Thanks for the reviews! So excited for season two! I can't be the only one lol I do not own anything else in this chapter, besides Becca everything else belongs to their rightful owners.
Chapter 10
$%^$^&%
Klaus was furious and seeing red as he, Elijah, and Hayley followed Sabine's directions. Hayley led the group, knowing the area better. Klaus was trying to pick up Becca's scent. He was beyond just worried about her. They left the car a good mile or two back when Klaus caught the faint scent of a familiar scent he knew fairly well.
As they made their way out of the trees and onto one of the back roads, both Hayley and Klaus recognized a familier blue truck. Klaus immediately went to tearing it apart, trying to find any trace of Becca in the truck and to see if his suspicions were right. "This . . . vehicle . . . reeks of someone I thought I was rid of." He snarled, sniffing different objects before tossing them aside and shutting the driver's side door. "Tyler Lockwood." He growled.
The last name was what helped Elijah remember who he was referring to. "Rebecca's brother."
He didn't meet him personally, but he remembered Becca talking about her brother a dozen times before. She idolized him, as any little sister did. He knew it for a fact since Rebekah did the same thing to Klaus. "Why would he have any interest in kidnapping his own sister?" He asked, knowing it was too random to be just a coincidence. There had to be more to the story than what Klaus was saying.
Klaus didn't want to give him the entire story. He wanted to skip the entire story all together and focus on Becca. He knew even if she was with her brother, she wasn't safe. There was no telling what lengths Tyler would go to to protect her, even if it meant first hurting her. He knew Elijah wouldn't let it go until he told him though. "He wants revenge because, for starters, I was dating his little sister." He started, jumping onto the bed of the truck and smelled the blanket there.
He could faintly smell Becca on it, but it had to be at least a few hours old. They couldn't be that far off, especially if they went by foot. Elijah knew his brother well enough to know that was probably the most innocent of his actions toward Tyler. "Why do I suspect this is the least of your offenses? Does this have anything to do with why Becca is no longer with you?" He asked, though he'd been wondering that for a few days now.
Becca had been good for Klaus. She brought out his humanity, and it was a shame to see that gone. Even now, he could see glimpses of how worried his brother was for this one girl. It was like nothing he'd ever seen Klaus go through before. "Back, when I had the means to sire hybrids, he was my first." Klaus started to explain as he riffled through the truck. "Although I didn't give him much choice in the matter." He chuckled, smirking at the memory.
"He was loyal in the beginning, though not very pleased when Becca and I first started to see each other romantically. He grew insubordinate. Turned my other hybrids against me, I couldn't have that." He said as he hopped down from the truck. "So I massacred the lot of them." He smirked, obviously pleased with his work. "Tyler ran, like the a coward before I could finish him off." He said, his frown returning.
Elijah could see why Tyler was upset, but he was missing two things. What his brother did to push the poor boy over the edge, and how any of this connected to Becca and why her breaking it off with Klaus had to occur. "Anything else you would like to share? Perhaps how Becca fits into all of this?" He asked, knowing there was still more to the story.
Klaus tried not to look bitter as he remembered that awful day. If Becca telling him about Kol kissing her wasn't bad enough, then all of his hybrids turning against him was the icing on the cake. All his happiness had blown up in his face, and now he was given a second chance with the girl who had his heart. He couldn't screw this up because his brother decided to interfer with them now. "Sweet, little, Rebecca. Not so sweet after all, you see. She and Kol . . . I had already lost her and my hybrids all in a matter of hours. So, I took it out on their mum." He said, a forced smug smile on his face.
Elijah could see right through him though. He didn't find joy in what he did, it was the action that cost him Becca. "You killed their mother. Wonderful." He said, rolling his eyes before looking back. So, that just left the question of why he would do it if he knew it'd mean he'd lose her? It didn't make any sense to Elijah. "Why would you do that to Becca? You care for her deeply, yet you had to have known that killing her mother would ruin any chances you had to reconcile." He asked, trying to understood where his brother's head could have been in that moment.
Glancing over at Hayley, who was smart enough to keep a distance and at least pretend she wasn't listening, before looking back at his brother. If he was going to tell anyone, it would be Elijah. "I told you, I already lost her. My entire world was torn away from me because of Kol, and I wanted her to feel the pain I was feeling." He started, guilt flashing on his face before he pushed it back. "I didn't realize I'd hit rock bottom until Carol Lockwood stopped struggling. I thought that was the worst I could do to Becca, but it wasn't. I was the one to give her to news." He confessed, remembering the phone call he made her. He'd been so cruel to her, and he never regretted anything more than that night.
"Talk about lower than rock bottom." Hayley muttered under her breath.
She knew she was partly to blame for the hybrid part of that night. That professor needed another massacre and it had to be the hybrids. She didn't think Klaus would go after Tyler and Becca's mom though. "Tyler Lockwood needed to be taught a lesson. It was killing two birds with one stone."He snapped. Klaus could see judgement in their eyes, but he knew he was jusified for what he did. Tyler tried to kill him first, it was only right he retaliate.
Elijah shook his head. Leave it to Klaus not to think of the reprecusions of his actions. He lost the love of his life, and now her brother was taking away her and their child from Klaus. He acted in the moment, and now it was costing him everything. "And what lesson will you be taught, Niklaus, if he retaliates by harming Becca and your child?" He asked, pointing out Klaus' mistake of not thinking it through. He could lose Becca a second time, but this time he'd lose their child as well.
Klaus gritted his teeth, not liking what Elijah was doing. Becca and the baby would be fine, and safe in his arms by the end of the hour. He'd done a good job of protecting her so far, he didn't need Elijah to question that now. "If I know one thing about Tyler Lockwood, it's that Becca is the most important thing on this entire planet to him. He won't harm a hair on her head." He said.
Klaus knew that for a fact. Tyler put Becca up on her own pedestal, and there was nothing she could do, not even carry a child of his, that would make him turn against her. "And if he thinks it's best for her? You know better than anyone what lengths an older brother would do to protect his youngest sister." Elijah pointed out, reminding him of how he acted the same way with their own little sister. "You love this girl, Niklaus, what better way to beat you than to take both the girl and child away from you? He's her only family, she'll go with him if he asks." He went on, trying to get through to his brother that Tyler could very well take Becca and the baby away from him.
Klaus didn't want to hear this though. He was going to find Becca and she and the baby were going to be fine. He'd bring them home just like before. He wouldn't let her down for a second time. "Enough!" He snapped, not wanting to hear Elijah talk anymore. "I'll kill Tyler Lockwood myself." He growled, shoving past him.
"You do that, and you'll most certainly lose Becca forever." Elijah called out, stopping him where he stood.
Klaus paused, knowing he was right. If he killed the last person Becca had left of her family, she'd never forgive him. She'd really hate him then. Would it be worth it as long as she and the baby were safe though? To him it would be. "See if I care." He muttered out before zipping off, leaving Elijah and Hayley behind. Elijah glanced back at Hayley, this was not going to end well.

Back at the cabin, Becca was stuck waiting for Tyler to come back inside from checking on Dwayne. Lifting her head up, she saw him finally coming back inside. From the look on his face, she knew Dwayne was now a hybrid. "It worked, didn't it? He's a hybrid." She asked over.
Tyler didn't have to answer her, she already knew. Now it was up to him to put a stop to this before it got out of hand. He knew how Klaus was about his hybrids, and now he had a chance to make more. He wasn't going to let that happen to anyone else. "If Klaus gets a hold of you, if he gets that kid, he wins." He said, going over to his bag to find something else.
Becca watched him nervously, her eyes tearing up at the thought of what could be in store for her and her baby. She wanted to protect her child, but she couldn't hurt her brother. "I can't leave him, Tyler. He's the reason I'm still breathing. A week without his and Kol's blood, and I'll be dying. You know that." She tried again. Maybe if she could make him understand, he'd let her go? She had a sinking feeling it wouldn't be that simple though.
Her eyes widened when she saw him pull out another syringe. God only knew what was in this one. She needed to get out of here before she found out the hard way. "And if you stay, he'll take your kid away and he'll make more hybrid monsters." Tyler said, picking up the knife as he made his way over to her. "Slaves who do everything he says." He went on, his anger getting the best of him. He couldn't let this happen, he couldn't. Becca would just have to understand this was for her own good too.
Panic set in when she realized what her brother was going to do. He wanted to kill her baby and say it was for her own good. He wanted to take a part of her away. "Tyler, please, just stop. Let me go! This baby is mine, mine, Tyler. She's a part of me. You hurt her, and you're killing me. This isn't you, please." She begged, hoping she got through to him. "Please, I-I need my brother, Tyler. I need you to protect me, like before. You-you promised you'd always protect me. Don't-don't you love me anymore?" She cried, just wanting him to realize what he was doing was wrong. It wouldn't help her at all, it would just kill her too.
He tried to block out her cries as he knelt down in front of her. He just had to keep reminding himself this was for her own good. He was protecting her. She might not think so now, but it would be better for her in the long run. "I'm doing this to protect you, Becca." He said lowly, getting the syringe ready. "I'm sorry." He whispered, the pain in his voice. If he could make this easier for her, that was the least he could do.
She had tears running down her face, struggling to get away from him. She knew if he sedated her, there was no more stalling for Klaus and Elijah to get here. It would be over and her baby would be gone before she woke up. "No!" She screamed, leaning as far back as she could. "Tyler, please! N-no . . ." She pleaded, but it was too late. He injected her with the sedative. "No," She gasped, the effects hitting her quickly.
Using the last of her strength, she dug the piece of wood into his stomach before he could do anything else. He yelled in pain, backing up as he tried to pull it out. Becca could feel the drowsiness coming over her, but she fought to keep lucid. "Get away from her." A voice said out. For a second, her heart skipped a beat thinking it was Klaus, but she was wrong. It was just Dwayne.
"What?"
"I said, get away." Dwayne growled.
Tyler was confused, it never occurred to him Dwayne would be sired to his sister and her baby. He should have expected that, but it was too late now to change anything. "You got what you wanted, now get lost." He snapped back, shoving him toward the door.
Becca had seen this before. It took her a second to remember when, but she did. It was how Klaus' hybrids acted before they broke the sire bond. Dwayne was sired to her, or well, her baby. "D-don't let him take my baby. Please," She begged, hoping this would work. "Please, don't-don't let him take my baby." She went on, fighting against the sleep. She needed to stay awake, she might still have a chance to get out of here.
"Becca, stop!" Tyler snapped.
Before he could react, Dwayne turned him around and shoved him across the room. Not giving him a chance to get up, he lunged at him. While they fought, Becca took her chanced and reached for the knife. She was so close to being free, she just needed to fight this for a little bit longer. It took her a couple tries, but she was able to cut herself loose. She made a run for it while Tyler was distracted.
She found running to be harder than expected. She kept stumbling over her own feet and bumping into trees. Stopping wasn't an option though. If she did, Tyler would catch her and this would be all for nothing. Gripping the knife tightly in her hand, she stumbled and stopped at a tree to catch her balance. Pressing herself against the tree, she held her head and squeezed her eyes shut.
Maybe if she closed her eyes the ground would stop spinning so fast? The sound of twigs snapping alerted her she wasn't alone anymore. Holding the knife up, she took one last deep breath before spinning around the tree and striking. She wasn't counting on Elijah being there instead of her brother. For once, she was actually happy to find it wasn't her brother finding her. "Forive me . . . I thought you were in danger." He said, giving her a weak grin as he glanced at the knife in her hand. "It appears I was mistaken." He went on.
Becca couldn't be more relieved to see him. She was safe, her baby was fine. Her baby, she needed to tell him about the baby. The sedative was winning in her system, and she could feel the need to sleep getting stronger. "Elijah," She breathed out before her legs gave out from under her. He was quick to catch her, stopping her from hitting the ground. She groaned, trying to open her eyes but it was useless. "My-my baby . . . don't let him take m-my baby." She cried.
Elijah glanced back at Hayley concerned. Brushing back Becca's hair, he could see the needle mark in her neck, not to mention the bite wound on her arm. She'd been through hell, and it was her brother who did all this to her. If that didn't scar the poor girl for life, he wasn't sure what would. "You're safe now, Becca. Tyler won't be able to get your baby, I promise." He assurred her, but Becca shook her head.
It wasn't just Tyler she was scared of taking her baby, it was Klaus. What this baby could do, it was what Klaus always wanted. She needed to tell Elijah. Elijah would keep Klaus away from her and her baby. "No . . . Klaus. Baby, she-she . . . her blood can make hybrids. D-don't let him take my baby, please." She got out, hoping it actually made sense to him. "Please," She muttered before her head fell back, unconsciousness taking over.
Elijah looked taken back, hoping he heard her wrong. Regardless, he needed to find Klaus and see if it was true. Glancing back at Hayley, he was hoping she knew where they could look. "My pack, they live not far from here. She couldn't have made it far, that must be where he took her." She said over. Elijah nodded, lifting Becca in his arms before motioning for her to lead the way.

Elijah, who was carrying Becca, and Hayley came up to the campsite to find Klaus coming out of the cabin. Hayley felt her heart drop when she saw a familiar face sitting on the porch. From the lack of heartbeat and the smell of fresh blood, she knew he was dead. "There you are." Klaus said out as he turned to see the three of them. "I see you found our sweet little Becca on your stroll through the woods." He said, his sarcasm dripping from his voice.
Worry flashed on his face when he saw Becca sleeping in Elijah's arms, but see the little bandage around her arm and hearing the sound of her heart beat reassured him she was going to be fine. Clearing his throat, he turned his attention back to his brother. "Perhasp when she wakes up, she can shed some light on the situation." He said out, motioning to the dead hybrid at his feet. "This . . ." He started, kicking the corpse into the dirt below. "Would appear to be a body of a hybrid." He pointed out the obvious. From the lack of surprise on their faces, he figured they already knew that much.
"His name was Dwayne." Hayley cut in.
Klaus didn't care what his name was. All he knew was there was a hybrid dead that he didn't turn. He'd given up hope of making new hybrids when he came to New Orleans, maybe even before that when Rebekah destroyed all the blood bags he had left. "Well, whoever he was, I didn't sire him. Any idea how that's possible?" He asked, looking between them for some kind of answer.
"As if you didn't know." Hayley growled, taking a step toward him.
"Hayley." Elijah warned, giving her a look to stop.
Hayley did as he wanted, even if she just wanted to break Klaus' neck. Dwayne was her family, part of her pack. Klaus was acting like he didn't matter. The fact he was still lying about this whole hybrid mess only made her blood boil more. "Well aren't you two fast friends." Klaus said bitterly. It didn't take long for the two of them connect.
He shouldn't be too surprised. He'd seen Hayley reading Elijah's old journals the past few days. She admired him, not that Klaus cared. Elijah could be with whoever he liked. "Well, come on then. What horrible accusations have you conspired to levy against me?" He asked, knowing they were going blame something else on him. He wouldn't be surprised if they blamed Global Warming on him at this point.
Elijah glanced down at Becca, reminding himself that he was protecting her first, even if it meant from his brother. He swore to her he woudn't let any harm come to her, and so far he hasn't kept to his word. He planned to change that. "Tyler Lockwood brought Becca here to test a theory." He started. "That the blood of her child could be used to sire hybrids. He claims, you knew that." He went on, watching his brother's reaction for any clue if Tyler was right about that part.
He could see the surprise on Klaus's expression before he cleared his throat and his expression went blank. "Tyler came here a few days ago. I only knew a little of what he was doing here. If I had known he was going to hurt her, I wouldn't have let him stay." Hayley added in, making it clear she had no idea any of this was going to happen. If she had, she would have put a stop to it before it got this way.
"Furthermore, you intended to use this knowledge to build an army." Elijah went on, glancing over at Hayley briefly before looking back at Klaus.
He could see now what they were accusing him of. They thought he only had an interest in his child because she would give him new hybrids. Glancing at Becca, he wondered if she was worried about the same thing. "And of course you assume it's true. I mean, why else would I show any interest in my own flesh and blood? Or in Becca, for that matter." Klaus started, the hurt in his voice clear.
He was disappointed in Elijah for immediately thinking the worst of him about this. He could only imagine what Becca must be thinking of him. "A heart broken little cry baby points his finger at me, and my own brother falls in line. Eager to believe it." He went on, his hurt clear in his voice. "I can understand Becca doubting me, after what I've done to her, but you . . . you're my brother." He paused, trying to get control over his emotions. He needed to be cold about this, or else they would see it as a weakness. He should be use to this. "How quickly you assume the worse. Especially when it comes from her." He scoffed, his eyes shifting to Hayley briefly.
Elijah wasn't about to let him attack Hayley. After all he's done, it was perfectly fair to question what his intensions were toward the child. "Oh, spare me your indignation. When have you ever demostration any kind of concern towards Becca, or her child, beyond any of your own selfish pursuits? And what was it you once said? 'Every king needs an heir'." He mocked.
Klaus gritted his teeth, biting back his first reaction. He had control over himself. He could take Elijah's accusations and deal with it. It was nothing new to him. "Fine, big brother." He said, glancing between them again. "So you doubt my intentions as well. I can't say I'm surprised." He started. "Standing besides the nobel Elijah, how could I be anything but the lesser brother? A liar. The manipulater." He went on. "The bastard." He said more hurt before clearing his throat. "That's all I am to you, isn't it?" He said as he hurried down to the steps to stand face to face with his brother. "And to Rebekah, and judging by the way Hayley over there hangs by your every word, it's clear she feels the same way." He said bitterly before glancing down at Becca. His expression softened for a moment before his glare returned. "No doubt Becca and our child will as well, if she doesn't already." He said, his tone softer as he glanced at her again.
"Brother, if we . . ." Elijah started to say.
Klaus didn't want to hear anymore of this though. He knew his place in his family, and he accepted it years ago. "We have said, all that needs to be said, brother." He said bitterly, giving him a forced smirk as he took a step back. Elijah stood warily, carefully passing an unconscious Becca to Hayley. "I'll play the role I've been given." He said, pausing where he stood.
Before Elijah could prepare himself, Klaus zipped back over and bit into his neck. Elijah yelled in pain, but what was done was done. Hayley touched his back, looking between the brothers in shock. "You two enjoy each other's company. You'll have much to bond over, once the hallucinations and dementia set in." Klaus went on, wiping his mouth as he looked between them both. "Consider that bite my parting gift to you both." He said bitterly before his eyes landed on Becca. "Come on, darling. I've got you." He said more softly as he picked the wounded girl up in his arms. Hayley went to protest but thought better of it and stayed by Elijah's side.
Klaus started walking up the trail, leaving Hayley and Elijah behind. He didn't need them, he didn't need anyone. He could prove to Becca he actually cared for this baby and her. He could convince her her brother was wrong. Elijah was wrong too. He could care about this baby because it was his and Becca's. "Klaus?" He heard her voice speak up. She was coming to.
He adjusted her in his arms, not wanting to drop her. She wrapped her arm around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder tiredly. He could see she went through a lot today, and he just wanted to get her home and in her bed where she belonged. Where she belonged, he thought to himself. Her home was with him, as it should be. "Shh, it's alright, sweetheart. I'm taking you home." He said, kissing her head as he kept walking ahead.
"The-the baby . . ." She started to say, her memories of what happened coming back to her.
He shook his head, not wanting her to get worked up. He had everything under control, she'd see. They'd all see. "Is perfectly safe." He cut her off. The young girl in his arms had nothing to worry about as long as he got a say in it. He'd have the Quarter back in his possession and he'd get Becca back. Everything would be perfect by the time the baby is born. "No one's going to hurt the little cupcake." He went on, his voice actually gentle when he spoke to her about this. "Not even me." He promised, kissing her head. His lips lingered for a moment.
That was a promise he was going to keep.
