Chapter 10
Liz smiled at Red, finally she will get to know a little bit about the mysterious Raymond Reddington "So I can ask you anything and you promise to answer it."
Red smiled and squeezed her hand "If it's in the power to answer it about me...not about you sweetheart, then I will answer it."
Liz rolled her eyes and sighed so she couldn't ask anything about her past and his involvement in that "Fine, I kind of suspected that you wouldn't answer that one. Just give me a moment to think of some."
Red smirked and looked off into the sea and then smiled "Oh just in time," Liz turned and saw the waiter coming back with their food, "I took the liberty to order a verity plate for you since I don't know what you like in the sea department of food."
The waiter sat the food down and then turned to the liquor person and then they poured Red a scotch and for Lizzie that all too familiar drink that made Liz smile, she remembered that day it was the second day that Red had turned himself in and was then looking for the Freelancer. He had taken her out to The Montreal Restaurant, Red ordered her an Aviation Cocktail, and Red was doing it again today.
Red tilted his head to the side and smiled at her "You remember that day to, our first dinner together, you loved that Aviation Cocktail...so I ordered it for you again."
Liz blushed and slowly took a sip "You're right Red it does tastes like spring."
Red chuckled and took a sip of his scotch "I'm always right Lizzie," he turned to the waiter and said something in a foreign language that made the waiter leave.
Red slowly cut into his sea fish and smiled "Have you ever tired lobster or flounder, or any type of fish Lizzie?"
Liz nodded her head no "They don't serve fish where I used to live or in D.C. Red you know that."
Red threw his head back laughing and said "And that's why I fly all over to eat the best food the world has to offer," he then grabbed Lizzie's plate and cut into the fish and held it up to her, "Come now Lizzie take a couple bites, expand you food pallet."
Liz smiled and opened her mouth and bit into the fish that she didn't recognize, her eyes lit up "Red this is amazing."
Red smirked "Would I ever lead you astray...and please Lizzie would you start calling me by my full name, call me Raymond or Ray if you like to."
Liz cast her eyes down and blushes "Red..."
Red lifted her head with his fingers "Please sweetheart let's take this small step."
Liz smiled "OK...Raymond, now about these questions...let's start small, and tell me about your old life with you wife and daughter."
Red slowly took a sip of scotch and tilted his head back and gave a small smile "Whatever you want to talk about I will give you the answers."
Liz listened to him described his wife Naomi and his daughter Jennifer. Red talked about the vacations he took with them, how his wife was so proud of him for being a Naval Officer and was top of his class even being groomed for admiral, and how he loved his job. How he would do anything for his wife and daughter, his daughter was into Ballet Dancing and was in his favorite play of his the Swan Lake play. Lizzie smiled "Was she a great dancer?"
Red smiled and closed his eyes "Every time she had a recital I would be in the front role so she could see me...I still put on her last play each year...the place she takes lessons at I pay a lot of money for the same play...maybe this year you can go."
"I would enjoy that very much so."
Red then looks down "I regret being late that night...not being home on Christmas...if only I'd been more careful, my family was put in danger because of my other job and life."
Liz saw where this was leading and quickly grabbed his hand "Raymond...it was not your fault things happen, sometimes the worst of things...don't think about it...thank you for sharing this with me."
Red smiled at her and kissed the back of her wrist where her scar was "I wouldn't share it with anyone but you my lovely Elizabeth."
Liz blushed at that "So are we going to your safe house."
Red chuckled and put his fedora and his sun glasses back on and took her hand and pulled her close "It's our home...not my safe house."
Liz was going to protest but looking Red in his blue-green eyes, he looked happy about the progress between the both of them and just smiled "yes our home."
With that Dembe drove them home and Red let Lizzie get dressed for bed and when she lay down and closed her eyes he heard her mummer "Red...stay..."
Red smirked and dressed down to his underwear and crawled under the covers and pulled her close to him, she nuzzled against his chest and said "Ray...so comfy."
Red smiled and closed his eyes.
