Chapter 10: Soccer Match

Full Summary: TK and Kari went out for another date. On their way to the Donut Shop, they met Matt and Mimi. TK's mad with his brother for being overprotective. Someone got his nose bleeding. The couple then went to a soccer match where Tai and Davis were playing in. They met most of the Digidestined there. (Tense soccer match coming your way.) After the game, Davis hugged Kari in front of TK.
A/N: Want to know TK's reaction? Read. Sorry for updating it after a long time already. I am so busy with studying hahaha. Also, it's been 4 years already since I first published this story. I REALLY HAVE TO END IT LIKE SERIOUSLY NOW! Hahaha I want to write another story so yeah keep on supporting. I'll finish this one pretty soon, I hope.
Kari's POV
I woke up. I don't know how long have I been sleeping. I feel so energized. I open my eyes and I can see clearly his face.
"So, you woke up, finally. Crybaby." TK teased me.
"Shut up, silly." I sit down on my bed. I ask TK. "So? How's last night huh?"
"It's fine. I slept outside his door just because I hugged him." TK rubbed his blonde hair.
"What?! You hugged him? And how dare he let you sleep outside. I'm going to-"
"I'm fine seriously! He let me in not long after. He warned me not to do that again though or he will throw me outside the window." TK explained.
"Souka. Are my parents here? Tai?" I pick my towel and prepare myself to take shower.
"Your parents went outside to buy groceries and Tai went early this morning to practice for a soccer match today at noon. District level."
"Don't you supposed to go home?" I went to the bathroom.
"I called my mom. I asked her to let me bring you for a day out today. She gave green light." TK followed me into the bathroom.
"Oh, okay then wait! I'll take shower first." I pushed him outside.
What a refreshing shower. It took about 10 minutes for me to finish pampering my body. I rush back to my room to change. TK is on my bed playing with my phone. Then he sees me and he holds up high a T-shirt.
"Here, wear this one." TK said to me as he hands me the shirt. It's a shirt similar to TK's. It's a couple shirt I've bought last month. I forgot about that already.
"Oh, you've found it! Hey! Who told you to go through my stuffs!" I shouted at him.
"I'm bored."
"Outside!" I pull him to the door and shut the door in front his face.
"Okay okay my lady." TK said from the outside. "Take your time princess."
I wear the shirt with short jeans. Then I walk to the kitchen. My stomach is grumbling.
As I reach the kitchen, there's nothing there.
"TK? Where's breakfast?"
"Sorry I ate everything already."
"You what?!" I feel like crying already. I am hungry.
"I'm hungry. Besides, we're going to eat outside so just be patience."
Oh seriously?
How can I walk with an empty stomach.
"Done eating breakfast? Let's go. Mom said to be home before evening."
I walk to the living room disappointed and mad with TK.
"Come on. Don't you worry. You can eat anything you want today." TK pinched my cheeks.
Then, he holds my hand and escorts me outside.
"So, where are we going?" I asked him clueless.
"Up to you."
"Okay let's go to that Donut Shop Yolei's been talking about. I'm craving donuts."
"Aye aye captain."
We enter the lift and after a couple of minutes we are outside the apartment. We walk to the town. It's a wonderful sunny day.
On our way to the Donut Shop, we meet Mimi and Matt.
Mimi hugs me and TK so hard. She smiles and says "Oh my god, you two are so cute. With that shirt. You guys really fit well."
I'm blushing. I can see TK's blushing too.
"It's nothing compared to you guys." I said to Mimi and Matt, they made up a pretty cute couple.
"Duhh. We're not sweet like you two. Matt, over here has a lot of fan girls. They made me look foolish. It made me want to poke their eyes off and tear their hair off their skin!" Mimi's devil mode appear.
We all laughed except Matt. He's looking at TK, worriedly.
"TK? How's your leg?" Matt asked TK.
"It's fine. Don't worry." TK said to his brother.
"Mom told me to look after you. In case-"
"I said I'm fine!" TK shouted. I'm so shocked. He never behave like this to Matt before.
"Then, be back before evening. It's so dangerous out here. Besides, I don't want Mom to worry-"
"You sound like Mom already. I can take care of myself. Stop being overprotective towards me. You're not my father to-"
Before TK finishes his words, Matt aggressively punches him on his face. TK falls down to the floor.
"MATT! STOP!" Mimi shouted.
I kneel beside TK. He's still laying on the floor. I can see his nose bleeding.
I hold TK's shoulder. "Are you okay?"
But he's not speaking.
"Matt! Don't you hit TK like that?" Mimi said to Matt. Then Mimi kneels next to me and helps TK up. But TK resists us helping him.
"TK, I know your brother didn't mean that." Mimi said to TK.
"He did." TK pulls me from Mimi and Matt. "Let's go Kari."
"Not until you apologize." I try to let go of his grasp. But he's pulling me so hard I can't let go of it.
I battle with his hand for many times but he's just not letting me go. We lose sight of Mimi and Matt already.
"TEEKAY! Let go of me!"
TK finally stops pulling my hand. But he's still not speaking. He's not looking at me either.
"Don't you ever behave like that again! Especially to your own brother." I lectured him.
"Let's just go." He tries to pull me again.
I push his hand. "No, not until you promise me not to do that again!"
"Okay, only if he's not doing the same thing again."
"No, he's your brother. That's what brothers do."
"Okay okay. I promise." My stomach suddenly calling for food. I bet TK heard it as he immediately says "Let's go get you some foods"
I'm still not happy about what happened just now but I can't resist the temptation to eat. I am, really really am hungry.
"Come." TK holds my hand. But this time, he's not pulling it hard anymore.
"Wait." I pick some tissues from my pouch. "Come here, let me treat your nose. It's still bleeding."
"It's okay. I can do it myself. Give me that." TK's reaching for the tissue but I slap his hand.
"Don't talk." I hold his face tightly and clear the blood from his nose. Finally, his nose is back to normal except for the bruises.
"So, how do I look?" he asked me.
"Well, your nose looks like Voldemort." I laughed. He pouted. "Just joking kiddo. All in all, you are still charming with that hair and eyes of yours. And I'm not complimenting you so stop making that face."
"And you are still that feisty girl I know."
"Shut up jerk face."
"Hey, what's with the charming thing."
So, we walk down another block and finally arrive at the Donut Shop. TK buys me a box of donuts and a cup of hot mocha. He surely knows what I like. He buys me my favorite. Strawberry flavored with sprinkles on top of it. Also, chocolate flavored with icings and many more.
While I'm enjoying my donuts, I look at TK. He's worrying about something. Then, he catches me watching at him and he quickly forces a smile.
I don't realize it's 11 AM already. I help myself finishing my breakfast. I'm so hungry I ate two in just a minute.
"Oh my god TK, you're going to make me fat."
"You are fat already." I accidentally choked the fifth donut.
"TK!"
He laughs. "I'm just kidding okay."
"TK? Aren't you hungry? Eat some. You'll starve yourself."
"Nope. I'm good."
"Okay then. Don't regret it later." I continue eating.
After my stomach is finally full, we left the shop.
"So, where do you want to go next?" I asked TK.
"Dunno."
"Well, let just go watch the soccer match where Tai's in."
"Oh, okay."
We walk to the soccer field not far from the town. As soon as we arrive there, Yolei shocks us both. "KARI! TK! LONG TIME NO SEE! OMG! YOUR SHIRTS! IT'S CUTE. WHERE DO YOU BUY THAT? KENNNNNNN! COME HERE!"
Yolei then goes to Ken and pulls him towards us.
"Sorry for shouting. These people are all screaming, rooting for their favorite teams. It's the second half-time already. We're still leading 3 to 2. Ken, they are cute right?"
"Err- yes." Ken answered awkwardly. Ken does not like to talk much compared to Yolei, who's loud all the time. I'm surprised to see that they're dating.
"Is Cody here?" TK asked Yolei.
"Nope. He's in Tokyo with his grandfather for Kendo Championship." Yolei answered. "Everyone's here except Joe and Izzy. Joe has an important examination and Izzy's lecturing about computer skills to the new members of the Computer Club at our school."
"Matt's here?" I asked Yolei and Ken.
"Oh yes. He's right there. Sitting with Mimi and Sora." Ken said.
"TK! Go apologize." I point at Matt.
"No!" He shakes his head.
"Go now or I'll never go out with you again."
"No!" Now he's making that face again.
So stubborn.
I pull his collar and drag him to Matt. He's trying to break free but I won't give up.
"Kari? What are you doing with TK?" Sora asked me.
"He wants to see Matt." I let go of TK.
"No, I don't want to."
"He wants to."
I pull him again and we both sit next to Matt.
"Talk to him." I whispered to TK.
He's mouthing no. I smack his back.
"Okay okay."
"Matt?" TK called for his brother. I'm trying to listen to their conversation despite the loud noise.
"You don't have to apologize." Matt paused. The player from the other team gets penalty. "Damn!" Then Matt continues. "What I'm trying to say is, I understand you want to be independent. You're right, I'm overprotective. Besides, you are all grown up already."
"I'm sorry- for being rude."
"Dude, you don't have to." Matt's eyes widen. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
The player who gets penalty scored his team a goal. Now, Tai's team and the opposing team are tied 3 to 3. There's not much time left. 15 minutes left on the clock.
I can see my brother, Tai's disgusted face.
"So, how's your nose? Sorry for that." Matt asked TK.
"Well, I can still feel it so I guess it's fine. I can punch better than you. You punched like a baby. Didn't even break a bone." TK joked at his brother.
"Oh yeah? Want to feel more?" Matt and TK laugh together. I'm happy to see that they made truce already.
10 minutes left. Tai's now owning the ball. All of us cheer for him. "TAI! YOU CAN DO THIS!" "TAI! GO GO GO!" "GAMBATTE!"
9 minutes. Tai's nearing the goal post. He's about to kick the ball but-
The referee blows his whistle. A tall player from the other team knocked Tai down purposely. Tai injured his leg.
"GIVE HIM PENALTY ALREADY!" "BOOOOOO!" "RED CARDDD!"
The referee gives the tall player red card and the tall player spits at the field. The crowds boo him for cheating.
"YES! THAT'S RIGHT! GET HIM OUT!" I can hear Yolei screaming.
"DON'T MAKE HIM PLAY SOCCER ANYMORE!" Mimi's screaming too.
8 minutes left. Now they are carrying Tai out of the field. He's injured he can't compete anymore. No this can't be happening. I don't want to compliment Tai but he is the best player on his team.
7 minutes. The rest of the player start the kick off. Their faces fill with nervousness same goes to all of us.
"Come on Davis!" Ken shouted. But only us can hear that actually.
Davis, the second in command in Tai's team is our only hope.
6 minutes. I can see Davis's determined face. I admire his spirit and his enthusiasm. He always give his best on everything.
5 minutes. The ball has been snatched from our team. Another player from the opposing team is carrying the ball to our goal post. He's about to kick it. I can see the ball heading towards the goal post. Fortunately, it hits the pole.
4 minutes left.
Can we make it in time? Please, help us win this.
The kickoff starts again. The other team own the ball right now. A player with long hair is now dribbling the ball around the field.
3 minutes. That player with long hair is nearing our team's goal post.
"DAVIS! BLOCK THAT GUY!" Now Matt's shouting to Davis.
Davis heard it and he managed to steal the ball from that player. Now all of us standing up instantly.
"DAVIS! GO!" "GO GO GO DAVIS!" Everyone's shouting his name.
"DAVIS YOU CAN DO THIS!" I shout loudly. I don't want Tai's team to lose.
2 minutes. Davis dribbling the ball towards the other team's goal post. He's so fast. The players from the other team don't stand a chance to steal the ball from him.
1 minute. The ball is still rolling under Davis's feet.
30 seconds. Davis is a few foots away from the goal post.
20 seconds. Davis managed to pass the other team's defenses.
15 seconds. Davis's about to kick the ball.
I finger crossed hoping Davis can score the goal.
10 seconds. 5 seconds. Davis's about to kick the ball. And-
No.
Time's out.
He didn't kick the ball. A player from the other team, the one with the long hair strikes him when he's about to kick it. Davis fell to the ground.
"NOO!" "THAT'S CHEATING!" "BOOOOO!"
The referee runs to Davis. The referee asks Davis if he's okay. Davis signals a thumbs up. The referee then gives Davis a penalty kick.
Calm down. One last chance. We still can win this. Calm down Kari.
The reason why I don't like sports is that it is so tensing. Especially soccer. I got panicked when my favorite team is losing.
"DAVIS! YOU CAN DO THIS!" "FIGHTING!"
Davis now on his position to kick the ball for the penalty kick. I can see his eyes. He's determined. I recognize that eyes before. That eyes he used to have when we were fighting evil Digimons back in the past.
This is it! It's a do or die.
Davis kicks the ball and-
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!"
We won. 4 to 3.
All of us shout and dance to our feet. Mimi's crying. So does Yolei. Wow! So tensing. We've finally win it.
Now Davis's being carried by his teammates. Tai hardly walks towards Davis and he pats Davis on his shoulder.
What a very close win. We did it. I'm not going home disappointed which is relieving.
All of us take turns congratulating Tai, Davis and the other players. When it's time for me and TK. Davis made his move. He hugs me.
"KARI! Thank you for cheering for me." Davis's still hugging me. I can see TK's disgusted face.
After a whole minute of awkwardness, Tai shouts. "DAVIS!"
Tai pulls Davis away from me. "I know you're the one who scored the winning goal. But, I don't say you can hug her."
Davis pouted. "OKAY! OKAY!"
"Now, let's go celebrate with the rest of the teams."
Tai pulls Davis away. I can see Davis trying to break free.
I turn to TK. His disgusted face is still in view.
"Oh my god, TK! Don't say you're jealous." I laughed at him.
"No I'm not. It's- it's just. You know- ergh never mind."
"Don't try to deny it, silly." I poked him. "You're jealous."
"Stop it."
"Blonde is jealous."
"Kari! Stop it would you?"
"Not until you admit it."
TK sighs and says. "Well, maybe a little."
I laughed at him as he blushes.
"You don't have to worry." I said to him. "You know yourself that I will never go out with other people except you." I look at him at his eyes as he stares at mine.
Yes TK, I will never.
