Chapter 10 : Epilogue/A Week Later

Curt Connors returned home from work. Entering the house, he looked around and saw his wife.

"Curt," Martha said, approaching her husband and embraced him.

"Hi dear," Curt said, returning the hug.

"What's wrong?"

Curt grimaced. "I just found out that Mary Jane Parker was sent to a psychiatric ward."

"Why?" Martha asked. "Didn't you say she was cured?"

"Physically she's cured and won't become a monster again," Curt explained grimly. "But emotionally she's still a mess. I think becoming a spider creature took a toll on her."

"That poor girl." Martha whispered sadly.

"Yes." Curt agreed, equally sad.

In a recreation room, were people engaging in various activities. They wore the uniforms of Asylum patients. A few guards were nearby, watching the activities. Sitting in a chair was Mary Jane, sitting doing nothing.

The past few weeks had been hard. The loss of her husband and the horror of becoming a monster had been terrible. Though she got cured, her life was a shambles. She had gotten bills she couldn't pay for her house. She had lost her job for poor performances and disrespect towards her bosses. Rumors had circulated around her. Authorities eventually decided that she needed help and was sent to this place. She personally didn't care, wishing to escape her pain.

Just then a doctor approached her followed by two people. "You have visitors, Miss Parker." The doctor told her.

MJ looked up sadly and her eyes widen. "Harry? Liz?"

"Hi MJ." Harry said, looking kindly at his old friend.

"How are you doing?" Liz asked carefully.

Mary Jane snorted. "I'm a lunatic. How do you think?"

Liz winched.

Harry looked sympathetically at his old friend. "It's hard, isn't it?"

Mary Jane glared at Harry and then felt her throat tightened. She recalled Peter telling her that Harry had gone insane. She had been trapped in another dimension at the time and had to be informed of it and a number of other things she missed while trapped.

"MJ, listen," Liz said ympathetically, "Harry understands what you're going through. I may not be able to empathize. But I can sympathize."

Tears appeared in Mary Jane's eyes. "My life is over."

"I thought my life was over too, MJ," Harry reminded her. "After you…" He paused, thinking his words carefully and decided to not mention their breakup. "When my father was gone; my life was in the dumps. Then I became the Green Goblin and did some terrible things. Liz helped me out during that time."

MJ stared at Harry, her blue eyes full of pain. "How did you get better?"

Harry looked hesitated. "Well therapy, time and my friends were there for me. Liz was a big help when I was in that bad place."

Mary grimaced.

"MJ, listen to me," Harry continued, "trauma is like getting amputated: you heal but your never the same. I still have problems to work through to this day."

Mary Jane looked away. "I miss Peter."

"He was very lucky to have you," Harry assured the redhead.

"MJ, you're not alone," Liz reminded the redhead. "We're your friends. And we're here if you ever need us."

Despite the emotional trauma she was in, Mary Jane Parker felt hope. She eyed the old friends she had driven away when Peter had died. She knew she would have to reconnect. "So are you two a couple?"

Liz looked sheepish. "Maybe."

"We're still working through some things." Harry explained, looking sheepish. "I'm still not ready to be the man Liz deserves."

"Harry is making an effort," Liz told MJ. "He wants to be better man."

"Yes," Harry agreed, looking like he had come from a battle.

Mary Jane eyed Liz and Harry. She knew she had a long hard road ahead of her. But maybe she could get through this just like Harry got through his hard time.

The End

.

Author note by Data Seeker. Now we have reached the official end of this fic.

I prefer happy endings but considering that Mary Jane had suffered so much with Peter's death and becoming a monster, I figured she wouldn't be alright.

But I like to leave hints that she can recover and she isn't alone.

I hope you enjoyed this fic. God bless.

Author note by : From beginning to end, I aimed that this story would have a sad ending. Even if she recovers, having such terrible experiences leaves scars on personality and on life. We tried to make the drama as high as possible and now I see we did a good job. I hope you too enjoyed this fic. Do not hesitate to make reviews. See you later!

And a personal thanks to Data Seeker. This will be my first and possibly only fic. He gets the core ideas and made them perfect as much as he can.
