A/N: So I updated this pretty quickly. One reason being, I'm ready for this one to be over with. Not because I don't love this story, but because I'm excited to write the continueation of this one. The other reason being is I'm out of ideas for this one... I dropped a hint though in the story about what the next story will be about... So enjoy!

*Hadyns' P.o.V.*

As soon as the words left Stoics mouth, every ones' eyes went to the window. It was just past night fall. Hiccup stands up, still holding Mordecai in his hands. He meets every ones' eyes with a deep seriousness.

"Alright, you heard the man. We've got attackers coming at dawn. We need to be rested, strong and ready. Everyone needs to get home and get some rest," he says, a sense of command in his voice. Once every one had nodded and proceeding to leave, Hiccup flops down on his bed and sighs.

"Man, today went by fast… Too fast," he says, putting Mordecai on his stomach. Hiccups' dad had lingered in the room as every one left.

"Son, I want you to know that the whole island is behind you on this. I have faith in you son, you'll do you old man proud," Stoic says before leaving. Hiccup stares after him in shock. Mordecai walks up on Hiccups' chest and licks his chin.

"Hi there Mordecai," Hiccup says while scratching Mordecai's chin.

I smile and look around, noticing that there was a dragon missing. "Hey, where's Nightlyght at?" I ask.

Hiccup looks around the room. "She might have left with Astrid without us knowing," he says, "but we should try to get some sleep. We're going to need it."

With that, Hiccup, Cyandin, and I all crawled into bed. I don't know about the boys' sleep, but mine was riddled with nightmares.

**RIGHT BEFORE DAWN**

I'm not really sure if I ever got any sleep. Sure, I felt rested, but my sleep had been filled with nightmares, I wasn't sure how long I was actually asleep. I sit up in bed, and hear a yawn off to my left. Cyandin was just waking up too, rubbing under his eyes sleepily. Next to him, Hiccup was groaning. Mordecai had just jumped on his stomach to wake him up. I laugh a little bit before remembering what today had in store.

The cloud layer outside had not let up, but it wasn't storming today. There was a mass moving across the sky, and for a heart stopping moment, I thought it was the sails of ships off the horizon. I got up and ran to the window, and let out a breath when I realized it was our dragons.

"They're back! Our dragons are home! Guys, there back! We have an advantage!" I say, feeling for the first time in a while that we actually had a chance.

Hiccup gets up and scrambles to the window. "This is great! I was afraid that they would get here soon enough… Wait, they came on their own?"

The dragons landed in the middle of town and their babies climbed off of something they carried. A figure jumped off a Monsterous Nightmare and paced in front of the dragons. "There's someone down there, come on!" I say before taking off down the stairs. I hear footsteps following me as Cyandin and Hiccup follow me.

I run outside and towards the dragons. I see the figure, and realize with a start it was a female. And she was wearing armor as if she was ready for war. I stop running and slowly approach her and say, "Excuse me, ma'am!"

She turns around and her eyes widened. I look down at myself and notice that I hadn't put my cloak on, so my wings, ears, and tail were in clear view. I curse myself under my breath. "I am so sorry… It's not what you think… I'm not gonna…"

"Hadyn? Is that… Is that you?" the lady asks, her voice raspy sounding, as if she needed water.

Hiccup and Cyandin come up behind me and I hold my hand out to stop them. "How do you know my name?" I ask.

The woman looks up at me, tears shining in her blue eyes. She removes her helmet and red hair streaked with a little grey tumbled out and fell to her lower back.

"You were only a babe when you last saw me… But a mother never forgets," was all the woman said.

The whole world stops for a second for a second as I stared at the woman in front of me. From what I've seen of myself, this woman and I have the same facial features. We had the same big, round blue eyes, the same heart-shaped face, and even the same kind of freckles that spanned across the bridges of our round-ish noses. She was a little paler than I was, so her freckles stood out more on her than they did with me.

"Mom? What? No, that's impossible! You were killed! You were killed by Methodius! I watched it happen when I was seven!"

"What? Methodius killed her? What else did he do? And why are you here and not there?"

"Well, let see, when you're outcast from the island, you kinda have to leave."

"But, he promised he'd keep you safe."

"What are you talking about?"

"Your father, Methodius, he was my husband. But he lived in another tribe, and when his tribe figured that out, they put us under siege. He was my only hope for my babies to make it away safely. He told me "I will make sure that Hadyn and Cyandin are safe, no matter what." Cyandin was two and you were barely six months. I can only guess that when he got to another tribe, he married there and told you guys that she was you mother. Why are you two here?"

I speak up before Cyandin says anything. "He isn't my father. He hasn't been since I was seven. He disowned me then. He never did anything to keep me safe. He beat me, blamed me for everything that went wrong. I was never safe there. Cyandin was the safe one. Methodius favored him. I watched Methodius murder the woman he made us call mom. He murdered her in front of everyone. I never knew why though. Just a month or so ago, he banished me from the island, and Cyandin followed me out. We both ended up here, on Berk," I say, my voice surprisingly steady.

The woman – or well, my mom – nods, seeming to be lost in thought. She looks back up at me, studying me in the early morning light. People were starting to emerge out of their house around us. My mom took a step towards me and hesitantly raised a hand to my head.

I lower my head, and she gently touches my dragon ears. "Your great grandmother had the same gift, you know?"

I lift my head and look at her. "Really?"

"Yes, only she didn't have the appearance of a Night Fury. She had one of a Deadly Nadder. "

"I didn't think that happened to anyone else."

"Well, there has always been magic in our family. It just skips a couple of generations."

I hadn't noticed that when Hiccup came up beside me, I had absentmindedly taken his hand in mine. But my mom noticed.

"Who's this?"

"Huh?" Oh, crap. I feel the heat seep into my cheeks. "This is uh, this is Hiccup. He's the chief's son… and uh, he offered me a place to stay when I washed up on Berk."

"Ah, okay."

"Son! It'll be a matter of minutes before they – who's this?" Stoic comes pushing through the crowd.

"My name is Jinx, sir. You must be Hiccup father. I'm Hadyn's mother."

"I thought…"

"I'll explain that later, dad. But you said that the ships are almost here?"

"Yes, er, is everyone ready…?"

Hiccup looks around the group. The Vikings all had their weapons, including Astrid, Snotlout, the Twins, and Fishlegs. Everyone had the look of determination on their face. "I think we're as ready as we can get," Hiccup says somberly.

Stoic nods and walks towards the front of the group, meeting up with Gobber.

"What's coming?" my mom, Jinx, ask.

"Methodius. He's be hunting for us, and now he's found us. There's going to be a war," I say. A familiar solid white dragon head bob out of the crowd of dragons. I gasp when I see the blue wings of said dragon.

"Ice-Fire!" I run up to my Typhoomerang and hug his neck. I look at him and smile. "Hi there baby boy. Can you do me a favor? I need you to watch all the baby dragons while I'm away, please?" Ice-Fire grumbles low in his throat. "Thank you Ice-Fire. I promise I'll be back before you know it."

My mom came up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder. "Is this one yours?"

I nod and continue to rub Ice-Fires' neck. "How do you know he'll listen? How does he understand you?"

"According to legend, I'm one of the few people who can speak to dragons."

"Really? I guess that's another thing you got from me."

"What?"

"I can speak to dragons too, silly."

I didn't say anything, though I feel like I need to. For some reason I feel like I'm not going to be talk to her for very long, even though I just met her.

"Come on, we need to get to the shores before they do," I say, and then I look at my mom, "please tell me you can fight."

"What Viking can't fight?" she asks confidence in her voice.

"Oh, you'd be surprised."

*Hiccups' P.o.V.*

When we hit the shores, we weren't entirely in a particular order or anything. We were just armed and ready for anything. Five ships roll out of the morning fog, each big enough to carry forty men. The first on in the middle hit the shores, shortly followed by the others. A tall, beefy, dark haired man jumps off the first ship. This had to be Methodius, although he looked nothing like Hadyn or Cyandin. The rest of his armada follows him.

Hadyn walks forward slowly, meeting him in the middle. She stops a few feet away from him and crosses her arms. I have never seen her this brave before. The fact that she's staring her biggest fear in the face right now is pretty shocking for me.

"Hello, Methodius," she says, a sense of deadly formality in her voice.

"Ah, 'ello 'Adyn. Somethin' told me ye'd be 'ere,"* Methodius say, placing his hands on his hips.

"Looks like you finally got what you wanted, huh? You got me to fight back for once. Are you proud now?"

Methodius chuckles and looks around at his army. "Who'd proud o' a freak like ye? Am I right men?"

Hadyn suddenly lunges forward and all small talk was done with.

*Hadyns' P.o.V.*

I lunge forward, catching Methodius in the jaw with my fist. I must have caught him off guard because he stumbles back and yells, "Attack!"*

Noise exploded around me, but I was focused on Methodius. He pulls out his sword at the same time I do. His was made out of some metal I had never seen before, and mine was Gronkle Iron. This shouldn't be this easy. I take a side swipe with my sword and he blocks it. But instead of my sword slicing through his, it clangs against it. Well, this just got a whole lot harder… Maybe.

"Ye've been practicin'," he says, grunting against the weight I put on my sword.

"Thank you for noticing," I say, letting off the sword… only to bring it around quickly and catch him in the thigh, making it hard for him to put his weight on it. "You apparently have not," I say as he grimaces in pain.

I was right on the fact that he hadn't practiced. He only managed to block about ten percent of my attacks. He eventually gets my sword hand in a lock, forcing me to drop my weapon. Methodius smile at me cruelly and I smile back. With out and warning, I bring my left hand up and place it upon his neck. Sending fire out through my hand and on to this mans' neck gave me a funny feeling. Methodius stumbles away from me, places his hand over the burn on his neck and flinches.

He growls in frustration and lunges at me, balling his fist up. I know where he's aiming and I easily block it, catching his hand in a lock, twisting it behind his back. I kick Methodius in the side while keeping his hand locked behind his back, hearing the satisfactory crack of ribs. I let go of him and I could tell that now even breathing hurt him. He turns to towards me, attempting to put on a brave face. I shake my head as he re-adjusts his grip on his sword.

Methodius swings at me. I duck, come up underneath his arm, grab his wrist and crack his elbow in one fluid movement. He drops his sword and I flip him over onto his back, effectively knocking the wind out of him. I squat down and place my knee in the middle of his chest, putting most of my weight down on it. I pull the dagger out of my boot and hold it to Methodius' throat. He groans loudly, and all other noises seem to stop. No one was fighting anymore. There was just silence, until I start speaking.

"I've decided not to kill you… For now anyway. If you do not get you pathetic ass off of this island, I will not hesitate to kill you. Do not underestimate me."

I remove my knee and my dagger and get up, backing away from him. "Now go," I say, pointing towards the ship. Methodius struggles to get up and I turn my back on him. That was a big mistake.

"Hadyn!" that was my mother screaming.

I turn and see my mother running in front of me, blocking my view from Methodius. My mother suddenly crumples to the ground. Protruding out of her stomach was a dagger, and on Methodius face was a smirk.

Something bubbles up inside me. I don't know if it was rage or sadness, but I took that something and launched it at Methodius. He burst into flames and soon turned to ashes. I cast a harsh glance at his army, which had dropped by half now.

"I suggest you leave, unless you want the same thing to happen to you," I say harshly. His army hurries back to their ships and sail off. The wind blows away the pile of ashes.

I drop down to my mothers' side and pull her head into my lap. I feel my friends surround me, and Hiccup puts his arms around my shoulder.

My mother reaches up and places a hand on my cheek. I put my hand over hers and start to cry. "You can't go! I just met you… Please, mom…"

"Don't cry little one... I won't leave you for good… I'll always be with you... Just have a little faith in magic…"

"Mom, no! You can't do this to me!"

My mom places her other hand on my chest, above my heart. "I… I will always be with you… I… I promise you this…" A warm sensation spreads out from my heart and goes all over my body. The hand on my chest slips away and my mother closes her eyes. I take the hand from my face and place it on her stomach. I begin shaking and Hiccups' arm tightens around me.

I turn to Hiccup and wrap my arms around him tightly, shaking with grief. I don't know how long we stayed there. Camicazi, Mordecai, Nightlyght, Twister, and Toothless all come up to Hiccup and I, surrounding us. I continue to cry until my tears dry up.
