I know, this is so short, but I have my reasons :)
Thank you soooo much for all of your AMAZING reviews, I am so grateful that people really like this story.
...
Izzy was half asleep by the time Simon walked quietly into their apartment at almost midnight. She heard the door close all the way from their bedroom and sat up in bed just enough so that Simon would know she was awake.
"Hey." Izzy mumbled tiredly, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Clary had left not long after their walk to the pet shop, and after that, Izzy had found some time to organize all the baby clothes and other items, and clean the entire apartment. By the time she was finished, it was well past 11 o'clock, so she decided to make some hot chocolate, take a bath, then go to bed. Trying to fall asleep had been very unsuccessful. The moment her body hit the bed, the twins got to work in moving around as much as possible, so that she would stay awake. Of course, now that Simon was home, they no longer needed to continue their job in keeping her up, and they had fallen still.
"How was the party?"
Simon shrugged off his blazer and dropped it on the floor, then kicked his shoes off next to it, climbing into the bed beside Izzy afterwards. "You know, the usual: stippers, alcohol, drugs." He said sarcastically.
"Sounds like fun." Izzy laughed, knowing he was joking.
"It was fun. There was an enormous cake." Simon poked Izzy in the arm. "You would have been all over it."
"Shut up."
"Come on, you know you would have." Simon chuckled.
Izzy rolled her eyes then sighed and turned to look at him, smirking a bit. "I know."
"What did you do with Fray?"
"Well, she made me try on my dress to see if it still fit. And then after that, I'm pretty sure she convinced herself that I'm pregnant with two girls rather than two boys." Her heart started pounding as she approached the topic of the pet shop and the tiny, squirming puppies...and Beau. "We went to a petstore and held the cutest puppies you could ever imagine."
"Do you know what kind of dogs they were?" Simon asked, leaning closer to her.
"Chocolate labs." Izzy looked at Simon. She looked younger without her usual black eyeshadow and mascara applied to make her eyes look sharper and more edged. Now, she was just Isabelle, no makeup; although Simon did notice that there were dark circles smudged under her eyes, and they were ringed with red as if she had been crying. "He had the bluest eyes, and his name fit him perfectly."
"Iz, are you okay?" He asked, and moved his hand to cover hers. It was warm, and she gladly entwined her fingers with his, smiling a tad bit sadly.
"I'm fine; just a little tired and stressed about the party tomorrow. How do you even host two parties in a row? And isn't the engagement party supposed to come before the bachelor party?"
"I guess Magnus and Alec are just doing whatever they feel is best. You have to remember that Magnus does really enjoy throwing parties." Simon hesitated as a broad grin spread across his lips. "I am so glad I didn't get drunk tonight because otherwise, I would have had the worst hangover-"
"Simon, the only thing you can really consume is blood." Izzy laughed.
"Not true; I can drink some wine."
"Yeah, but not as much as me."
"I don't think I'd ever be able to drink as much as you, even if I was human."
Izzy laughed again, leaning her head on Simon's shoulder as the giggles bubbled out of her. "That's probably true." When she stopped laughing, a sigh left her still smiling lips and she kissed Simon's neck softly. "If we did have a daughter, what would you name her?"
"Maybe Layla. I think it's cute. Also, I'm pretty sure it means dark beauty in Arabic which is pretty." Simon's arm went around Izzy's shoulder, and he pulled her towards his body, holding her close.
"I like the sound of that; Layla."
"That reminds me, we haven't thought of a middle name for the boys yet."
Izzy was starting to fall asleep. Her breathing was getting heavier, and she was beginning to sound disistant with each response. "I was thinking maybe James for Kaden...it sounds nice, don't you think?"
"Kaden James. Yeah, I like that. What about Gabriel?"
"What about Max? And should they have your last name?"
Simon hadn't thought about this. Would him and Isabelle even get married? And if they did, when? "Well, I, for one, don't think you should give up your last name. It suits you, and I think that the Lightwoods should go on for a long time."
"You don't think your name would suit me?" Isabelle pulled away from him so that she could look at him fully. A scowl was now set on her lips, replacing the bright smile that was once there only a few seconds ago.
"Iz, I would love for you to have my name, I just think that maybe you should think about it more. So many people know the Lightwoods, and if our kids are going to be shadowhunters, why wouldn't they be Lightwoods?"
"I have been thinking, Simon. I've been thinking about what we're going to do since half of our family is immortal, and the other half isn't. Are Kaden and I just going to die while you and Gabriel live forever? I don't know, for some strange reason, that doesn't sound quite right to me." Isabelle awkwardly started to climb out of the bed, but Simon was at her side and pulling her up in no time. "Don't." She growled, swatting him away. Tears were starting to fall from her eyes, but she just wiped them away angrily.
"Iz, I'm trying to help you." Simon wanted to reach out and touch Izzy, but he knew she would probably just snap at him again.
Izzy's voice dripped sarcasm. "I'm sure since the Lightwoods are so 'legendary', they can pull themselves off of a bed."
"But, you were struggling just a little bit-"
"Because you knocked me up!" She shouted. "I never wanted any of this to happen!" Her hands gestured towards her stomach, and her eyes were so firey and outraged, it felt as if knives were piercing Simon's undead heart every time she looked at him. "But now, everything is different, and it's too late to do anything about it."
Simon felt a breath hitch in his throat, even though he didn't need to breathe at all. "You don't mean that, Iz. You love the twins."
"I don't know, Simon because I certainly don't like what they're doing to me." Isabelle shoved past Simon, to open the closet door and pull on a coat.
"Where are you going?" He asked, his voice hoarse.
"To the Institute, where you can't follow me." The door slammed behind her, making Simon flinch. He wanted to punch something. No, kill would be a much better word to describe his feelings, and he knew he was perfectly capable of doing so. How could he let her slip away like that with just a slip of his words?
...
