And just like that they left their human bodies behind and became their former selfes . It was only when they broke the kiss and stared at each other that they realised they were back to normal . A gasp of schock was fallowed by a sigh of both fell on the ground , Sonic laughing and Shadow staring at him with a tad of joy,but also some sorrow. Sonic noticed that and stopped laughing. He was now looking directly into Shadow's eyes.

"What's wrong?"he said "Aren't you glad be back to normal?"

"Yeah, I am reliefed that we got back to normal , but…" Shadow's words trailed off as his gaze met the ground.

"What's wrong?" said Sonic , gently touching the others hand.

A few moments of silence passed by , but Shadow eventually answered , hesitation filling his voice.

"It's just … I'm not sure … I just thought going back to normal also meant … going back to what was before…" Shadow's eyes did not leave the ground.

Sonic understood what he meant.

"Shadow…" said Sonic, his experssion drowning in sadness. He reached for Shadow's other hand and pulled him into a warm hug.

"There's no way we are going back to that! We are friends now…"

Shadow was a little surprised by the sudden embrace, however he did not pull out of the hug, instead , he gave in to the warmth of Sonic.

"And maybe even more…" continued Sonic , giving Shadow a quick peck on the lips before helping the other up.

Shadow was now sure that what they felt for each other was no lie, it was the truth . And there was no going back. Not now.

"And what the hell just happened!?" yelled Sonic as he stretched his arms up in the air "How did we get back to normal all of a sudden ?"

"I don't know either , but maybe…" said Shadow stopping mid-sentence.

"Maybe~?" said Sonic teasing the other.

"Maybe it was the kiss?" answer Shadow , questioning what he himself had just said.

"Yeah ! Let's call it … hmm … True Love's Kiss!" said Sonic with a large smile on his face.

Shadow blushed at the sound of Sonic's words. To him , something like that seemed so unnatural . But it was true. The kiss broke the spell.

"But wait , we have kissed before, just a couple of minutes ago…" said Sonic putting on a thoughtfull face.

"That's right " Shadow was a little surprised . Was it not that kiss?

"Ah~wait…" said Sonic scratching the back of his head "You didn't quite like the first one . You tried to push me away."

Sonic was now pouting. "I guess I didn't satisfy you enough~"

Shadow's face has then become a strong shade of red .He felt so embarassed , he was gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. He smacked Sonic on the back of his head.

"Ouch!" said Sonic rubbing his head.

"Don't say it like that! I just wasn't ready!" they were both left wide eyed because of what Shadow had just said.

Shadow lowered his head , felling his cheecks burn while Sonic was loudly laughing. After Sonic finished laughing and wiped a tear away he continued:

"Man , you are so cute when you say things like that!" Sonic gave Shadow a honest smile.

"Shut up…" said Shadow trying to look away. However , he said exactly what had just happened. He wasn't ready for all of that . He had to understand what he himself felt. And then he did.

"Well I'm glad that now we get each other better,don't you agree?"

"Yeah…I'm glad" answered lowered his gaze once again

"I really am " Shadow gave a little smile.

Sonic's heart melted at the other's show of affection. He embraced him once more.

"I love you" he wispered into the others ear. Shadow closed his eyes and buried his head in the others shoulder.

"I love you too" he said softly , whispeing as well.

Shadow rose his head and looked at Sonic who was wearing a playfull smile.

"Oh! That means we should get back and see what the others are doing!" said Sonic , having a relevation.

Shadow bit his lip as he remembered the others seeing their first kiss. But it was alright . He knew he had nothing to fear.

"That's right . I should get going as well. Rouge and Eggman are waiting for me" said Shadow looking at the sky . He stepped past Sonic , but his hand got caught by another one.

"Shadow…" Sonic said in a sad tone.

Shadow looked back at him ,fearing he was upset about their opened his mouth as to question what was going on but he was cut off by the other's cheerfull tone:

"Sonic , I…"

"Take care of yourself ! I know you don't need me to tell you this , but remember that I too will be sad if something were to happen to you!"

Sonic was wearing the kindest smile as he let go of Shadow's hand.

Shadow was shocked at the other's reaction . But then he gave a small smile saying:

"Don't worry. I'm not that weak. However , you should take care of yourself " said Shadow teasing the other.

"Hey! That's mea~n!" said Sonic in a playfull both chuckeled at the situation. For one last time ,they locked their gaze and shared a fist bump.

"See ya , Shads!"

"See ya, Sonic"

They knew that their day together as humans showed each other a lot about themselves. Their adventure made them discover a lot about each other , including that they loved each other.

However , they were both sure as hell that this will not be their last adventure together.
