Violet's POV
The moment Violet had pulled into her driveway she immediately stormed into the house and straight into the kitchen, already knowing that Shawn would still be there. On her way home the girl did nothing but crank loud music and scream at the top of her lungs in the car. She would call this her breaking point as she officially lost pretty much everyone she cared about. Everyone that she can turn to, all gone, within a blink of an eye. I guess you never really know what a friend is until it's all gone, she told herself, thinking of how Norman used to be.
It was hard for Violet to no longer be friends with Norman. The two have been side by side, surviving the film industry ever since she was eighteen years old. And their friendship had only continued, the two becoming much closer with one another as they both got the job for The Walking Dead, while sleeping together a few times when the girl was single.
Norman and Violet had been through so much together. Norman's car accident, Shawn's car accident, paparazzi rumors, pregnancy scares, substance abuse, messy breakups, family troubles, and the list continues. They've been through thick and thin together and now it would have to take time for the girl to get used to no longer having a friend standing beside her.
She had nobody but Shawn, and she was okay with it, she just has to get used to it.
Walking into the kitchen Violet had put her Norman problems to the side, not wanting Shawn to know anything about the whole incident. The way Shawn has been acting lately she didn't know if she could explain the whole 'Norman incident' without bringing Jeffrey's name into the mix. She could flat out explain to Shawn how she briefly saw somebody before he came back, but with his knew attitude, she didn't know if it would get his blood boiling. She didn't know if she could completely trust him again like how she used to.
"Hey, Sweetie," Violet said in a polite tone as she stood in the doorway, holding her hands together as her nerves had gotten the best of her. "Can we talk?" She begged Shawn. If he decided to not talk she hoped that he would at least listen.
Violet and Shawn have been together ever since they were babies, they're relationship was too strong to have one small fight break them apart. If they ever had problems they would get through them. They always would. It may take time as the healing process usually lasts long, but the two would always manage to make it out in the end with each other, making them stronger together. Everything they've gone through together made it seem like this silly fight wasn't a big deal as Violet made it out to be. Even in her eyes she thought she overreacted a little, as she was scared that her fear of losing him would happen again.
"I'm sorry...about earlier," Violet spoke softly as she took a seat on an empty space of the kitchen counter, standing mere inches away from Shawn. She shoved her hands in her pockets as she let out a sigh, feeling the tension in the air between the two. She turned her head and looked at Shawn who was leaning on a counter beside Violet, staring toward the counter. "I just want things the way they used to be. You know? Between me and you..." She said, scared that he'll get angry with what she had just said.
Shawn ran a hand through his hair and inhaled deeply, trying to keep his mind clear and honest as much as possible. "Things will never be the same, Vi. We can't go back to way things used to be but we can start over now," he continued as he walked toward the girl. "I would love to go back to the way things were, but you just have to accept the past and start over. Me and you again, start over, and be together forever."
Violet smiled at all the things Shawn had said to her and placed a kiss on his lips. He kissed her back and smiled. "You have to take a few things thats inside that bag now," Shawn informed her and she nodded her head while standing on her feet.
She walked to where the bag was and stretched her arms in the air, grabbing the brown bag that continued to be placed beside the coffee mugs. The bag had still felt the same size; a little heavy but not too much. She could guess what was inside, but as she carried it toward the table, the weight moving back and forth made it hard for her to make out what it was.
"Thank you," Violet said to Shawn with a polite smile as he pulled out a chair for her and tucked her in. She placed the bag on the table and began opening it with shaky hands. Nervous and scared as to what it was. Pulling out everything from the bag, now in front of her brown eyes the girl couldn't believe that Shawn had made her pick everything up. She couldn't believe that he had the nerve to bring it back inside the house.
"Shawn, I..." Violet began to speak but cut herself off, looking at a ball of cocaine, a bottle of Crown Royal, and a bottle of painkillers. She stared at all of the drugs with fear in her eyes as her heart began to race, hoping that Shawn wouldn't make her take these things.
The girl was finally starting to get her life together. She was clean from all the substance abuse after overdosing. She didn't feel as depressed as much as she used to, and she was scared to go back down that road again. A dark road that could lead her to another overdose but one that wouldn't put her in the hospital, one that could kill her.
Tears were starting to pierce in Violet's eyes as she turned her head to Shawn. She looked him in the eyes as blush was beginning to cover her cheeks. "Please..." Violet said to her lover. "Please don't make me do this," she begged.
"You have to," Shawn said to Violet with a deep tone of voice, letting the girl know that she wouldn't be moving from the chair she was sitting in until she takes one of everything from that bag.
The girl sighed as tears ran down her red cheeks. "Please!" She cried out, hoping that Shawn would see how sad and scared she was. "I was down a dark road when you left. It was scary, hard, and saddening. I used these drugs to keep me distracted, to keep my mind off things. To feel better..." Violet continued, hoping it would change Shawn's mind. "I almost died. But I didn't because I got clean. And I don't want to relapse, Shawn. I don't want to go back down that dark road again."
Shawn's face began to turn beet red. He huffed while running a hand through his hair. Violet looked at him as she continued to cry while tension was filling the dead silence between the two.
For a little moment it was nothing but tension in the room. No words, no movement, nothing. But the tension that was in the air had absorbed Shawn, causing the girl to jump from her seat as he spun his body around with his arm in the air, throwing everything around the house near that was near him. "God dammit, Violet!" He yelled and smacked the counter as hard as he could, the bang echoing off the walls. "Don't you see that if you don't take those things in front of you I'll have to leave and I won't be able to come back."
Shawn looked her dead in the face while finishing his sentence, not even blinking a single wink. The girl waited for a moment before speaking, hoping that all of this was a prank that Shawn had made up. Her heart was racing as she stared at Shawn, not knowing what he was capable of after his outburst that had shattered most of the dishes.
"Why will you have to go away if I don't take it?" She asked with a lump in her throat, tears continuing to swell her eyes.
Shawn walked toward her and gently placed his hands in her cheeks, causing the girl to flinch. She didn't know what to expect from the man she once loved after acting violently; she didn't know what he could do to her if his rage continued to consume him. "Violet, honey, I know that you went down that road before but this time it will be different. You won't struggle, you won't be depressed, I promise you because I'll be with you," he said and placed a kiss on her lips.
The kiss was full of emotions that the two adults needed to let off their chests. The kiss started out with sorrow and sadness but soon turned into passion and love. A kiss that used to be shared with every word and touch they once shared with each other. A kiss that Violet remembered and missed dearly. A kiss that Violet wished lasted longer.
"I love you, Violet," Shawn spoke softly and wiped the tears under her eyes.
"I love you too," she smiled.
I love you too, the girl thought. Love. A strong word that the girl always thought that should never be used unless if someone meant it. A word that meant a lot to Violet and a feeling that she always had a hard time trusting with every person on the planet except for Shawn. He was her rock. He was her knight and shinning armor. He was her everything. And she couldn't lose him, not again.
Without a single word Violet turned around and sat back in her seat. She opened the small plastic baggie and made a line of coke on the kitchen table. Placing the baggie back down her heart was beginning to pump faster and faster, afraid of the road she was now driving faster on. Remember, Violet. This is for Shawn, She told herself before sniffing the line of coke into her nostrils and up her nose.
Her heart rate had started to increase as she sat in the chair. Heat started to form all around her body as she felt a little sick to her stomach. She knew that she was going to pass out if she took more, but knew that if she didn't she could lose Shawn forever. Grabbing the bottle of pills she held it in her shaking hands. Twisting the lid off she took a painkiller and swallowed it down with a few mouthfuls of the Crown Royal.
Within a few minutes Violet jumped from the chair and pulled out everything from the cupboards, placing everything onto the kitchen table, all the counters and stove. She was so full of energy and she never had time to re-organize things until now.
"What are you doing?" Shawn asked with a raised brow and a little smirk across his lips, knowing that it was all the drugs that gave her this new energy.
When she went down this dark road before Violet never had all this energy. It was the depression that motivated her to work more, not the drugs. Taking drugs in the past before it only made her feel careless, it made her feel better about herself because it didn't feel like she was carrying the weight of the world with every breath that escaped from her mouth. However this was the coke that gave the girl this new energy, it was the coke that had gotten her heart pumping to the point she couldn't sit or sleep and keep still. Not until all of that energy burns out of her system.
"Re-organizing the kitchen. It was fine the first little bit that we've moved in here, but now it's gotten messy. I want it to be clean and shiny as if we just moved in again," Violet turned and smiled, causing Shawn to giggle a little.
"Well crazy lady, you can fix the kitchen and I'll go to bed," Shawn said and walked toward Violet, placing a peck on Violet's cheek before exiting the room.
A few hours have now passed after Shawn had fallen into a deep sleep. Violet was still in the kitchen, still cleaning the canteen as the substances were still absorbing every inch of her, taking control of her entire body.
Wiping down all the cupboards, she smiled as she finally finished. Everything looked as shiny and pretty as it used to look once they moved and now she just needed to put everything back neatly and then she was finished. She knew it was going to take her all night but she didn't mind.
She spun around to grab a stack of plates but soon stopped in her tracks, surprised at the lack of breath. She held onto the end of the counter and tried to keep herself steady while focusing on her breathing. She felt like she was no longer in her body as she began to shake while falling over, landing on the floor. Her mind was completely shut off as her vision was becoming darker and darker; it was the road that she was driving on, now hitting the first dark path that she needed to drive through. The path that she was so afraid of. However, Violet could no longer focus and drive past the darkness, it was as if she stomped on the gas and let every inch of the darkness consume her as she rested her eyes.
"Violet... Violet... Violet," A voice had called out to the young girl as she felt a tight grip on her arm, moving her whole limb move back and forth.
"Shawn?" The girl called out with a raspy voice.
Brightness was starting to cloud her vision as she slowly opened her eyes while feeling a sore throat and a dry mouth. She rolled her eyes and turned her head once she was fully aware of her surroundings. "What are you doing here? What time is it?" She asked Jeffrey as he raised a brow at her. She was a little annoyed that he walked in here on his own terms, especially for the fact that he knows that she was still upset with him. However, with all the drugs she had consumed it had taken all of her energy, making her too tired to care about Jeffrey being inside her home.
"Here, let me help you up." Jeffrey offered to Violet as he held out a hand for her to grab.
The girl looked at the man for a brief moment, realizing that she had fallen asleep on the kitchen floor. "Thanks," she said as she took his hand he pulled her up, helping her stand back on her feet.
"Here, take a seat. I'll make some breakfast and coffee for you," Jeffrey said while placing a hand on her back and walking toward one of the stools.
He knew that something must have happened her to last night, but he just didn't know what it was. He noticed that something was off about her since she was being friendly toward him and not kicking him out of the house.
Jeffrey watched Violet take a seat on the stool and rested her head on the counter. "You okay? You're pretty quiet over there." The man pointed out and began to pull out the eggs and bacon from the fridge. The girl didn't say a single word but let out a little groan in response. "What did you do last night?" He asked while cracking a few eggs.
"Not much. After that whole thing happened with Norman I've been here," She replied.
"Yeah, I did the same. I can't believe that still happened...that he would do that," Jeffrey cleared his throat and turned on the coffee maker before he continued. "I'm sorry, Violet. I had no clue that he was doing that. This whole time I thought I was getting to know you, and I feel guilty for all of this and I'm sorry."
Violet sighed and raised her head, looking up at Jeffrey. "Well, I don't know what he told you but I guess you never really asked anything about me in person because you thought you already did that online. Jeffrey, this isn't your fault. This was Norman's," Violet explained, not stopping for a single second. She cleared her throat but felt a sharp pain, thinking that she was beginning to lose her voice.
"Shawn..." Jeffrey spoke as he put on the bacon. "You said his name earlier... you thought that I was him?"
"I had a dream about him," Violet said to Jeffrey and gulped, hoping he would believe her lie. She gazed into his eyes and bit her cheeks while she forced herself to not blink. She needed him to believe her lie and she couldn't prove a single sign to him that she was lying.
Before Jeffrey could say anything to her reply Violet felt pain in her stomach, feeling her face turn pale while sweat was beginning to form on her body. She stood from the stool and ran as fast as she could to the closest bathroom, hoping that she could get there in time.
Her wish had came true. Violet ran into the bathroom and opened the toilet lid. Dropping to her knees she vomited instantly. While puking everything out of her system her nose had started to bleed, making the girl's heart skip a beat as she was paranoid that all of those drugs was the reason that caused her nose bleed.
As the girl continued to puke she felt a hand on her back, gently rubbing it back and forth. "It's going to be okay," Jeffrey said, comforting the girl while she continued to vomit.
"Stop," The girl said to Jeffrey once she had to the chance to stop puking. "I appreciate it and everything, but you shouldn't have to," She finishes, knowing that it was Shawn's job to comfort her during times like these.
Once the girl was done puking she stood from her knees and flushed the toilet. She rinsed her mouth with cold water and washed her face. "Check on the breakfast," Violet said and Jeffrey exited the bathroom. She turned the tap off and dried her face with one of the cloths that were stacked neatly on the rack near her. Violet looked into the mirror and noticed that her nose bleed has now stopped and her eyes were bloodshot red.
Before going back into the kitchen with Jeffrey she rushed into her bedroom, slamming the door open loud enough to wake up Shawn. "What the hell is wrong with you? I take everything you ask me to, and then you leave me to blackout on the floor! You just left, you didn't even help! And yet you said that this time it would be different because you were going to be right by my side!" Violet screamed at the top of her lungs.
"First off, good morning to you too," Shawn said as he leaned against his pillows. "Secondly, I didn't say I would be by your side all the time, I just said that I'll be here, there's a difference."
While the fighting was continuing to happen between Violet and Shawn, Jeffrey finished cooking breakfast and poured his and Violet's yelling. When he exited the kitchen he stopped in his tracks and remained in the living room, listening to all of the screaming that was coming from Violet. What's she doing in there? He wondered as he cocked a brow and made his way to her bedroom, following her voice.
"Violet?" Jeffrey called to the girl in a confused tone of voice as he saw Violet standing in her room, looking at her bed with her face in bright red. "What's going on?"
Violet turned around and saw Jeffrey stand in the middle of the doorway. Her mouth dropped as she squirmed in her tracks. "Uh..." Nothing else could escape from the girl's mouth as she couldn't think of anything to say about Shawn. Her heart had just dropped to the bottom of her stomach as she felt like a deer that just got caught in the headlights.
"You still haven't realized it yet, have you?" Shawn blurted out as he started to chuckle. Violet turned her head and looked at Shawn, wondering what he was talking about. "Violet, only you can see me, nobody else. I'm in your head. That's why if you don't take those drugs I'll go away forever. If you're romantically involved with Jeffrey again I'll have to go away," he spoke, surprising the girl. "Yeah, that's right. I know everything that has happened to you since I left because I've been watching you this whole time."
Violet turned to Jeffrey before doing anything else. "I'm sorry, but can I have a moment alone please? I'll be right out in a few minutes." Jeffrey nodded and walked down the hall.
Once Jeffrey was no longer in Violet's sight she closed the door and turned around, leaning her body as she fell to the floor. She brushed her hair back and buried her hands into her face, realizing that Shawn being in her head actually made sense. Ever since he came back he's been different, he wasn't the old Shawn that Violet used to know.
Tears started to form in the girl's eyes as she thought about it more. With Shawn being in her head it meant that he wasn't actually here with her. He was still gone, buried in the ground, and this was something else. It wasn't the real Shawn. It wasn't the same Shawn that she once met on set of her first movie. It wasn't the Shawn that she fell in love with and wasn't the Shawn that she was going to marry and have kids with. This was just a fragment. Something that looked like Shawn but wasn't him completely. And thinking of that made the girl's heart break into millions of pieces.
Tears were now streaming down Violet's face as sobs had escaped from her. Her face still buried in her hands the only thing she heard was Shawn's laughter. A laugh that wasn't Shawn's. A laugh that came from something evil. That came here to torture her.
"Please... make it stop," Violet said aloud, hoping that anyone could hear this. Hoping that anyone could take away all of her pain and misery that she felt like she couldn't get out of. Feeling like she's stuck in hell and it tortures her with every breath she takes. "Please," she begged once more as she heard Shawn's laugh play in her head over and over again.
