I am really sorry for the late update. I don't have any excuse. Just don't look coldly at my fanfic story.
Chapter 10. Party begin
Erica groaned and looked at the calendar and the clock. Erica's heart beat started to beat fast and her eyes showed nervous and anxious. Today was the day the party starts…Erica wished this day had never come. The party starts at the evening and continue for three days. Three days! This will be the most longest and painful three days she will ever have.
Erica took the files next to her bed at started to read it. However after just reading a few sentence she sigh and toss it away. The files were the information of the Vongola Famiglia but honestly Erica couldn't understand most of the information even though she read it many times. Just what is this flame or storm, rain, mist etc weather mean? Also what the hell is a box animal? Erica figured in the mafia word the rings are important but she just couldn't understand why. Really these files were lack of consideration for normal people.
Erica let out a heavy sigh again and lied down on the bed. She was nervous she had to meet full of mafia and essentially she didn't like to go to a party. When she was younger she always loved to go to a party. A party where famous people meet, gourmet meal, elegant ambience…the feeling she is upper class than most of the people in this world. How arrogance and futile it was to think now. Erica hates party now, it only gives painful memories.
Erica went to a huge luxurious party to celebrate the success of their movie. The movie Erica acted as a main character had become the biggest box office success this year. It finally made Erica a famous actress which Erica had dreamed of. The party invited many people including the actor's family. Erica's husband refused to go, so Erica went to the party with 7 years old Nagi. The party had continued until it was late night.
Being in the party for hours and talking to many people made Erica worn out. However she still enjoyed the party. Many people were congratulating her for her success and Erica liked the attention toward her. Also Nagi wasn't making any trouble. Nagi was behaving as a good girl.
Erica sat down at the table where her friend was also sitting. As her friend noticed Erica had sat next to her, she suddenly asked.
"Have you ever thought it's unfair?"
"What do you mean?" Erica looked at her fellow actress friend. She could see her friend was kind of drunk by drinking too much wine.
"I mean I'm pretty jealous at you… Your act is perfect unlike me."
Erica made a small smile. Yes, her friend was drunk right now. Normally her friend wouldn't think this was unfair. Because her friend knew how hard Erica had always practiced her act. However the next word from her friend was something Erica didn't expect.
"It's unfair because even though you can be a great actress, your child is on your way. You kept going home early and even didn't come for a few days because of your daughter. Also you couldn't fully focus on your act sometimes because your child kept calling you on the phone. If it wasn't for…what was her name? Oh yes Nagi… If Nagi wasn't born then I'm pretty sure you would have become famous much earlier than this." After finishing her words Erica's friend put her head down on the table and began to sleep.
Erica knew her friend didn't really mean to say this. She is just drunk in alcohol and she actually likes Nagi. She will probably be embarrassed the next day if she remembers what she said. However Erica was thinking about this seriously.
Erica knew she shouldn't be thinking like this but somehow the thoughts won't just stop. If she didn't have a child in the first place, then it was pretty sure she would have been a successful actress much earlier. Probably 6 years faster, because she had to quit a successful film due to her sudden pregnancy. Erica still remembered the stress of arguing with her husband and movie staffs. They weren't pleased with her pregnancy and some even told her to abort the child. She fought with them countless of times getting emotionally hurt and stressed. Erica couldn't help but at least once think if she wasn't pregnant with Nagi, she wouldn't have gone all through this and wouldn't grow apart with her husband.
Raising Nagi until now wasn't an easy thing either. Nagi was born weak and small, so she always gave Erica worries. If Nagi got sick or hurt it took much more time than other children (of her age) to heal. She was timid and afraid of strangers so Erica couldn't use a babysitter. Last time she once used, the babysitter had called her that Nagi wouldn't stop crying all day. Erica didn't have a choice but to stay next to her daughter. Even when she was working as the actress last year, Nagi didn't want a babysitter and rather stay alone than being with a stranger. As Erica remembered all those stressful events she whispered to her sleeping friend.
"I guess you're right."
Suddenly Erica felt someone's eyes on her. She turned her head and found Nagi right next to her. Erica was almost shocked and started to panic inside her mind. How long have Nagi been next to her? Did she hear what her friend said and also her answer? Erica whispered, but was the whisper loud enough for the little girl to hear? Many thoughts came into Erica's mind and she couldn't know what to say to her daughter. However Nagi only looked at Erica for a moment and just walk away.
Can it be that Nagi didn't hear her answer to her friend? If a little child heard her mother saying that she didn't want her (even if it's true or not) the child will cry right away. However…Nagi wasn't like a normal child. Nagi was very patient unlike a 7 years old child, and sometimes even hide her emotions. Erica was confused. Did Nagi hear the conversation or is she just pretending she didn't? However if Nagi is pretending…
'It feels creepy…'
Erica couldn't help but suddenly feels creepy to her own child. Nagi wasn't acting…normal. And Erica didn't want her child to be an unordinary child. If people sees Nagi as an unordinary, weird child she might lose her fame. Erica looked around the banquet room for a while. Is there anyone who might see Nagi as a strange and creepy child? If so, Erica felt ashamed of Nagi.
As far as Erica could think and remember, that party was the start she began to feel Nagi as an irritating being. Probably because she finally had a huge success, and she wanted to continue her successful life. And that included having a successful child. However Nagi wasn't the successful child Erica wanted.
'Successful child? More like a show off…' Erica sneer to herself. Nagi was a sweet, kind and patient little girl who won't make any trouble. However at that time Erica couldn't see those things and only started to look at her grades. The fact that Nagi didn't have friends or was unsocial made Erica ashamed of her even more. Erica didn't notice the reason of Nagi's lacking confidence was because of her. She didn't give any love or attention to her little girl and even ignored her pleading for help. It was all her fault but Erica couldn't see that and blamed everything to her child.
'I hope this party will end as fast as it could.' Erica just wanted this damn party to end as fast as it could. It was pretty sure she won't enjoy it.
As the hours past, the people in the Vongola Famiglia got busy. The young Vongola Decimo was having a headache of which cloths he should wear and what to bring. Tsuna looked at the neckties on both of his hand.
"Kyoko, which ties do you think will look better?" Tsuna asked as he was solving a difficult math problem.
"I think the black one will look better on that suit. Here let me help you." Kyoko walked to her fiancé and started to tie the necktie around his neck. While she was tying, she noticed Tsuna looked tired. "What's the matter?"
"It just…I have a bad feeling about this. I have no intension on alliance with the Rango Famiglia. However I just don't know how to refuse it without provoking that stubborn pride Rango boss."
"Is it so hard to just refuse it?"
Even though Kyoko was the mafia strongest Famiglia's boss's lover, she wasn't related with the mafia much. Kyoko and Haru were almost like normal citizen. She didn't know the complication in the mafia world and also Tsuna and his Guardians didn't want Kyoko or Haru to get related deeper with the mafia.
"I'm afraid if I refuse, the Rango's boss will start a war with us… I don't want to make unnecessary war just because of someone's pride." Tsuna sighed and scratch his head. "Also… I hate parties."
Kyoko made a gentle smile. She knew Tsuna will have to make his appearance as a strong boss because of many people's eyes. Talking with countless of people with the topic he wasn't even interest and talking business he actually didn't want. Most of all, Tsuna hated when women comes to him for seduction. In the mafia party, it wasn't hard to see women seducing a high position man (like boss or Guardian) for hoping any benefit. Just being a mistress of the boss or Guardian, women can easily get authority and money. So it was almost natural for many women approaching to Tsuna or his Guardians even though it was clear they didn't like it.
"And I'm worried what the Rango's boss is planning. He will probably try to satisfy us by something to ally with us. However I keep having this…uneasy feeling about it."
"Does it have something to with your hyper intuition?"
"Maybe…" Tsuna sighed. He wasn't sure if this was just his feeling or he was trying to deny his hyper intuition.
"Don't worry. Everything will go fine." Kyoko gently kiss Tsuna at his cheek.
It made Tsuna feel better just to hear Kyoko's encouragement. Tsuna turned his head to kiss Kyoko too. However before Tsuna's lips almost touched Kyoko's, a loud sound outside the door made both of Tsuna and Kyoko stop.
"Don't you even dare to wear that stupid looking necktie!" It was haru voice.
"It's just a damn fabric around the neck! Do you have to bother with this tiny thing too?" Gokudera shouted in a very irritated voice.
"It's because that tie doesn't fit on you! Can't you just wait until I find you a suitable one? Learn to be patient!"
"You've been picking that damn fabric for an hour! I have already been patient enough!"
The yelling got smaller but Tsuna and Kyoko could still hear them arguing something. Tsuna just sighed. It wasn't weird for those two to yell whenever they are arguing. It seems like their own ways of conversation. Tsuna awkwardly scratch his head as the atmosphere was awkward to kiss Kyoko right now.
"Hey Tsu-kun don't you think Chrome is acting a bit weird recently?" Kyoko said to break this awkward situation.
"Well Chrome does always seem tired. I was thinking of giving her a vacation."
"It's not just the tiredness I'm worried about. I saw Chrome retch a few times."
"What?" Tsuna looked at Kyoko with surprised. He never heard about this. "Is she sick?"
"I don't know. I told her she should see the doctor. But Chrome said it was nothing. However I think she's also losing her appetite." Kyoko remembered giving her some chocolate cake which was one of Chrome's favorite. However Chrome refused it and she really looked like she didn't want it.
Tsuna was thinking serious about this. Chrome always seemed tired over a month and now she's losing appetite and retching? Even a child could see this isn't normal. Also Chrome usually doesn't express her pain or sickness to others. Does Mukuro know about this? For the few weeks Tsuna noticed Mukuro had opened up to Chrome. It was almost shock when Tsuna accidently heard Mukuro saying 'I love you' to Chrome on the hall when nobody was around. Not only Tsuna but also the Guardians had notice Mukuro's atmosphere had become very soft and caring toward Chrome.
If Mukuro had known about this he would had surly sent Chrome to a doctor. However as Tsuna remembered he had never gotten any reports from the medical team that his Mist Guardian came for a medical treatment. It meant Chrome was hiding this from Mukuro. But why? Is it some kind of a serious illness? Tsuna was now really worried for Chrome.
'But I'm pretty sure she won't see a doctor today. I should make her go to the clinic after the party is over.'
It won't hurt to delay just a few days, won't it?
While everyone was busy preparing for the party, Chrome was the only one who wasn't preparing. Instead Chrome was reading a book. Just seeing the cover, anyone could notice the book was information about pregnancy and raising a baby. It was already 2 hours since she started to read this book, however Chrome was too focused that she didn't know time had already past like that. Chrome could finally stop reading when she heard loud footsteps coming to her room. Chrome quickly hides her book under the sofa. As the door opens, Chrome felt like her heart was going to jump up from her chest.
"Hey, Chrome have you seen Mukuro-chan?" M.M. came inside. She was already wearing her red dress with high heels.
Chrome let out a relief sigh as she noticed it was only M.M. Beside Shamal, M.M. was the only person who knew Chrome was pregnant. M.M. raised one of her eyebrow, suspiciously looking at Chrome's expression.
"What are you hiding?" M.M. looked around Chrome and found a book peeking underneath the sofa. M.M. pulled out the book and looked at the cover. M.M. narrowed her eyes before giving the book back to her.
"Really…you wouldn't need to hide this if only you just tell Mukuro-chan." M.M. looked at Chrome like asking why you are doing such a pathetic thing.
"I know… It's just I don't know when's the best timing."
"There is no best timing! Look, every time Mukuro-chan is worried about your strange behavior, do you know it's a pain that I have to just shut my mouth?"
Usually M.M. wasn't a secret keeper. Instead she likes to tell people someone's secret. However even though she was having an itching tongue, M.M. knew this wasn't kind of topic to lightly tell anyone. Oh, but the pain to close her mouth.
Also it was very uncomfortable because M.M. was the only one who knew both about Mukuro's plan and Chrome's pregnancy. She knew if the plan keeps going on, both Mukuro and Chrome will only get hurt. Especially after Mukuro had realized his feeling toward Chrome. The worst scenario M.M. could think was Chrome realizing Mukuro's plan before she tells him the pregnancy.
"Tell him at the party. If you don't tell him before the party ends, then I'm going to tell him." M.M. pointed her finger at Chrome and said like she was threatening her. The party goes for 3 days so there was time for her to prepare. M.M. couldn't wait anymore. If she doesn't puss Chrome, then this stupid girl will keep delaying it. Then it might be too late.
"What?!" Chrome shouted in surprised. After she became a bit friend with M.M. she found herself sometimes shouting at her. Whether Chrome liked it or not M.M. was making her express more of her emotions…but irritating or surprising her. Chrome didn't like one bit of the idea M.M. giving her time limits and threatening her… However Chrome also knew she will keep delaying it if she doesn't get this kind of pressure. Chrome really didn't want Mukuro to hear about the pregnancy from other person, especially M.M.
Chrome knew it was no used of arguing with M.M. She could see M.M. had made up her mind, and M.M. was one of the stubbornness person Chrome knew. Chrome sighed in stress. Chrome wasn't sure if this was because of the pregnancy but she found herself getting easily stress than usually. Probably because of the fact she might have to raise the baby all by herself when she almost knows nothing about it.
"You should wear your dress now. Almost everyone is ready except you."
"Yeah… I know."
However Chrome really wasn't in the mood to go to the party. She was tired and just wanted to be left behind at the Vongola mansion. She even considered of lying that she felt ill and go to Dr. Shamal. Dr. Shamal will definitely give one of the hospital beds because he knew Chrome was pregnant and he always wanted a woman in the clinic. Chrome just had a weird and unpleasant feeling about the party. The feeling was so strong that Chrome couldn't just ignore it like it was nothing.
"Weren't you looking for Mukuro-sama?" Chrome asked M.M. to wash away her thoughts.
"Yes. I was going to ask a favor to make Ken quiet and just wear the suit. He had no idea what kind of big party we are going and he just want to wear his T-shirt!"
M.M. was actually thankful to Tsuna, because he also gave permission to the Kokuyo gangs to come to the party. However only M.M. was the only one who was in joy of it and the boys said they were only going because of Mukuro (And in Ken case also for food). M.M. happily began to think about the big party. It naturally made her make a huge smile on her face.
"You like parties?" Chrome asked, she noticed M.M. was thinking about the party.
"Of course. Meeting famous people, gourmet meal, and elegant ambience. I love those things."
Chrome made a bitter smile. Hearing M.M.'s reasons made her remember Erica. Erica also liked parties because of those reasons. Erica went to countless of parties when she was Nagi. However Chrome actually never liked parties. Full of strangers, uncomfortable attention from people, and the hidden fights of pride and sneer from the people eyes or talk. But most of all Nagi's first experience of a party was hurtful.
Chrome doesn't actually remember the details. She was only 7 years old back then and she didn't want to remember it. The most things Chrome could remember was tiredness of being in the adults parties for hours and the stranger giving attention to see the new superstar's daughter. When she was too tired Nagi went to search her mother. Chrome made a frown as she remember that event.
Nagi was searching for her mother but it was more difficult than she had expected. Her small legs couldn't walk as fast as an adult and it was confusing just to know where she was. There were too many adults and tables. Her height was small so she couldn't turn her head like the adults to find a person. The only way was to move around.
Finally which seemed like an hour, Nagi found her mother sitting in front of one of the table. Nagi hurried her tired legs to Erica. She extremely wanted a big warming huge from her mother. However Nagi slowed down as she realized her mother was talking to someone. Nagi remembered Erica teaching her it's rude to interrupt someone's conversation. Nagi decided to just quietly stand beside her mother until the conversation ends. However Nagi stopped in the middle when she heard her mother's friend's word.
"If it wasn't for…what was her name? Oh yes Nagi… If Nagi wasn't born then I'm pretty sure you would have become famous much earlier than this."
Nagi looked shock at the woman. What was she talking about? It was the first time she ever heard something like this, and it was painful to hear it. Nagi looked at her mother. She wanted Erica to be angry and scold her friend. Nagi wanted to be protected from those words. However unlike Nagi had hope, Erica was quiet for a moment and then spoke in a small voice.
"I guess you're right."
At that moment for the first time, Nagi had experiment what a broken heart is. Nagi was too shock to even breathe or move. All she wanted to do was cry out loud like any other children will do. Express her sadness and hurt, calling her mother for comfort. However before tears gather in her eyes Nagi stopped herself as she remembered her mother's words today.
'Please be a good girl today. This is important for mommy. Even if you're tired don't whine or cry in front of the people. Whatever happens be a patient good girl just for today.'
Nagi hold back her tears and tried to act like nothing happen. However her head was getting blur and it felt like her surrounding was twisting. She couldn't even clearly see her mother's face. Nagi slowly turned around and walk, searching for a place to hide and cry.
Nagi found a quiet place at the balcony. The outdoor air was quite chilly so it seems like no one was going to come here. Nagi lean against the wall and crouch down burying her face between her knees. A small sob started to break down.
Nagi didn't remember how long she had been crying. She had fallen asleep in the middle of crying. When she opened her eyes again she was in her bed. The next day Nagi heard from her mother that she was searching everywhere for her and been worry sick. A kind man had found her and brought her to her mother.
'Didn't you say you didn't want me?' Nagi thought but still smile when she knew her mother was worried about her. However the pain inside her heart still didn't disappear.
"It looks like you don't like parties?" M.M. looked at Chrome and noticed the fact she didn't like parties. Really this girl was easy to know what she was thinking.
"Huh? Ah…yeah, I don't." Chrome finally came out of her thoughts as she heard M.M. voice.
"Well why?"
"My first time in the party wasn't a pleasant memory." Chrome honestly said. She usually don't lie to people but somehow she found herself being more honest with M.M. Perhaps because being honest to her was making them closer.
"Hm… Tell me more about it." M.M. said. It sounded interesting.
"…My mother said something to her friend that…made me feel hurt. Also the party was clearly not for a 7 years old child." Chrome hides most of the details. She didn't like talking about her past when she lived as Nagi.
"Wait, 7 years old?!" M.M. shouted in surprised.
M.M expected Chrome's first party will be about 17 years old. This was when the Vongola Decimo started to lead the Vongola Famiglia as a real boss. However M.M. didn't even guess it would be way before that especially when she was just a young child.
"How did you go to a party when you're only seven?"
"My mother was one of the spotlights in that party. The invited guest could bring their family so my mother brought me too."
M.M. was almost speechless. Just what kind of life did Chrome have before she met Mukuro? Being a spotlight in the party meant Chrome's mother was famous or rich. Probably both. It was also surprising to see Chrome speaking of her past (which she never speaks of) for the second time to M.M.
"I'm starting to wonder who you really are." Who is she instead of Chrome Dokuro?
"It's only the past now. I actually don't want to remember it." Chrome slightly frowned. She could tell M.M. was now extremely curious of her past. Telling about her mother in the first place was a mistake.
'I'm thinking about her too much these days.' Chrome sighed. Normally Chrome doesn't think about Erica. Instead she avoids thinking about her. It was only a three or four times a year she even thinks about her like this. But now she finds herself thinking about Erica almost every day and even talks about her to Mukuro or M.M.
It was probably because of the pregnancy. Now in just a few more months, she is going to be a mother. And thinking about being a mother made Chrome think about Erica. To Chrome this wasn't a pleasant thing. For 10 years, she tried to forget her past as Nagi and also her mother. However starting from her birthday this year, dreaming of her loving mother, it seemed like Erica won't get out of her head. It was like Erica was coming back to her life again. Chrome really hated that thought. She doesn't want her mother back in her life again.
Hibari was already in his suit surprisingly ready to go the party. Normally Hibari won't go to a party even how much it is important. Even at the inherence ceremony (not the one 10 years ago but when Tsuna actually became the real boss when he was 18 years old.) he didn't intend to come. Not only the Decimo and his Guardians but also Nono had to come and persuade him. It was only Reborn who finally persuade him to go, because Hibari lose the fight with him which was a bet to go the inherence ceremony.
However this time Hibari had decided to go by his will. It wasn't because of the importance about this party but more for his personal curiosity. Hibari looked at his notebook which was playing a CCTV video a few weeks ago. It was the video of Chrome being attacked by men in the middle of the street. Hibari stopped the video when Chrome made fire pillars. Hibari stared at the fire pillars with serious eyes. The size and power of the fire pillars were way more big and powerful than the ones Chrome could originally make.
At first Hibari didn't like the mission that herbivore(Tsuna) gave. It felt like he was doing Mukuro's clean up. If Mukuro didn't kill those hitmans then he wouldn't have been wasting his time searching for those clueless hitmans. He only took this mission because the herbivore told him he won't stop a fight next time when he fights with Mukuro.
However when Hibari was investigating the event, an unexpected interesting thing had caught his eyes. The CCTV video showed Chrome using very powerful illusion even able to be recorded on a camera. A machine was able to sense Chrome's illusion and this meant the illusion was actually almost real. Most illusionists could never become that level. The level was just too high for normal illusionist. It just didn't need sustained efforts but also natural talent. And if Hibari wasn't wrong, Chrome's talent wasn't this high. She would need at least five more years to reach to this level.
But unlike Hibari had predicted, Chrome's illusion had suddenly become way much stronger.
What is the trick behind this? Hibari wasn't underestimating Chrome. It was actually the opposite. He knew she always train hard to become stronger and Hibari had to admit she was much better than most of the other illusionist he had met. In a few more years, he was waiting to have a fight with her when she reaches the world class illusionist. However Chrome suddenly made a world class illusion somehow. He could dare say her illusion might be even more powerful than Mukuro.
'Is she training with him?' Hibari shook his head. Every time when he sees Mukuro or Chrome, they were always together. However they were never training with each other. Those two herbivores were too busy dating.
At first Hibari expected Mukuro was on to something when he suddenly came to Chrome and started dating with her. Hibari had also sneer to Chrome inside his mind why that woman was too blind to see he was here only to use her again. It actually made Hibari feel pity toward her because he knew how hard she had gone through 10 years ago when that bastard abandoned her.
However to Hibari's surprise, Mukuro had actually fallen in love with her. Just a few weeks ago his attitude toward Chrome had changed much softer and caring that everyone could see Mukuro was in love with her. Even a blind person could know those two were love birds. What just made that bastard suddenly change? Hibari was extremely curious but right now the most thing he wanted to know is why Chrome had suddenly became a very powerful illusionist all of a sudden.
This was why Hibari was going to the party. The simplest and fastest way was just asking her. However she was always with Mukuro and Mukuro was really a disrupter. Mukuro was actually possessive toward Chrome but after Mukuro was truly in love with Chrome; his possessive toward her had gotten stronger. He even hates when Chrome talks to another man. Last time when Hibari was only simply going to ask Chrome, he almost ended up fighting with Mukuro going for the other's life. Tsuna and his Guardian had a hard time separating those two blood thirsty demons.
This was not the time to fight. He will bite that pineapple illusionist to death when he will get that promise nobody will disturb his fight with Mukuro. And for that he has to finish the mission. At the party even the possessive Mukuro couldn't act too suborn when men talks to her. He will make his chance to speak quietly asking why she was suddenly so strong and if she knew any clue who those hitmans were.
Suddenly Hibari made a large grin. He suddenly had an idea of speaking quietly with Chrome and make the pineapple very, very pissed in front of him.
"This could be fun."
Mukuro was feeling uncomfortable. He was feeling guilt toward Chrome. He had tricked her and was using her for his plan to find the Estraneo Famiglia. Even though he was now truly in love with Chrome, he wasn't sure if he should stop the plan or not. He couldn't stop because of all those hardship he and the Kokuyo gangs had to go through to find the Estraneo Famiglia for 10 years. Also his hatred toward them still existed. However he was now feeling guilty of using Chrome again and this plan can seriously get Chrome hurt.
The night when he truly confessed his love to her, he realized how much pain he had given to her when he abandoned her and was only using her. If she knew Mukuro had used her again it was no doubts Chrome will be heartbroken again. Also she might think Mukuro was fooling with her emotion again. Mukuro didn't…never wanted that to happen.
Mukuro was even questioning himself if the plan will really work. If Chrome is his lover then the Estraneo Famiglia will surly try to kidnap or kill Chrome because they also want revenge. That actually worked. A few weeks ago the members of the Estraneo Famiglia had attacked Chrome. However unlike the next plan to capture at least one of them and figuring out where the others are hiding, Mukuro had killed every one of them.
At the time when he saw those Estraneo Famiglia's members trying to hurt Chrome, all he could feel was anger and worry. The plan was erased inside his head. All he could think of was protecting Chrome and kill those who had dare to hurt her. Mukuro wasn't sure if he will stick to the plan next time if this happens again. No, it was pretty sure he will kill all of them again. So, if the plan using Chrome as bait won't work…shouldn't he just throw away this plan?
However this wasn't the thing what was making Mukuro feel most bad and also self-hatred. His conscience was hurting him from lying from Chrome. It felt like he would at least feel a little better if he tells her the truth of lying and using her as bait. He wanted to be honest with her now. He was sick and tired of hiding his truth to Chrome. Oh, but it felt like a hell to even tell her about the truth of his plan! He might hurt Chrome again. However if she figures out this all by herself it was sure she will be hurt broken. And Mukuro never want that to happen again.
'That dream had surly change me…' Mukuro mentally sigh.
It was even a miracle for him to even think like this. For almost all his life he only thinks about himself and rarely thinks about others. He sometimes cares about the Kokuyo gang but always had reason for himself. However this time this was only for Chrome.
"Before the party ends I should tell her the truth."
He just wished he won't keep hesitate until it was too hate.
Erica looked around the banquet. It was extremely large able for hundreds of people to come. The foods on the table smelled wonderful and even looked delicious. There was also classic music already playing. It was still a bit early but people who were invited were kept coming, filling the banquet. The people looked excited and could easily see them greeting and giving gifts to the Rango's boss.
'The Rango Famiglia must be really powerful…' Erica thought as she saw some famous person or politician giving gifts to Marco. These people only come if the party host was rich or powerful. And Erica could easily guess these people came because the Rango Famiglia was powerful.
If Erica wasn't forced to come here by the Rango Famiglia, she would have believed this party was host by a famous politician. Wasn't mafia a criminal? However none of the people looked concerned about it. Instead Erica could hear some of the politicians giving thanks of the help last time to Marco. It looked like the mafia had much more influence in society and political world than Erica had ever imagined. Maybe at the time when she loved to go to parties, some of them were host by the mafia but she just didn't notice it.
"You don't look excited. I thought you liked parties?" Hiroto said, walking towards Erica.
Erica didn't hide her frown. Why won't he just leave her alone? It was very clear she didn't like his presence. However it looked like Hiroto didn't mind at all.
"Why are you keep coming to me?" Erica's voice had venom in it.
"Well I thought you wanted some company. After all you don't know anyone in this party and you must be uncomfortable because of the mafias."
Hiroto's words weren't wrong. Erica did want someone's company because she felt lonely and also uncomfortable. Most of the guests were mafias and some actually looked dangerous. It would be a great help if there was anyone she knew and was friendly. However that didn't mean she wanted her ex-husband next to her side.
"I would rather be alone inside the mafia than being next to you." It was the truth without any bluff.
Hiroto looked a bit stunned as he didn't expected Erica's attitude would be this stubborn. Normal people will want some comfort from someone they knew if they were in Erica's position. Hiroto sighed as he knew why his ex-wife didn't want to be near him.
"Can't you just get over with the thing about your daughter? It already pasted 10 years. I divorced with you because you wanted it so badly and it looked like you would have killed me if I didn't agree divorcing you. However I thought if time goes by you would notice your mistake and…"
"Notice my mistake?! Did you expect me to come back to you after what you done to Nagi? My mistake was that I couldn't see what kind of person you really were and started an affair with you." Erica growled at Hiroto. She wanted to shout loudly at him but she wasn't foolish to do that in this party.
"Look…can't we just start all over again? You won't want to live the rest of your life alone?"
Erica felt something suspicious. Why was he suddenly acting like this? It can't be because he really wanted to start all over and recover their relationship. He never connected her for 10 years until he suddenly came with Marco.
"I will rather live my life alone until I die." Erica said and turned around walking away from Hiroto.
As Erica walked farther from Hiroto suddenly she felt a pain coming from her chest. Erica stopped as she saw no one was near her.
'I will rather live my life alone until I die.'
Erica made a bitter smile. She was actually afraid of living alone until she dies. Erica didn't like the loneliness even though she chose it. She was living alone for 10 years but she never got used to that loneliness. Sometimes she was scared when she was in that large house all by herself at night. Erica missed the family warmth she once felt a long time ago. If Nagi was still alive then the house wouldn't have feel so cold or empty. Erica wondered how it will feel if she could live with Nagi again.
If there really was a miracle she wished she had another chance to live with Nagi again and recover her mistakes and the relation with her daughter. But Erica knew this miracle can't ever happen because Nagi is dead.
Suddenly Erica noticed the people in the banquet were all looking somewhere and whispering. Most of them look surprised and some looked nervous or excited. Suddenly one of the Rango's member who was guarding the door announce in a loud voice.
"The Vongola Famiglia Decimo and his Guardians have arrived!"
