Chapter Ten
The feel of his lips on her neck was something she never tierd of, she kept her eyes firmly shut and feeling his hands pushing her nighty down her arm she wriggled further under the covers. "DS Moss.. I know you are awake" he whispeared into her ear and she smiled slightly, he pulled her back and pinned her onto the bed "You are a bad girl" he whispeared before letting his lips gently massage hers. Her eyes flicked open as he withdrew and she stared into his eyes "Morning" she whispeared and he grinned "Morning gorgeous" he replied. Pecking her lips as he rolled onto his back he moved her so she straddled his waist "So.." he grinned "What do you think we should do today... our first day as a proper couple.." she smiled "You dont want to play the field at all... seen as you and Kate are finished now?". He smirked "Yeah I was thinking that I could get used to being young, free and single.." a frown covered her features and she smirked "Is that right?" she asked and he shook his head "Na... Im not young anymore.. I have never been free.. not in the job and as for single... Im never letting you go sweetheart". She nodded "Thats what I like to hear" she spoke before leaning into his lips once again "I love you.." she whispeared and a smirk covered his features "I know.." he placed his hand on her face "I love you too darling". She climbed off of him and he sighed "Where you going?". She smirked "To get a shower and then to get dressed... as its my first day being Dale Smiths girlfriend... you can spoil me". He nodded as she headed for the door before he grabbed his phone, he was very surprised Kate hadnt contacted him, she wasnt one to give up easily and seen as she had left an answer phone message ending their relationship he expected something but he couldnt dwell on it, he was sure the DI was fine and right now he had to put Stevie first. He headed downstairs in his boxers, intent on making them both a coffee and some toast before taking her out an showing her she was the only one for him. She appeared about fifteen minutes later in the door way and he smiled as he eyed her figure "You know it will probably rain" he grinned as he slipped his arms round her, playing with the soft material of her flowery summer dress. "I know I wanted to look nice.." she replied. He glanced down at her "You look stunning.. it suits you... I have never seen you dressed like this before" he smirked and she smiled "Looking fine am I?" she asked and he laughed "Mighty fine" he leant back into her lips. He pushed her against the kitchen side and lifted her leg so it rubed his waist. He smiled slightly as he pulled back "Unless you wanna spend the morning in bed... you need to give me a minute" she pulled back and glanced down at his manhood "Mmmm... as tempting as the offer is... you promised me a day out.. so get yourself moving" she headed to the fridge and grabbed the milk. She noticed Smithy frown as the front door opened and she watched as he crossed the room and made his way out into the hall, she knew who it was but she just had to trust Smithy to keep her out of his mistake.
Seeing the blonde he sighed "I wasnt expecting you back.." he spoke and she burst into tears, he moved to her and she fell into his arms as she cried "There is nothing they can do for him... my Dad is gone". He sighed as he wrapped his arms round her "Im sorry.." he spoke and then he kissed the top of her head. Stevie appeared in the door way and he turned to her, keeping Kate hugged into his body. "Im sorry" he mouthed and Stevie shook her head before walking back into the kitchen. He pulled back from the woman and smiled "I will make you a tea.. go and sit down" he smiled gesturing into the living room. He smiled to the small blonde as she sat at the kitchen table, he knealt down infront of her "I am so sorry sweetheart but.." she cut him off "You bottled it.. you said you told her.." he nodded "I left her a message.. she cant of got it.. she thinks.." Stevie rose to her feet "You choose Smithy... right here.. right now... her or me?" she asked and he frowned "Her Dad..." Stevie cut in "Its all very touching Smithy and I am sorry for what is happening with her Dad but I refuse to play second best... choose?". He sighed "Please dont ask this of me... not at the moment.. you saw her Stevie.. she is so upset" Stevie smiled "Its fine... looks like you have really figured out which one of us means more to you". She walked from the room and he sighed as Kate appeared "Smithy.." she spoke and he turned to her "I need some time... we need some space.." she gestured to the stairs and he frowned "Stevie.." Kate nodded "Tell her to go.. pay for a hotel" he shook his head "No.. I cant do that Kate.. Stevie lives here..". She sighed "Smithy... I need some time with you and only you... now either you tell her or I am going too.." he grabbed her wrist as she turned to the door "I said no.. Stevie owns half of this house... now there is nothing that is going to change that.." she cut in "Do you love me?" she asked and he nodded slightly, she moved to him "Then put me first and get rid of her... I am going for a shower". He sighed as he watched her leave, he felt like he was between a rock and a hard place. He had Stevie pulling him in one direction and Kate pulling in the other and all he wanted was too run away and hide, so maybe thats what he should do, run away from everything.
Hearing the blonde flumping down the stairs Smithy sighed as she headed into the living room "Are you ok?" he asked and she shook her head "What do you think Smithy". He smiled "Her Dad Stevie... what do you want me to do?" she shook her head "Nothing... nothing at all.. she is welcome to you.." he grabbed her wrist as she headed to the door "We need to talk.." she laughed "What with your girlfriend upstairs.." he smiled "She is asleep". Stevie nodded as she pulled from him "Well it seems you have got your priorities sorted... I have to go". He sighed "Where are you going?" she turned back to him "I dont know... to find somewhere else to live.. find a bloke and have sex... all night" she smirked and he grabbed her and forced her against the wall "Dont you dare... I love you". She shook her head "No you use me.. and you use her.. you think of us both as toys..". He shook his head "I dont treat women like that.." she laughed "You always have Smithy... its all about you getting your leg over... whoever you can find who is stupid enough to have you". She stormed through the front door and he followed "How dare you" he stressed "Its not like you a Miss Inocent is it.." she cut him off "Maybe Im not... but I have done everything to make you happy.." he shook his head "No.. you always look out for number one" she began to walk away and he smiled "Thats it... run away" she climbed into her car and he smiled as he moved and flumped into the passenger seat "I am not getting out... so you are going to have to talk to me" she stared the engine "No.. I dont have to do anything" she drove off and he clipped his seatbelt on "Really mature Stevie".
Creeping down the stairs Kate sighed as she glanced round the living room "Smithy..." she called out before moving and sinking onto the sofa. The TV was on and half a cup of coffee on the table. She reached to the phone and picked up the house phone and called his mobile. She layed her head back onto the sofa and sighed as it began to ring, hearing the noise, she muted the telly before following the noise into the kitchen, she hung up before grabbing his mobile. She glanced through the house and then began to look through his phone, she alredy knew he had cheated and that there was no way she would let either of them get away with making a fool out of here, now she just had to find something to make Stevie look the fool she was and prove to the whole world that Smithy was nothing more than a player and once no other woman would look twice at him he would have no choice but to beg her for forgiveness and then she could make him promise her anything she wanted. Flicking through his text messages there were a couple from Stevie but that was no surprises, she needed more than that, she wanted to humiliate Stevie beyond belief so she could never recover and would have no choice but to leave.
Stevie pulled up outside an estate agents and he grabbed her arm "Dont do this... I love you". She smiled "You know what I love you... I love you so much.. I cant be around you anymore.." he sighed "I cant be without you". He took her hand "What about if we run away... sell up and start again". She sighed "You still have to tell her Smithy... you cant just pack up and leave". He smiled "She will have to go back... for her Dads funeral.." Stevie smiled "What and you will just disapear and break her heart". He smiled "I dont know what else to do Stevie... I dont want to be with her.." She cut him off "Then man up Smithy.. if you really know you want to be with me and not her... then you go home and tell her.. you have an hour... if you arent back here... having told her... you will never see me again". He smiled "An hour... come on Stevie... I need longer than that". She shook her head "One hour.." she pointed to a coffee shop the other side of the road "I will wait over there". He sighed "Please dont go anywhere.. Stevie I promise.. I will do it.." he leant forward and into her lips, kissing her gently "We are going to live happily ever after.. you and me.." she sighed slightly "Dont make promises Smithy". He climbed from the car and began to jog in the direction of the station, knowing he was far nearer to there than his home, he could get Callum to give him a lift before he returned to Stevie and began their life the way it was meant to be.
She watched as Callum pulled up and Smithy climbed out, he leant back in and spoke to the uniformed man before heading up, she heard him tap on the door, she moved out into the hall and glanced at his keys hanging on the hook, he must of left in such a hurry. She pulled the door open and smiled to him "Where have you been?" she asked and he sighed "I had a few things to sort out.." she smiled "With no keys and no phone". He shrugged "Im sorry... we need to talk.." he moved into the living room and straight to the window and glanced out at the man he classed as his best friend, there had been many ups and downs but he had always helped him where he could. He turned back to the woman and frowned "I know now is not the best time... but.. this isnt working". She smiled "What isnt?" she asked and he gestured between them "Us..
I dont love you Kate.. not in the way I should.. in the way you deserve". She frowned "I know that" she smirked "Do you really think I am that stupid I havent seen whats been going on between you... and her... for months... give me some credit" he sighed "Why didnt you say anything?" he asked and she smiled "What give you two the satisfaction.." she laughed "Do me a favour.. I heard you.. on your birthday declaring your love for her.. she is a slapper.." he cut in "Dont talk about her like that Kate". The woman laughed "You really want her.. not me?" she asked and he nodded gently "Im sorry". She laughed "Dont be.. I will go and pack my stuff" he smiled "I'll give you some space... Im sorry Kate". She handed his phone to him and smirked "You left your phone behind earlier". He took it and watched her head up the stairs, her attitude filled him with fear but right now he just had to get back to Stevie. Running out to the car waiting outside he smiled "Whats the time?" he asked and Callum smiled "You got about ten minutes". Smithy nodded "Put your foot down then".
Arriving at the cafe some fifteen minutes later he ran inside and glanced round before moving to the counter, smiling at the young girl he asked "There was a small blonde in here.. about so high" he waved his hand around the height of the woman "She was wearing a summer flowery dress.." the woman nodded "She left a couple of minutes ago.." he nodded before running towards the exit. He ran outside and seeing her car at the traffic lights waiting to pull off he ran towards her, hoping he made it to her in time, he couldnt face his life without her in it.
