Leo

So I met my dad. So we learned Grace was a champion of the gods. So that champion of the gods died and came back to life. So what?

Confusion, that's what.

"Oh my gosh. Are you alright?" Piper blurted after she hugged her half sister.

"Yeah- I think." Grace blinked rapidly a few times. "I saw the guy with curly black hair again."

"What?" Piper asks blankly.

"You know. The guy I could remember, but I knew him from somewhere? I saw him. He was about to hit me with this enormous sword..."

For the first time I realized how much younger than us she was.

"Who was it?"

"I- I don't know. Why can't I remember?" She groaned with frustration.

"Don't worry. You'll remember." Piper assured her. But I wasn't too sure.

I got this sinking feeling that I knew who the man was. But I didn't say anything. Annabeth got us worried about where we were going next. She was repeating the prophecy over and over.

In the end we split up. I was concerned that no monsters had shown up yet, but I watched as the three girls left, leaving me with Leo.

We encountered our first monster as soon as we got out onto the street.

"She's not here to protect you anymore, is she?" A snake headed lady cackled.

"Um, who?" Leo asked, then yelled and ducked as a silver plate sliced the air above where his head had been.

"Don't play dumb, boy!" A gorgon shrieked, and the snakes in her hair hissed. Leo ducked again as the plate soared past, acting like a boomerang. The monster caught it.

I unsheathed my sword and the lady backed up. My Stygian Iron always had a satisfying effect on monsters. She blocked with her plate as I swung the blade down. It sliced the tin in half and she shrieked as it cut her arm. Her eyes glinted dangerously.

"Hey lady!" Leo's hands blazed with uncontrolled fire and I stepped away from him as sparks flew in his hair. The gorgon looked terrified for a moment, then spread her wings.

They were tiny and pathetic, but somehow they carried her up and away, shrieking the entire time. Leo looked at me, mystified. Then he shrugged and we continued to head down the street.

...

Annabeth and Piper were concerned that no monsters were coming for them. Normally there were a lot of attacks in a group of demigods this big.

Grace wasn't concerned, she was talking cheerily. "I wonder how old I am. Not sure when my birthday is. I hope I'm fourteen instead of thirteen. It's better to be older, I guess and- Holy Hephaestus that is one ugly lady."

Annabeh was about to reprimand her for her language until she saw what the girl was talking about. The ugly lady had snakes for hair. And she was currently high tailing it down the street. She seemed scared, of something.

"Another one!"

A second snake lady swooped down and followed her sister, just as quickly. She was shrieking and sporting a deep cut down her arm. The blood was dripping down.

Piper had a vague feeling that she should collect it, then waved the idea away. That was stupid.

Annabeth wondered why the gorgons weren't coming back to attack them.

Grace wasn't worrying about anything at all.
