A/N: I want to thank everyone who reviewed, followed, and added this story to their favorites list. I also wanted to say that since my schedule is overloaded this and next week, I am posting two chapters instead of one to fill in for the week I know I will miss... I hope it will only be one week but with the holidays, hockey, and my new addition of two small children who are adjusting to their new home... it might be a bit longer, but I hope not.

Billy ran his hand down his face in frustration as he leaned outside of Allison's room. She now laid sedated after having to have her lip and tongue sutured shut. Other than some discomfort from the pain and the annoyance of stitches, they assured him she would be fine.

A musical voice came from down the hall, causing him to jerk his head towards the blonde doctor, who was making his way down the hall and looking completely frazzled, which caused Billy's brow to furrow. He had no idea a vampire could look so worn down.

Pushing the useless thought aside, Billy pushed himself off the wall and started towards the vampire hoping to intercept him.

"We need to talk," he whispered, knowing the words weren't falling on deaf ears as he turned down a dim hallway. Halfway down he stopped and leaned against the wall.

With swift stealth he was joined, Slowly Billy looked up and into the eerie citrine eyes, which quickly sent a chill down his spine on instinct.

"I'm assuming this is about Isabella?"

"Yes."

"Then why the need for privacy? This isn't a supernatural matter; there is no need to worry about bystanders overhearing."

"Is she alive?" Billy's voice was gruff and holding a slight edge.

"If you're asking if I fed from the girl-".

"That isn't what I'm asking! Did she live through her injures?" even Billy could hear the nervousness and desperation in his tone, causing the vampire to look uneasily at the man before him.

"Yes, she lives; it took-", the vampire paused as he took in Billy's agitated expression at hearing the girl was indeed alive, which caused his sharp mind to race as he took in the normally protective Quileute chief's behavior. Then as if hit by a ton of bricks, his sharp mind came to a crashing halt. "God, William, you wanted the girl to die! Didn't you?" his voice holding disgust at a man who might be his enemy but yet who he respected at how he and his ancestors had always protected their tribe.

Billy's answer came in his inability to meet the vampire's gaze. "Of all people you would be the last I'd expect to wish harm or death among a member of their tribe. Have you no idea what that girl has been through? Where is this caring, devoted leader? Because he sure as heck does not stand before me; because that person wouldn't wish death to a young child of his tribe, who is fighting for a chance to live now that there is a family to live for," his voice rising in his disgust.

"You don't understand!" Billy snapped.

"What don't I understand, William? Because from where I stand, I understand perfectly; you wish death to an innocent child."

"That is debatable, Carlisle," Billy's snort cutting the doctor short.

"What's exactly debatable, William? Please enlighten me to what I seem to not understand?" he bit out.

"It's nothing that pertains to you. Just know that it involves the survival of our tribe," Billy's voice ended with an exhausted whisper, causing the vampire to raise an eyebrow. He understood the concept of sacrifice, one life for the masses; but this was a young child they were talking about. What could she do to cause any harm to the tribe? "It involves something that Sarah had seen," he heard the man whisper and would have missed it if not for his advanced hearing.

Carlisle couldn't contain his gasp. He knew Billy's wife was given the gift of being a seer, who is more powerful than his own adopted daughter. What had him shocked was that she had shared a vision of the future. His daughter, Alice, always told him most seers' visions were subjective and to be taken as such because people change their minds. These seers were meant to help save those who are deemed needed by the Fates, and the vision could be shared if it meant the ward in the visions choice meant harm or death. She also spoke of a very rare type of seer, who would receive very detailed visions of events to be deciphered, in hopes of doing everything in their power to weed out the worst outcome and to direct things into the right direction. Those visions were never to be shared. As Alice put it, there are consequences with playing with the future if you used it for your own benefit and only profiting from it; and those consequences would be handed by the Fates themselves. Seers were meant to balance even if it meant loss; it was a gift and a curse. Obviously Billy's wife had broken those rules when confronted by her vision, because if it was meant to be for this child to die she would be directing the actions not going through her husband. It wasn't his job to carry out the balance and to decipher; it was the seers'.

"What did she tell you?"

"It's nothing that pertains to you," he hissed out in anger.

"You know not what you or your wife have done."

"Again it doesn't pertain to you!" he snapped cutting off the doctor before reigning himself in with a sigh leaving the hallway silent for a long moment before finding his words "What are her chances?"

Carlisle didn't want to answer him but he was listed as the guardian right now, especially since the grandmother was incapacitated. "I'm not sure," he huffed in frustration. From everything he could sense and smell plus the charts, the girl should be awake but she constantly was going into cardiac arrest. The closest thing he could chalk it up to was that the child was willing herself dead. 'Dear God, could she sense disdain even in her state?' he wondered.

A warmth on his arm had him looking up and into the dark eyes before him. "So maybe it would be best for you to help her," his voice was weak but held conviction.

For the first time in his years since meeting Ephraim and the shifters had Carlisle felt such utter shock; but this time it was from what he was being asked to do. "Are you asking me to change the girl? Or feed from her?" he growled as he ripped his arm away as rage filled him at the request.

"Either."

"First, wouldn't that violate the treaty seeing as she is Quileute?"

"That could be overlooked."

"NO! No, it cannot be, William! Also do you forget that I do not feed from humans? So that is out of the question! And third, she cannot be changed as she is too young; she would be what we consider an immortal child and that is forbidden among our kind!" he snarled in rage at the man he once respected. "That girl has had enough pain to last a lifetime, and I would not subject her to this eternity of hell even if she was of age. I have done it before; thinking it was best for my daughter, Rosalie, after her abusive attack that left her broken and on the verge of death. But what I thought was mercy by granting her a form of life has done nothing but make her angry and bitter; even after her revenge on those that wronged her, she hates what she is. I can tell you Isabella would hate it as well, being stuck to relieve her pain for an eternity! The only reason Rosalie lives is because of her mate; if not for him she would have thrown herself into her own pyre by now," he snarled in fury.

"You think this is what I wanted? I have no choice," Billy shouted back in frustration.

"There is always a choice, William; but you are making one that isn't yours to make off a seer's vision that isn't yours to interpret,"

"Then what am I to do?"

"Help the girl fight and live; and then take her home and let the seer do what she is destined to do," he growled out. 'However, I think it's too late and the Fates are already readying their punishment' flowed through his thoughts as he turned to leave.

"That isn't an option," Billy snapped as he grabbed the fleeting doctor's arm.

"Neither is death. At least not by mine or by your hands; and I will have someone watching to be sure on your end it stays that way," he coolly said as he pulled his arm away.

"You know you owe the tribe a favor, Cullen!" Billy shouted causing Carlisle to stop dead. "If it wasn't for my grandfather, you'd be nothing but ash but he gave you a treaty and let you live. So as I see it, you owe us a favor and you could pay it forward now," Billy's voice was steely yet held an undertone of something else that the doctor couldn't pinpoint.

Carlisle turned his head slightly and when his citrine eyes connected with the hard almost soulless brown ones behind him, he shook his head in disgust. "And you say we are the monsters. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?" Carlisle's voice remained even and stoic even though he was raging inside as he turned and continued down the hallway with the shocked expression of Billy Black from his words ingrained into his mind.

"Come on, Bella, please wake up," Sam's voice whispered and whined at the same time as he hovered over the frail girl from the chair he had pushed up next to the bed.

Harry watched Sam sit and mutter those words from that exact position for hours now. As soon as the boy had woken from his drugged induced sleep, he had instantly started to fight his way out of Harry's grip before running down the hall screaming about his Mama taking Bella away, only to stop as he burst through her door and saw the machines beeping and the shrill of the heart monitor long gone and replaced with a steady beeping sound. Almost as if in doubt, Sam had quickly pushed a chair up to his sister's side and scrambled atop of it before slowly and gingerly laying his hand on her chest right above her heart as he took in the rise and fall and the weak steady beats, which proved there was still life inside the small girl.

Harry sighed, wishing his two children could have this kind of bond. It was something spectacular yet also heart breaking because Harry knew what would have had to happen for his children to have such a bond. He found himself happy with all the bickering and crying that his children did because it was normal. They didn't hang onto each other as if life depended on it; they had Sue and him for that, unlike the two children before him. They for so long had only themselves.

He couldn't help but admire Sam. He was nine and acted his age at times but he was brave and wise and so very mature at his young age, but after raising his sister on his own for so long would you expect anything less from the boy. What amazed Harry even more is that even though it was over and Sam could hand the reigns to his grandmother, Billy, or to him,

Sam didn't stand down. He continued to care and be by his sister's side as much as allowed, and never once had he mentioned any regret or displeasure in taking care of his sister. The only regret he ever showed was when learning what his father had done to Bella; he believed it was his fault and still does that his sister ended up here; believing if he didn't go away she would be fine, and no matter how much they told him it wasn't his doing, he didn't listen. He didn't understand that this was coming no matter what. He didn't understand the beatings were a regular occurrence for his sister, and he didn't understand exactly how sick Bella had been. Harry knew it sounded wrong but in a way this horrible event was in a way a blessing in disguise. It brought to light the whereabouts of the two Uley children, and it also got a very sick Bella to a hospital to treat her past injuries that were killing her slowly. 'God, what would have that boy done if he came home and she was dead?' his body cringed at the thought; but if he had to guess, it wouldn't be much better than what would happen if she died right here.

Harry sighed as he watched Sam read that program from the Kings' game last week again to his sister. He didn't have to wonder why, because Sam talked a mile a minute about the time he brought Bella to a game for Christmas and how much she loved it, and how he promised to take her again one day.

A movement by the door caused Harry's attention to divert from his thoughts as he saw the nurse enter, causing his heart rate to increase. Earlier when the nurses came in and needed to check Bella's feeding tube; it was like wrestling a steer trying to get Sam away from her bedside and out of the room so the nurses could work. Amidst the struggle, Harry had been surprised to see a worn out looking Cullen stick his head in and tell the nurses to pull the curtain so Sam didn't have to see but allow him to remain in the room if it would give him some comfort but only if he would calm down. Quickly Sam became compliant and allowed the nurses to do their job.

And just as quickly as they stepped away, Sam had returned to his perch next to her and again not trusting the beeping equipment, placed his hand on her chest right above her heart and took in the sounds of life.

Harry eyed the nurse carefully, who smiled at him and waved to follow. Harry didn't know if he should be worried or thrilled. Worried of what they were going to tell him and thrilled that they hadn't asked him to remove the young boy again.

"Sam, I'll be right back. Okay?"

"Uh, huh," the boy grunted never looking up as he went back to reading aloud.

"Mr. Clearwater, right?" the small nurse asked.

"Yes, but please call me Harry," he chuckled out of nervousness.

The nurse gave him a small smile in acknowledgment, "Since Ms. Uley isn't fully awake yet and unable to sign these forms, we need Mr. Black to sign. Have you seen Mr. Black?"

Harry's brow furrowed in thought; thinking back to when he last saw his friend. He glanced at the clock; it had been hours since he had seen him. It wasn't long before Sam woke that Billy stormed through the waiting area, muttering about needing air and handling some things. 'What could he be doing that is taking this long?'

"Mr... I mean, Harry, have you seen him?"

"Uh, not for awhile. Maybe he needed some rest. I mean this is one heck of a stressful thing going on but maybe I can help in his absence."

"Are you listed as someone who is able to direct care for young Isabella?"

Harry nodded with a tired smile as the nurse directed him to follow. As he followed behind the nurse, his eyes caught the clock, 'Where could he be?'

The incessant beeping was becoming louder and louder; it no longer was deep in the background. It was coming closer and no matter how hard she tried to ignore it or divert backwards it didn't back off. Before she could do anything else, it was atop of her as a blurry light filtered into her once safe dark world. As if on instinct the curtains that held her shut off in the darkness started to open wider and wider before they started to flutter in an attempt to clear the blurriness from her eyes and adjust to the bright lights above her. Bella's eyes attempted to take in her surroundings, only to come face to face with a dull white room she had never seen before, causing her heart rate to spike in fear. 'Where was her dark cubby? Where had those people taken her?'

"Bella, please-", an all too familiar voice caused her head to whip left and for her body to jerk in a bit of fear.

At the movement bright brown eyes flew up, and for the first time in weeks connected with those peridot eyes he never thought he would see again, causing instant tears to well and flow. "BELLA!" he shrieked in happiness as he scrambled from his chair and onto the bed and quickly wrapped his arms tightly around her. This caused Bella's heart monitor to again show distress. She was unsure exactly what her brother was going to do. Was he going to choke her like daddy did? She knew he knew about her punishment and wasn't sure if he was here to now enact his own or if he was sorry.

Suddenly the door burst open causing the monitor to again scream as Bella's fear escalated and she started to fight the grip her brother had on her. At the sight of the woman in the doorway, she wondered if Sam was holding her down so this stranger could hurt her.

"Oh, dear, you gave us all such a fright! We were starting to think you wouldn't ever wake up," the woman said making her way into the room towards Bella and again for her heart rate to spike even more. "Oh dear, please calm yourself; your little heart has been through so much and it can't take much more," she smiled as she pushed buttons on the machines.

"Bella," quickly she jerked her head towards Sam, her eyes wide in fear. "Please calm down. You can't let your heart go out again, please," his voice trembling a bit from worry as tears tracked down his face.

Bella wanted to reach out and touch his face and comfort him but she couldn't seem to move, not with all the memories that seemed to keep her frozen. His demeanor obviously showed he was sad, but was he sad because he let it happen and regretted it or sad because they had been caught after he told her not to ever be.

Bella jumped as she head the nurse's voice, "Son, maybe you should take your seat; you don't want to bump your sister's bruises, now do we?" Sam nodded his head no and slid from the bed and back to his chair, causing the nurse to smile. "Okay, I'm going to get the doctor and I'm sure he'll be here soon to check up on you, dear," and with that the woman exited the room.

'Doctor?' echoed through Bella's mind. She wasn't exactly sure what that was but knew it was something Sam once told her they needed to avoid, causing her to shake in fear of what was going on.

A firm grip took her hand, instantly again causing her heart rate to spike in fear. "Bella," his voice again cutting through her racing mind causing her to turn her gaze to him again. "It's okay; I know you're scared, I've been scared for weeks. You almost left me so many times," he whispered, his voice full of regret as he looked away for a minute trying to compose himself. "I'm sorry I left you; if I didn't, you wouldn't be here," he continued as he sucked up a hard sniffle. But Bella knew she would have been here even if he didn't leave her, because even staying to watch wouldn't have stopped this. 'It's better that you weren't there to watch; it won't haunt you,' echoed in her thoughts.

"Like I said I know you're scared, but it's okay. The doctors are going to make you better and then we can go home," causing Bella to cringe at the thought of going home; but Sam was to preoccupied to notice the discomfort as he became quiet and started to rummage through a bag for something.

Bella took the silence to look around the white dull room and she tried to push her voice forward but nothing came out, just empty strained air. "You're in the hospital," she heard Sam whisper, causing her head to jerk to him in fear. "NO, it's okay to be here. I'm not mad you're here, actually I'm glad we are," he said trying to push a smile on his face in hopes to comfort her. Bella could only nod, she no longer had a voice; she wondered if her father took that from her as well.

"OH, look!" Sam smiled as he held out a thick booklet. Using all her strength, Bella raised her good hand to take the booklet. As her shaking hand took it, she adjusted her vision trying to read what she could; quickly her heart broke causing her to drop the program from the game. It wasn't hers; the date wasn't the same. All of a sudden she remembered all those times Sam's voice broke through the darkness telling her of all that he had gotten to do, causing her heart to ache more knowing he had been doing things for him while she suffered. Most of all she hurt at the thought of him going to someplace that was special for them without her, causing Bella to push the offending paper away in annoyance.

"I'm sorry, Bella, I didn't think of how hard it would be to hold it with one hand." As he quickly grabbed it from her lap, not understanding the real reason for his sister's agitation.

Quickly he began to read from the booklet, holding it up for her to see the photos but unaware of her complete disinterest.

Bella blankly stared at the wall before her, totally oblivious of the opening door and the man that stood stunned inside it. Harry had heard the buzz and couldn't sign the last form fast enough as he wanted to see for himself; and as the nurses had said there sat the comatose girl awake, but unlike her brother Harry could see her obvious discomfort at the words he was reading. He didn't know why it seemed to upset the girl but that didn't matter right now.

"Hey, Sam, I see sleeping beauty finally decided to wake up", Harry chuckled at the startled boy whose face held a wide smile. Harry's eyes darted over to the girl, who now had eyes glued on him like a hawk as her monitor started to race a bit more. "Why don't you introduce me, Son", as Harry made sure to soften his tone as he smiled at the girl.

"Uh, yeah... Bella, this is Harry! He came with grandma and Billy and he's been helping me a lot and will help you too."

Harry could see the distrust in the girl's eyes, causing him to internally curse Joshua; it was going to be rough getting this girl to trust again. His eyes darted over to Sam who had started his reading and showing of the booklet again, causing Bella to become somewhat of a zombie again. "Hey, Sam, while I take a seat by the window why don't you show what else you have for your sister; you made such a fuss to have fresh ones for when she woke," Harry smiled as he slowly made his way to the widow seat that gave a good view of the television.

"OH, I almost forgot!" Sam shouted causing his sister to flinch at the tone as he scrambled to the table next to him. "Look, Bella!" his voice hummed with excitement as he handed her a small glass filled with purple flowers. For the first time since opening her eyes, Bella's eyes went wide with excitement and joy at the sight of the flowers slowly she reached out her hand and brushed her fingers over the soft petals.

"They're for you," he whispered softly. "I saw them for the first time at camp; they're called Forget-me-nots and knew I had to get you some when I heard the name to show you I never forgot you," he said with a smile. "Do you like them?"

Bella turned her head from the flowers and met her brother's gaze with happy tears in her eyes, something she thought she'd never do again. With a large smile on her face, she nodded enthusiastically, causing Sam to set down the gift and jumping up again on the bed and wrapping his arms around her. But this time he felt a tiny arm wrap around him, causing in an instant three sets of eyes to run from welled up tears. 'Maybe there is hope yet,' raced into Harry's mind as he took in the sight.

Billy paced the sidewalk outside the hospital, working up the nerve to enter the building again. His heart jumped at the man and woman who entered in the building knowing that everything had been set into motion. 'It's for the best,' the little devil who was playing the advocate whispered in his mind. Yet just as quickly Carlisle's words rang through his conscience, 'You say we are the monsters; isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?'

In frustration he threw himself against the brick building as his mind reeled.

Flashback

As the doors opened Billy grabbed the figure exiting and dragged it to the nearby alley where he began his assault.

"What the hell, Billy," the man groaned after a knee to the stomach that brought him to his knees.

"Just because we have an arrangement doesn't mean I'm not giving you what you have earned," Billy sneered.

"Whatever. Are you done?" the man asked as he leaned back onto the cool brick behind him and unscrewed the lid to the brown liquid that was tightly wrapped in a crinkled brown bag.

"Depends. Did you do your part? Because if not-".

"DAMN IT, BILLY! I SAID I'D DO IT, SO I DID," the man shouted in annoyance before taking a swig from the bag before chuckling. "I have no idea what the hell your motive is behind this. What do you get, huh? I thought your self- righteousness would keep you from doing something this cold hearted. Most of all what is good ol' Sarah gonna say when she finds out-", his smugness was cut off by a blow to his jaw at the mention of Sarah.

"She won't know I did anything!"

"Keep telling yourself that, because women have that intuition crap and she'll see through whatever you're playing at. I might not know the whole angle but I know with your soap box attitude it would have something to do with what's best for the tribe. Like I said, doesn't make sense but in the long run I could give a damn. I got freedom out of it," he shrugged as he again took a hit from the brown bag. He knew somehow Billy would end up hanging himself, but like he said he could give a damn about the self- righteous chief. He got his freedom.

"You are far from needing to know anything that concerns the tribe, Joshua," Billy bit out.

"Please get off your soap box. This shit you're pulling puts you at my level" he ground out at the man before him, causing him to take another punch to the jaw.

"I'm not like you!" Billy shouted.

"Keep telling yourself that and maybe one day you'll believe it; but even I know this is ten ways to Sunday fucked up."

"Just shut up!" Billy snapped as he ran this hand vigorously on the back of his neck in frustration. "Again, is it done?"

"Yessss," he drew out.

"Good," Billy smiled before again hitting him in the jaw, this time causing Joshua to fall to his side and enough room for Billy to deliver a kick to his ribs. "Then I'll be going," he bit out as he turned the corner leaving the man groaning in the back alley.

'And you say we are the monster; isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?' again raced through Billy's mind at remembering what had just happened. In this moment he really wished that he was able to reach Sarah to see if anything had changed, but Sue had informed Harry that Sarah had gone to her parent's for a visit. And since their cabin was remote and they didn't believe in having a phone, there was no way to know the answer; so he had to continue to act as if nothing had changed. With a deep breath he walked through the double doors and into the elevator, 'It's for the best,' kept repeating in his mind, forcing him to believe it was true. As soon as he stepped off the elevator he could hear sobbing. Putting on his stoic mask, Billy proceeded forward and with a quick knock to the open door caught the room's attention.

Allison's red puffy eyes almost caused him to falter but he held his mask. "What's going on?" he asked calmly even under the gaze of the vampire doctor and his penny haired son, who also was wearing a white lab coat with the words PA written on it. Billy flinched, especially under his glare.

"It's awful, Billy," Allison sobbed out.

"What is?" he said as he took a seat next to her and wrapped his arm around the older woman in an attempt to comfort the crying woman.

Allison tried to speak but nothing came out, causing her to nod to the woman in a suit. "It appears that Ms. Uley has applied for custody of both Samuel and Isabella Uley. However things have become complicated; Ms. Uley had a physical a couple of days ago and her test results show she is in the early stages of leukemia, which brings to question with her disease and her age if she would be able to raise two children, especially Isabella and what disabilities she might have."

"But I won't be alone. I'll have Sam; he has taken care of her before-"

"That might be so, Ms. Uley, but do you think that is fair to a nine year old child to ask him to do it again? And do you expect him to care for not only his sister but your failing health as well?" the woman chided.

"The tribe will help!" she snapped.

"That is not a guarantee and even if they would, it would not matter when it comes to Isabella. Joshua has come in and stated his unwillingness to give up custody of his daughter. He did promise to receive counseling and help to get her back; and of course he will be monitored when she is returned. But until then, she will go into state custody where she will be put into foster care."

"NO! She needs her tribe and her family," Allison screamed.

"We aren't saying she won't, Ms. Uley; you will be allowed contact and visits with the girl and we will let you know where she is in care at."

"We can't afford visits," Allison cried out.

"Then I suggest you make it count for special times. But please, Ms. Uley, understand that the State does not like taking children away from their parents even in such horrid abuse cases, most of all when a parent is willing to work on bettering themselves," the woman sighed. "Besides, Ms. Uley, do you have any health care to take care of yourself and Isabella's mounting medical bills?" Allison softly shook her head no. "Then it's best to let her stay here where she can get that taken care of. Please try to understand this is probably for the best, and I suggest pulling yourself together and putting on whatever front needs done for Isabella to understand that as well."

"What about Sam?" Billy asked.

"That is some comfort to you. For whatever the reason, Joshua has relinquished all rights to his son to Ms. Uley and the tribe, stating that his bloodline holds some importance in the tribe." The woman sighed as she stood, "As Isabella's case worker I assure you that I will keep you linked and if Joshua ever fails his requirements after six months of his treatment, we will relinquish rights of her back to you, Ms. Uley, as long as you're well enough to care for her. If not, the tribe has rights to her and if they refuse, then she will be put up for adoption here," the woman stoically said as she made her way to the door before pausing briefly. "We will have what papers need to be signed by you so you can leave tomorrow. It's best to leave quickly before Isabella and you become more attached, seeing as it could hinder her recovery. Until tomorrow," the woman nodded before exiting with the man right behind her.

"What are my chances, because I know my son and he will fail at this," Allison asked Carlisle.

No matter how many times he had to give someone bad news it never made it any easier, "Not very good, Ms. Uley."

His words threw her into a fit of tears as she buried herself into Billy's chest. "You'll make sure the tribe claims her, won't you Billy? You won't leave her alone?" she choked out as Billy wrapped his arms tightly around her.

"Of... of course," he stated as stoically as he could; he could feel the burning glare of the vampires upon him, causing him to squirm a bit.

"Excuse us, will you," Carlisle stated before quickly making his way out of the room with his son on his heels.

As they charged down the hallway, Carlisle felt a hard grip on his shoulder pulling him to a stop, "What is it Edward?"

"You do know that he set that all up, don't you? It was clear as day in his mind," he stated with disgust.

"I know. I knew he wouldn't stop with me and I was right," he sighed.

Suddenly a loud thud echoed in the hallway. A candy stripper stopped dead in her tracks and what she held in her hands fell to the floor, as her eyes glazed over completely unaware of the fuss around her. Suddenly she was back to herself and dropping to her knees and began to clean up the mess. 'Did you see that?' she asked; knowing her brother could read her thoughts but making sure to only give him what he needed to know as not to break the rules of the Fates.

"What is it?" Carlisle asked, knowing his daughter had just seen something and by the wry grin on his son's lips it was something important.

"All I know is that we need to make sure the girl survives," Edward stated simply to a relieved looking Carlisle. He knew if his daughter had seen it, it meant it was crucial and they would do all they could to make sure she did just that.

I'm pretty sure some of you aren't to happy with Billy's transition to the dark side... but at this point in the story he is just desperate and scared so he is acting out on those emotions leading him to not think things through to clearly, and giving him tunnel vision on the solution.

Even though I am posting two chapters, I hope you will take time to review this chapter also, each one is appreciated... and as usual flames are not.

Now on with the show, and to the next chapter...
