They arrived at the large castle by nightfall and were escorted to their rooms to change for dinner. Once changed they made their way down to the dining hall. The door opened and Kagome gasped at the size and extravagance of the room. She was amazed at the beauty. 'Not even Sesshomaru's is this big!' She thought to herself.
They were escorted to their seats and she looked around the table and noticed many female demons glaring at her. She rolled her eyes and looked over to Sesshomaru and saw him looking up to the head of the table. There sat a older demon that looked very intimidating. He looked to be slightly taller than Sesshomaru white graying hair a cut across his left eye which his eyes were a piercing red and he wore heavy set spiked armor over a red and black samurai outfit. She bit her lip when he stared straight at her but she did not look away. She felt Sesshomaru's hand on her leg and smiled back at him. There was a deep clearing of a throat and everyone faced towards the head of the table in silence.
"Welcome everyone to the High Court. As you know there is some talk of war. I know we all want to discuss this immediately but as it is so late we will instead have dinner and will meet at first light. So eat my friends!"
After the mans speech servants entered and began placing food on the table. Kagome smiled happily at the food and inhaled the smells sharply and began loading her plate. She happily began eating ignoring the looks she got from the other women. She heard a strong laugh from her left and looked up seeing the man from the head of the table staring down at her.
"You must be very hungry. I understand completely from when my own mate was pregnant. She almost ate us out of house and home!" He laughed again and clapped Sesshomaru on the back congratulating him.
'Pregnant?' Kagome asked herself. She stared down at her stomach in wonder. 'That would explain so much!' She smiled and looked over at Sesshomaru. He had a small smile on his face. She beamed with happiness.
She looked up at the man. "I had no idea I was pregnant. How could you tell?" She asked.
He laughed. "Well for one the way you are eating. And for another thing you have two auras coming off of you even if the second is faint. You must be in you first two weeks." He explained.
Kagome laughed. "Well thank you for explaining things. I am Kagome, Sesshomaru's mate." She stood and bowed.
He bowed back. "There is no need for you to introduce yourself. You are well known throughout this country for your extroidinary bravery and in defeating Naraku and ridding this world of that offending jewel!" He boldly exclaimed. "On behalf of all Japan we thank you for your efforts." He bowed low.
Kagome blushed and Sesshomaru patted her hand affectionately. "Oh you don't have to thank me. If it weren't for my friends I don't think I would have made it. It truly was a group effort."
He laughed again. "Be that as it may we are deeply grateful. Now for me to introduce myself. My name is Ken'ichi High Court Commander and Chief."
She smiled. "It is very nice to meet you."
"No it is my pleasure to meet you Kagome." He bowed again.
"If you are done flirting with my mate Commander we would like to retreat to our quarters for the night." Sesshomaru said lightly.
Ken'ichi turned to Sesshomaru and laughed. "Yes of course Sesshomaru! I apologize. Sometimes I can't help myself around such beautiful women. You know me."
Sesshomaru smiled slightly and motioned for Kagome to stand. He placed his hand on her back and bowed to Ken'ichi one last time. "Goodnight Commander. I am looking forward to the meeting." With that he and Kagome left the room and headed for their room. Once there Sesshomaru took Kagome into his arms and kissed her passionately.
Kagome giggled and placed her hands on his chest pushing him slightly away. "We're pregnant! Oh I am so happy!" She exclaimed.
Sesshomaru kissed her again and kneeled down in front of her and placed his hands on her stomach. "As am I my love."
"Do you think it's a boy or a girl?" She asked curiously.
"We will find out here in 6 weeks. Demon children grow at a quicker rate so 6 weeks is about 16 weeks in human time." He explained.
Kagome absorbed the information thoroughly and finally asked the next important question. "What do you wish the baby to be?"
Sesshomaru stood and stared down at his beautiful mate and wrapped his arms around her small waist. "I do not care either way. As long as they are strong and healthy."
She smiled and leaned her head on his chest. "I love you Sesshomaru. I am so happy to be your mate."
He pulled her to the bed and covered them with the blanket placing her head on his chest. "I love you too my beautiful mate."
They laid there just enjoying each others company. Kagome fell asleep quickly. Sesshomaru ran his fingers through her hair and smiled thinking to himself. "I can't believe I am going to be a father. Kami I hope I am a good father." He fell asleep thinking about their future lives together.
