Ruby yawned as she walked with her team, the eternally red forest around them having a gentle sway to it, the wind barely picking up as the four huntresses-in-training walked towards their destination. They had been dropped off at the edge of the forest a few hours ago, and already, boredom was setting in on their long trek, it especially hitting the leader of the team hard since she had barely gotten any sleep the previous night, her ever-present maintenance on the teams weapons having took priority.
"Sooo...I spy with my li-"
"Let me guess, the sky."
"You don't even know what I was gonna say Weiss." Yang looked at the shorter huntress with a blank expression, the blonde brawler only trying to lighten the mood of their trek.
"It's the only thing that isn't red in this forest." Weiss huffed, her fingers finding their usual place on her face as they pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
"Touche Schnee, touche."
At that, silence once again reigned over the four, which allowed Weiss to delve into her own thoughts, something that the heiress had not been able to do for quite some time as of lately. Ever since Ruby had been injured that night, Weiss has been, in her own mind, doing a lot more to be a better partner, which in turn has made the red huntress that she's partners with a lot happier.
But, she's been wondering about a few things. Why was Ruby still insistent on sleeping in her bed? There was a perfectly good, most likely a deathtrap bed above Weiss's that was just as usable. And on top of that, she wondered how she was happier than before? Maybe it's because we're spending more time together? The heiress placed her hand under her chin while she thought, the gentle breeze of the constant autumn atmosphere of the forest keeping her relaxed, which in turn allowed her to breath a sigh of serenity.
"Hmmm...I sp-"
"Yang. Enough." Weiss glared at the brawler before sighing. "Alright, let's play the quiet game! First to speak loses."
Yang raised her finger in protest as her mouth opened, but she then shut it as she gave the heiress a competitive look before smirking, the four now simply walking. At the sudden peaceful silence, Weiss smiled as she kept her eyes ahead of them, the small respite allowing her to delve into her thoughts once more. Although she hadn't taken into account a certain red-clad huntress next to her being very bored.
"I lose!" The red hooded leader of the team exclaimed as she yawned, her small outburst at least lightening her bored mood.
"Ha! One down, two to go!" Yang smirked triumphantly before frowning, realization dawning on her before she facepalmed, which elicited a chuckle from the faunus next to her.
"Looks like you win then Weiss." Blake looked up from her book and towards the heiress, whose eye was currently twitching. "Are...you alright Weiss?" At that, the heiress stared daggers towards the three other huntresses before crossing her arms and quickening her pace.
"I'll take that as a n-" Ruby yawned halfway through her sentence before rubbing her eyes. "no.'
"Tired Rubes?" Yang looked towards her younger sister, to which said sister simply nodded. "Figures since you were up all of last night."
"Hey, I just wanted to make sure our weapons were nice and oiled up for the mission." Ruby huffed as she rubbed her tired eyes before yawning again, although she then felt her body being lifted up bridal style, her eyes meeting lilacs, which caused an embarrassed blush to erupt onto her face. "Y-Yang!"
"Hey, you barely got any sleep on the Bullhead and in the dorm room. So I suggest you take this time to sleep as we walk there." The blonde brawler smiled towards her sister. "Don't worry sis, I got ya."
Ruby yawned again before nodding in defeat, her head falling onto her sister's shoulder as her eyes closed, her mind relinquishing itself to the realm of dreams.
Red. The color of my beloved cloak was all around me. The trees, ground, and even the bushes were a beautiful scarlet. Although as my head turned to gaze around me in this scarlet paradise, my eyes soon gazing upon other figures next to me.
Beowolves.
Yet, even though I knew what they were, I felt no fear. Instead, a weird feeling washed over my body; pride. I felt pride at the sight of them, but I didn't know why. Within the pack of Grimm around me, there were about ten or so, each one a varying size, although there seemed to be some sort of order to them. The bigger, older ones were in the front while the younger ones stayed in the back. Before I could actually think about the formation, my head pointed forwards, my ears picking up what sounded like a gentle rumbling, but I knew it was something else foreign, something that didn't belong in this forest.
Without even thinking twice, my legs propel me forwards towards the noise, the pack of Beowolves following me, each one keeping within a tight formation. The treeline became a blur as I continued, my breathing getting faster and faster as I saw tracks in front of me. My claws reaching towards them as I lu-
"Woah!" Yang jumped when Ruby, who was currently being cradled in her arms, suddenly jumped forward, her hand stretching outwards as her eyes widened slightly. "Something wrong Rubes?"
It took a few minutes for Ruby to regain her thoughts before she shook her head.
"No...it was just some crazy dream is all."Ruby smiled lightly towards the blonde brawler before hopping out of her arms, her limbs stretching outwards as she looked around where they were.
Much like how the rest of the forest was, the crimson color of the trees and leaves underneath their feet showed why the forest was named Forever Falls. Although, the four were standing atop a cliff, the railways at the bottom of the small outcropping of rock below them.
"Why couldn't we have just been dropped off here to begin with?" Ruby looked towards the other three of her team, Blake silently closing her book before putting it into a small pack.
"Because if the White Fang have any snipers, we would've been picked off. But if we go at it like this, they won't be none the wiser."
"Exactly" Weiss smiled, her head turning towards the sound of a train beating against the tracks. "And looks like we got here just on time"
"Looks likes it's time then." Yang grinned as she deployed Ember Celica.
"Last one there is a rotten egg!" Ruby grinned as she barreled down the side of the cliff, a flurry of rose petals being left in her wake, which made a certain heiress roll her eyes before smiling.
"That dolt."
At that, she barreled down the cliff after Ruby, her glyphs ensuring that she caught up with her partner while Yang and Blake brought up the rear, the four of them soon jumping onto the speeding train.
With grace, Ruby deployed Crescent Rose and buried her blade into the top of the train, Weiss practically skewering her sword through the metal. Blake landed with the finesse of a ninja as her own blade left an almost invisible cut into the train, which was the polar opposite of the small crater that Yang made with her fists when she landed.
"Step one down." Blake lightly smiled as she looked for a latch in the train car, Weiss sheathing Myternaster for the time being.
"Right." Yang smiled as she kept her guard up, Ruby looking over the box car with Blake until they were able to find a latch that was locked, which was easily broken by Gambol Shroud. "Looks like we're in!" At that, the blonde brawler hopped into the car, Weiss, Blake, and then Ruby following behind her.
"Yang...I don't think just hopping into here was a good idea." Ruby looked around them, the only thing that was discernable in the dark being the glowing of crimson components on dozens upon dozens of Atlesian Knight-130s.
"Oh don't worry Ruby, I've fought these things be-" Blake's eyes slightly widened when she saw a few of them pull out components from their backs, said components combining into a gatling gun, about five of the obsolete androids now sporting said weapon. "fore...well, this is gonna be a lot harder than I expected."
"Nooooo, ya don't say?" Weiss sighed as she pulled out her weapon and switched its setting to her ice Dust. "Well, at least if anything, this teaches us that those pieces of scum are pretty inventive."
"Hey, that doesn't mean anything. I'm still gonna beat the crap out of these things until they're nothing but scrap!" Yang grinned as she ran towards the first android she saw and punched it, her weapon giving it a face full of Ember Celica before it flew back, its face partially blown off.
With less than a second, the androids descended onto team RWBY, the five that had the gatling guns giving their comrades supporting fire while the rest either used their blades of their guns, the symbol of the White Fang emblazoned onto their chests. But of course, the team of huntresses weren't civilians or wet behind the ears when it came to battle.
Within no time, there was already about half a dozen of the metal men frozen by Weiss's weapon, her parrying and strikes into the chests and heads of her attackers showing that she was not meant to be taken lightly. Yang during this time was kicking a droid into another one nearby before bringing her fist down onto them both and slamming them into the floor, her elbow cocking itself back as she reloaded her weapons, her taking a few hits but hitting the bots back twice as hard. During this, Blake was striking quick and fast with lethality, her cleaver and sword slicing through the hordes of metal and Dust. Yes, a few of the suckers were able to get a lucky hit on her, but they were easily deflected with her shadow clones.
While the WBY of RWBY were fighting in the giant mosh pit, their leader was currently firing precise hits onto the gatling gun wielding mechs, her shots ripping through their chests like tissue paper. Although, her sights were so tuned into the enemies in front of her, she hadn't noticed the mech running towards her, but by the time she did, it was too late, her world becoming a shade of red.
But, it wasn't from her blood. Oh no, it was from the red Dust now spewing out of the mechs chest as an almost needle thing blade protruded from it befor being slid out.
"Ruby, are you alright?!" Weiss looked towards her partner as she kept her guard up, her eyes examining the enemies that were left, their being about two dozen now.
"Yeah, I am now." Ruby smiled as she transformed Crescent Rose into its scythe form, her eyes scanning the enemies surrounding them. "How about we show these things the technique we did in the training room?"
Weiss smiled at the memory before nodding, the two lunging into the crowd of stolen androids. Within a flurry of lightning, gunshots, and slashes from their weapons, the two huntresses were calling out where to strike and what to strike, their weapons and fighting styles being in a perfect harmony the entire time as their enemies fell around them. Once the dust had finally cleared, all that was left was what used to be a couple dozen Atlesian Knight-130s, their bodies being nothing but scrap metal now.
"Whoo~" Yang panted as she wiped sweat off of her brow before loading new ammo belts into her weapons, to which she locked them into place. "Looks like the White Fang aren't playing around this time."
"Seems like it. We'll have to tread lightly." Blake kept her weapon out as she made her way to the next door. "Ruby, you go with Weiss towards the caboose while Yang and I go towards the actual train."
"Got it!" Ruby smiled as she reloaded her weapon before making her way towards the other end of the train car with Weiss. "Good luck you two!"
"Heh, don't worry Rubes, we've got plenty of it." Yang grinned as the respective partners left the empty train car.
"Interesting..." The woman muttered to herself as she watched the scene in front of her unfold, her eyes watching the four new occupants of the train enter one of the cars of the train. "Well, this will be fun."
She smiled as she stood up, her goggled staying snugly over her eyes while her mask covered her nose and mouth, her red, light green, and dark green hair billowing out behind her as she ran towards the tracks, her movements being like water as she jumped onto the caboose of the train. Even though her dark brown cloak was covered in armor, it barely made a difference to her since she wore it all the time. But now, she had a little investigating to do since everyone's favorite terrorist group had information she wanted.
"Well, let the games begin."
Hi there everyone! Sorry if this is out late, but I REALLY wanted to make this one epic, especially with the fighting scene. Anyway, remember to leave a comment, follow and favorite, and until next time, ciao~
