CHPT 8
My eyes shot open.
My curtains were blowing in the wind across the room, sending a cold gust to make the room feel below freezing.
The sun was shining outside of my windows and my mood was automatically lifted. My mind went in to a blissful piece and I could feel myself relax back into my dream state once more.
But fate decided to be cruel today as a few seconds after I had finally fallen asleep, my clock decided to switch itself on.
My alarm clock blared right next to my head, making my head pound. I looked over to my table in a failed attempt to switch the noise off when I caught the time which read 6:30 meaning I had over an hour and a half to get ready for school. I lazily flopped my legs over the side of my bed and hissed as my warm feet made contact with the frozen floor boards beneath me.
I finally managed to make it to my bathroom and started to tedious task of brushing my teeth and putting on my eye liner. My hair I decided to leave down but I added a few curls making my hair look wavy and cute, but not like in a impress someone way, just something to make me look a little different. Yeah, whatever you say wee one.
I rolled my eyes at my inner wolf. Once I had located my leather bracelets and rubber straps and placed them into my wrists, I headed out of the bathroom and started to rummage through my closet. I decided to wear my white skinny jeans, black tank top and grey waist coat. The waist coat gave my chest a bit of a boost up but also showed my flat stomach, and my skinny jeans were just naturally comfortable to wear.
I checked myself in the mirror and decided that I didn't look half bad, and because the weather had taken a turn and the sun decided to greet us with warm weather I didn't have to wear a coat or jacket in school, which just allowed me to show off my outfit better.
I skipped school on Tuesday and Wednesday giving the excuse that I didn't feel well. Which to be honest wasn't far from the truth. I was too tired to get out of bed and I just slept the time away as I regained my strength ready for when I did get back.
Since I had returned back from Derek's, I hadn't seen my aunt Lauren at all, so I didn't have a chance to ask about dinner tonight.
I know that since we had moved I haven't actually talked to her properly, but life has always been that way, especially with us.
As soon as I grabbed my bag I started to make my way downstairs and towards the kitchen where I could hear my aunt singing some old song of hers. "And it's like a heat wave, tearing me apart….sometimes I stare in space, tears all over my face. Don't get it don't understand it, but I have never felt like this before" at this point I had opened the kitchen door and walked in, bracing myself for the worst, as soon as I walked in Lauren looked up and just stared at me before dashing over and hugging me as strong as she could. Ooo-kay.
"Erm, Aunt Lauren you can let go now." She did.
After taking a step back, I realized that this might be the only time to ask her.
"Hey Aunt Lauren?" she turned her back to me and started to wipe the counter down, like usual I swear that woman doesn't stop moving.
"Yes dear?" Well, here it goes.
"Kit…our next door neighbor? invited us to dinner at theirs tonight. And I guess I was wondering if you would like to go?" I stood their silently just waiting for her response.
Her back stiffened at the mention of his name, and she just stood their without responding to me.
"Erm, Aunt Lauren? Are you ok?" she slowly started to turn back towards me and gave nothing away of what she was thinking.
"Do you mean kit, as in Christopher Bea?"
"Yes, he invited us over so we could get to know each other better. They do seem really nice and I know his kids from school, it might help us get to know each other better"
Play the guilt card, it does tend to work.
"Well…I guess it would be alright, you haven't really left me a lot of time to think about it have you? But yes, I guess that it would be nice" I let out a sigh of relief and quickly grabbed an orange off the side with my lunch bag.
"Well I better be heading out to school, but I will see you later" and with one last look at her face I headed out towards the front door.
I grabbed my grey beanie off the coat hanger and placed it on my head; I tucked my hair in side and left my bangs to hang out before leaving the house.
The walk to the school was the same as always, traffic would be rushing past as people made their way to work and a few kids would be messing around as they headed towards the school.
The sun beat down and left a thin sheen of sweat on my arms and kept me warm, even the wind was warm today. God I love this weather.
Soon the school gates caught my eye up ahead and within minutes I was at the school and heading through the front doors towards my first lesson of the day.
All around me I could hear whispers that I chose to ignore, to be honest I didn't really care for what people thought about others or even me for that matter. People just really needed to get a life in my opinion.
Throughout my lessons teachers would tell me how I would need to catch up with my work and blah blah blah. I knew the answers anyway, things like this were just simple for me, I was a natural genius but out of my family I had no idea were I had gotten it from. Oh well.
As the day rolled towards lunchtime I realized that I still hadn't seen or even caught a glimpse of Tori, Simon and Derek. the supernatural duo.
Not long ago I had found out that they were all supernatural's.
So now I guess to me Tori was a witch literally and metaphorically speaking. Lol.
But I needed to talk to them about tonight so I actually new what time me and my aunt could go round.
I stepped out of the school and headed towards the forest edge like I do every lunch time, I turned around to look behind me just to make sure no straying eyes were on me when I did jump.
After making sure I was free to go, I placed my hands on to the cold metal chains of the fence and with one push, lift myself over the top before landing on the balls of my feet. I placed my bag back on to my shoulder and started to head further in to the forest towards the place I felt safer. My mom's tree.
It didn't take me long to finally catch sight of the weeping willow and start to climb up the wooden branches.
Once I was seated I draped my bag on one of the branches next to me before placing my hands behind my head and leaning back against the bark of the tree before closing my eyes.
I think I had only been comfortable like that for about five minutes before I sensed something close by.
I kept my eyes closed and honed all of my senses on that feeling of being watched, I couldn't tell if they were getting closer or further away from were I was, I couldn't tell what they were up to.
I decided then and there that it was probably just an animal grazing and resting, I doubt any human would know that I was here.
I forgot about the mysterious presents and focused my attention back on the noise of the wind and the feel of the sun.
I must have dozed off for a second to let my guard down long enough, because soon I found myself fly through the air and falling down towards the ground.
Muscled warm arms encircled my body as I finally felt the pressure of someone holding me.
I must have climbed some distance, as it felt like forever as I watched the green and brown blurs, fall past me and my captor.
Gravity took control of us as we tumbled down, and soon found ourselves twisting around, so that I landed on top, kept safe away from the impact of the ground.
The rush only lasted a few seconds and as we hit the ground the sound of grunts and groans filled the air.
"Well I know not to do that again. How much do you weigh?" the sound of a chuckle filled the air as I looked up in the eyes that had Chihuahua sized butterflies fluttering through my stomach, and a unknown warm feeling to spread across my chest, tightening it.
"Well, that will serve you right for jumping me. And what do you mean, how much do I weigh?"
I looked into his glowing green eyes and started to smirk, slowly growing in to a full out smile.
And not long after we were both out right laughing.
