Percy

She smiles and reaches out to fix my super crooked tie. "Jackson, I know your IQ is high enough to figure out how to tie your leash correctly."

"Oh so you're into that kinky stuff huh?" I say, raising an eyebrow at her.

"Are you kink shaming me Jackson?"

Thalia walks past me on her way out of the house and spanks me. "You're being a really bad boy, Percy Jackson."

I feel my eyebrows jump and my cheeks heating. I can hear Thalia cackling as she jumps into her car.

"Ready to go, daddy?" Annabeth teases, grabbing her clutch and locking her house behind her.

I hold my arm out for her to grab and the edges of her lips quirk up, softening the harsh look in her eyes.

"You really do look spectacular tonight."

Her smile widens, even though she absolutely tries to hide it by looking the other way.

"So are you kids going to stand around blushing at each other all night or do you have a dance to go to or something?" Thalia shouts back to us as she heads towards her car. I can feel myself going from lobster red to firetruck red.

"Should I grab you an ice pack before we leave? You're looking kind of flushed, babe."

"Well one of us has to have the ability to blush. You're too cold blooded for that, babe." I say, trying to hide the annoyance in my voice.

Her eyes narrow as I drop down on one knee and sweep the passenger side door of my car open.

"No need to start being an absolute dick, Jackson. The night is still too young for that, honey." Annabeth says sweetly.

"Just thought I would get a head start, since you've already started being an insufferable bitch, honey." I respond, a slight edge to my voice.

She slams the car door hard as I walk around the front of the car. I take a deep breath before sliding into the driver's side.

I start the car and turn the radio up, my knuckles white as I grip the steering wheel, trying to keep my anger in check. As I start making my way towards the school, I feel her hand pry one of mine off of the steering wheel, linking our fingers together.

Some of the tension leaves my body, and I feel my anger dissipate. I can almost remember why I asked her to homecoming in the first place.

I've always loved challenges, but I'm starting to realize she might be the toughest one yet.

.::.

Walking into the sadly decorated gym, I find myself wondering why I thought this would be a good first date. According to every high school movie ever, something bad is bound to happen before we leave. Then I look back at Annabeth in her dress and I remember why this is the perfect idea for a first date.

She smiles back and as much as she tries to hide how nervous she is, I can tell by how stiff her hand feels in mine, almost like she can't stand touching me in front of everyone.

Just to make her more uncomfortable, I sling my arm around her waist and steer her towards her regular group of friends.

Once she sees where I'm headed, she stops in her tracks and crosses her arms in front of her. "Maybe we should just go dance instead," she says, trying to play it off.

When I stop to stare at her, she takes initiative and drags me to the crowded dance floor. She pulls me to the most crowded area and drops my hand. She flashes me a fake smile and starts to back away a little, still keeping eye contact with me. I try to move forward and grab her hand, but she lifts them in the air, giving me a nervous smile that wasn't at all making me feel better about the way she was acting.

I feel a tap on my shoulder and turn. Grover pats my arm and gives me a corny smile. "Hey dude!"

"Hey!" I try to jerk my head towards Annabeth as the universal 'not now' signal, but I also forget that Grover is about as socially challenged as I am.

Grover looks confused for a moment before shooting straight into a conversation about the A.V. Club, which is about the last thing I want to be chatting about at homecoming.

By the time I'm finally able to get Grover to stop talking, Annabeth has disappeared. After five minutes of walking around like an absolute idiot, I find her laughing and dancing with another guy. He laughs with her as her hand curls around his neck and she puts her lips by his ear, saying something that as much as I hate to admit, I want to hear. At this exact moment her eyes meet mine and a smirk appears on her lips.

I know exactly what kind of reaction she's hoping to get from me. I can see it playing out in my mind, me storming across the gym and making a huge scene in front of everyone, but I'm not here to play her games. Instead, I turn away from her, and walk out of the gym, not bothering to see how she reacts.

I don't make it too far before I feel her tug on my arm. I try to shrug her off but pulls with more insistence. I can't help but turn around and get in her face. "What do you want from me?" I yell.

A/N: Hey so I know it has literally been two years but let's just jump right in. Sorry if there's any inconsistencies in the story line or our writing style, it's been a while. It was almost too painful to read our old chapters. We love you guys and we absolutely understand if you leave us some hate mail :)
