A/N: Dedicated to a stranger who took the time. I am sorry for the delay, but I got confused with all the suggestions you people were giving me. I would like for you to continue giving me suggestions though, I think I am now at a stage where I can handle criticism without being overtly swayed by them. It took alot of trying to realize I should stick with my style and story and try to make it as foolproof as possible. The secret was to convey your desire for the story to the readers, not the other way around. So..you might at times hate the story alot of times, and I could only beg you to keep on reading. Now, I have tweaked the first and eighth chapter a tiny little bit that would bring bigger waves to the later chapters, but you don't need to read the first chapter if you are feeling too lazy, its a very tiny change, although possibly a large one if you are considering the plot, but you would eventually know of it either way in later chapters. Now those things aside, I wanted to warn you that this story is going to take a relatively AU turn from here on out so expect anything. Thank you alot for taking the time to read my fic. Pleas continue to give your criticism and thoughts.

*Check out the prologue, that is the only update for now currently.*

Albus Dumbledore sat in his chair looking sternly at the young boy standing before him. They were in the headmaster's office.

"I hope you realize the graveness of situation here Adam. Aside from the brilliant stroke of luck fate had bestowed upon you, I see no other reason why you should be standing here alive." Professor Dumbledore told him in an even tone.

"I know sir." Adam stated.

"Where was your cloak…or your mirror?" Professor asked him.

Adam looked up defiantly at his headmaster. "This is ridicuous sir! How could I have expected trolls to enter Hogwarts like that!" he asked in exasperation.

The Professor sighed. "You know of the Prophesy now Adam. Tell me, do you think my concern for you hinges upon that piece of prediction made all those years ago?" he asked tiredly, standing up and moving towards him.

"Urm…" Frankly, Adam thought of it as exactly that way. Why else would a man of his stature and repute care for him?

Professor Dumbledore came nearer and bent his tall frame down in front of Adam so that he was sitting on his knees, eyes on equal level with that of Adam's.

"Adam…it is true that we were acquitted through the matters of this war, but a relationship is one of those precious few things that discards its foundations and draws its conclusion from its summit. I wish you would understand that someday." He said lightly ruffling his red mane in affection. "I worry for you Adam. Irrespective of our pasts and standings, I am a person that has grown to love you dearly through all the hardships we have borne together."

Adam looked at him guiltily. "I know sir…but I had for once thought I would be entirely safe in Hogwarts. After going through all those close shaves, I am frankly getting more annoyed than afraid from all these!"

Professor Dumbledore smiled understandingly at him. "I know, even I held a faint hope you might have a normal childhood for once Adam. But one thing this incident has taught both of us if nothing else is that we should always be wary and on our toes in matters that concern you and Voldemort."

Adam sighed. So much for dreaming of fun and comfort.

"Listen well Adam. No matter what happens, never forget that there are people who love you dearly and would always support you in every ordeal you face. You are not alone." Professor Dumbledore told him firmly and resolutely.

Adam smiled at that. "I know." His face then dawned a worried look. "What about mom? How..how did she react?" Adam was afraid to even let himself know.

"Your parents are waiting for you at home. You are leaving for the Haven in an hour. Its better you find that out yourself"

"What!" Adam exclaimed in horror.

Professor Dumbledore gave out a chuckle. "You would be back here soon. They just wanted to see you. They know how much this means to you Adam."

Adam felt a wave of relief.

"There is one more thing Professor.."

"You have my ears." Professor said as he went back to his seat behind the table.

"It wasn't luck that saved us from the trolls there…" Adam said with a frown that told how furiously his mind was trying to grasp something that he can't even begin to understand in the first place.

Professor Dumbledore raised an eyebrow inquisitively at him. "What do you mean Adam?"

"Harry Dursley. He..he is a slytherin, but…..I don't know…..he was just so good at handling the situation back there..it was like..he was the one training like mad all these years and fighting the Death Eaters, not me! Can you believe that he is a muggleborn to top it all of? He had only known magic for a couple of months, and he is already this good!" Adam confessed in frustration. "How is that even possible?"

Professor looked carefully at him over his halfmoon spectacles. "It is always hard to admit the strength of others might and can surpass that of yours Adam, but it is even more excruciating to accept that someone could do that far more easily than you yourself can." Professor said as he sat comfortably in his seat with elbows on the table and fingers interlocked between each other to provide a platform for his chin.

Adam looked unbelievingly at the headmaster. He was right, it was painful to admit. "But..what in all possibility could he be doing that I am not, to warrant so much skill in such a short time?" he asked desperately.

Professor Dumbledore smiled down on him with his eyes twinkling behind his glasses. "If I might have to hazard a guess, then I would place my bets on…ambition."

"A..Ambition?" Adam said with a bewildered look on his face.

"Yes, ambition. When ambition, skill and intelligence collide, the waves of its effect spreads across the world, time and communities. Such is its power. Such is the legacy of Salazar Slytherin." Professor Dumbledore replied gravely.

Adam pondered upon this revelation. It certainly was an intriguing topic. Wasn't he ambitious too? He had the responsibility of fighting the Dark Lord for goodness sake! How much more ambitious could one get? What ambition could Harry Dursley have the drives him this far?

Professor Dumbledore studied Adam for sometime as Adam fought with his own questions and thoughts.

"It might bring you peace to know that I myself had been a victim of such a predicament in my earlier years." Professor said at last/

Adam stared at him disbelievingly. "Someone was getting better than you? That is impossible!"

"Oh, it became very much possible. I myself was a very passionate man back then, yet for my passion to be beaten like that was a massive blow to my ego, but I had to get over it. Each star seems brightest up close." Professor Dumbledore told him.

"I can't believe that!" Adam blurted out.

Professor Dumbledore chuckled. "Now skittle along Adam. It wouldn't be wise to test the patience of your parents further."

"Yes sir!" Adam said as he himself realized how much garnering as much good graces he could have from his parents was important. He quickly turned around and started getting out of the office.

As he reached to open the door, he turned around for one last question. "Sir?"

Professor Dumbledore looked up from the paper work he was starting to do. "Yes Adam?'

"Who was the person that might have gotten more powerful than you?"

Professor Dumbledore smiled grimly at Adam. "Voldemort. And he has in fact become more powerful than me."
