Chapter 10 : Friends after Enemies
Kagami couldn't take it...
He couldn't stand it...
This wasn't right...
This was wrong beyond all measure...
He had to stop this. Put an end to this horrific visage that seemed to cling to the only moving players on the court like a cloak.
Without another thought in his head, other than determination, he ran forward to confront the blue coloured devil that danced in the same sporadic fashion as before.
Flinging his arms out to either side of himself, he stared, un-flinching into the crazed blue-green eyes that steeled before him.
Seconds passed. Both watched on, un-blinking, measuring the other to some degree, with their eyes.
"..Ara? What is it Taiga? I've got a game to play.." Kuroko finally said in an amused voice, while his face scrunched in a mock-attempt of a pout.
Kagami snapped.
"What is it? What is it? That all you can say!? This isn't you! we are a team! You taught me that!"
At Kagami's outburst, Kuroko changed on a dime. Gone was the slacked nature of his posture. Gone was the amused expression he wore and gone was the recognition in his eyes. He stood tall and stared at the red-haired light, like predator to prey.
"..I thought you would know Taiga...Weren't you the one who taught me to face the strongest of opponents?...Were you not the one to tell me that I can overcome my former team-mates if I put my mind to it?...That was you...Everything...You changed me..." Kuroko sneered in the face of Kagami with a look of disgust and anger.
Kagami's eyes widened dramatically before they narrowed once again. His voice grit low and sounded similar to that of a angered creature.
"Snap out of it Kuroko! Are you listening to yourself!? We are teammates! Ignoring that will just make you pathetic in my eyes!"
Pathetic
Kuroko's eyes glazed and his left orb started to flicker. Changing constantly from green to blue to back again. Kagami felt hope arise in him, thinking that he had finally gotten through to Kuroko...However that hope was crushed when he saw Kuroko's now leering face and the Emerald colour that accompanied it.
He was manically grinning, while his eyes focused solely on the light in-front of him.
"..But Kagami...I'm just doing what you told me...Heh...If you fall, you get back up again...If you die on the ground, you aim to rise even higher...This was your lesson Kagami...I am merely following it through..."
Kuroko was now giggling. The sound felt un-natural to the ears and made the Power-Forward slightly cringe away from his shadow.
"..Next time...Don't try this again...I wont hesitate to cut you down...You are already worthless to me anyway..."
The now shocked Kagami watched as Kuroko vanished before him, leaving nothing but the sterile air that wisped around fluidly.
However...The words...The words that Kuroko said...Still seemed to echo around him and taunt at his now useless form...
No...
This wasn't happening...It couldn't be...
He gave up struggling long ago...It made everything worse in the end...
How...?
The tears now flowed from his eyes and dripped in-front of his slumped body...
Maybe a shout could make someone hear him?
His features lightened in hope...
Yes that was it! If he shouted, there was bound to be someone to hear him!
His mouth opened and with a burst of energy he forced a triumphant shout out of his throat...
What...?
Silence, if it were at all possible, seemed to echo around him...No noises...No shouts...Nothing..
Why...?
