Day 4
Sonic
Sonic and the group looked at the group and quickly moved to hide. Sonic put Amy down and they had to figure out a plan to get by the group. Tails frowned and climbed a tree over looking the camp, Kanbay frowned and thought a bit himself and knelt down using a stick to draw out a map.
"How do we get by them?" Amy pouted softly scared.
"We can try and go around but we need to be really quiet, or have a wide girth so they dont see or hear us." Sonic spoke quietly " we can always make a mad dash through, I know I can out run them and Tails can out fly them. But dog boy will be left in the dust."
"We are not leaving anyone behind!" Amy snapped at him.
"I can run through... this was not the group I was with. They can easily mistake me for a new recruit." Kanbay hummed softly "But if I am stopped, I will be stuck for a while. You guys go as fast as you can. I... I can stay behind. You have places you need to get to. I am just a willing body wanting to help."
"Kanbay you can't sacrifice yourself like that. Your a friend." Amy pouted. "We go around... it's safer and we can all go with out a fight."
Sonic sighed and nodded. Tails hopped down and smiled reassuringly to Sonic. Kanbay nodded and frowned slightly. His ear twitched and he moved closer putting his hand to his mouth and lowered down. A group of samurai walked near where they were and moved right by not seeing them. As quickly and as quietly as possible the four of them slowly crawled away going through bushes and shrubs. Tails kept scouting a head carefully and Sonic moved and called them to move to avoid detection.
They got about half way around the group when they had to stop from a patrol walking out in their direction with out deterring. Sonic looked to them and frowned as they were coming closer and closer. Sonic closed his eyes pulling out a small white ball waiting till the samurai were upon them before he threw it at the feet of the samurai. The ball exploded in to thick white powdery fog.
"Run!" Sonic called out " Kanbay I am trusting you, keep her safe. Tails lead the way to Mobi! Don't stop I will catch up later."
"Yes" Tails nodded and grabbed Amy's hand pulling her to run.
Kanbay nodded and took off after them he scooped Amy up going full sprint holding her. Sonic pulled his two kunai out and moved in to attack and keep his friends safe. Kanbay sprinted and didn't stop, while tails flew ahead. They moved till night fell and slowly came to a stop. Kanbay needed a break from running and Tails needed one from flying. The two panted and looked to each other.
"We need to rest so we can keep moving." Kanbay spoke up first.
"What about Sonic?" Amy cried out softly.
"He told us to run and get to Mobi. He will catch up." Tails spoke up quietly not really believing what he was saying himself.
Kanbay pointed to the side of the road and walked over to a small place for cover off the road and out of sight. He set Amy down and took a seat himelf. He relaxed and sighed heavily tired from running. Tails followed and all but laid down on his belly in the covered area he was tired and his tail fell limp across the ground. Amy frowned and looked down the road waiting for Sonic to come running up the road.
"I hope he catches up soon..." Amy whined softly.
"He will, I am sure he will." Tails looked over and smiled weakly" We got really far ahead. We are probably only two days away now. Maybe a little more."
"If we rest now, we can get up early, eat and move in the morning, the faster we can move the safer we will all be." Kanbay spoke softly. " We need to get to safety and soon."
Shadow
After another hour of fighting the rain finally came to a halt and the sun started to peek out and Aki finally gave in to leaving. Shadow took the lead of the group as they left the old squirrel behind. Knuckles and Cream took up the rear with Cream sitting on Knuckles shoulders playing with his hair and flower he scooped up for her as they walked. It was going to be a long days walk but quiet was going to a debatable topic.
The crew reached a town and stopped for supplies and lunch. They didn't need much but what they needed would going to last them this day and the next three. They stopped at a outdoor shop and ordered lunch and sat down relaxing while time permitted. Cream hummed happily as she ate her rice ball lunch happily skipping around the seating area. Knuckles watched her while Aki and Shadow sulked while eating their lunches.
Cream skipped and bumped in to the front of a Green toned hedgehog before she fell back on to the ground. She looked around and pouted as she had dropped her lunch and got hurt. She looked up to the hedgehog and felt her blood run cold. The green hedgehog grinned lifted his hand as it engulfed in flames. Shadow had shot up along with Knuckles as they saw Scourge. They moved closer only to halt seeing his hand fearing what he would do to Cream.
"Well look who we have here?" He grinned "An innocent child, with two useless ninja, and a dead princess."
Shadow growled snapping his hand down as a few quills appeared. Knuckles lowered himself punching his palm with his eye narrowed. Cream shook with fear as Scourge stood over her. She looked back to the other begging for help.
"Back away from the rabbit, Scourge." Knuckle growled deeply as he planned his moves out carefully.
"You will not live this time Scourge!" Shadow growled before he all but vanished as he flew across the way his fist contacting with Scourge's flame engulfed arm. "Knuckles grab those two and Run! Get them out of here now!
"Right!"Knuckles grabbed Aki around the waist and ran to cream scooping her up and ran away from the fight. " hold on tight!"
Knuckles punched the ground causing it to ripple and launch them up in to the sky on a massive pillar of earth. Once up he crouched low pulling them under him as he smiled to them reassuringly before grabbing the sides of the plate form he made and launched them using his special stone ninja abilities. He Launched them like a rocket in the direction of Mobi to get as far way from Scourge and Shadows fight.
"OH a shame they do not get to stay and watch." Scourge chuckled. "Because you are not going to make it back alive."
"We will see about that." Shadow growled loudly as he backed off slowly before going in for another attack.
Espio
Alicia woke after a while longer and the party of three started off to the small village in which Espio started his own journey. He was sure if they got there safely they could start flying and get to Mobi faster. They had to catch up to Sonic and Amy or at least get to the ninja village. Rouge was having fun making little glances at Espio with very suggestive looks to make him blush.
It was about mid day when the reached the shrine of the old fox woman. She was outside cleaning the walk way when she looked up and saw Espio, Rouge and Alicia. She smiled and rushed over to Espio hugging him tightly, grateful he was okay and alive. She looked to Rouge and Alicia smiling warmly.
"I am so grateful your back, Espio. Some of Robotnik's men came and set up in town." she frowned "They refuse to leave town and they are looking for anyone who is remotely suspicious."
"Are you OK?" Espio frowned as he was concerned. "Did you get any word of them getting Amy or Sonic?"
"I am well child, and nothing yet. No one as sent any letters or made any notices. I fear the worse, You must hurry to Mobi. If Robotnik's men are here it means they are spreading faster, and recruiting faster then before. We must protect the innocent from him. Many of the boys in his service are there out of fear of if they didn't join. You must battle cautiously and carefully as to not harm those who act out of fear. You must tell Lord Silver."
"Yes ma'am" Espio nodded and smiled" We will, but we need supplies for out trip. Do you have any to spar?"
"Yes, I will pack it up, you three rest. You best fly at night, over the trees. The moon will be at it' darkest tonight. If you can move quick and fly true, you can make a great distance and be but a day or so away from Mobi." The old fox spoke as she started to usher them in to the shrine out of sight.
"Come with us." Espio frowned as he cared for the old fox deeply, she was like his mother.
"I can't, you must go with them, if I leave I fear those men will bring harm on the village. Now go to your room and sleep. Rest well you will need to prepare at dusk to be in the air before the sun has no more light to share.
Espio nodded and brought Rouge and Alicia to his room. He got extra blankets and futons for them to sleep and rest on as they were going to have a very long night. He shut his door and laid a bar over it and laid on his own futon. Rouge took to another he brought and Alicia took the last. They laid and rested quietly. As they needed every bit of energy they could get to fly the most distance they could before needing to land.
"I never really carried anyone while flying." Alicia spoke softly.
"I have only ever carried small children." Rouge rolled to her side. "Your wings are much larger then mine you need room to flap. We will have to take turns holding him."
"But won't that slow us down?" Alicia frowned. "What about if we both carry him. Like we each hold his hand."
"You still need room to flap your wings" Espio spoke softly with his eyes closed. "Be easier for you two to fly and for me to run on the ground. I can go invisible remember. Chameleon."
"But you can't keep up that way." Rouge snorted. " We can think of something when we wake. I am too tired right now."
"OK when we wake up" Alicia yawned and stretched out as she closed her eyes drifting off.
"Rope..." Espio hummed before letting his mind settle and sleep take over
The room went quiet at the three drifted off the a midday sleep. They had a long way to go in a few short hours, and none of them knew how far they will get or how easy everything will end up eing.
