He rolled his eyes, "What now?"
She looked down and plucked at the blanket, "Stefan?"
Damon sighed deeply.
"We have a lot to discuss," Damon explained.
"Like what? Damon I missed this place. This is our home. I don't think we should leave again. Being here feels right, normal almost, and school, and everyone," Adeline began.
"I know Addie. I missed it too," he admitted, "I think we should just lay low for a little while though."
I nodded and smirked, "So yeah uh, no school?"
"No school for tomorrow, just a long weekend, hopefully," Damon explained.
"Yes!" She exclaimed happily. She was due for some time off. She smiled and stretched out on the bed before wincing.
He shook his head and smirked, "Oh Addie, this is going to be nothing like a vacation little girl. Think of it more as...rehab."
She narrowed her eyes at him, "Rehab from what?"
Damon sighed, "You see little sis, when a guy vamp and a girl vamp love each other very much..."
"Ew Damey come on!" Adeline said waving her hand at him in protest.
"Aw come on I was just getting to the good part," Damon said, faking disappointment.
"Ugh please spare me!" Adeline laughed.
"Fine little sis. But once this weekend is over you are never going to want to even think about blood sharing again, you can count on that," He said, "How do you feel now?"
"My butt still hurts," She answered honestly.
He smirked, "As it should, but that's not what I meant."
She thought for a second, trying to analyze the rest of her physical state, "I'm not sure. My throat's a little sore but that's about it."
He nodded, "Alright sleep then, now."
She nodded and crawled up to the top of the bed before burrowing down in between the sheets, "Night brother." In her head she sent a silent 'good night' to Stefan as she always had before drifting off into sleep.
Adeline's eyes fluttered open sleepily, and she was surprised by the face she saw in front of her, "Good morning my beautiful lady." She blushed before looking around. Elijah's room? How did she get there?
"I missed you. I am so glad that you came back," Elijah spoke softly running his fingers through her hair.
She smiled, "Me too."
"Nothing can come between us," Elijah said, "Your brothers understand this now. We will be together for eternity," Elijah stopped rubbing and offered his wrist to her, "Drink, you'll feel better."
She turned her head and slowly began to sink her teeth in but nothing came out. Her throat was burning and all she wanted was a drink. The burning intensified and she grabbed at her throat. She looked to Elijah for help and a creepy smile spread across his face, "hurts doesn't it?"
He got off the bed and crossed his arms, "I offered you my help before and yet you refused. Now I guess you'll just have to suffer the consequences."
"Elijah no," She cried reaching out to him, "Please! Don't do this. It burns!" She clutched her throat and started shaking.
"Addie! Adeline!," Damon called, "Wake up!"
Adeline's eyes opened and she took a minute to adjust her sight, "D-Da Ow! It Burns!" She felt her throat again and tears came to her eyes, "This is...?"
Damon sighed and rubbed his sister's hair, "He was an original. His blood will be harder for you to forget, especially after how much you had. Does it hurt a lot?"
"It feels like I am drinking vervain," She answered. Damon was unsure of what to say, he had tried to mentally prepare himself for the tough love act he would be dishing out, and he was Damon so of course he could pull it off. But underneath it all he could not help but feel sorry for his little sister, he wouldn't show it though.
"Take me back," Adeline whined.
Damon narrowed his eyes, "What?"
"Take me to him! Please Damon it hurts so bad! Please, I have to drink..."
Damon cut her off, "No you have to go back to bed. Drinking now will only increase your dependence on..."
"I don't care!" Adeline yelled, rubbing her neck as she spoke, "Take me there now!"
Damon smacked her thigh to get her attention, "Who the hell do you think you are talking to Adeline?" Adeline met his eyes and shuddered at the look she saw within them, "Please Damon, just a little tiny sip? Please?"
Damon clenched his teeth together in anger, "My sister I have been VERY lenient with you so far, but new rule; If I so much as hear that vampire's name from your mouth or any mention of him within the next decade." Adeline huffed and threw herself back on the bed. She glared at the ceiling angrily as she tried to block out his rambling.
"Do you hear me?" Damon asked.
"Yes Damon! Everyone can hear you. I got it okay just let me be," Adeline let a few tears fall as she turned to her side. She felt terrible and guilty for talking to her brother like that. They never fight, at least not very often. He had always been there for her and encouraged her in his insufferable Damon-like attitude way, but never had being with him made her feel so angry. She normally tried her best to be like him, and make him proud, but now he stood before her as an obstacle blocking all that she wanted... All she could even manage to think about... "Elijah."
Damon had left the room to calm himself, but he had remained by the door. Hearing his little sister whisper the older vampire's name set a fire through Damon like nothing he could have ever imagined. But luckily for her, she was not his target at the moment. Damon bit his lip angrily and paced for a brief second before taking off in the other direction at a speed he had never relinquished. He didn't know what he was planning on doing, and he didn't even give himself a chance to think about it as he ran.
The doorbell rang and Elijah hushed his siblings and straightened his jacket. He could tell by the scent that Damon was alone, and wondered what exactly he would propose. Maybe he had come to make a deal? He opened the door and was caught off guard by the sudden forceful blow. He stumbled sideways grasping his now bleeding head. Another sharp pain shot through his ribs next causing him to double over. Elijah was normally pretty quick on his feet but Damon had the element of surprise on his side, and he was definitely pissed.
Elijah held up his hand to his siblings who had now come to see what all the commotion had been about. Rebekah hissed, baring her fangs at Damon.
"Get inside," Elijah ordered, "Now!
Rebekah looked hurt at the sudden and angry reprimand that had come from her brother's lips. She had only wanted to help him. She slammed the door shut as she retreated into the house.
Elijah spit blood, but his wounds had already healed themselves, "If you are quite done now we can,"
Damon cut him off, tackling him before he could finish. He was holding a broken tree branch and had already driven it in Elijah's arm before Elijah had a chance to defend himself. Elijah groaned in pain, and clenched his teeth. Damon twisted the stake back and forth enjoying the sounds he made. He knew he couldn't kill the bastard, as much as he wanted too, but he could have his fun. He grinned evilly, pushing the stake in further.
"Enough!" Elijah yelled. In less than a second he had tore the sharp implement from his arm, flipped Damon over and lightly pierced his chest with it. Just enough to draw blood and send a message. Elijah could have killed Damon if he wanted to but he chose not to.
"Stop!" Adeline yelled.
Elijah stood and offered his hand to Damon who smacked it away. He stood to and glared at his little sister, and back to Elijah.
"Damon please," Adeline approached them, 'It's not his fault. He was only trying to help. You are taking your anger out on the wrong person. It was me Damon, I caused all of this. I can't express to either of you how sorry I am. Please forgive me?" Damon rolled his eyes but nodded. Elijah smirked and nodded as well.
"And each other?" She asked. Damon sighed and faced Elijah.
"I honestly had no intention of causing your sister any harm when I," Elijah cleared his throat,"did what I did. I just wanted to help, our families have grown and become friends. We should look out for each other. I swear if anything like this ever were to happen again I would try to help, differently. But in the moment that is all I could think of to do."
Damon nodded, "I would appreciate that."
"How is she doing?" Elijah asked Damon.
It was Adeline's turn to roll her eyes, "I'm fine. My throat burns but it's my fault and I'll get over it. Um, Sir. Anyways would you mind telling Tyler I won't be at school tomorrow but I'm okay?" Damon narrowed his eyes at her. Elijah smirked once more.
"Oh for the love of blood, No! It's not like that. I just don't want him to worry alright?" She asked them.
Adeline threw her arms in the air and turned away, "Whatever, I'm going home! Well back to Ric's!"
All three were oblivious to Tyler's silent laughter from his window above, or the twinge of disappointment he felt in knowing that she would not be in school the next day.
