Kurt started to feel himself coming to, becoming painfully aware of the empty space next to him where a certain curly-haired boy should be. He peeled open his lids to see rumpled bedding and no Blaine. Kurt sat up, looking over to see that the bathroom door was open and no one was inside. The light outside had vanished, washing the room in darkness. Kurt ripped off the sheets and stumbled out of his room, glancing towards the hall bathroom before rushing down the stairs as quietly as he could.

A pair of headlights filtered through the sheers in the den. Kurt ran towards the door wrenching it open to see a large, unfamiliar truck idling in the driveway. He tried to look past the bright headlights, but he couldn't see the driver. Cautiously, he took a few steps forward. He flinched when the passenger side door was thrown open. Something was thrown out of the vehicle, landing in a heap on the concrete. "Told you not to tell anyone Hummel. You're next." A deep voice called over the engine, a voice that was unmistakably Karofsky's. The truck pulled out of the driveway, screeching down the streets away from the house. With wide eyes, Kurt bolted over to the unmoving form.

It was Blaine. Only his face was mangled and unrecognizable. Kurt shook him, his eyes becoming blurred with the tears, "Blaine!" He cried out, not wanting to believe the sight in front of him was real, "Please, no. NO!" Kurt sobbed, falling to the cold concrete next to his love, "No." He whimpered, taking Blaine's arm and wrapping it around him, trying to hold on though he knew there was no point. Blaine was gone, his arm was dead weight across his waist. Karofsky had killed him. Kurt should have tried to stop Blaine when he knew he'd go after him. He shouldn't have let him out of his sight.

"Kurt." Kurt cried harder, imagining Blaine's voice in his head, "Baby, wake up." Oh, how Kurt wished this was a dream. He looked at Blaine's bloodied face only to see his honey colored eyes staring back at him, "Wake up." He said.

Kurt startled awake, his breathing hitching as tears started to pour out of his eyes. Blaine was hovering over him, his face contorted with worry, "Babe?"

"Oh God," Kurt cried, lunging forward and wrapping his arms around his neck, sobbing into his chest,

"It's okay, Kurt. It's okay. It was only a nightmare." Blaine soothed, moving to the side so he could lay back down. Kurt moved so he was curled up against him, feeling his shirt become wet with his tears. He knew it was irrational to be so upset over a nightmare, but it felt so real. Especially since the situation could be real. What if Blaine had snuck out to go and confront Karofsky? It certainly seemed like something Blaine would do. Kurt couldn't let him do it. He just couldn't.

"I love you, Blaine." Kurt whispered into his neck.

"I love you too, Kurt." Blaine responded, sounding a bit bewildered. "Want to tell me what that was about?" Kurt shook his head, burying himself deeper into Blaine's side, breathing in the scent that could only be classified as Blaine. "Go back to sleep, babe."

Kurt sighed, "I-I don't think I could even if I wanted to." He said.

Blaine yawned loudly, "Want to go watch some TV?" He asked tiredly.

Kurt pulled away, looking down at his sleepy boyfriend who was struggling to keep his eyes open, "You go sleep. I'm just going to go get something to drink."

Blaine let his fingers spider over the sheets until they reached Kurt's hand. He squeezed it gently, "You sure, babe?" His eyes were already shut.

"I'm sure." Kurt said, but Blaine's breathing had already evened out. He looked over at the clock to see it was one in the morning. Kurt ran a hand through his hair before sitting up and getting out of bed. He crept down the stairs, trying to make as little noise as possible.

Some noises were coming from the kitchen, so he cautiously turned the corner only to see Finn with half his body in the refrigerator. Kurt bit back a laugh at his eternally hungry stepbrother before making his presence known with a knock to the doorframe. Finn popped his head out, a half eaten piece of ham between his teeth. He couldn't help it. Kurt started laughing at the dazed look on his brother's face. When he finally got control of himself, Finn gave him a strange look before smiling goofily at him, "Want some ham?" He offered. Kurt declined with the shake of his head. He then realized Finn probably hasn't heard him laugh in a very long time. Kurt was glad he didn't make a big deal out of it. Kurt moved past him, reaching into the fridge to pull out a package of sliced cheese, butter, and bread. He nudged Finn, raising a questioning eyebrow. "Grilled cheese?" Finn asked excitedly. Kurt rolled his eyes and nodded, starting to butter the bread as Finn went over and turned on the griddle.

"Mom and Burt said Blaine is here." Finn started, trying to act casual, though Kurt could pick up the unasked questions in his tone. Kurt nodded his head as he flipped one of the sandwiches over, pleased at the golden brown color he'd achieved, "And he's sleeping in your room with you?" Kurt huffed, looking at Finn, willing him to get to the point, "Are you two dating?" Finally. Kurt nodded, flipping the other sandwich. They were silent for a few minutes while Finn went and poured two glasses of orange juice. Kurt took the two grilled cheeses off the griddle and put them on two separate plates before setting one in front of Finn and one on the opposite side of the table. Smiling, he went and grabbed the ketchup bottle. Finn eagerly shook the bottle and squeezed some on his plate before handing the ketchup to Kurt to do the same. "Is he good to you?" Finn asked around a mouthful of grilled cheese and ketchup. Kurt held up a hand and clamped his fingers together to signal for Finn to not speak with food in his mouth. Finn swallowed before speaking again, "So, is he?" Kurt flushed lightly, thinking about how absolutely loving his boyfriend is. He nodded once again. Finn seemed to be considering something for a moment before smiling, "Good. If he makes you happy, then I'm happy." He stated, finishing up his sandwich and standing up. Kurt stood too and walked over to Finn, pulling him into a hug. Finn returned it, "I love you, bro. But if he hurts you, I'm going to kick his ass." Kurt pulled away and slapped his arm lightly, smirking, "I'm serious, dude. Anyway, I'm gonna hit the sack." Kurt gave an awkward wave goodbye, since he couldn't say goodnight, as Finn went back up to his room.

Kurt went and sat back down in front of his plate, starting to finish his grilled cheese. As much as he loved seeing his family, he really wanted to go back to Dalton. It was like a safe haven that belonged to just Blaine and him.

Kurt looked up when he heard the shuffling of feet coming around the corner. He's assumed it was Finn, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was Blaine, rubbing his eyes and looking much younger than his years, "You're still up, babe?"

"Finn and I had some grilled cheese." Kurt supplied when Blaine came over and sat on top of him. Kurt let out a huff, "Can I help you with something?"

Blaine shrugged, picking up Kurt's grilled cheese and taking a huge bite out of it, "Well, there is this one thing." He spoke nonchalantly as he grinded his ass down, creating friction on his already half-hard member.

Kurt groaned, letting his forehead fall onto Blaine's back, "My dad already heard us before, Blaine. C-can't –shit." Kurt cursed lowly when Blaine got up and straddled him properly, attaching his lips right below his earlobe, "Blaine." Kurt whined, not wanting to face his father's wrath at them disobeying. "Not here."

Blaine let out an annoyed growl, sitting back, "Fine. But once we get back to Dalton, I'm going to ravish you." He stated grandly.

"I have no doubt." Kurt smirked, letting his confidence come out of his protective cage.

Blaine's eyes darkened, but he restrained himself, standing up and holding out a hand for Kurt, "Come on." Kurt took his hand and the two went back to Kurt's room, getting back in bed.

Kurt lay awake, not wanting himself to fall back to sleep. He was so afraid of the nightmares coming back… Blaine must have sensed he was still awake because he tapped his arm lightly, "Still awake, babe?"

Kurt nodded against his chest, "I don't want to have another nightmare."

Blaine didn't say anything for a moment before he started to hum. Kurt instantly recognized the song, smiling as Blaine began to sing the lyrics lightly in his ear, holding him close.

If you need anything,

Just the say the word.

I mean anything.

Rest assured, if you start to doze,

Then I'll tuck you in,

Plant my lips where your necklaces close.

While you were sleeping

I figured out everything,

I was constructed for you,

And you were molded for me.

Now I feel your name,

Coursing through my veins.

You shine so bright it's insane,

You put the sun to shame.

Oh

If you need anything,

Just the say the word.

I mean anything. (I really do)

Rest assured, if you start to doze,

Then I'll tuck you in,

Plant my lips where your necklaces close.

Kurt smiled, being lulled to sleep by Blaine's voice. No nightmares plagued his mind that night.

Another short-ish chapter. So, there wasn't a cliffhanger, but I was particularly evil in the beginning. Let me know what you thought! There will be more plot development in the next chapter. :)
