{Hey guys here is the next chapter! I couldn't wait to write this, I had a brilliant idea and I wanted to write it so bad so that I can share it with all of you. As always, I do not own anything to do with Walking dead just my own characters and anything you do not recognize.}

Daryl and Andrea were gone for most of the night but, I knew Daryl would be okay. When they got back both of them tried to talk to me and get me to move from my spot but, I didn't answer them, and I didn't look at them. Before I knew it, we had arrived at the farm and met the nice family. I breathed a sigh of relief when I found out that Carl was safe thanks to Sean and Odis, the man that shot him. We were told that Odis was only looking for their dinner and as he shot the deer the bullet went clean through and into Carl where it separated upon hitting him. Otis, well, he didn't make it through the run to get the medical supplies from the local college. But Sean did, with a bit of a limp and apparently no more hair but, he made it out.

By the time we arrived the family was having their own funeral for Otis and we followed behind them to pay our respects. I stayed between Rick and Sean, not really wanting to stand anywhere near Daryl. I knew I was being childish but, I was becoming hurt and angry with his words. I just wanted my son back. There was a small stack of rocks under a huge tree that they family explained the purpose of the rock was one rock per person for every family member they had ever lost. As the small blonde that had been introduced to us as Beth, put the last rock on the pile, Hershel began to speak, "Blessed be god, father of our lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to him for the gift of our brother Otis, for his span of years, for his abundance of character. Otis who gave his life to save a child's, now more than ever our most precious asset. We thank you god, for the peace he enjoys in your embrace. He died as he lived in grace."

It was a beautiful speech, it truly was. I didn't know the man, hell hadn't even met him but, I could feel the love that surrounded this family when these words were spoken. It wasn't the only thing I felt at that moment. I felt Sean's body sway and tense beside me. When I looked at him, he looked like he was in a far-off place, almost with a pained look on his face. I squinted my eyes as I watched him closer, with a horrible feeling in my stomach. "Shane will you speak for Otis?" Hershel asked him

But, Sean still hadn't moved or responded to his name "Sean?" I whispered to get his attention as I elbowed him softly. He looked at me confused and I raised my eyebrows at him, "Hershel asked you to speak for Otis?"

He cleared his throat as he looked over to the family, "I'm not good at it I'm sorry." He made an excuse to them

The grieving widow, Patricia broken voice pleaded with him, "You were the last one with him, you shared his final moments…please? I need to hear, I need to know his death had meaning."

"Okay…we were about done, almost out of ammo. We were down to pistols by then, I was limping, it was bad. Ankle all swollen up 'We've got to save the boy.' See that's what he said. He gave me his backpack, he shoved me ahead. 'Run,' he said, 'I'll take the rear I'll cover you.' And when I looked back," Sean breathing increased as he reached the end before limping towards the pile of rocks and placing a new one on the pile, "If not for Otis I'd never made it out alive and that goes for Carl too. It was Otis he saved us both. If any death ever had meaning, it was his." As he finished his sentence he looked back at Patricia to see her nodding her head

My eyes narrowed at him, something wasn't right. He reminded me of my son when he was lying, he was so bad at it. Sean wouldn't look anyone in the eye not for very long, he was trembling and twitching especially when talking about Otis. He was hiding something, and my gut feeling grew wondering what actually happened. This story he was spinning was going to be something bad and I knew it. What did you do Sean?

~~TWD~~

The family were nice enough to allow us a fresh change of clothes and a shower and a meal. I was relaxed and ready to roll by the time we hurdled around the hood of the truck as Maggie spread a map of the area on it. Hershel came to stand beside me and asked, "How long has this boy and girl been lost?"

"This will be day three." Rick answered

"County survey map shows terrain and elevations." Maggie explained as she rolls it open

"This is perfect. We can finally get this thing organized. We'll grid the whole area, start searching in teams." Rick began to get motivated, hope brimming in his eyes

"Not you, not today. You gave three units of blood. You wouldn't be hiking five minutes in this heat before passing out." Hershel stopped him before turning to face Sean, "And your ankle, push it now you'll be laid up a month no good to anybody."

"Guess its just me. I'm gonna head back to the creek work my way from there." Daryl pushed his way forward to grab the map

"Excuse me but, I'm going out there to." Daryl looked over at me shocked I had said anything to him

But before Daryl could say anything Sean spoke up, "I can still be useful. I'll drive up to the interstate see if Sophia or Christian wandered back."

"Alright tomorrow then, we'll start doing this right." Rick finalized the plan

"That means we can't have our people out there with just knives. They need the gun training we've been promising them." Sean spoke once again stopping Rick from leaving

Silence settled among us for a minute before Hershel spoke up with his concern, "I'd prefer you not carrying guns on my property. We've managed so far without turning this into an armed camp."

"All due respect you get a crowd of those things wandering in here-" Sean began to protest

"Look we're guest here. This is your property and we will respect that." Rick laid down the law and was the first one to release his weapon

In a way I did agree with Sean, it was better to be safe then sorry. But, this man was kind enough to open his land to us and it was our safest spot with the most coverage to find the kids. We couldn't stay on that highway forever at least here, it kept people calm and at bay long enough for us to find them. I wasn't going to risk that either. "Hershel, I understand why you wouldn't want us to carry. But we have relied on them for a sense of safety. Maybe we could allow Dale to carry his gun just to keep watch at the tree line. Dale is very gun conscious and wouldn't harm a soul unless it would protect us, protect you and this peaceful untouched farm you have."

Hershel looked over to Dale and after he thought about it for a moment, he nodded "Okay but, just that one."

Sean and Andrea were reluctant but handed it over anyways. "First things first, set camp, find Sophia and Christian."

Sean's eyes landed on mine and I didn't enjoy the way he made me feel under them. "I hated to be the one to ask but, somebody's got to. What happens if we find either one of them and their bit? I think we should all be clear on how we handle that."

"Handle what? There ain't anything to handle there not bit." I denied

I knew there is always that chance, but I refuse to believe that. I needed to believe that my son was alive if there was a god all my praying was going into those kids and their survival. I didn't want to listen to this anymore, if they wanted to make plans for the what if's then that was fine but, I wasn't going to listen. I turned on my heel and left them all behind. As I left Ricks words haunted me, "You do what has to be done."

I clenched my fists in anger and I just kept walking until I ran into the fence that surrounded the fence. I crawled over and placed my back against the post. I placed my hands into my hair and squeezed lightly as the urge to scream in frustration. I sighed and released my hair as I knocked my head back against the post. I pulled my knees to my chest and placed my elbows on my knees. I looked around at the serene landscape and I closed my eyes as I began to focus on my surroundings. The crickets chirping, the wind blowing across the grass making the slightest whistling sound and a distinct clopping sound that just kept getting louder and louder. In that moment I thought back to the days when life was easier.

I thought back to the farm with my parents and with Daryl. The moments where I learned about the hardships of life from my father and the quiet nights with hot cocoa with my mother at the fireplace with a book in each of our hands. The nights Daryl would sneak through my window when nights were rough at home. The sweet and simple moments I missed so badly. A whimper left my lips as I chocked on a sob. "Its Paige right?" a soft voice spoke out to me

Another sigh escaped my lips and I opened my eyes to see two beautiful horses in front of me and Maggie was perched on top. She was looking at me with worry in her eyes and I brushed my tears away. "Yeah," I cleared my throat in discomfort, "Is there something I can do for you?"

Maggie looked out across the field before she spoke, "Its beautiful isn't it? Its almost like the what's happening out there didn't happen. My daddy doesn't believe it is that bad out there but, I've been out there. Me and Otis are the only ones that really know what's going on, how bad it really is. He believes that there sick, that someone out there will make everyone better, if we just wait."

I looked out into the field again thinking about the conversation I had just left, "Its almost serene you know the view you have here. I think in a world like this to have a view like your father is unrealistic but, in a world like this that little bit of hope is what we need."

"One of the kids that's missing he's yours, right?" she asked

I looked back to her to see that she was looking at me again, "Yes…mine and Daryl's. It's a long story but, I wish he was here. Not just because he is missing but, because he always wanted to live on a farm. I used to tell him stories of what it was like and in turn that's what he wanted. He wanted the horses, the cows and chicken hell he wanted it all." My voice began to tremble

I took that away from him when I allowed Merle to force me out of everyone's life. "You know their wrong right? You can't give up hope yet, he needs his mom and if you loose hope now so will the rest of your group. The others need a back up plan but, you don't because you will bring him back here. Just believe in whatever its gonna take to get you there."

For someone who only knew me for a short time, I appreciated her kindness. She seemed liked someone who would be blunt honest and protect what's hers. But, in this moment I needed to hear what she said. I nodded my head and decided to change the subject, "Where are you off to?"

"I'm going into town with Glenn I believe this name was."

"Town?"

"Yeah its just down the road. I need to pick up some more things for Carl and the house and I understand your group also needs things."

I nodded my head before placing my chin on my knees, "Be safe…careful." I warned her

We had enough death around us we didn't need more. I trusted Glenn though if there was one thing, I understood it was that Glenn knew his way around and could make it in and out of the hairiest of situations. I thought about the town wondering if maybe the kids found it, maybe they found a place to hide. The horse's past by my vision but when they stopped, I looked up at her and she had a smile on her face, "Why don't you come with us? Maybe there will be some sign that they are there or were?" Maggie asked like she had read my mind

I didn't know how often they went there, and I didn't want to waste the opportunity. "Please." I said as I smiled back at her

I walked beside the horse towards the group. Maggie said she would call for me when she was ready to leave with Glenn. I walked over to where Daryl was with Rick getting ready to leave. I cleared my throat to get their attention, "I'm going with Maggie and Glenn into town. I'm going to look for the kids or a sign they were there at anytime."

Daryl didn't look impressed, "Your gonna separate from the group and go with that stranger." He asked with anger laced in his voice

"That stranger brought us here and she has a name its Maggie. Beside Glenn is going with her." I argued back as I crossed my arms over my chest

"Glenn? That's your argument he wouldn't know how to protect you." His voice began to rise

"Its an opportunity to cover more ground Daryl, I'm not going to argue. I'm going whether you want me to or not, it isn't your choice," I spat back and began to walk away but, I quickly turned around and pointed a finger at him, "And I can protect myself, I do not need Glenn or Maggie, I do not need Rick or Sean and I don't need you!"

For the second time today, I stormed away and went straight for Maggie who was laughing at Glenn's attempts to get on the horse behind her. I could help the giggle either and Glenn turned quickly towards me with a glare, "Yes laugh at me, don't help me though." he said upset and no doubt embarrassed

"Come on Glenn put one foot in the holster and grab the saddle. Put your weight all on the foot in the holster and use that to pull yourself up. Swing your leg over and you'll be fine. The horse can take it." I instructed him on how to get on as I did it myself

"Are you ready?" Maggie asked me as she held the reins tight in her hands

"As I will ever be." I replied looking in the direction I left Rick and Daryl.

I didn't see Daryl anymore just Rick who was looking between the forest and me with his hands on his hips. I grabbed the reins and steered my horse to follow Maggie.

~~TWD~~

It was a pretty quiet ride being that we didn't want to alert any walkers to our presence but, soon enough Glenn spoke up not being able to take the silence anymore. "You know normally this is the kind of thing I'd do on my own. Solo. Its sort of my thing you know? I'm a bit of a loner." Glenn said with a chuckle

I smiled as I kept looking ahead, it was cute he liked Maggie and it was so obvious. Maggie didn't say anything back, so he asked, "You all right?"

"I'm fine." Maggie replied

"I saw the look on your face back at the well. Never seen one killed up close before? Guess its kind of a shock." Glenn continued, "You know being out on the road we've seen a lot. Guess we've gotten a little numb to it.

"The well? What happened at the well?" I asked obviously missing something

"Oh, earlier after we made the game plan at the house. We tried to go get water from a well but, there was a walker in it, all wrinkled and prune looking. I went in to help pull it up and we killed it." He said as if it was nothing

"Excuse me? Why you? Why anyone that was reckless." I frowned at him

"We couldn't get the rope around him and it didn't react to the ham we put in there."

"Why don't you tell her how that turned out." Maggie mumbled under her breath

I narrowed my eyes at Glenn not truly knowing if I wanted to actually hear it. Glenn looked away from me as he answered, "I almost fell all the way in, the rope slipped. Once we managed to pull it up, the pants got caught and the walker separated."

My face pinched in disgust as I thought about what that would have looked like but, I could feel my anger simmering at how stupid they were, "So not only were you and everyone else reckless and had to kill the walker anyways you could've died for no good reason. Are you stupid?"

He looked at me shocked and opened his mouth to say something, but I raised my hand to cut him off, "Nope I don't want to hear it."

Now I could understand why Maggie was so upset. "Whoa," Maggie urged their horse to stop before she said quietly, "I guess so."

I did the same but, as I looked at Maggie, I could tell that was not what was upsetting her. We dismounted and tied the horses up so they wouldn't leave without us. We walked up to the pharmacy after and I looked at the sign in the window. While the world was busy ending someone took the time to write a note on a piece of cardboard that said take what you need, and god bless. I snickered before I opened the door to the pharmacy to start to find the things we needed. The pharmacy was basically empty, and I hoped we could find what we needed. "I'll go see what antibiotics are left what else is on the list?" Maggie said as she walked by me

Glenn dug into his back pocket and pulled out a piece of paper and began to read it before passing me and Maggie each a piece of paper. "Why don't you two get started?" he suggested

I read over the list and nodded my head. It was pretty simple things like water and food obviously top of the list along with other essential things or simple pain meds or first aid supplies. "What about you?" Maggie asked

"I'm gonna look around see what's worth grabbing. Just some general stuff." He explained

We all went our separate ways as we began to search for things. Maggie went behind the counter and we spent a few minutes searching what was left. As I walked by Glenn, I saw him crouched on the floor with what looked to be a pregnancy test box in his hands. I was confused Glenn definitely wasn't sleeping with anyone yet at least. The only people sleeping together would be Rick and Lori…fuck. I shook my head as I walked away, no way was I getting into that mess right now. All I could hope for was that it wasn't true or at least was a false result. We couldn't populate in this world the way it is now. Not without shelter, protection and security. If that was ever going to be possible even. And honestly even then that was probably not the smartest idea. Children let alone babies should not grow up in this world. I went to the front and began to go through the list to make sure nothing was missed. I heard Glenn and Maggie talking about condoms he had in his hands. I raised my eyebrows and tried not to laugh. "You're a pretty confident guy." I heard Maggie state

"No-no I would never-" Glenn stuttered

"Something wrong with me?" Maggie teased

"No, I-I I would never have sex…ugh I'm-I'm lost." Glenn chocked over his words

"I'll have sex with you." Maggie stated without a pause in her words

I raised my hand, "And that is my cue to leave. I'm gonna look around for the kids." I told them as I departed ways with them

I walked out of the pharmacy and looked up and down the road. It wasn't that big of a town, I could see one side of the town to the other from where I stood. I figured I would give them there time together god knows I didn't want to see that let alone the fact that I wanted sex myself…it had been so long. I sighed before I drew my bow and kept an arrow strung just in case. I searched every house I could get to and any shop that wasn't locked. I killed a few walkers but, nothing to intense that I couldn't handle. But, still no sign of the kids. By the time I made it back to the pharmacy, Glenn and Maggie were both leaving as they adjusted their clothes. Glenn had a shit eating grin on his face but, Maggie looked cool as ever. I shook my head and when Glenn attempted to say something I raised my hand to cut him off for the second time today. There were just some things I didn't want to know, "I don't wanna hear it okay, you're both human with needs."

I laughed as I put my bow away and went to get on my horse. "Paige?"

I felt my body freeze and goosebumps rise on every part of my skin. I heard Maggie and Glenn turn around and Maggie raise her gun. "Stop right there." Maggie shouted

My breathing quickened and it seemed to go faster as I turned to face the voice. As the view of the person came into view tears quickly sprang to my eyes and fell down my cheeks. "Papa." My voice cracked as my heart stopped
