Chapter 10- Home at Last
15 minutes later Percious finally arrived at the Diamond City gate, only to find it closed and his mother's former employer Piper Wright shouting at Officer Sullivan through a speakerbox.
"What do you mean, you can't open the gate? Stop playing around I'm standing here in the open for crying out loud!" yelled Piper in frustration
"I'm sorry Miss Piper I've been told not to let you in, the mayor's mad, the whole city's going crazy about that article you wrote" replied Sullivan
"uggh" Piper screamed in frustration
She then turned to see Percious.
"Well look who it is Percious Winchester, it's been what five years? Listen just play along will you?" asked Piper
"What's? What's that?" she said in a loud voice towards the speakerbox
"You're a trader up from Bunker Hill? The one for all the parts to the Diamond City gate?" she cried
"Okay, okay, I'll open up" came Sullivan's voice from the speakerbox, he knew that it was probably all nonsense, but Sullivan opened the gate anyway.
As soon as Piper, Percious, Codsworth and Bobby the dog entered the main lobby area Mayor McDonough came charging down the steps.
"What?!" he yelled
"Piper who let you in? I told the men to keep that gate shut, I'll have that printer of yours broken down and scrapped for parts" he declared
"Oh, is that a statement Mr McDonough?" Piper snapped back
"TYRANT SYNTH MAYOR SHUTS DOWN THE PRESS" she said motioning her arms as to form a headline.
"For the last time Piper, I'm NOT a synth!" argued back McDonough
As Percious stood listening to this pathetic argument he began to get more and more frustrated, so he made his way up the stairs to the city itself.
"So, this is Diamond City?" asked Codsworth
"I expected it to be a bit cleaner" he continued
Then Piper caught up to them
"Hey Percious, so you've come home then. What brings you back?" asked Piper
The night Percious' parents vanished, after seeing Officer Sullivan, Percious paid a visit to Piper to see if she knew anything and apparently Percious' mother, Dawn, had not shown up to work that morning. It was then that Percious decided that he was leaving Diamond City and was not going to return without his parents.
"I need to talk to Nick its really important, I know my parents weren't his greatest fans, but I've found something bad." Said Percious
Percious' parents had been near the Diamond City Noodle Stand the night of the infamous Broken Mask Incident, when a man, whom people assumed was a man "malfunctioned". The man who introduced himself to the patrons at the Noodle Bar as Carter, started twitching and pulled out a gun and shot dead 3 to 4 Diamond City residents, reports of the exact number of dead are unclear due to the mass panic. The incident itself lead to the Commonwealth's discovery of The Institute's 3rd generation synths and general hatred of synths alike.
"So, this bad thing" enquired Piper
"Got anything to do with the Pip-Boy you are wearing?" She asked
"Maybe I dunno" Percious replied
"Listen come and see me after you have seen Nick, I gotta go and check on Nat" Piper said
"Okay" said Percious
Percious then made his way to Nick Valentine's Detective Agency, it was then he noticed on the detective agency's sign, a bright heart.
