and pulled Korra in by her tie. "I like the way you think, Detective."
Korra smirked as Asami bent down slightly to capture her lips.
