Chapter ten is here and I hope everyone is liking how things are going so far. Yeah, not like many other Arkham stories, but I'm trying that should count. Anyways, I want to thank everyone for the reviews you all left behind. I appreciate it and thanks to my friend for his help on the story.

Now, we are getting close to the next level from the Arkham game. What is it? I think you all know what it is if you played it. If you didn't, but you want to know then play the game or look it up online to find out.

All right, let's move onto the disclaimer. I don't own anything from the DC universe just my OC and I won't be adding a lot of stuff from Arkham. Just focusing on the main characters, but don't worry you'll see some stuff that is familiar with the game. Okay, it's time for the chapter to begin and enjoy everyone.

Medical break-in

Arkham Asylum

Batman makes his way out of the Intensive Treatment building by going through a ventilation, which leads to a cave. The cave leads outside where he can oversee the East side of the island. This is where the Arkham Mansion, Botanical Gardens, and the graveyard is located at.

He glides down to the ground where he sees the guards getting together. As he makes his way to the gate to the other side of the island he hears Joker talking through the intercom.

"Hmm Harley tells me that the Batman's car is stilled parked just outside the Intensive Treatment building. Now we can't just have him up and leave us, can we? Every thug, villain, murder, and kindergarten teacher that isn't carrying out party orders should head there now and smash it to pieces."

Batman begins receiving transmission letting him know the alarm of the Batmobile is going off.

"Oracle, disable the Batmobile's countermeasure system."

"I saw the alert, what's wrong? Where are you?" she asked.

"I'm outside the Arkham Mansion. Harley Quinn probably triggered the alarm. If she's still got Gordon with her, he could get hurt," he replied knowing what the countermeasures of his Batmobile's defenses can do.

"OK, done!" she replied. "The Batmobile is still parked up outside the Intensive Treatment building in Arkham North. I've send you the schematics for the entire island. I've marked key locations like your car."

"Thanks Oracle," he replied.

"No problem, by the way I talked to Michael. He said they are almost to the facility where Ryan's wife is at," she replied. "But, they are holding their ground when I told them to wait."

"Good, once I find your father I'll meet up with them," said Batman as he makes is way to find Gordon.

Meanwhile

Ryan and Michael are hiding in the bushes near the Medical Facility waiting to make their move. Oracle contacted her boyfriend to stay put, until Batman arrives since Joker might try to kill Ryan.

He wasn't thrilled that his partner told him they had to wait. However, they saw Harley Quinn passed by with several men while they had Gordon with them. They couldn't risk going after them without him getting hurt. So for now, they'll have to wait.

"If only we had better weapons," said Ryan who wished he had his stuff from back home.

"I know," said Michael in agreement. "For now, we have to make use with what we have."

"I guess," Ryan takes out a binocular and looks over at the direction where two of Jokers men are building something. "What is that clown up to?"

"I don't know," Michael replied. "Whatever it is, it's safe to assume it's not good."

"Nope," Ryan replied as he continues observing the area.

"By the way, what did your wife do to piss the Joker off?" Michael asked.

"What?" Ryan asked.

"I'm just asking since she must have done something to get him to come after your family," said Michael who is trying to get anything from Ryan. "I'm not accusing her of anything, but if she knows something wouldn't it be a smart idea to tell us, even Batman?"

"Look, I don't know why he came after us or if my wife is involved. Either way it doesn't matter so drop it, kid," Ryan replied in a harsh tone.

"All right, sheesh calm down," said Ryan who still got his answer anyways. "But, if you are hiding something then just know Batman will figure it out eventually."

Ryan knew he was right. Batman is not stupid and he knows that, especially their past encounters. If something is up he'll find out. If he does then it will end badly.

"Hey, is that him?" Michael points towards the direction where the men are at.

Ryan looks through the binoculars to see Batman fighting them. He then heads towards the Medical facility where he fights the men near the entrance.

"Should we go in?" Michael asked.

"Not yet, let's just watch," said Ryan as he watches through the binoculars on what happens.

Batman uses his Batclaw to climb to the roof. He then glides down and takes down two of the men causing the rest go after him. He punches one of the men nearby in the face, gut, and knocks him out with a kick to the face. Another man tries to swing a pipe at the Batman's head, only for the Bat to catch it and take it from the man before hitting him in the face with it.

Another man charges in, but Jason opened fire distracting the man. Batman saw an opening and punches the man out while he took his eyes off him.

Once the coast was clear, Ryan and Michael joined the Dark Knight.

"You missed one," said Ryan with a smirk on his face.

"I had it under control," Batman replied.

"Whatever you say, so where's Gordon?" Ryan asked.

"Inside," Batman replied. "I followed the trail Gordon left, which was from his pipe."

"I remember," said Michael. "Barbara gave it to him for his birthday. Do you think he's alive?"

"I know he is," Batman is about to open the door to the room, when Jason stops him.

"Do you honestly believe it's that simple?" Ryan takes out his cell phone and carefully opens the door. Using the reflection from the mirror he sees the gates are up. "Looks like we're going to need to find another way in."

"Agree," Batman takes out his Batclaw. "We'll go through the roof."

"Wait, as in we're going up?" Michael asked feeling nervous.

"What's the matter, kid? You afraid of heights?" Ryan then noticed the nervous expression on his partner's face. "Oh, well don't worry we'll just go through the roof and then go inside fast."

"Yeah, maybe I'll just wait out…" Batman grabs Michael and uses his Batclaw to get to the roof. Once they make it, the young man begins moving away from the ledge. "Don't do that!"

"Get use to it," Batman walks towards the part of the roof to get in, while Michael tries to calm down.

"Just don't look down, just don't look down, just don't look down," Michael then realized something. "Wait, what about Ryan?"

"What about me?" Ryan appears near Michael surprising the young man.

"Don't do that!" Michael then noticed something. "How did you get up here?"

"Like I said before kid, my last job helped me out a lot," Ryan walks over where Batman is at just as he finished putting up the Explosive Gel. He activates it as it blows up the side of the wall to the entrance. "Seriously, where do you get those stuff?"

"Don't worry about it," Batman replied as he puts his gadget away. "After we rescue Gordon, we need to talk."

"About what?" Ryan asked.

"Joker wouldn't have tried to kill you, unless your wife had something to do with this," Batman replied. "So, you're going to tell me what I need to know, or I'll find out myself."

As Batman walks into the room, Ryan stands by sighing. "Kid's right, I need to tell him."

"Tell him what?" Michael asked walking up behind his partner.

"That you need to get over your fear of heights kid," said Ryan lying to the kid. "Seriously, you're a cop and you can't have this keeping you from doing your job."

"Where in the job description says I need to do the crazy stuff you and Batman do?" Michael asked.

"From before you accepted working here," Ryan walks inside, while Michael stands around sighing loudly.

"I hate you guys."

Medical Facility

Batman leads the two officers inside the building as they go through the vents to find Gordon. They soon come across a large room where there appears to be some doctors inside, with Joker's men around holding them hostage.

"This doesn't look good," said Ryan.

"No, I don't get why he is rounding up all the doctors though," said Michael who finds it strange on what Joker is doing. "Do you think he needs them as hostages?"

"Or something else," said Batman. "We need to save them."

"How many men are inside?" Ryan asked.

"Five, can you two handle one of them, while I take the rest?" Batman asked.

"No problem," Batman went a different direction in the vent, while the two men went another way.

They come out of the vent over a roofless room where an armed henchman is on the other side. The hostages are in the room next to this one, so the men will have to find a way to get to them without alerting the criminals.

"Throw something over that direction," Ryan points where he wants Michael to throw. "I'll grab the guy and I'll take him out when he is distracted.

"Okay, just don't let them see you," Michael pulls a quarter out and waits for his partner to tell him when to do it.

Once they saw Batman take out one of the men, Ryan motions for his partner to make his move. Michael throws the quarter making a noise that distracts the henchman. Once the man turns towards the source of the sound, Ryan sneaks up behind him locking in a sleeper holding and dragging him away. He keeps the hold on before the man passes out.

Michael sees Batman take out another armed man. The two left near the hostages leave to find out what is going on. One of the men goes to the second level to find out what is going on, while the other goes in the other direction. Michael throws another quarter hitting the man in the face, this distracted him enough for Ryan to run at him. He grabs the gun away from the man, punches him in the throat, and hits him in the side of the face with the gun knocking him out.

The fifth man comes back and sees this, but before he opens fire, Batman appears tackling him down.

"The room is secure, your safe now," said Batman towards the hostages.

Michael climbs down and helps drag the unconscious men towards the others. Once they are brought together, Jason walks towards the doctor.

"Sarah, I'm surprise to see you here after what happened with Zsasz."

"Yeah, I already turned in my two weeks noticed," Dr. Cassidy replied. "I should have just quit when I had the chance."

"What happened here?" Batman asked.

"I don't know what happened," she replied. "One minute we were doing our evening rounds, and the next armed thugs burst into the room and took us hostage."

"Did they have anyone with them?" Batman asked hoping it was Gordon.

"They took someone into the elevator, I couldn't tell who it was," she replied.

"They obviously didn't want to be followed. The elevator appears to have been powered down. You're going to be OK here," said Batman.

"We'll be fine," she said.

"What about the others?" one of the doctors asked. "We heard gunfire. They could be dead. We should go and help."

"Oh no," Dr. Cassidy realized something. "Doctor Kellerman as in the Patient observation Room and Dr. Chen went into Surgery."

"What about Dr. Young?" Ryan asked concerned for his wife. "Where is she?"

"She's in X-ray," the doctor replied.

"OK. Stay here, I'll find the other doctors," said Batman as he turns towards Will. "I assume you'll want to go save your wife."

"I do," said Ryan.

"Okay," he takes out the Explosive Gel and hands it over to Ryan. "Here, use this just in case. Do you want to know how it works?"

Ryan examines it and shook his head. "Shouldn't be too hard to figure it out."

"Batman, what about me?" Michael asked.

"Help protect the doctors here, we'll be back," said Batman.

"Okay, be careful," said Michael.

Medical wing

Ryan and Batman make their way into hallways that lead to three different rooms. One is Surgery, the other the Patient Observation Area, and the X-ray facility.

"Ryan," Batman began. "Remember, don't kill them."

"Unless they try killing me," said Ryan as he cocks his gun. "Then it's called self-defense."

"How you do it is not self-defense," said Batman. "You've come this far without going back to who you were. Don't let your anger for the Joker cause you to go back to being that man."

"I'm not," said Ryan as he calms down. "I won't, I made Penny and my kids that promise. Don't worry I won't."

"Good," said Batman as he begins walking towards one of the hallway, but stops. "If you do, I will stop you."

Batman soon took off leaving Ryan alone with that message. "I got it, Bats."

He makes his way towards the X-ray room where he passes by the videos of Quincy Sharp and his wife, which he listens in on.

"Let me introduce you all to the sterling work of our new Head of Research, Dr. Penelope Young," said Quincy. "Since joining our team 2 years ago, Arkham is now at the forefront of research into understanding the human mind."

Penelope appears on the screen as she talks to whoever is watching.

"Good afternoon, Arkham. Let's talk about the mind. How can such a complex entity be understood and eventually treated when it breaks? How indeed."

Ryan groans when he remembers his wife repeating this same line months ago, which is when she got that promotion. She said it was a line she was going to say for Arkham, but he didn't think it would be for this.

"Project Titan's goal is to create a test bed to fully probe our…special cases in a safe, risk-free manner," to Jason it eventually led to Joker wanting it for his monsters. "Our goal is to cure the more unfortunate specimens. The weak. Those not physically up to the challenge that our medical practices present. Project Titan will make us a world-class facility. An award-winning facility."

Ryan sighed at how shallow his wife sounds when she said that. "Penny, why didn't I stop you from doing this when I had the chance?"

He presses on forward when he comes across two men in front of the door to the X-ray room. He runs at them while they are distracted and tackles them down. He grabs one of them and slams his face to the wall. The other grabs the pipe and swings it at Ryan. He grabs the pipe, bends it, and hits the man in the face with it.

Once they are down he slowly makes his way into the room. Where he hears his wife talking to one of Joker's men. He sees a crack in the wall in front of him and looks inside. He sees his wife surrounded by armed men.

Bursting in will be stupid, especially since it will get her killed and if the door is locked. He then remembers the tool Batman gave him. Taking it out he remembers how the Dark Knight used it. He places the gel on the wall in front of him, then he makes his way around the room where he finds another weak wall and puts more gel on it.

He backs away and detonates the gel blowing the wall up and hears his wife screaming. Running into the room he sees the men are knocked out, while his wife is okay.

Penelope sees her husband nearby and runs up to him. The two embrace in a hug and kiss as both are relieved to see the other is okay.

"I thought Joker got to you," said Penelope who feared the worst for her husband. "Joker's men told me they got to you unless I give Joker what he wants."

"You should know these idiots could never capture or kill me," he said as he helps his wife out of the room. "We need to get you out of here and destroy the notes."

"You haven't destroyed them?" she asked.

"Well, I was going to until I got lost," he said feeling ashamed for what happened. "Anyways, don't worry about it. I'm getting you out of here and I'll go deal with the notes."

"Okay, but we'll need to hurry," she said as they leave the room when they saw on the screen Joker appears.

"Aww how sweet, you came to save your darling little wife after killing my boys and having your old man scare Harley earlier today," said the Joker mocking Ryan and begins laughing. "Well, even though I don't know where the old man lives, it doesn't mean I still can't kill you two as payback."

"Joker, leave her out of this," said Ryan. "She doesn't have what you need, so leave her alone or else."

"Oh I'm shaking in my shoes. Whatever shall I do?" said Joker sarcastically. "Oh, I know, how about I just tell everyone how your darling little wife is responsible for all of this? How she helped me create a weapon to make monsters and how all the people that died today, is because of her."

"Do that and you lose what you need to make your monsters," said Ryan trying to bluff his way out of Joker.

"Oh trust me, Killshot," said the Joker calling Ryan by his old name. "I will get my monsters. I don't care what your past is, I always get what I want."

Once Joker was gone, Ryan turns to his wife. "Let's get you out of here."

"What do we do?" she asked. "If he does get to my notes."

"He won't," he replied. "We won't let him."

Not good for them if he does get the formula? Think Ryan will be able to stop the clown or will it be up to Batman to do it? I think we all know who it will be, but who knows. And do you guys think Batman will find out what the wife has been up to?
