Sirius
Remus spent the summer in Alabama yet it was the story of my Wilde summer that my three friends wanted to hear.
"I swear," I told them for the third time, "nothing happened."
Remus nodded thoughtfully but James wasn't about to give up, "Nothing at all? You were at a girl's house for a week and nothing happened? Who the bloody hell are you and what have you done with Sirius?"
"Siriously," I started and the three of them groaned at my overused pun, "we didn't do anything. She didn't even seem the slightest bit interested."
Remus grinned "Let's not be riddikulus, we all know that that isn't true." I high-fived him for his efforts in the pun making.
To my surprise it was Peter who came up with the next argument, "But you're the player! All the girls want you, or at least all the girls find you attractive. You're the guy who slept with all the female players on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team."
"Not to mention the guy who dated both of the Diggory sisters at the same time." James added.
"All the girls are interested in you." Peter cried.
"But she wasn't," I muttered more to myself than to them, "why wasn't she interested in me?"
I was half way through asking James why he had given me the wrong address when I saw Remus' head turn as he watched a certain curly haired cousin of mine walk past the compartment. That's odd, why the hell would Remus be checking out Bellatrix? I mean sure Bella could be nice and all when she wanted to be but she definitely wasn't Moony's type.
He usually went for the quiet girls, the shy and pretty ones; he liked the ones who were super smart and who liked to study the magic rather than use it. He himself was a quiet guy, the sensible one out of the four of us. Bellatrix was wild and when she let herself loose, no one wanted to be in the way. She was nice of course, sweet even, if you got her in the right mood, but she was like me; she was wild and cocky, definitely not shy.
I was interrupted from my thoughts by James answering my question about why he had given me the wrong address to his house. "It was Alex's idea, not mine!" He raised his hands in defence. Unfortunately, that just made me doubt what his intentions were to start with.
I huffed slightly when I realised he wasn't going to say anything more.
"If we're talking about this, imagine what the girls are saying." James grinned thoughtfully.
A minute later James and Peter were playing exploding snap while Remus read, it was then that I announced that I was going to find the food trolley. I slipped out the door, though not before catching James' amused expression.
I made my way down the corridor as I tried to find Emily's compartment. I wasn't even sure why I was going to see her; it was like my body was acting on its own.
The old lady pushing the food trolley was making her way closer; it was like we were playing chicken to see who would move first.
Suddenly I saw familiar faces in the compartment next to me. I moved to open the door but the lady glared at me crossly and I squished myself in the gap so she could pass.
"You had Sirius Black staying at your house for three days and you didn't think to tell us?" Came the twins' voices from inside the carriage. I stayed where I was for a moment, interested.
"Yeah, it wasn't a big deal…" Emily's voice trailed off slightly and for some strange reason I was insulted that she summed it up to that.
"NOT A BIG DEAL? He was in your house, sleeping in the spare room and using your bathroom! You probably saw him in pyjamas! OHMIGOSH YOU ACTUALLY SAW HIM IN PYJAMAS DIDN'T YOU!?" Alex chimed in and I stifled a laugh.
"It was fun, nothing else…. And well, he doesn't actually wear any pyjamas…." I could practically hear Emily blush as I replayed the bedroom scene from this morning in my head.
Alex squealed, "YOU SAW HIM NAKED?"
"No, he wouldn't be entirely naked otherwise our Emily couldn't stand to be in front of him this afternoon. Our girl is too innocent for that…" One of the twins interrupted, I assumed Rumour based on the matter-of-fact way that she was speaking, but you could never be too sure with those two.
"Hold the story for one second girls, I want a chocolate frog." Said the other twin and I didn't even have time to react before she was stepping out of the compartment, folding her arms and smirking at me.
She raised an eyebrow, "Hear anything that sparked an interest?" Rain asked, the small teardrop tattoo on her left wrist being the only indicator that I was indeed talking to her and not her sister.
I winked, "Not at all."
She poked her head back into the room, "The black one is here to see us girls."
"The black one? Couldn't come up with anything better could you?" I frowned, crossing my own arms.
She shrugged and grinned, "Short on time, sorry." With that she sauntered off down the train's hallway in search of the trolley.
As I turned to face the compartment of girls in front of me Rumour smirked, "Missing our gorgeous faces already Black? Or…" She raised her eyebrows in delight, "Are you here to see just one of us?" She tipped her to the side slightly in the direction of Emily, who I might add was completely oblivious to the whole conversation as she sat with her face already stuck in the pages of a book.
"Oh hey Sirius, what are you…ohhhhhhh." Alex trailed off as her head whipped around to look at Emily. Alex gave me an evil grin that seemed to say all of her mastermind plans had worked.
How was it that these girls realised I was here to see Emily? And why were they making such a big bloody deal over it? Though I have to admit Em did look rather pretty while reading, she looked so peaceful and every now and then her lips would quirk up into a smile that had nothing to do with what was going on around her and everything to do with the characters in her book.
I sat down opposite her and glared slightly at Alex who was making kissy faces at me. I looked at Emily expectantly and then upon realising that she wasn't going to acknowledge my presence I spoke. "Hey, Wilde…" I trailed off as she shot me a glare that was almost as dark as my last name.
"Woah I didn't accidently kill your cat did I?" I asked as she went back to reading.
She sighed and marked the page of her book. "Sirius, if a girl is reading you don't just interrupt her. A girl who reads hates being interrupted while reading and therefore she is going to hate the person who interrupted her." Emily replied, her hand subconsciously reaching for her book again.
"Okay sorry Wilde, my sympathy to the next poor bloke who tries to get your attention. I just wanted to know what your address was so that I could send Zoe some of Dumbledore's beard."
Rumour looked at me and her mouth twitched into a slight mocking smile, despite her name she was really good at telling lies from the truth and I had a feeling that she knew that Dumbledore's beard had nothing to do with me being in the compartment.
Emily gave me her address and I was saved from further teasing –from Alex- because James had just stopped outside the compartment and was waving idiotically at me. I raised my eyebrows at Alex and made a kissy face right back at her when she saw James standing at the door, then I walked out of the compartment and went off with James to find Remus and Peter.
