All Hell Breaks Loose Part Two- Season 2 Finale Lily paused at the door. Dean was talking. To Sam? He was saying something, but even Lily couldn't hear him. That was something. But she knew he was crying. She heard a chair move and Dean get up. She tried to move fast, but he saw her. "Lily." His eyes were red with tears and he looked awful. She wanted to hug him, but knew she shouldn't. "I'll be back." He shoved past her and out of the house. She peeked into the room she had been avoiding. Sam's lifeless body was laid out on a large cot. She blinked back tears and sat in the chair that had occupied Dean. She grabbed Sam's cold hand. "I can't believe I let this happen... Sam, I'm so sorry." A floorboard creaked. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I tried to stop Azazel's plan." She didn't even bother going into how she knew the Yellow Eyed Demon's name. Sam was dead now. He didn't need to know about her. No one needed to know. Sam sat up, gasping for air. Why couldn't he breathe? His loud noises woke Lily who had fallen asleep in a rather uncomfortable position. She had a knife in her hand, ready to kill. Stab first, ask questions later. Her eyes, dry and swollen from crying, widened when she saw Sam, a very much alive and breathing Sam, trying to breathe. His chest rose and fell, his heart was beating. He looked over at her. "Sam?" She whispered. "How long was I asleep?" He asked, wincing. Asleep. Asleep? She tried to smile but it fell and she began to cry. "Oh Sam. You were asleep for such a long time." She threw her hands around his neck, raising herself on the cot with him. His hands found the bottom of her back, gripping her tight. "Hey, it's not like I died Lily. Chill out." He chuckled. She let out a sob. He had no idea... After they sat for a while, Sam got up. He took to inspecting his back in the mirror. The door to the motel room shut. Dean came rushing into the room and he hugged Sam tightly. "Thank God." He murmured. Dean looked over at Lily, who was watching them from the cot, a small smile on her face. "What?" Dean grinned. She jumped off the cot and wriggled in between them. "I love you boys." Dean rubbed Sam's hair, but he had to stand on his toes to do it. "You hungry Sammy? I think we all need some food." Dean suggested. Sam nodded, his mouth watering at the idea of eating. Dean shoved a hamburger in his mouth, a half a pie sitting in front of them. "So Lily, are you okay now?" He asked, his mouth full of half chewed food. Sam's brow furrowed and Lily dropped her fork. "Excuse me?" She mumbled, wiping her hands on a napkin. "You were catatonic the whole time Sam was missing. And you were coughing and sneezing blood for days. Are you okay?" "You were coughing and sneezing blood?" Sam questioned her. Why hadn't she told him that? She turned her gaze away from the both of them. She muttered that she was fine. "So, if Yellow Eyes-." Dean started. Lily scoffed obnoxiously loud. "Please, don't call him that. He has a name." She told them. Dean leaned across the table, staring at her with accusing eyes. "We don't know it. Do you?" She nodded slowly. His name held no power, she could say it. "Azazel. His name is Azazel." Dean sat back, like he was searching his mental encyclopedia for the name. He didn't know it and neither did Sam. "How do you know his name?" She debated telling them. It would ruin them. They would never trust again. They would question everything and everyone. They knew how to get rid of things like her. But they didn't know how to get rid of her. "I know a lot of things." She snapped bitterly. "I know more than you could ever hope to know Dean. And for the record, knowledge is not power. Knowledge gets you killed." With that, she stormed out of the diner. The Winchester's looked at each. "She might be on her period." Dean shrugged thoughtfully. Lily shoved past Bobby and into his house. She poured a tall glass of Scotch and sat down. Bobby had been sneaking glares at Dean. He knew something was up. Lily's phone beeped. She looked at the Caller ID and her stomach dropped. She tipped over the glass of Scotch racing to get out of the room. She answered reluctantly. "What could you possibly want from me?" She hissed. "I gave up everything. It's finished. The game is over. Leave me alone." There was a familiar demented chuckle from the other line. "I have a little birdie beside me who has told me the most interesting secret." Lily rolled her eyes. "I'm done playing this game with you." She repeated. "I have a soul that should be coming to me in around three hundred and sixty something days." Lily stopped breathing. "What are you talking about Fergus?" He chuckled again. "A Mr. Dean Winchester checked in with me a few days ago." Lily's grip on the phone crumbled the small device. She tossed the remains across the junkyard. She stormed into the house and dragged Dean into the junkyard. She shoved him against a junk car. "What the hell were you thinking Dean?" She yelled. "What are you talking about?" She shoved him again, more forcefully this time. "You made a deal." She whispered. All of her anger and aggression was gone. She slumped against the car, their shoulders touching. "Why did you do it?" He sighed deeply. How had Lily found out? It didn't matter, she knew. She might even tell Sam. He doubted that. "I've spent my entire life protecting him. Dad never had to tell me to do it, it was instinct. He's my brother. I love him more than anything. I'm protecting him. That's what the deal was for." She rolled her eyes at him. If Dean did anything right in his life, it was be a big brother to Sam. "And when you die? Who protects Sam then?" She asked. His eyes slid over to her. "I'm not stupid Lily. You guys get that stupid happily ever after ending." She doubted that. "Promise me something." She asked what she was promising. "Promise me you aren't a bad guy." She smiled sickly. "I promise." She lied. Once they got inside, Bobby took Dean to the junkyard. Lily looked at Sam with a small smile. "For a while, I didn't think you were going to make it." Sam looked over at her. Dean and Lily had told Sam that that douchebag named Jake had stabbed him in the back and ran off. The wound was bad, but Bobby stitched Sam up. "I wasn't allowed to see you. They wouldn't let me in the room. I thought...I thought you had died and...oh God." He moved across the room and hugged her. "I'm obviously not dead Lily. Look. Look at me." She did. "I will never leave you here alone. I swear." He was a liar. He would leave her. Everyone left her because she outlived them. Bobby and Dean entered the house. And they weren't alone. It was Ellen. Lily inhaled sharply. No one else saw it. The map of Wyoming had lines and x's all over it. They were connected. "A Devil's Trap. Samuel Colt built a giant Devil's Trap." She told them. She hadn't been told the full plan. They didn't trust her enough and they were right to. But she knew. She didn't know how, but she knew. "Colt built a Devil's Trap to keep something out and something inside. Whatever he was protecting, it's not good. And I know how Azazel was planning on getting in." "Jake." Sam whispered. Lily slammed her elbow on the back of Jake's neck. She kicked him in the back and rolled him over so he was looking up at him. "I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting. I'm Lily and you must be the man who tried to kill Sam." She held her boot on his chest, keeping him on the ground. Sam waved at Jake from behind Lily. Dean, Bobby and Ellen all held guns at him. "He was dead! I know he was!" Jake shouted. "You should finish the job next time." Sam told him. Jake struggled under Lily's shoe. "I cut through his spine!" Lily crouched down and put a knife to Jake's throat. "I will kill you. One good, clean slit right across your throat. And I will laugh as you try to breathe and live and choke on your own blood. Do not test me because I have a wrath that cannot be stopped." He looked away from her quickly, staring at Ellen. "Put your gun to your head.. Now." She did. Jake looked at Sam. "That Ava girl, she knew every trick in the book. She wasn't wrong when she said it wasn't hard to learn. I can do so much!" Sam's arm shook. "Let her go." Jake said for them to put down their guns. The boys did. He stared back at Lily. "Let go of me sweetheart. " He was trying to make her. "Your tricks don't work on me." He had a small amount of fear in his eyes. "He warned me about you. He said you would come." "What is he talking about?" Dean asked Lily. She lowered her eyes to the ground. "Azazael works with the man who killed my parents. It's not coincidence he picked you Sam. It's this big game he's playing." She explained. Naturally, she had to tweak the story. Her foot was heavy on Jake's chest. He took the opportunity and grabbed her foot, flipping her on the ground. "He told me you were a princess. And I said: every princess must fall." He turned away from her and to the crypt. He pushed the Colt into the crypt. "Don't." Lily told him. He smiled back at her. Dean and Bobby grabbed Ellen. Lily threw her knife. It hit Jake in the calf. He slumped against the doors of the crypt. Sam shot him, four times in the back. He stood over Jake's bleeding body. "Don't ever disrespect my girlfriend." He shot him three more times. Sam helped Lily up. She was staring at the crypt doors. "Go. Run and take cover." She pushed Sam away. "What's going on?" He asked her. She looked over at him, the wind blowing her hair away from her face. "The crypt. It's a hell gate. And it's opening." Sam ran to take cover, as did Dean, Bobby and Ellen. They took shelter from the oncoming storm behind tombstones. Lily stood in front of the crypt. The doors burst open and black demon smoke flew out. "Lily!" Sam collided into Lily. They fell to the ground, face to face. His breath was hot. "Sometimes, you're really stupid." He told her. She snorted. "So are you." She sat up, pushing him off her. Her eyes widened. Holding Dean, was a very familiar person. Azazel. "No!" She shouted. He tossed Dean aside; he hit his head on a tombstone. Lily stood up. "Sam, get Bobby and Ellen and close the gates. I'll handle Azazel." She strutted towards the demon. "You're ruining my plans Lillian." He told her. She shrugged. "You're ruining my life." She reminded him. Something odd happened. Lily's eyes flickered to the left and Azazel fell to his knees. "I think you forget who has the real power Azazel." She smiled. He stood up, grabbing her shoulder. He pulled her close, his lips at her ear. "Lillian, I will destroy you." Something knocked them down. Sam. Azazel stood and laughed. He pushed Sam to the ground. He smiled down at both of them. "I'm so proud of the two of you. Sam, you're a sport. And Lillian, you're a real team player. I might take you back home." Lily winced. Azazel went over to Dean and knelt beside him. He started talking in a hushed tone. Lily stood, a little woozy. Sam was beside her and he steadied her. She knew, then and there, that Azazel would tell them her deepest, darkest secret. She wasn't afraid anymore. If anything, she was anxious. She was tired of hiding it from Sam and Dean and Bobby. Azazel looked back at them. "Sammy, would you still love Lily if you knew what a monster she was?" She bit her lip, readying herself. "You see, I've known Lily for a very, very long time. We aren't friends, but we aren't enemies. I work for her parents." Sam glanced over at Lily, whose eyes were closed. "Her parents are dead." He told the yellow eyed demon. The demon's eyes shone in the darkness. "I'm not talking about Henry and Gretchen Fitzpatrick. They were simply foster parents. If she was going to infiltrate this place, she had to do it right." Lily opened her eyes. The green irises were turning darker. "Get it over with." She hissed at the demon. "Lily's birth parents have been rotting in Hell since the beginning of mankind. Her father was cast out of Heaven and her mother was exiled from the Garden of Eden." The trees shook. "Tell them!" She screamed. Thunder rattled the skies. Azazel gleamed at Lily. "Your girlfriend's a demon Sammy. Born right in Hell's finest room. Born from two of our favorite heads of house." Sam and Dean looked at Lily. Her green eyes were a dark black. Except, there were no whites in her eyes. Only black. "She's been taking care of you two for me. Kind of like a farmer, fattening up two prized pigs for the slaughterhouse." Lily had clenched her hands into fists at her sides. Lean, corded muscles flexed under the skin. "Lily?" Dean rasped out. She looked at him and he thought her demon eyes looked sad. They now knew the secret that had gotten her parents killed. Azazel was jerked back by something. Was that...John Winchester? The body fell to the ground and Lily saw John's ghost fumbling to hold demon smoke. The smoke wriggled away from him and into its body. Dean pointed the Colt at Azazel and shot him. The body shook and fell to the ground. He pointed the gun at Lily. "Shoot me. Please." He lowered the gun. "First, we're going to question you." Once they got to Bobby's house, (they had chained Lily up in the trunk of the Impala) they put Lily inside a Devil's Trap. If anyone looked more disappointed, it was Bobby. "I gave you holy water." He couldn't even look at her. "It doesn't work on me." She mumbled. Dean had the Colt aimed at her, ready to shoot. She hoped he did. "How long have you been in her body?" He growled. "Since it was born. I've never not been in this body. It's mine." She said. Sam snorted at her comment. She looked over at him. Had he been crying? Surely not. "It's not your body. It belonged to a girl! A girl who was supposed to grow up and have a family one day! You stole it!" Her entire body shook. They hated her now. There was no going back. "I never grew past the age of two in Hell. I was stuck at that age for eons. And then the Fitzpatrick's came along. I knew there was a prophecy about me. The Fitzpatrick's were supposed to be my foster parents. Gretchen became pregnant with a child, a girl. It was prophesied before even I was born. But the girl, she wasn't supposed to live. Her lungs never developed. When I was put into her body, I allowed her to live. I fixed her!" She screamed out. Dean and Sam looked at each other. "They were my parents, more than Lucifer and Lilith ever were. They raised me. They taught me how to walk and talk and ride a bike. They found out about me. And then they died." Sam didn't know who this girl was. She looked like Lily and sounded like her, but the black eyes were something else entirely. "You said they made a deal with a crossroads demon." He reminded her. She blinked back tears. Was she crying? Did demons cry? "They wanted a baby. So they summoned a crossroads demon and he gave them a baby. There's always a price to pay. Their price was having a demon as a child for eighteen years. The demon told them that they would only get eighteen years. On my eighteenth birthday, the demon came with his hellhound and killed my parents. You know the rest." Dean almost thought of lowering the Colt. She seemed almost harmless. "You were working with the yellow eyed demon. Why?" He questioned her. "Because I made a deal. And that was my price. I never expected to get attached to you, or anyone. They had expectations for me, goals I was supposed to achieve. And no one was supposed to die." She glanced at Sam. "Azazel told me that Sam was supposed to live and he lied. It breached my contract and I was free to fight on whatever side I chose." Dean asked about the blood she had been coughing up. "When Azazel thought I was backing out, trying to switch sides, he tried to persuade me. His ways aren't very...mundane." "The girl. Is she okay? If you leave her body, will she live?" Sam asked. Lily flinched. His tone was so hostile. "If I could leave, she would live. I would return back to the little cage they kept me in in Hell and never leave. But I can't." She shrugged. For twenty two years, she had accepted that she was in this body forever. "Why not? Why can't you leave? She doesn't deserve this." Sam asked her. She lifted her hair off her back and pulled down her shirt. In the form of a small tattoo, was a Devil's Trap. Except it wasn't a tattoo. "They could burn it off if it were a tattoo. They branded it into my skin." It was silent. She could tell that they were contemplating killing her. If they didn't, she might hurt someone. "You won't be doing anyone a favor if you kill me. In fact, you'll be killing people. I save people. I'm a hunter, just like the three of you." Sam scoffed. "You are not a hunter. You're a demon. And we should kill you." She didn't look at him. She paced around the Devil's Trap and stopped. "Kill me then. I really don't care anymore. I've been alive far too long." She looked at the black paint on the floor. "Besides, if I wanted out, all I had to do was scratch the paint away. But did I? No." No one spoke for a long time. "Every demon in Hell is in line to gank us. Why didn't you do it?" Dean asked. She shrugged. "I don't kill people Dean. I kill monsters. I don't find pleasure in killing humans. I love you guys. If someone put that gun to my head and said I had to kill you or die, I would die." Bobby left the room, enraged. Lily sighed heavily and sat on the floor. "I trusted you. We all trusted you. I loved you." Sam spat at her. She looked up at him, her eyes black. It startled him. She stood, no where near eye level with him, but he felt like she was just as tall as he was. Her eyes bore into her soul. His heart panged. "Then kill me for God's sake. You've got the gun and no one to stop you." She hissed at him. He flinched. "She's still Lily Sam. She's never not been Lily and we can't kill her. She's our friend." Sam stormed out of the house. Dean looked long and hard at Lily. "I'm not saying I trust you, because I don't. But I've known you for three years." She looked down. "I planned on telling you back in Burkitsville last year. But I couldn't. I'm sorry Dean." He told her to apologize to Sam. No one knew that the game was far from over.
