HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

"You guys okay?"

"Troy!"

"Emma!"

Troy held his throbbing head in pain as he felt the presence of his teammates rush next to him and Emma. His vision was fading back to him as the world became clearer. But his head had been full of pressure and unable to stop pumping. He didn't expect Dizchord's attack to be so strong and full on. He groaned as Noah's figure took place in his view and helped him sit up. Jake had been doing the same thing with Emma, who was rubbing her temples and screwing her eyes shut.

"We let that monster get away!" Troy groaned in a rough voice.

"We'll get him next time, man." Jake assured him.

"I hope so…" he sighed. He looked to each of his teammates, and cursed to himself as he realized that there was a chance that he looked pathetic. The team leader let himself get shot down. He couldn't look so weak.

He stood and brushed himself up as the rest of his team demorphed. Letting out a wincing cry, he looked to his pink ranger on the ground. Instantly, his hand reached out to her.

Emma, her vision clearing up, felt Gia's hand supportively on her back but Troy's arm extended down to her. She blinked a few times before softly grabbing his hands while Troy pulled her up, gently so to not put any pressure on her.

"You okay?" Troy coughed.

"Yeah," she nodded. "You?"

"I'm fine."

Troy searched her eyes for a second as she used her free hand to massage her temples. He tried to see if she really was fine, if he saw any bruises or scratches or blood that he could at least help with. He would never be able to see one of his teammates…friends get hurt.

Then Troy looked away from Emma's deep eyes, over her shoulder, and finally caught the glances of his other two male rangers. Jake had a bemused grin on his face, an eyebrow arched up and a small smirk blanketed under his smile. Noah's eyes averted his and he looked down immediately, his lips pursed crookedly. It was obvious he had been laughing.

"Oh!" Troy and Emma both exclaimed as they looked at each other, down at their hands that were adjoined, and back up, before tearing themselves away from each other. From behind them, Jake snickered, earning a hit from a grinning Noah.

"Sorry…" Emma muttered quietly, but looked right at Troy for him to hear.

"Don't worry…" he mouthed back to let her know it was okay.

Emma smiled back in reply, and then looked around to her teammates. "Why are you guys still here?" she asked, a bit oblivious to the fact that they had been watching.

"Oh, no reason." Jake sighed with that same grin. "I think we just like traveling in a pack. You know, holding each other close. Right, Troy?"

Troy raised an eyebrow at the black ranger, a warning glare pressured under it. Emma's eyes widened a bit as she watched Noah mutter a "shut it" to Jake.

"So are you guys ready to head back to school yet?" Gia's bold voice broke through.

Before anyone could respond quickly enough, Troy and Emma sputtered out their own replies, snippets of "Yeah" and "Of course," thankful that the awkward weight had been lifted. Still muttering replies to the group, the two of them began walking away from them and towards the school, side by side and returning to talking with each other.

Jake took the distance between him and them to break out a small laugh. "Could they be any more discreet?" he said.

"Leave them alone, Jake…" Noah said.

"Dude, he so likes her. She so likes him!"

"Don't be nosy." Gia commanded before walking off herself, behind the smiling pink and red rangers.
