The Story Of Us

Chapter 10:- Feelings

You should never compromise your feelings. It's your life. You get to choose what to want to do with it. None other has the right to do so.

Aoi sighed as the leaned back on his chair. It has been one week since his last meeting with Misaki. He has been researching that guy named Shinichi since then; he has checked every site, read every new about that guy. Still no clue. His personal life was kept hidden nicely. No wonder, he was a walker. There has to be some site which has a picture of his son! Aoi thought and straightened his back. Misaki was right, probably. He had a gut feeling; even their surnames were the same.

Who are you Usui Shinichi?

Okay, for a moment, let's assume he is Takumi's son. Then does he know about Misaki? But the way he acts, he probably doesn't. Is he here on Takumi's will? He let his son come here while knowing he may come across Misaki? What about his mother, who was his mother?

Aoi sighed. Questions weren't just leaving his head. Maybe the best option is to ask him directly.

A phone call made him come out of his thoughts. Satsuki.

"Say."

"Ouch, be a little gentle." And he could sense the older lady frown, "Anyways, the thing you asked for, we do have those old pictures of the café."

A smile formed on Aoi's lips, "I am coming."

:::

Shinichi could not believe that he was standing of Yui's house. What happened today was their band won the competition. It was actually quite easy to win though. When Shinichi and Yui sang together, they just rocked the stage. He smiled at the thought. Even Mr. Attitude, Ryuu, praised them for doing a good show. Maybe the Ryuu guy was not that bad. Not to mention, he noticed Emi had something special for that guy. Well it wasn't his business actually. He shrugged. So coming to the point, after the whole show ended, Yui herself invited him and Emi to come and have dinner at her house.

And now they were having dinner with the whole Igarashi family. He looked at Yui who was chatting happily with Emi. They had become very close in such a short time. He Smiled. Yui's mom was good too, she was a very charming and loving lady. Moms are such a nice creature.

"Why are you smiling?"

The deep voice made him stop smiling and look up. He gulped. It was Yui's father, the infamous businessman Igarashi Tora. Okay, now he knew why everybody feared him, his one looks can send shivers down anybody's spine. Even, Ryuu wasn't talking that much in front of him. In a moment, Shinichi composed himself, "I think you have a very nice family."

Tora eyed the boy for a moment. He didn't like him just like Ryuu. Plus he was really shocked to see when his daughter bought him home. Those emerald eyes were something he can never forget. He raised a brow, "I heard, you two are form England. Why did you come here?"

Emi looked at Shinichi. He can't tell the truth and she knew how much he sucked at lying. "Actually…" she started getting everyone's attention, "We were very interested in Japanese culture, so we thought why not complete our high school education from there…"

Tora leaned his head to a side and mused, "You two came oversees on a childish whim and your parents allowed you." He again eyed the boy, "You two must be kids of someone rich from England."

This guy's trouble… Shinichi smiled, "Our parents did oppose to it but we were really determined to come here." He looked at Emi, "Right?"

Emi nodded.

Tora raised a brow. "Good"

Ryuu eyed those two. It was only for a moment but it felt like Shinichi's voice shook, like he got scared for a moment. Even Emi seemed unprepared for the question. Now that, Yui's father mentioned it, maybe these two were hiding something. It did felt like they came from a higher society. He looked at Yui. She looked relaxed. Maybe she didn't notice it or simply didn't care.

Emi cleared her throat, "Mr. Igarashi, if you are into business then you must know Usui Takumi Walker right?"

Shinichi may have guessed it but it felt like the atmosphere just got thicker when Emi took his father's room. Even the happy go lucky mother became silent too as she eyed her husband.

Tora took a deep breath, "Everyone in this field knows him."

Shinichi's eyes lit up, maybe this guy could tell him about his mother. "Actu-"

"I hate that guy."

Shinichi flinched at his voice, "W-Why?" He couldn't resist asking.

Tora glared at the boy. It was getting annoying. He didn't have the time to play chit-chat with some high-schoolers. If it wasn't for his daughter, he would've never ever sit in front of some unknown people pretending to love their company. Not to mention, even the name of him made his blood boil.

"Let me ask you" Tora took down the fork and looked straight into Shinichi's eyes, "Why are you that curious? Are you a spy? Did that guy sent you here? Are you his son? If you are let me tell you, I will make sure to kill that guy!"

Shinichi's eyes widened at the accusation. Thankfully, he didn't have to answer as Yui's mother stopped her husband. It definitely looked as if they had asked the wrong question. He gulped. Okay, maybe they were some old enemy. One thing for sure, he knew his father.

"I am sorry." Chiyo murmured after her husband got up from the table, "They were never on good terms." She smiled sadly.

"N-No, I am sorry. I shouldn't have asked." Emi stuttered.

Ryuu and Yui eyed each other. What if Tora wasn't wrong..?

:::

Aoi's eyes sparkled as he finally found some clue. Usui Shinichi walker. He was the captain of some elite basketball team from England. Walker; that surname alone was enough. Aoi came to maid latte to look at their old pictures. The resembles that boy had with Takumi were not some coincidence. That girl named Emi was the daughter of another businessman. The Ueda family has been long term business partners with the Walkers. Now everything made sense.

But again why were they here? That he didn't know.

Without thinking twice he took his phone and called the person who had asked him to gather information. Misaki.

His phone was answered after the third ring, "You were right. He is the son of Usui Takumi Walker."

:::

He is the son of Usui Takumi Walker.

What could be more devastative to Misaki's ears..? But still, she needed to know it. She sighed. Did he know about her? But the way he acted around her, it felt he didn't. Plus he said, he wanted to be a singer. Misaki frowned at that. As far as she knew, the Walkers would never allow their heir to be a singer.

Maybe he has a younger brother.

Possible. But the old man of the house was still alive and he would definitely make the older guy heir. Maybe he ran away. Very much possible. But that girl, Emi, why was she with him? Aoi said their families were business partners. Did Takumi know about them being here? Aside from these, there was tiny chance that if Ryuu stayed together with Shinichi, then he will come across with Takumi much sooner than she expected and this thought scared her. If the Walkers knew about Ryuu's presence… she didn't want to think what will happen.

Misa-chan, I will always protect our child. He used to say. She chuckled; she wondered if he will even acknowledge Ryuu's presence. After all, sixteen years passed and he never once tried to know about them. Maybe, he was happy and contented with his new family. I have found somebody I love… she could still remember the note he wrote her.

The sudden doorbell saved her from over-thinking. It was her son. Funny, whenever she was in trouble Ryuu would turn up and save her. She kicked out all the bad thoughts, she had Ryuu. This was enough and she will protect him. No matter what happens.

"How was the dinner?"

Ryuu looked at his mother and sighed, "Can anything go right when Yui's father is there?"

Misaki laughed at her son's expression. "Well, Tora can be a little bit frightening."

Ryuu sighed at that. It wasn't a little at all. He never knew how his mother became friends with someone like him. Igarashi Tora was seriously dangerous. But then again, he was very sharp and that the perfect eyes of a businessman. Nothing could escape his eyes and this quality of his, made Ryuu respect him very much.

"Mom, you have been friend with uncle Tora for a long time right?" he asked as he sat down in the couch they had.

Misaki frowned at the unusual question, "Since high school, why?"

"Then do you know why he hates Takumi Walker?"

Her eyes widened, as she chuckled bitterly, "I don't know."

Ryuu frowned. Why was everybody acting weird at the mention of his name? Even his mom flinched a bit. "You know him too?" He couldn't resist asking.

"No." She answered, "I don't."

Ryuu nodded, "Okay, good night."

Mom, you still don't know how to lie.

:::

Japan.

His son was in freaking Japan! And he went without even telling him?!

Takumi was mad. Never in his thoughts did he think they will lie to him. But why that place?! He hated that place; because it had too many memories of her.

He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. It's not that he never wanted to talk to Shinichi about his mother but it was just too hard for him. No matter how much everybody told him, her death was still his fault. Maybe it was a good thing that Shinichi went to Japan, there's a small chance that he will probably come across Tora or someone he knew. Maybe, that way he will know about his mother.

I will make sure to talk about her when he comes back.

He knew his son; he was as determined as his mother. He wanted to be a singer but the whole family is against him; after all he only heir. But he made a promise to her. No matter what happens, he will protect his child. That's the least he could do.

And that's why he's going to keep quiet about him being in Japan. Who knows, maybe when he comes back, he will be a little more matured.

:::

Exams were over.

It has been three months since they came here.

Many things changed since then. Yui, Emi became close friends. Even he kind of got along with Ryuu too. Everyone here was nice. But the nicest person here, probably, was Ryuu's mother. Ayuzawa Misaki. Shinichi could sense why Ryuu was such a mumma's boy. She was a superwoman. She was amazing. That much was given. He envied Ryuu.

Shinichi ran a hand through his hair, he didn't know why but he wanted to see Misaki. Maybe, it was because she had a motherly aura around her which attracted him. He was standing in front of her class, waiting for her to come out. He looked through the window; the students seemed to be enjoying whatever she was teaching. The bell rang meaning it the end of the class. Soon, she came out and as expected was shocked to see him.

"How was your exam?"

He smiled sheepishly, "Well, I am not that good at studying in the first place."

Misaki frowned at him. No matter how much she denied, this guy had his own kind of charming-ness. It was hard to resist him. She couldn't resist him even after knowing he was his son. To her, it felt like he was just like Ryuu.

"Even if you want to be a singer, you have to study." She scolded and smiled when the other person grinned at her, "Did I say anything funny?"

He shook his head, "It's just that no-one ever scolded me like that."

Misaki took a breath, made sense. Takumi was never such a guy anyway. "Do you have anything to ask me?"

Shinichi looked down for a moment and looked up. He has thought countless times but she was the only person he could ask. "Can you teach me how to cook?"

Misaki laughed at his request. He came to her, to learn cooking. She looked at the surprised teen, "Dear, let me tell you, I was very bad at cooking. Now, I think I do cook decent but still, you shouldn't learn from me." She stopped for a moment, "Can't you ask your parents?"

He shrugged, "Nobody in my house cooks. Actually I don't think, I have ever seen my parents step foot in the kitchen."

Misaki frowned at that. Takumi stopped cooking…? She shook her head, "Okay, I can teach you some dishes." She said as he ruffled his hair.

Shinichi smiled. If only, he had a mother like her…

:::

Emi was happy that exams were over. In the last three months, she had lived more than she did in the past few years. There were so many great people out here. She was happy that she wasn't judged here, she felt happy that no one here befriended her because her father had money. Speaking of her family, she wondered how they were doing. She didn't worry about her father, but her mother… Maybe she was worried. But again, Mr. Walker must have informed her mother.

The thought of her family made her gloom. Emi sighed. Who knew what would happen when they go back. Maybe the engagement would be still on. Shinichi did tell her that they only had six months here; which means three more months... time passed very quickly. Her father has always been very strict, from childhood she was told that she must not do something which will bring shame to her father. If the engagement is still not canceled by the time she get there, then she will have to accept it.

But then again, after leaving, maybe she will never be able to see these persons again.

Yui... Ryuu…

"You seem down."

Emi smiled at the voice, here comes Mr. Savior. She saw at her left to see him standing there with his hands folded on her chest, "How do you always find me whenever I am in trouble?"

Ryuu chuckled as he approached her, "Am I disturbing you?"

Emi shook her head as she took a good look at him. As usual, he looked fresh, his uniform neatly wore but his hair looked a little ruffled. His ruffled hair actually made him look a little cute. Emi blushed a little at her own thought. She looked away.

"So…What is it?"

"Nothing, just remembering my family."

"Homesickness?"

Emi looked at him and nodded, "A little." Her eyes widened at his next gesture. He patted her head like she was some little kid. A chuckle escaped from her mouth.

"Do I look like a kid to you?" She asked.

Ryuu smiled, amused at her reply, "I sure don't." he grinned, "Do you want me to show support like adult does? Maybe by hugging…"

And she blushed deep red. He burst out in laughter. It was quite rare to see him laughing hard. Not to mention, the smack he received made him laugh harder.

"Stop joking!"

"Yes yes. Want to go home together?" He proposed, changing the subject.

Emi smiled at him. The very thought of not being able to talk casually with him made her heart clench. She nodded. It wouldn't hurt to talk and walk together. She started walking, but she heard him murmur, "I wasn't joking though."

She turned, "What?"

Ryuu shook his head and smiled, "Nothing."

Her heart clenched at the sight. It wasn't his usual smile; this smile had something sad like he was suppressing something. He had always been a gentle guy, he showed up whenever she was in trouble, his smile always made her happy. I won't be able to see him after three months… Tears started to fall from her eyes.

His eyes widened. She was a strong woman like his mom; maybe that's he liked her at the first place. She had always been a nice friend. She was beautiful. And now she was crying….?

Before he could he more, his body moved on its own and pulled her close to his chest. Much to his surprise, the other pair of hands embraced him back.

:::

Yui has always been a soft spoken girl, but when it came to Usui Shinichi, she had to shout. Annoying was the only word which could describe him. Like, right now, how he was following her continuously without saying a word.

"What do you need?"

"Like I said, let's go to the new ice-cream shop."

She turned to see him pout like a little child. She sighed, "Why don't you go alone?"

He pouted more, "But eating alone is not fun!"

Yui sighed more. That's all she could do in front of this guy but she nodded anyways.

His eyes lit up, "Yay! Second date!"

Yui frowned at that, "Friendly outing." She corrected him.

He frowned, "Why are you so obsessed with being friends? Do you have anyone you love?"

She looked at him and shook her head, "No."

"Then why?"

After a moment of silence, she spoke up, "My dad is planning my engagement."

His legs stopped. What did she just say..? Engagement… "Are you joking?"

She shook her head and continued to walk only to be stopped by his hands.

"You are going to marry anybody?!" Shinichi asked, disbelief written on his face.

Yui looked down; this was the only topic she wanted to avoid. For god's sake, only she knew how much trouble she went through just to accept it. And now here he was, looking at her as if she was the dumbest one around.

"What do you know..?" She murmured, still looking down, "You have never dealt with it."

Silence filled between them. Shinichi let go of her hand and put those hands into his pocket. He took a deep breath. Yui looked at him; she was quite shocked to see him silent though. He was the kind of guy who is always cheerful; seeing him like that made her worry.

"You know…" Shinichi started getting her attention, "The other day, what we said in frontof your father was a lie."

Yui frowned, "What?"

He let out a long sigh, "Actually Emi and I both ran away."

She gasped, "Why?!"

He smiled and looked at her, "Cause our parents were planning our engagement and we were against it."

She blinked. What…? Was he telling the truth..? Disbelieve was written all over her face.

He ran a hand through his hair, "I think you should never compromise your feelings. It's your life. You get to choose what to want to do with it." He looked at her, "None other has the right to do so."

Hearing him, she chuckled. For a moment, he sounded really cool. She took a deep breath and looked at him, "Sometimes you can say good things too. Thank you." She smiled.

He blushed. Damn that smile..!

"You know... I will be happy to marry you one day." He joked.

And much to his surprise, she blushed and looked away.

"Just go to the ice-cream parlor idiot."

"Yup yup."

Suddenly his phone vibrated. It was a message from Emi.

I like Ryuu.

He smiled and texted back. I love Yui.
