Blue Moon, Blue Eyes
By: Aubrie1234
Artemis, upon opening his eyes, felt a sense of déjà vu. Sitting up, he found he was in his room, in new pajamas but still wearing his golden necklace. Looking over himself, he saw three scars, dark round places on his left shoulder, right arm, and right leg. The werewolf had gotten hurt, obviously. And yet, with how normal everything seemed, he wondered if it had been all a dream. He knew it wasn't but could help it. Now he wondered how long he had been asleep. He didn't remember anything except transforming in the shuttle.
Standing, he found that his scars didn't bother him. They didn't when he walked to the window, either. Looking outside, he found the sun shining and everything normal. This reminded him of what had been before his werewolf adventure. It had been hard enough to hide something from his parents before, back when he was human, but how was he supposed to hide the fact that he was a werewolf?
He surmised that he would be able to control the werewolf if he had enough self-control, which meant plenty of meditating and training his mind. Artemis also wondered how his werewolf side would affect the adventures to come. He knew there would be many, obviously, but he didn't know what would happen. Would his other side be a blessing or a curse? Only time would tell...
Eternity Code:
"Holly," Artemis asked on the plane, when they had a chance alone, "you realize there is a problem with erasing my memories, right?" She sighed.
"I know, but you've got control over your werewolf form now, right?"
"I can control the transformation, but without my memories, I won't know what I will be holding back and might unleash it." he leaned back, "You know, even with this wipe, we'll meet again. It's inevitable with Orion."
"I know, but I can't do anything about it." Holly thought back to something and smiled, "You know, you haven't marked me once since that night." Artemis smiled himself.
"I know, but I have no need to and neither does Orion." Holly blushed as she thought of something else.
"I'm still not your property, though!" Artemis' smile turned into his vampire grin as he leaned forward, resting his head on his hands.
"Oh, I beg to differ."
"Fowl!" Holly punched him in the arm. It didn't hurt, but he mock rubbed it. All of this would be gone soon enough, but they only wanted to live in the moment.
His senses had been on high alert before he entered the vault, so he was able to catch the very fresh scents of Spiro and Blunt before they appeared. He could have attacked before they had been able to shoot him, but it was a small chance. One he didn't want to take, especially since he was the only target in the room besides the Cube, though it would have been preferred at the moment that the tiny, troublemaking electronic was destroyed.
Opal Deception:
Even after being sprayed by that stuff, Artemis noticed the trolls (as Holly said they were) were wary of him. It confused him at first until he got his memories back, where he then understood why. They were wary because, even with the strong stench, they could smell that he was a werewolf. He guessed he was sort of lucky for that.
"Now I'm glad to be a werewolf." he spoke to Holly after they took Opal down. She looked surprised at that.
"Really? You've never really liked it before."
"Well, I hypothesized that the trolls were wary of us, mostly because they could still smell my werewolf scent."
"You know you weren't the only reason." Holly huffed. Artemis smiled.
"I know. If it hadn't been for you, I most likely would have died, werewolf or not." he took her hand, "I wish there was a proper way to thank you, Holly." She blushed slightly.
"Don't bother." she said, turning her head away, "Getting you back was the best thank you ever." Artemis blinked in surprise.
"I would have thought surviving or beating Opal would have been that, but I can be wrong. I admit it."
"The great Artemis Fowl admits he's wrong?" Holly turned back to him with a grin on he face. Artemis rolled his eyes and let go of her hand.
"I do. Does that make you happy?" In response Holly began laughing at him.
Lost Colony:
Artemis growled when he saw Minerva. He didn't like her just at the sight of her, and that was because of his werewolf side. A nudge from Butler stopped the werewolf's anger, but it was obvious that if anyone had thought of getting the two together it wouldn't work out.
They were preparing the magical circle when Qwan said they needed 5 magical members. Artemis had been feeling strange after taking the magic in the stream and now understood why. He now had magic in him, but it was also awakening the werewolf magic. Before it couldn't be accessed, but now the fairy magic was changing it to the point where he could use it willingly. And it was almost as powerful as demon magic, though it was usually only used for healing.
Artemis was going to have plenty of fun with it for sure.
He paused in front of the door, his fist raised to knock. Suddenly he was very nervous and skittish, feeling more like his animal side than he had been in a while. He hadn't been home for three years and now he had twin little brothers. He didn't know what to do, for once in his life. Not to mention what would happen between his werewolf self and his little brothers...
Butler placed a comforting hand on his shoulder before unlocking and opening the door. Inside it seemed empty, but they could hear cheerful sounds coming from the living room. Artemis steeled his nerves, knowing what he had to do, and followed Butler inside.
Time Paradox:
His magic was as powerful as a demon's, if not more. Why wasn't he healing her? Why wasn't she getting better? He didn't want to lose her, not again... Artemis felt like he wanted to cry as he tried so hard to help his mother with his werewolf magic. he had nearly lost her once, he didn't want to go through it again, no matter what.
But if his magic was so powerful, why wasn't it working?
Holly was trying not to laugh at Artemis. After they arrived, they found that, most likely because of his werewolf DNA, Artemis' hair had grown a lot longer than normal, even for a 20-year-old. Luckily there were some scissors to trim his hair, even if it wasn't at the correct length. As long as his hair hid his face (even at the chin-length it was at after the cutting), his younger self shouldn't be able to recognize him.
When he was in Opal's clutches, the werewolf was both a good and bad thing. It allowed him to fight off the drug, but scared the stuffing out of the animals. Actually, that was more of a good thing, since that made them stampede, which he needed. Though it was hard to get the Quagga under control when he needed it, which was possibly the only bad thing about the scenario.
"Now I see the resemblance." Artemis the younger mused after the elder trimmed his hair again, "But you seem more...predatory. May I ask why?"
"If I told you, even if you are my younger self, you may not believe me."
"I would like to see you try."
"Alright. After my second adventure with the fairies, I was bitten by a werewolf, which has drastically changed my life. Thank yourself for not being one yet."
"I could easily avoid being bitten."
"Then I would cease to exist and we wouldn't be having this conversation. That is the whole point of a paradox, is it not?"
"True." Artemis the younger mused, "And your plan?" Artemis the elder grinned, showing sharp teeth.
"I thought you might want to ask about that."
Artemis smiled after he had shot Opal. It felt good to be able to hit something with things besides his claws and fists for once. He had also proved he could hit something with a gun! He wasn't a hopeless shot! And yet, the werewolf was raring to tear the pixie to pieces. However, if she didn't survive and go back to her time, his timeline wouldn't exist. He wouldn't have gotten involved with the Goblin Revolution like he had, he wouldn't have recovered his memories... He wouldn't have become a werewolf.
This made Artemis pause. What was better, not being a werewolf and having a different timeline or staying the way he was? Without Opal, he wouldn't have his friends, nor would he have his memories. But without her, he wouldn't be a werewolf. Which was better? One snap of the neck would decide it, that's all...
Quickly shaking his head, he stepped away. No, having friends was worth the pain he felt during every transformation. Otherwise he would still be cold and cruel, just like his younger self. Killing Opal wasn't worth it, no matter how appealing it was.
Here's the epilogue and some scenes from the other books affected by Orion, Artemis' werewolf side. Anyway, the next story in this trilogy takes place shortly after the Time Paradox, but before the Atlantis Complex. Anyway, thank you for all the reviews, follows, and favorites for this story! Read & Review, and hopefully the next part will be out soon!
EDIT: I've been thinking about writing a little side story to this, about what happened when Artemis had been mindwiped. How would Orion go about his business? Would Artemis and Butler figure it out? Would the fairies keep an eye on him for safety? Would you guys like to read it? I hope you would! That is, as soon as I get around to writing it...
