This one is dedicated to Ladybug-Jojo for putting this idea into my mind and challenging me to write it ;) You'll get your challenge too :P
Enjoy :)
"No, Eli." I exclaim before I glance at my watch. I had planned to get back to the office after this meeting with Eli. I hadn't expected to stay this long as my mind was already made up about the topic I knew he wanted to talk about. But he won't give in and I have lost count of the time I told him the two letter word.
"You haven't even thought about it, Alicia. All I hear is 'No'. But you don't give me a reason." he raises an eyebrow at me and I feel he's loosing his patience, the little he has anyway.
"I don't have to, Eli." I reply curtly, feeling no need to discuss why I decided against running for State's Attorney.
"Alicia, please. Peter needs to get behind a candidate but none of the ones who already announced is suitable. You on the other hand…"
"…would be suitable?" I cut him off, repressing a laugh. "You can't tell me it would be ethical for Peter to endorse me. Didn't Marilyn point that out for you?" I snort as I reach for my phone in my bag.
"She's on maternity leave and her replacement isn't as black and white." he murmurs and I know I hit a sore spot in his plan.
"Well, it doesn't matter anyhow as I'm not running, Eli." I look up from my cell and get up.
"Is that your last word, Alicia?" he asks and I can hear a little resignation in his tone.
"Eli?" the door behind me opens and I recognize the voice without even turning.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Hi Alicia." Peter greets me and I just nod at him.
"Do you need me, Peter?" Eli steps up from behind his desk.
"No, I'll come back later." Peter shakes his head.
"You can stay. Eli and I are done." I reach for my bag before I walk to the door.
"Are you sure, Alicia?" Eli calls after me and I turn again, nodding my head. He shrugs his shoulders and I get the feeling he's still not done with the topic.
"Bye Eli." I pass by Peter who holds the door for me.
"Can I talk to you for a minute, Alicia?" he asks as he leaves the room behind me.
"Sure." I sigh, getting the feeling I'll never get out of here.
I follow him to his office and he once again holds the door for me, so I step into the room first. I come to a halt as I see a woman standing at Peter's desk.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Florrick. I brought the afternoon mail and I thought you'd like a coffee." she smiles shyly at Peter who passes by me.
"Thanks, Lauren." he steps up to his desk while she lingers next to the couch, not taking her eyes from Peter.
"If you need anything else, Mr. Florrick." she says in a sing-song voice and I feel a hint of jealousy as I see Peter smile at her. I can't help the images appearing in my mind as she walks by me, leaving the room. I push the thoughts away, reminding myself that I gave him permission to do whatever he wants, but still wonder why it bothers me all of a sudden.
"What do you want, Peter?" I sit down on the couch.
"Can we talk about a few events I need you to appear?" he picks up his calendar and sits down next to me.
"Sure." I retrieve my organizer from my bag and start browsing through it.
We spend the next 20 minutes going over dates and appointments for the following months.
"Any plans on a Christmas party at your firm this year?" Peter finally asks me as we reach December.
"No, not yet. It's been crazy the last weeks with Diane joining us. We haven't talked about it yet." I sigh, skimming through the dates in December, already thinking about where the party could fit.
"You want me to be there again?" he hesitantly asks, peering down on his organizer.
"Sure, if you can make it work." I smile.
"Yeah, why not." he returns my smile as I put my stuff back in my bag, getting ready to leave.
"Did Eli ask you again to run for SA?" he looks directly at me and I nod.
"You declined?" he adds carefully.
"Yes, I did. What do you think about it?" I challenge him, realizing I never talked to him about this.
"Well, I respect your decision and the reasons you undoubtedly have. But I think you'd be great at that job." he smiles.
"Maybe, I'd be but I just started a firm. I can't just pack up and leave." I slightly shake my head.
"Sure." he nods and I know he gets me as I remember he had the same doubts as he left the private practice he was a partner at when he got the offer to work as an ASA with the prospect of running for SA. He took the gamble back then and I briefly wonder where we would be today if he hadn't. I push the thought away and realize we've sat in silence for a while.
"I'll pick up Grace tomorrow night for the weekend. I hope she told you." he breaks the calm and I take the chance to stand.
"Yes, she did." I reply, watching him get up from the couch as well.
"Ok, anything else you wanted to talk about?" I ask, more out of courtesy as I reach for my phone again.
"No." he shakes his head.
"Good. I need to head for the office now. Bye, Peter." I turn to leave.
"Just that I like your new hairstyle." he murmurs and I move around, surprised about the compliment. My heel gets stuck at the border of the rug and I stumble, letting my bag fall to the floor. Peter quickly moves closer, catching me by grabbing my waist so I won't fall.
I gain my balance again but he keeps his hands firmly on my body. I peer up, realizing how close we are as I feel his breath on my cheek. I look into his eyes which lock with mine. He seems to be as surprised by the sudden closeness as I am. His glance wanders down my body, checking that I'm back on my feet before I feel his hands glide from my waist. The traces of his warmth tingle on my skin, even through the fabric of my blouse. I keep my hand on his upper arm, not breaking the eye contact. His other hand stays on my hip and I shudder as he slightly moves his thumb. I hear my heart thundering in my ears as I move my hand on top of his and I guess I can see a glimmer of astonishment in his eyes. He places his hand on my back again, letting it slowly wander upwards. I sigh deeply as his fingertips brush over the skin on my neck, the heat from the contact spreading through my body. I bite my lip, trying to fight back the urge to lean in and kiss him as I wonder why his touch can still make me feel this way. His hand leaves my hip, gently sliding over my stomach. I reach for his neck, drawing him in so our lips meet. The kiss is soft at first, slowly exploring but soon it deepens, leaving us both short of breath. All thoughts have left my mind, all that matters is feeling his hands on my body, his lips on mine. I gently push him backwards, brushing his jacket from his shoulders before I move to his tie. I steer him around the desk until he hits the chair. I open his belt and his pants which fall to the floor as his fingers open my blouse, pulling it from my skirt. He cups my breasts, letting his thumbs run gently over my peaks which makes me whimper and I press myself closer to him. His lips find mine again, deeper and more demanding this time. He pushes my blouse down as his lips wander over my throat and down to my breasts. I reach for his face, pulling him upwards so our eyes meet. His are dark with desire, aflame with a love I haven't longed to see in a long time. But now it fuels my need for him and I push him down on the chair. I bend forward, resting my hands on his chest, kissing him gently. I lean back again, hoisting my skirt to remove my panties. He groans as I reach for his briefs and pull them down before I straddle his lap. He draws me closer, my hands slide around his neck, one running through his hair as his lips capture mine. His erection presses against my center, a burning desire tugging at my insides and I moan deeply into the kiss. His hands grab my hips and he lifts me up, so I stand again. His fingers slide down my leg to my knee before they wander under my skirt and up my thigh. I whimper as is fingertips brush along my folds, slowly parting them, gliding deeper through my wetness. He circles my clit and I'm glad he's holding a firm grip on my hip as my knees get weak. I bend forward, holding on to his shoulders, finding his lips once more, kissing him deeply as he keeps on caressing me. I reach down, stroking his erection, brushing lightly over the tip, making him groan into the kiss. He intensifies the pressure on my clit before he removes his fingers, breaking the kiss. Our eyes lock as he glides his arms around my waist, pulling me down. I guide him to my entrance and lower myself slowly until we're fully joined. He draws me close to his chest, running his hands up my sides as I bury my face at his neck, enjoying the closeness. I lean back, resting my arms on his shoulders, running my fingers through his hair. His arms slide around my waist, lifting me slowly. I start moving, holding on to him for support. I start slowly, his lips finding mine again. I quicken my pace as he holds on to my hips so I can keep my balance while he moves his hips, meeting my downward movements. I lean back, changing the angle and cry out as he hits my most sensitive spot. I spiral over the edge but keep on moving which prolong the waves of pleasure rolling through me. Peter pulls me against his chest as he finds his release, moaning my name. He gently strokes my back as we both calm down. After a while I lift my head, watching him. His eyes are closed and I see a sad smile on his lips. I place a gentle kiss on his cheek before I get up. His eyes fly open and I fear he wants to talk but he just watches me as I search for my blouse and put it back on.
"Mr. Florrick?" the door opens and I turn, seeing the intern from earlier standing in the frame.
"Oh, I'm….sorry." she stammers and I see the shock in her eyes as she takes in the scene, Peter's clothes on the floor and my unbuttoned blouse. I hear Peter gasp behind me but I block his view to the door. I look at her and she blushes as I continue to stare at her. I don't know why, but I hope she gets my silent message telling her to stay away from my husband. Finally she slams the door shut and I bend down to pick up my panties. I finish dressing and turn to Peter who is fully clothed again as well.
"That was close." he smirks and I smile as a boyish grin spreads on his face.
"Alicia…?" he murmurs, stepping up to me.
"Don't, Peter." I stop him as I can't talk about what just happened between us now. I close the distance between us, brushing my lips gently against his before I turn and leave the room.
"Alicia?" Eli's voice holds me back before I even turned the first corner.
"Did you have anything to do with the intern Lauren quitting just now?" he asks as he walks up to me. I look at him and think he's not too sad about that fact.
"Maybe." I wink at him before I turn and finally leave the building.
