What you keep alive
A/N: I'm slightly upset that keriababe2010 wouldn't tell me the idea she had for this, so I have no idea how this will turn out. It was so hard to think of an idea for this, and if I hadn't said it before: It's okay to ask questions; I don't bite.
Coolest Daddymon: Thanks, hopefully you'll stick with this until I'm finished with it. Also, Shadow's German. If you want to learn more about him, it's cool to ask questions. I will answer them.
Jazzy: I know, of course Shadow's a stubborn dork most of the time, so it's rare he says stuff like that out loud instead of thinking it and it's the cutest thing ever.
Jodi's POV
I barely had time to react before I saw it. I don't even know what that thing is. I froze, letting a small gasp pass by before being pressed to my son in law's chest. A few moments of silence passed after I was let go, and there was blood on the floor? There's blood on the floor!
"Are you okay?" Shadow rasped, sitting up against the wall.
I nodded, sitting beside him as he clenched the wound on his stomach. What kind of question is that? How is he not…
"I'll be fine." He said suddenly, struggling to keep his eyes open. "It'll heal. Glad you're not freaking out."
"You're jokin'. C'mon, we'll get'cha patched up real nice." I replied, putting his arm around my shoulder and dragging him to his feet.
Sandy should have something to help.
"Like I said, I'm fine. Look, there's no wound." He said, leaning off me with the oddest smile ever.
I guess that's because I've never seen him smile before. Wait, there's no wound. It actually healed.
"But how? That ain't even possible." I screamed, jumping away from him.
He huffed, saying, "It's not important."
He's weirder than I thought; how did my daughter marry him again?
"By the way, what was that thing that attacked?" I asked, bringing back the situation at hand. I clearly could've died.
He looked away, rubbing the back of his neck. "Not important."
He can't be serious. Nonetheless I repeated, "What was that?"
"Ah, it was just something dealing with my father. It's been happening for a while now, and…" He stopped, glancing at me then returning his gaze back to the floor. "Never mind, I'd hate to upset you."
He's always doing that when I'm here. Being careful about speaking. I'm more upset that he isn't telling me; Sandy should know. Turning away from him, I stalked towards the lab's door, not surprised it was locked.
Looking into a small hole, I stepped back as the door opened; opens with eye color, how convenient. Crossing the room, I plopped into a chair, watching as she flipped through a book or notes; I couldn't tell.
"Yes, ma?" She questioned, setting whatever papers, she was reading, down to look at me.
"I have a question. Shadow won't tell me; how is he able to heal himself?"
She smiled, hopping from her seat and dashing to the back, yelling, "I'll go get the chart."
What does she mean by...
"See, Shadow can only heal himself because of his genetics. It might take some time, but he rarely uses the healing pods I made." Sandy started, pointing to various graphs and pictures. "It also depends on how much damage his body took. The more damage, the more time it takes to heal and vice versa. It's weird, but it also depends on the size. Surprisingly, the bigger the wound is, it actually closes faster."
And I thought I had too much time on my hands, well, at least I know most of his abilities. I don't think I want to learn about that thing just yet. It's better if I just wait until he's ready to tell because I don't think I can take much more of this chart.
A/N: I never spoke about the chart because nothing came up about it until now. Basically it's a chart Sandy came up with the keep track of Shadow and his present abilities. Of course that meant: Research on his Chaos powers, limitations, genetics, and very awkward conversations. I'd tell you more, but I'll save that for another time.
