Chapter X : Legacy, Costumes and Teams.
Eri was already sleeping on the couch as her family sat a the table planning out the steps for bring her to UA for the next few days so she can have her evaluation and with any luck she'll be able to start going to school soon, as there was only so much Inko could teach her with confidence and without fear of stepping on the toes of any school that would accept an early semester transfer student with no prior schooling history.
"So are we settled on how you'll be taking care of Eri?"
"I think, I do mom. Once I see how the core classes work tomorrow and let my class know about Eri staying with us for a few days just so there is no surprises."
It was at the moment Ochako realized something important.
"Izuku!"
The two Midoriyas turned to her; she had been silent through most of the conversation.
"What? What is it?"
"What are we gonna do about that one boy ummm Tokoyami?"
"What do you mean?"
"Remember what Eri said who she had been with before us?"
Izuku's eyes widened.
'Oh crap...The bird people.'
"Is something wrong Izuku?" Inko asked at the sudden concern.
"There is this boy in our class, he seems a bit odd but he doesn't seem like a bad guy either. The only problem is his face or more accurately his whole head, he literally has a bird head with a beak and feathers."
Unknown to them that same boy was beginning to sneeze up a storm at that very minute.
"Confound to these damnable allergies AH-CHOO!"
"He might scare her, just by his appearance alone." Ochako said sadly.
"We could let Eri know about him before taking her to UA." Izuku suggested.
"Maybe a picture could help?" Inko said. "With permission of course. Something tells me that if this boy's appearance can be seen as fearsome as you make him out to be; he might already have experience with this. I'm pretty sure if you explain the situation and ask politely, I'm sure he will be understanding." Thinking of her experience with Gang Orca and his rather terrifying appearance.
"That's not a bad idea. I'll ask tomorrow and hopefully we shouldn't have too many issues just like when we take her outside." Izuku said hopefully.
Inko smiled, but her own thoughts turned to what Mitsuki as said to her earlier.
'No, I think it will be better if I talk about that to them after her evaluation, I don't want to stress them out now.'
"Okay, I think that about covers it. I'm going back to my apartment tonight, there are few things I do have take care of." Ochako said.
"Okay then, please be careful on your way back okay?" Inko said.
"Mom, I'm pretty sure she can take care of herself. You should see the flip she can pull on someone." Izuku laughed.
"First hand experience?" Inko said raising an eye brow.
"Training!"
"Thanks for the confidence Izuku. Anyway thanks for dinner Mrs. Midoriya." Ochako said getting up and politely bowing to Inko, before walking over to the couch and giving Eri a quick kiss on the cheek and whispering. "See you tomorrow after school Eri."
Izuku was already at the door for Ochako.
"See you tomorrow then?
"Yep! Good night and take of Eri for me!"
"Right!"
Closing the door. Izuku went to the sleeping child and gently picked her up, walking to his room, he placed her on her own little bed that was tucked in the corner of his room. It was a nice colorful little addition to his normally drab and barren room.
He was already pretty tired himself and decided to turn in early for the night, hoping tomorrow would be a more exciting day at UA.
Ochako sat in her bedroom talking with her parents. She finally told them truth about her recent "adoption" of Eri; thanks to the breakthrough in the investigation and getting the clearance to say it only to her parents with the promise that it would only be between them.
They in turn did raise a fair number of concerns about the issue, but since Ochako wasn't under any legal obligations and had All Might's backing which seemed to ease a number of concerns the two had about Eri.
That clearly didn't help the sudden amount of teasing Ochako got from her parents regarding Ochako's new life at UA and her apparent ascension into parenthood and the boy who came with the deal.
"Did ya finally get ov'r yer ol' knight hun?" Her father had said over phone. "Do I need to be worried bout this new boy in yer life?"
"Daddy please! It-it's abit complicated!"
"That wasn't a no~" he laughed before the phone was pulled away from him and her mother came on the line.
"Alright alright, hun ya had yer fun. Now, Ochako sweetie just take yer time and don't be rushin any quicker than ya hav' already! One grandchild is enough for us already! So make sure ya protect yerself if ya wind up doin anything more serious."
Both Ochako and her father in the background both did a spit take.
"Ma! I swear ya can be worse than daddy!"
"Hun don't be encourgin her!" She heard her father say.
"Hush! I'm not, just being realistic here! I mean ya remember back when we were in school and we..."
"NOPE MA, I AM NOT HEARING THIS TODAY!"Ochakosaid red faced. Thankful that Inko wasn't the same way with Izuku. She could hear her father fluster in the background, while her mother continued to laugh at the chaos she caused.
"Anyways Ochako, I'm glad that yer not alone out there. It was one thing I was so worried about sendin' ya ova there without us. And we're still so sorry that we couldn't come there to join ya."
"It's okay Ma...I do miss ya both, and I'd be lyin' if I said I didn't say the same when I first came here, but I feel like family here too ya know? I thought it would be hard fer a girl like me to make friends in the big city at the most famous hero school in da country. But they...they've made it so much easier fer me and I'm so thankful fer it."
Ochako smiled at the thought. It had been a real fear for her to attend UA alone and while she could call her family every night, it doesn't replace the loneliness of being in an apartment by yourself when you have been used to being with your loving family. Homesickness as it is often called, but her encounters with the Midoriyas seemed to have prevented that from ever developing.
"Glad to hear it hun, maybe we might be swinging by fer a visit soon!"
"That would be nice ma, anyway I'm off to bed. Good night ma, tell daddy good night for me too please"
"Alrighty hun, have good night and stay safe. Love ya Ochako."
"Love ya too ma."
With that Ochako hung up the phone, plugged it to charge and settled into bed.
The next morning at UA everyone was set for the day as Nemuri walked in to begin homeroom.
"Good Morning everyone" She said with a cheerful smile.
"Good Morning Miss Kayama." everyone sans Bakugou said.
"Excellent, we have quite a bit to go over today, including your first real heroics lesson with All Might."
The room burst with cheers at this news. It had been what everyone had been waiting for when they started at UA. Nemuri couldn't help but smile at her students enthusiasm, it had been the same for her when she had attended UA.
"Settle down, now the first thing we to need to go over is the ranking system."
Everyone seemed confused. They had never heard of a ranking system, expect maybe the sports festival.
"Ah, yes you see here at UA. Since we are trying to training to become true Pros, UA's environment is set to be more inline with how civilians will affect your careers. You can enter now!"
She called out to the classroom door, suddenly cracking out a riding crop and smacking the podium. The door slid open and four students entered the room. One with pink hair and yellowish green eyes with what appeared to be cross hairs, who seemed to begin waving at Shouto and Tenya as she spotted them; the former gave her a thumb's up and the latter seemed to get stiff and pale very quickly.
Another the only male in the group, reminded everyone of Mister Aizawa from yesterday, dead looking dark eyes and dark purple hair, following behind with another dead looking girl with short gray hair and blue eyes, she seemed to keep her elbows pressed against herself and her forearms in front while letting her hands dangle and the last one was familiar to Ochako as the girl she had helped out during the exam, while Rikido waved at the girl with a silly grin on his face as she waved back at him.
"These are the liaison students for the Hero Course." Nemuri said. With some of the student finally nodding in understanding, while a few others seemed confused. Among the confused was Denki who raised his hand.
"Yes Kaminari?"
"What are liaison students? I've never heard of anything like that."
"Ah, yes. I believe this is mostly because only UA and Shiketsu apply these mechanics to their curriculum. As you all know, you have no electives as by default your "elective" is heroics, which is a core class for this course. However this is not the case for: the Support,General or Business course classes. Therefore, Two students from every non-heroics course, are assigned as liaisons students. This means they can join us for certain events to serve special functions. Introduce yourselves please." Nemuri answered.
"Heya~ I'm Mei Hatsume! Support course prodigy! I'm here with my team to make sure your gear in in top shape on or off the field!" The pink haired girl said.
"Hitoshi Shinsou." said the boy with a bored look.
'Not much of an introduction.' Almost everyone thought.
"Reiko Yanagi." said the gray haired girl.
'Same thing!'
And finally the tan blond girl spoke up.
"The name's Jou Mori! Business course student and inspiring chef! I'm here to help with your branding and power you up with my food." She said with a grin.
"Thank you everyone. Now class these liaisons serve a functions based on their course, Support will help modify and update your gear, the general ed students serve as a bridge between you and the rest of the student body, as well as being first in line to replace Hero Course students should the need arise."
Almost everyone seated flinched at this, those two could replace them if needed.
"And Business will assist you in branding, marketing and in the case of Ms. Mori here has a rather fun feature to her quirk, anything she cooks tends to give consumers a real boost! She and Ms. Hastume are permanently assigned to Class 1-A, while Mr. Shinsou and Ms. Yanagi will being jumping between 1-A and 1-B from time to time. Together they will be instrumental in how your are graded by the rest of the student body and how you will be ranked, which can reflect your standing out in life once you actually go pro. Training sessions are recorded and shown to your fellow students and presented as if you were actual heroes on duty. Take these ranking seriously especially if you have plans to make into the big leagues and run your own agency someday. Pro-Heroes looking to scout look at these rankings with a lot of care and you are also competing with 1-B for the top five spots."
"Are we ranked right now?" asked Katsuki.
"Yes, some of you are already ranked based on the entrance exam. You Mr. Bakugou are ranked two overall among the first years at this moment, but it can change very quickly if you are not careful."
Kastuki clicked his tongue, if that was the case. It mean Izuku was currently ranked first. The grin that grew on his face as he remembered what Izuku had said to him months ago. He needed to pusher harder now.
"Okay that settles that for now. I'll be leaving for a few minutes to get a few things and to give you a chance for all of you to know each other better as teamwork and cooperation will be key for you all." And with that Nemuri walked out leaving the four with the rest of the class.
The two from general studies simply stood there, while Mei and Jou scrambled to a few students.
"Teni~ , Shou I knew I'd wind up here with you two!" She said with a massive grin on her face.
"Y-yesysysyss..yes...Hatsume...that is just..." Tenya couldn't finish speaking as all his internal fears where slowly resurfacing his face paler than ever.
While Shouto with the straightest face ever simply gave his partner-in-crime a high five. Getting a mix of looks of amusement and questions seeing this trio. While Jou first walked up to Ochako.
"Heya! Thanks a lot for the save, back at the exam!"
Ochako glad to see the person she saved was alright and responded with.
"It was no trouble, I just couldn't stand there and watch it happen ya know?"
"Oh Pani she's the one who helped you out?" Rikido said from a seat away.
'Pani?' a few thought.
"Together again Riki!" Jou chirped
"Ooooh, Riki eh?" piped up Mina from a few seats away. "There a story behind that?"
"She's my girlfriend and we've known each since were kids and she makes a great Panini." The class giant said with a massive grin on his red face much to Mina's delight.
While Jou answered with.
"Yep, and his family owns a great bakery that is next to my family's restaurant so meeting up often and going to the same middle school didn't hurt either. Though I guess sweets beat out meat this time around." she pouted a bit referring to their quirks.
While a trio of immature boys consisting of Denki, Ryu and Minoru seemed to be getting a laugh at the last line of her answer.
Izuku and a few others did try and break the ice with the two general ed students but they didn't seem that receptive to their attempts. When Nemuri returned is when Izuku asked about bring up Eri, to which Nemuri allowed him to make the announcement to the class.
Izuku stood up and got in front of the class only to get nervous will all eyes on him.
"Uh..."
The silence wasn't helping.
"You see...uhh"
It dawned on Ochako what Izuku was about to do and stood up as well and walked up next to him followed shortly by Katsuki who learned about the plan earlier this morning.
Having the two next to him did help relax his nerves and allowed him to regain his voice.
"So, over the summer, Ochako and I got into a rather strange situation and to make a long story short my family took in a young girl that we found in the streets." Knowing he needed to keep as vague as possible, thankfully no one seemed to be needlessly curious about the situation.
Ryu's eyebrows went up at this.
"And basically we've been able to take care of her and UA has agreed to assist with allowing her to take her quirk evaluation here as, it was recommended and approved by the principal due to the unknown nature of quirk and having Mr. Aizawa on standby to stop her in case anything goes wrong, but means she will be here attending school with me a just for a few days and all I simply ask is for your cooperation and understanding since she is very shy and easily scared, just until her evaluation is done please." Izuku finished before bowing instinctively.
A lot of students seemed confused by this, but thankfully Tenya spoke up on the matter.
"It makes sense to me, some doctors do this with children that have quirks that could be activated by accident easily, I know that it wouldn't be the first time that UA or another hero school has a member of staff with a suppression quirk, this to ease the concerns of the public."
It seemed to do the trick, as his words were absorbed by everyone else.
Toru suddenly spoke up.
"Is she cute?"
"She's adorable." Ochako exclaimed with a grin. "Bakugou and I already met her and she's really sweet, but we just need to be careful to try and not overwhelm her."
Bakugou said however knowing the two next to him were avoiding the bigger elephant in the room finally spoke up.
"There is something else, she tends to call these two." pointing his thumb at Izuku and Ochako as they both froze knowing what Kastuki was about to do. "Papa and mama."
A number of students and Nemuri went proceeded to exclaim.
"Awww"
While others looked at the two with a mixture of amusement or concern on their faces. None of which helped the two's faces burn red with embarrassment.
"How did that happen?" Ryu asked.
"I-i-i'm not really sure honest! I thought I was being a big brother to her until one day she started calling me that and we haven't been able to change that."
While Ochako red-faced nodded along with Izuku answer.
Katsuki however continued now that the class was leveled out.
"Long story short, she'll be here for a few days and then she'll be able to go to her own school when its done."
"What is your role in this Bakugou?" Momo asked, seeing how Izuku and Ochako were involved, but not seeing how Katsuki fell into the mix. He in turned responded with a grin.
"I'm the fun uncle."
The rest of the went of the day went by rather smoothly. As they sat eating lunch though it was only the second day, things did seem to settle with people finding their little friend groups already.
Ryu, Denki and Minoru were chatting up in a table in one of the corners.
While Hanta, Mashirao, and Ejirou seemed to have set themselves in a group.
The majority of the girls sans Ochako had a table to themselves. Rikido was actually with Jou helping out Lunch Rush to serve out students with the rest of the business course students who were there. Fumikage was nowhere to be seen, much to the disappointment of Izuku as he was trying to catch before school ended. However it was a surprise to the trio, was when they were joined by Tenya and Shouto.
"I hope you do not mind us joining you?" Tenya said as he and Shouto sat down. Katsuki simply grunted in response as he ate. While Izuku and Ochako welcomed the two with open arms.
"Of course, you're more than welcomed too." Izuku said cheerfully while Ochako nodded.
"Thank you." Tenya said before taking the first bite of his lunch.
The cafeteria was the prefect setting for the new classmates to get to know one another rather than in the confines of their classroom. It was always far easier to get to know someone while breaking bread and maybe soon enough taking down foes together.
Denki regaled Ryu and Mineta on some of the latest anime of the season, both adding their own input here and there.
"I'm telling you guys! The remake is actually pretty killer!" Denki exclaimed going over a recent remake of a popular ninja anime.
"Oh come on! The animation can be so shit compare some of the stuff in the common era!" Ryu said exhaustively
"Well depends on what your watching, since some things never change heheheh."Minoru laughed to himself as lewd memories ran though his head.
"But they improved the story and some of the other crap the held the original back!"
"But that was the charm of the old days!"
As the table with most of the girls chatted about their lives before coming to UA, Tsuyu showing off a few photos of her friends and family.
"Ooooh..Who's that hunk of a blond in that picture Tsu?" Mina asked. Seeing the picture of Tsuyu with a large blonde foreign looking boy with blue eyes and a large grin on his face as he stood between Tsuyu and a red-haired girl with a lizard face.
"Ribbit? Renchan*?" Tsuyu asked.
"Is that his name? He looks foreign to me."
"Oh that's my nickname for him. Ribbit, his actual name is Martin Allen* he's an American who used live on a US base not to far from my old middle school. He's a bit silly and kind of dumb but he means pretty well. His family was something else though ribbit." She giggled. "I used have a crush on him, ribbit, but he moved back to the US before I could ever really say anything."
"Aww." Mina said she had always been a massive sucker for a good romance.
"Maybe it was for the best though?" Kashiko said.
"Ribbit...what do you mean?"
"I mean we're still in school, so couldn't a relationship interfere with our studies?"
"It is possible." Momo stated as she calmly ate her food.
"Aww come on guys couldn't be that bad." Toru piped up.
"I am not saying it is bad or good. I guess it would really just depends on the couple. I mean we already have Sato in our class and seems to be working for him, but we're still growing and learning there can be time for the later."
"You just wait until you fall for someone. I mean look at those two." Mina said pointing at the other table. Every girl turning to where Ochako and Izuku sat. "That just a ship waiting to sail. And they basically already have a daughter come on! Place your bets now, because it's only a matter of time before they're official, I promise you."
When lunched ended, Izuku felt a hand fall on his shoulder, he turned to see Shouto who had remained pretty silent while Tenya had done most of the talking for them.
"Can I help you Todoroki?"
"Come with me for a moment, it will be quick."
Izuku stood there unsure but decided to follow him. Tenya, Ochako and Katsuki had gone ahead as their next class was heroics with All Might. They got into a corner away from everyone else.
"Okay, what you do you need?" Izuku asked calmly.
Shouto turned around before looking at him right in the eyes and said the words that made Izuku's heart suddenly drop with fear.
"I know who you are Midoriya and I know who your father is."
"W-ww-hat do you mean?"
"Draco Knight. Am I wrong?"
Izuku was doing everything he could to remain calm, but he could already feel almost like fainting, his breathing was getting rapid. His memories swirling of the how everything changed after his father's funeral, how most people treated him.
MONSTER!
FREAK!
DRAGON? MORE LIKE DEMON!
YOU SURE YOU SHOULD BE A HERO?
The laughs, the bullying, the physical attacks everything was coming back to himself all at once.
No...please. NO...
"Midoriya!"
"Huh?!"
"I am sorry, I should have worded this better." Shouto coughed as he realized his mistake seeing the color drain from Izuku's face."I know who you are and so does Tenya, and I want you to know that you have nothing to fear from the both of us."
Izuku was stunned so much so that he actually forgot to breathe for a moment, accidently making himself cough when he tried to speak.
"I need to work on how I speak to people..." Shouto frowned as Izuku was finally getting himself put back together. "I understand why you are hiding your linage and your quirk by the looks of it, and I do not blame you for doing so. I just want you to know that...you have friends in us. Friends who understand your situation, we were fans of your father after all."
It was a massive mix of emotions for the poor boy, from reliving all his fears to knowing that despite everything his father could still have fans which made him want to cry out with joy. He was still on edge, he didn't want to seem suspicious of Shouto's intentions hoping to see of the good in him, but he wanted to play it safe until he could be sure.
"I'm sorry about my reaction." was all he could say in the end. Shouto simply nodded and motioned to begin their return to class. Izuku stood there for one more moment. Hoping to calm his nerves. When realized something else important, how did Shouto and Tenya know? It would have to be something to ask later as he needed to get to class.
The Fafnir Knight
"I AM HERE, COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!" All Might exclaimed as the door slid open and him appearing in his sliver age costume to the roaring joy and applause to almost everyone in the room.
"I hope you are all ready for your first round of hero basic training! But first I got something, I think you've all been waiting for!" All Might said pulling a small remote out. Using the wall behind the classroom opened up with a number of suitcases marked from one to twenty.
"NO WAY!"
"IS THAT OUR SUITS?!"
All Might laughed.
"Correct boys and girls! Now get suited up and meet me at the control room of training ground gamma!"
Almost everyone scrambled to get their hero costumes as several of them had been waiting for this moment for years.
When Izuku collected his and headed to the locker room his thoughts turned to few weeks ago when he got the paperwork for the clothing allowance when Kyu took him alone on a special little trip.
"Kyu, where are we going?" Izuku asked as he sat in his cousin's car.
"To my agency, you are about to start UA and before you so there is some important you need to see."
Ryuko's agency used to along to Sir Nighteye before leaving the Hero scene to join the National Diet. She had leg up compared to many of her peers and fellow sidekicks of the Drake's Den. It was known as the Dragon's Nest. When they arrived Ryuko was quick to move Izuku inside hoping to avoid any media that would occasionally hide at key points in public spaces hoping for snapshots or hounding for questions. Thankfully nothing like that happened and they entered without issue. Izuku had visited before, but Ryuko guided him to the basement, where he hadn't ever been in before.
"Your father was more like an Uncle to me than a cousin Izuku. He helped me out in my career and I always wanted to pay him back. Which is why I'm here to finally give you this."
In the basement was like collection of Draco Knight merchandise, but Ryuko pointed toward a large wardrobe. Izuku looked at her first before walking forward amazed at the collection Ryuko had. As he stood before the large wooden piece, he slowly opened it and Izuku was completely floored.
It was a costume.
"It was supposed to be the costume of a squire." Ryuko said quietly.
'When you are ready for you UA, I'll deem you worthy of being named my squire.'
His fathers words echoed in his head. As he struggled to keep the tears coming from his eyes. All those years of training. The design had surprised him, it wasn't the classic armor of his father.
Instead it appeared upon closer inspection be more like a sleeveless vest in a dark green color. High density plastic bracers for his hands, arms, and shins in what appeared to a small breastplate. It all had holes in places where his spikes used to come out before taking in One for All.
"You can submit it to the school and it will be modified to fit you. It was your father who designed that prototype but personally added the next piece." Ryuko said with a sad smile.
Izuku saw it is wasn't like his father helm. It was cowl with a his father's emblem displayed on the back.
"I made a version without the emblem. I was always hoping maybe one day...you can make one of your own someday."
Izuku suddenly turned around and ran up to his cousin. Wrapping her in the biggest hug he could as the tears flowed out as no words could ever match everything he wanted to say to her at that moment. Ryuko in turn returned his hug; tears flowing down her face. She knew how much this would have meant to father and son. She wasn't Hisashi and couldn't always able to be there to guide her cousin through his darkest times, yet he still made it and was so proud of him for doing so.
As Izuku proudly wore his costume, he saw that the support team added a few extra features. The bracers now had an extra lining of metal to make metal knuckles, the breastplate included a neck guard, the sandals he submitted also contained a metal lining to protect his toes outside his shifted state, the cloth belt was remade to a sturdy leather belt with pouches for storage and finally a metal respirator that tried to replicate All Might's smile.
Everyone else looked amazing in their costumes. However wasn't ready for Ochako's skin tight black with pink outfit. Izuku was glad that his hood helped hide his fierce blush. Her equipment was something else though, she carried was appeared to be rounded riot shield on her back along with what appear to be collapsible baton. Izuku had already been on the receiving blows of her martial arts so he would hate to see what she could do with that. As Izuku looked around it seemed like everyone who didn't have some sort of direct offensive ability seemed to have some form of non-lethal weaponry.*
All Might stood in front of them in side of the control room.
"Excellent you all look so cool!" He said giving everyone a big thumbs up.
"Now we got a lot to go through today for the special operation! Heroes versus Villains!"
Behind All Might one of the screens, suddenly when blank before the face of student pop up.
"Hello views, this Kiyoko Mikami from the UA Journalism club reporting alive from UA Site Gamma!"
There was a collective gasp from the students. All Mighty grinned this was their briefing on the task at hand.
"There as been a report of two students from the general studies department being held hostage by a group of notorious villains! The Big five! But fear not! A group of heroes from the "A" Agency has been dispatched to deal with the villains. Currently we are on standby waiting to see the next move on what the heroes will do, stay tuned for more!"
And with that the broadcast cut off.
"Your mission my young heroes-in-training is to the save the hostages from these dastardly villains! However there some rules in place! As you know Mr. Aizawa assessed you on your first day here, but what you didn't know what that the assessment served another function!"
Everyone mumbled.
"You have been assigned into four teams of five!" He said with the display of the biggest screen behind revealing their teams.
Team One
Izuku Midoriya
Minoru Mineta
Tsuyu Asui
Fumikage Tokoyami
Tenya Iida
Team Two
Katsuki Bakugou
Ejirou Kirishima
Mina Ashido
Hanta Sero
Denki Kaminari
Team Three
Ochako Uraraka
Ryu Kasei
Kashiko Sekigai
Yuga Aoyama
Rikido Sato
Team Four
Momo Yaoyorozu
Kyouka Jirou
Tooru Hagakure
Mashirou Ojirou
Shouto Todoroki
"These teams will be in place until next semester, where things will be mixed depending the results of this semester. Now the while the public objective is clear, there is a hidden objective you must also be wary of. The Villains have a nuclear bomb hidden somewhere in the city."
"Why wasn't that announced in the broadcast?" Denki asked voice trembling.
"If it was trying to replicate real news it could be one or two things. A. They don't want to cause a panic or B. They don't know that it is part of the crime." Momo answered.
"Excellent reasoning Ms. Yaoyorozu, now, while this is a collaborate effort among the teams, you can see there are three objectives and four teams."
"Meaning one of the teams is set to fail." Tenya observed.
"I don't think so Iida." Izuku spoke up. "All Might what about these "villains" can one of the objectives be their capture?"
All Might laughed.
"Indeed young Midoriya! Capturing a villain will earn a victory credit, however it will only count with if the main objective is accomplished however, which is either saving all the hostages and securing the bomb or capturing all five villains which will collectively complete both objectives at once."
Everyone seemed relieved that there was a chance for all of the teams to pass.
"However only eight people can be deployed at once. And you must have an assigned "medic" and an "operator" at all times.
The Medic can pick up fallen teammates who have eliminated and do not count as deployed hero, however they cannot engage villains until they are relieved from that task, unless they are attacked while moving a fallen ally and the operator is the team taskmaster who sends out orders and serveries the battlefield, deploying reinforcements when needed. You will have ten minutes to decide and five minutes to prepare. Any additional rules can be found in this little booklet here. You time starts now." All Mighted finished patting a small book on the console.
As the students began to scramble to decide amongst themselves on how to proceed while All Might sent a signal letting the "villains" know that the operation was about to begin.
"Oho! I can't wait to see how these first years handle this operation!"
"Ugh...It's still seemed way too much for the first years to go though..."
"Ohhh! This going to be so much fun!"
"Togata, what are your orders?"
"I call decoy!"
The blond boy with beady blues eyes moved his hand to quiet down his team.
The big five stood by their own TV screen in a five story building.
"Tentacole, head to the roof tops and keep an eye on the heroes, stay near the bomb." Among the five was a tall boy with a six arms wearing a light blue body suit and a purple face mask and stiff gray hair nodded and left to go to his position.
"Blink, you'll get your wish and get to play decoy. Assess their battle strength. If the operator they choose is smart, he'll know how and why the teams are divided in to their specialties and send out the strike force and a few scouts."
The brown hair boy cheered and headed down to street level as he slid on his featureless bone white mask.
"Suneater you guard hostage one, Nejire-Chan you take hostage two and I'll be here with the bomb. Let the games begin." He said with a wide smile.
Author's notes
* Renchan. So in Japanese there really isn't a character for the letter L or sound for it. Often it replaced with an "R" Sound so
Martin Allen or Katakana Japanese would be written like this.
マーティン* アレン
Maatin * Aren.
And the nickname would be Lenchan or Now Renchan.
レンちゃん but レンチャン I believe would be used in this case however.
*Non-lethal weaponry, seriously, this should have been a standard for any student without an offensive based quirk or a quirk with a vicious recoil (Kaminari)
Since Momo often makes gear on the fly for her allies to use (including weapons) I simply decided to cut out the middle man and added this automatically for those who fit this mold.
Now, the liaison students. I have to admit a tiny of bit of this idea comes from my own book series that I am currently working on.
But given that if UA really wanted to prepare the students for the life of a Pro this system of cooperation between the courses makes more much sense at least to me.
I really wanted to explore and use every bit of UA as I can to make it feel more alive and involved.
The OC Jou Mori is partly based on a character from Etrian Odyssey Untold 2. Regina Dubois, who is a chef who's cooking boosts your party's stats depending on what recipes your brought her and ingredients you found. Even The OC's name is reference to her.
Regina is Latin for Queen.
and Dubios means, "Some one who lived in the wood(s)"
So I took the Japanese Kanji for Queen and one of its readings was "Jou".
I also took the one of the possible Kanji for forest or "Woods" and found one of readings was "Mori"
So Regina Dubios became Jou Mori. (Did I do this so other major OC's? Yes only Two other OC's got this treatment Ryu and the Class B OC we have yet to met.)
However I cannot reveal the Kanji for Ryu's or the other OC's name as that can kind of spoil part of their roles in the story.
The same was done to Himiko Toga in Japanese, to prevent the clues about her quirk until after the license exam arc.
Finally yes Mezo Shouji is older and is third year in this story and for those of you who have not seen the My Hero Academia OVA "Training of the dead" Is where the character Kashiko Sekigai comes from. (It's a really funny special) I found her character to be really funny and a perfect replacement for Shouji as a scout specialist.
I try to use as few OC's as possible. Preferring to reuse actual characters that exist (Because it's also easier) But some cases where unavoidable.
Anyway guys that is it for now.
I should be back with a big ass chapter XI some time after Christmas but before New Year's Day.
Happy holidays and again as always
With lots of love.
