Somethin' Bad - Miranda Lambert with Carrie Underwood.
"Got a real good feeling something bad about to happen."
"So," Katherine said as she looked through a clothing rack, pushing the shirts apart. "Damon still not talking to you for sleeping with a guy over a hundred years ago?"
Sighing, Brooke nodded her head as she moved over to a pile of shirts that were folded neatly on a table. She didn't really know what store they were in, and she didn't care. All she knew was that the prices where way to high for a cheap looking sweater and the music was way to loud.
She also knew, that it probably wasn't the best idea to tell Katherine about what happened at dinner at the Mikaelsons, but she couldn't help it. She was so emotional when she left the mansion that night, that she ran straight to Katherine's motel room and told her everything, fuming as she retold the whole story and paced across the floor.
By the time Brooke was done pacing and talking, she turned to Katherine to see her watching her with a blank expression.
She could still picture it in her head, the way Katherine's eyes suddenly lit up and a smile formed on her lips as she let out a laugh, and genuine laugh. The kind that hurt your sides because you where laughing so hard.
All Brooke could do was stare back, her eyes wide and mouth opened, unable to believe that Katherine was really laughing at her right now.
Standing up off the bed, Katherine walked over to Brooke and looked at her the way a mother looked at their child when they were proud of them.
"Good job Brookie," was all she said before she walked off into the bathroom and, a few moments later, Brooke heard the shower start running.
Of course, this was a week or so ago now, and though Katherine still teased Brooke about the whole thing - mainly about the sleeping with Kol part - she dropped the subject, only asking Brooke now and then if Damon was still pissed.
And of course he was. He was pissed and angry with Brooke before the damn dinner party, and the information that came out in the middle of the desert didn't help the matter any.
He wouldn't even look at Brooke now, even if they were in the same room, let alone talk to her. Stefan - god love him - was trying to get the older siblings to talk, but nothing was working. Brooke was only going to talk to Damon if he apologized and Damon was only going to talk to Brooke if she apologized.
Other than that, Mystic Falls had been pretty silent for the past mouth or so, which from what Stefan told her, wasn't normal. But, it was true. No new vampires, no new threats to the town, nothing. Even the Elena situation between the two brothers had died down a bit, with Elena taking a 'break' - when Brooke heard this she couldn't help but laugh.
As if.
"Can we not talk about this again?" Brooke walked over to the rack Katherine was look through, hand on her hip.
"What? I just wanted to know." Katherine dismissed her, holding up a shirt before putting it back on the rank and turning to Brooke. "I'm done with this store. There's nothing here."
With that said, Katherine turned and walked out of the store.
Brooke sighed and shook her head as she left the loud store, stepping out into the chilly fall day. The sun was shinning in the sky, but it wasn't giving off much heat and the wind that lightly blow across them made it feel even colder - not that it bothered the two vampires anyways.
Really, if Brooke had it her way, she'd be back at Mystic Falls, not an hour way just to go shopping. But, Katherine kept bugging her to get out and do something. And, as much as Brooke hated to attempt it, she thought of Katherine as her friend, her only friend at the moment.
Plus, for some damn, unknown reason, Katherine didn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon.
Obviously, they couldn't risk going shopping in Mystic Falls, in case someone seen them together. Not that that was the problem, they would obviously think Katherine was Elena. The problem was if it got back to Elena that she was seen with Brooke, when it wasn't her. Her brothers and Mystic Falls gang was sure to find out about Katherine then. Not that they could keep it a secret for much longer anyways, but still. Damon already wanted to basically kill Brooke, she didn't want to give him a reason to finally do it by telling him Katherine had been hiding in her closet for months.
"So, where to now?" Brooke asked as the two girls walked down the street, bags in hand, walking past different little stores that had Halloween lights and stickers in the windows.
Katherine came to a stop, a group of kids running past them, on their way to find a last-minute Halloween costume for tomorrow night, Halloween night.
"In here," Katherine said before walking into the little clothing store.
Once inside, the two girls started looking through different racks and tables of clothes. Brooke knew they were soon going to have to call it a day. Even though she was a vampire, shopping could still become tiring, especially when you go for almost 4 hours straight.
"So," Katherine spoke up after a few moments of silence, both girls standing side-by-side, looking though the same rack of sweaters.
"So what?" Brooke asked, not looking up as she continued to look through the shirts.
"You never did tell me what it was like."
"What what was like?"
"Sleeping with Kol!"
Brooke's hands froze in the middle of pushing over a hanger, her breath getting caught in her throat as she looked up at Katherine to see if she was serious, which she unfortunately was.
"I'm sorry?" was the only thing Brooke could think to say as she moved to the other side of the rack.
"Oh come on!" Katherine stood facing Brooke from the opposite side of the rack. "You slept with Kol Mikaelson, an Original, and you have nothing to dish out?"
"No," Brooke shook her head, not looking at Katherine. "Not really."
"So, you're telling me that it was rememberable at all?" Katherine raised an eyebrow.
"Nope. Not really."
Katherine watched Brooke, studying her for a moment, before her face broke out into a giant smile. "It so was!"
"I'm not having this conversation with you." Brooke finally looked at Katherine before turning around and started going through the table of leggings behind her.
"Whatever you say, Brookie," Brooke could hear the smirk in Katherine's voice. "But fancy me this, was he as good as Klaus?"
This completely shocked Brooke, like before, but for a completely different reason.
Slowing turning around, Brooke say Katherine holding up a pair of leggings, staring at them with narrowed eyes before putting them back down.
"What the hell are you getting on with now?" Brooke asked.
"Well, you have slept with Klaus," Katherine stated before lifting her head up to face Brooke. "Right?"
"No!" Brooke all but shouted. "What the hell gave you that idea! I can hardly stand Klaus, let alone spend the night with him."
"You know Brooke," Katherine turned her full body towards her, hand on hip. "For being almost what, 150 years old, you are still a clueless teenager." All Brooke could do was roll her eyes before Katherine continued. "Now, I know more than anyone, Klaus has no heart. He doesn't know love or care for anyone but himself-"
"You're telling me this as if I don't already know it."
"But," Katherine glared at Brooke before continuing. "There's something, love, interest, I don't know what to call it, but there is something there that he feels for you. I know it. I can tell."
"How can you tell Katherine?" Brooke crossed her arms over her chest. "You haven't seen the man since you've been here."
"Okay then," Katherine smirked, copying Brooke and crossing her arms. "Tell me again what he was like when he found out you slept with his younger brother."
The image of Klaus' pain filed eyes flashed in her head. The look on his face, as if he'd been betrayed in the worse possibly way. That image stuck with Brooke, and when she wasn't auguring Damon or dealing with Katherine and Stefan, she would find herself thinking about those blue eyes, wondering why he looked at her as if he was stabbed in the back.
Of course, she didn't tell Katherine any of this. Instead, her eyebrows pushed together, glaring at Katherine as she continued to smirk at Brooke.
"And Brooke," Katherine continued going back to look at some shirts. "Besides your brothers, I've known you the longest. I can tell you feel the same why. The way you talk about him," Katherine laughed, shaking her head. "Anyone can see it."
"Your point?" Brooke snapped walking over to Katherine so she was now standing next to her, arms still crossed.
"My point Brooklyn," Katherine looked up at her. "Is that you and Klaus have the hots for each other. Deal with it."
"Deal with it," Brooke rolled her eyes, leaning back against one of the tables. "Yes, cause Damon would love that. 'Yeah, so you know how I slept with Kol? Well, now I'm going after Klaus. Please don't hate me.'."
"Not like he can say much anyways," Katherine said. "Like you pointed out when you yelled in his face, he slept with Rebekah, plus, both him and Stefan were with me-"
"Don't remind me," Brooke groaned.
"It's not like he has any right to judge your love life." Katherine gave her a pointed look before throwing the shirt she was looking at on the table. "I think it's time to call it a day."
"Agree." Brooke sighed up, following Katherine out of the store.
"You know, now that I think about it," Katherine spoke as the two girls started to make their way to the car. "You slept with Kol-"
"Katherine!" Brooke snapped, as she unlocked the doors, throwing her bags in the back seat. "Just drop the damn subject already."
"No, just hear me out." Katherine followed Brooke's lead before the two girls climbed in the car, shutting the doors. "You slept with Kol plus you have the hots for Klaus and your brothers were both with Rebekah." Katherine pointed out before turning to Brooke with a smirk. "Whats with your family and the Originals."
As Brooke started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, she rolled her eyes.
"If you ask me, you're the one wants something to do with the Originals," she said. "You keep bringing them up."
Katherine snorted. "As if. If anything, Klaus is the one who wants something from me."
"Yeah. Your head to hang over his fire place." Brook smirked at Katherine, causing her to roll her eyes.
They drove in silence for a few moments until Brooke pulled out onto the highway, when Katherine spoke up.
"You never denied it, you know."
Brooke couldn't help by sigh. "Denied what?"
"Having the hots for Klaus," Katherine said, looking over at Brooke with crossed arms and a smirk. "You never said it wasn't true."
Brooke head snapped over to Katherine as she gave her the best glare she could master, before she turned back to the road.
"I don't like Klaus."
"Yeah right," Katherine chuckled. "Don't say things that aren't true, Brookie."
The car ride back to Mystic Falls was surprisingly quiet, which Brooke was grateful for. She just spend six hours straight with Katherine Piece, something that wasn't an easy task. So, she gladly welcomed the quiet.
As Brooke drove closer and closer to the town line, music playing in the background of the car, she couldn't help but let her mind wonder.
Because she was so busy dealing with Katherine and her brothers this past week or so, she hadn't seen the Mikaelsons at all since she left the mansion. Something she was grateful for.
The week after the dinner, Brooke did run into Rebekah at school, and the blonde haired vampire did try to talk to her, but Brooke just walked away, telling Rebekah she needed time. Which - at the time - she did. She was still pissed at that point with Damon and Kol. Damon, for being the childish person he was, and Kol because he started it all.
She wasn't ashamed. She didn't care about the fact that she slept with Kol. If she spent her whole life worrying about who she'd slept with, Brooke would be living a pretty dull life.
But, the way he brought it up and when he brought it up, that's what made the thing worse. If her brothers found out she slept with Kol at any other time in life, it would have been fine. Hell, Damon would have, probably, even made a joke about the whole thing, saying something about how she slept with Kol, he slept with Rebekah and then teasing Stefan to go jump in bed with Finn or something.
But, because Damon was already pissed with Brooke and wasn't on very good terms with her, and because he found out in front all of the Originals, that made it worse than it actually was.
Still, Brooke was pissed at Kol and thankfully she hadn't had a run in with him. Yet.
The one thing she didn't understand was why. Why did Kol have to bring it up? Why did he want their families to know? Why did it matter? It was over a hundred years ago for God sake!
Then, there was Klaus.
Katherine started that train of thoughts. If she hadn't brought up that Klaus was different around her - and just her - Brooke probably wouldn't even have noticed. At least, that's what she told herself.
Really, deep down, Brooke knew. She knew Klaus was different around her. She knew there was something there, no matter how big or small - or how much she liked it or not - it was there.
And it scared the hell out of her.
But, it wasn't like she was actually going to act on… whatever was there. This was Klaus after all. He wasn't Nik. He wasn't her Nik.
Or was he?
The way he looked at her when he first seen her at the Ball over a month ago, the way he acted around her, the way his pain filled eyes watched her a week ago as if she personal took a stake and put it through his heart…
"Can we stop for food?"
Snapping out of her thoughts, Brooke looked over at Katherine, who was watching her with a bored look on her face.
"By food, do you mean food, or food?" Brooke raised an eyebrow at the doppelgänger before turning back to look at the road.
"Normally, I would be talking about food," Katherine replied with a smirk, that caused Brooke to roll her eyes. "But right now, I'm dying for some fries."
Brooke shrugged. "Sure. I'll drop you off at the motel then run out and get something-"
"No," Katherine groaned. "Can't we just go to that Grill place and eat?"
"You're such a kid, Katherine." Brooke said, driving pass the Welcome to Mystic Falls sign. "But no, we can't, Elena's friends work and hang out there, not to mention Elena herself and my brothers."
"But I don't wanna go back to that old motel." Katherine whined.
Brooke sighed, running a hand through her hair. She really wasn't in the mood to deal with a bitchy Katherine at the moment. "Fine. But, you are staying in the car while I get the food then we'll go somewhere and eat it."
"Okay, mom." Katherine rolled her eyes, but Brooke knew her. She knew she was happy she didn't have to go back to that motel yet.
After a few moments of driving in silence, Brooke pulled up to the Mystic Grill and turned off the car before turning to Katherine.
"Please, stay here." Brooke all but begging as she opened the car door. "And if anyone comes, hide."
"Brooke, Brooke, Brooke." Katherine shook her head, smirking. "Look who you're talking to."
Rolling her eyes, Brooke closed the car door before sighing, walking towards the doors of the Grill, mumbling to herself,
"That's what I'm scared of."
The sound of a bell let the whole Grill know that door was opening, not that anyone cared, no one even looked her way as Brooke walked over to the bar, getting ready to place her order.
Brooke didn't have to wait for long before Matt walked up to her, smile on his face. He looked so cute that Brooke couldn't help by smile back.
"Hey Brooke."
"Hi Matt," Brooke replied, the smile still on her face. "You seen Damon?"
"Not since this morning," Matt shook his head. "You're good."
"Good," Brooke gave a small laugh. "Anyways, I'd like to place any order of two burgers and two fries."
"Sure thing" Matt nodded, writing it done. This is one reason why she liked Matt. He didn't ask her questions. "It'll be ready in just a moment." He told her before turning to walk towards the kitchen to pass in her order.
"Thanks Matt!" Brooke smiled causing Matt to turn around and give her a nod and smile.
Sitting down in one of the many bars stools, Brooke waited for her food. She debated on ordering a drink, but thought better of it. She just wanted to get her food and leave again, before anyone realized she was hiding a 500-year-old doppelgänger in her car.
However, Brooke didn't have to wait alone for long, unfortunately.
"Fancy seeing you here,"
Hearing the voice, Brooke's head snapped to her left, glaring with so much hate at the dark haired man next to her.
"You are so lucky there are people around, Kol," Brooke said though clenched teeth.
"And why is that, lass?" He teased her. "Going to attack me, are you?"
Brooke didn't answer. She just continued to watch him with a hateful glare as he waved over the bartender.
"Come on, Brooke. Let me pay you a drink."
"No." She snapped as the bartender poured Kol a drink and he took a sip. "I'm never having a drink with you again."
"You don't mean that." Kol smirked at her.
"Yes. I do." Brooke snapped once more before turning away from Kol, praying Matt would show up soon with her food.
Kol didn't say anything after that, he just chuckled before going back to his drink. The whole time he was sat there next to her, Brooke wanted to ask him why. Ask him why he did it. But, instead, she refused to even look his way, scared that if she did, she would ask him. And, though she really wanted to know, Brooke wasn't about to give in and start having a chat with Kol.
She was still pissed.
"You can ask, lass." Kol spoke up after a few moments of silence, causing Brooke to look at him with raised eyebrows. "I know you want to ask, so just ask."
Brooke debated in her head for a few moments if she should actually ask him. If she should actually give in and ask him what the hell he was thinking or to ignore him all together.
"Why? Why didn't you do it?" She finally asked. "Why did you want them to know about us so bad."
Kol shrugged, turning to Brooke with a smirk. "Bragging rights."
"Oh come on, Kol!" Brooke rolled her eyes. "There had to be something else behind it. You invite me and my brothers over to your house to have dinner with your whole family just to brag? Really?" Seeing that Kol wasn't going to spoke up, Brooke continued. "Damon was already pissed at me before we went to your little party, now he won't even look at me-"
"Poor you." Kol mumbled, taking a sip of his drink.
Brooke studied Kol for a moment. The way his eyes narrowed together as soon as she mention Damon, the suddenly change in his attitude. The way he looked pissed at the world.
Brooke sighed, looking in front of her. She could see where this was going.
"Family troubles?" She asked quietly, glancing over at Kol who chuckled darkly.
"Guess you can say that."
Brooke didn't know if it was the way he looked down, sadly, at his drink or the haunted look that suddenly appeared in his eyes, but she suddenly felt sorry for Kol.
"Do you," Brooke cleared her throat. "Do you wanna-"
"No," Kol snapped, standing up. "No. You know what. Just, I'm sorry, for everything. Lets leave it at that."
Before Brooke could get another word in, Kol downed the rest of his drink and marched out of the bar.
She didn't know what just happened or what Kol was going through completely, but she felt like she had somewhat of an idea. However, before she even had the chance to blink, Matt walked over to her with a brown bag in his arms.
"Here you go," he smiled at her, but it quickly fell when he seen the look on her face. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Brooke gave him a small smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. How much?"
Once Brooke had the food paid for and said one more thank you to Matt, she quickly turned and walked out of the bar, suddenly feeling like she had over started her welcome.
The chilly air hit Brooke as she pushed the door opened and made her way towards the car. However, the moment Brooke reached the car, she knew something was wrong.
"Katherine?" Brooke whispered as she slowly walked closer to the car. Slowly reaching out for the handle, Brooke pulled the door opened, only to see an empty car before her.
"Damn it." Brooke growled, throwing the food on the drivers seat and slamming the door closed.
God only knows where she was now. Someone could have been walking by and seen her. Hell, Damon or Stefan probably found her sitting there or - God forbid - one of the Mikaelsons seen her. Maybe Kol found her after he left the bar.
"Brooke."
Spinning around, Brooke saw Katherine looking at her from the alleyway next to the Grill. She indicated from Brooke to walk over to her before disappearing down the alley.
Eyes narrowed, Brooke pulled her long, black jacket tighter around her, suddenly feeling like she should be wearing more than just a jacket, grey patterned leggings and black boots.
"Katherine." Brooke spoke in a low voice, scared someone around would hear her, as she stepped into the alley. "What the hell are you doing? I though I said-"
"Shh," Katherine held up a hand as she walked a few more steps into the dark alley.
Eyebrows pinched together, Brooke crossed her arms, looking around the alleyway to see what the hell Katherine was up to, but she seen nothing out of the ordinary.
"Katherine," Brooke spoke louder this time. "What is going on?"
"I heard something," Katherine told her, not turning around as she looked around the alley.
"You heard something?" Brooke raised an eyebrow. "Katherine. You are in Mystic Falls. It could have been anything from a stray cat to a vampire."
"No," Katherine shook her head, spinning around so she was now facing Brooke, her long brown curls flying around her. "I have a bad feeling about this. It wasn't a stray cat or ordinary vamp."
"And how do you know?"
Katherine opened her mouth to spoke, but the voice that was heard echoing off the alley walls wasn't hers.
"Brooklyn Salvatore."
Eyes snapping past Katherine - who stepped backwards so she was now standing next to Brooke - she say three figures stepping out of the darkest. Two females, one male. They slowly stepped towards her and Katherine, and Brooke knew right away what they were.
"Because thats what I heard," Katherine said, eyes narrowing in on the three witches before them.
"Brooklyn Salvatore," the blonde haired girl in the middle of the little group spoke up, a smirk on her face. "We've been looking for you."
"And can I ask why?" Brooke narrowed her eyes, her mind working overtime trying to think of a time when she'd done wrong with a group of witches, but she was coming up blank.
All the witches did was laugh, as if the reason they were here was the most obvious thing in the world.
"What are you doing here?" Katherine asked, her eyes still narrowed.
"Or don't worry," The male spoke up. "We aren't here for you, Katerina."
"Now see, if I liked you before, which I never, I definitely don't like you now."
"Enough talking!" The black-hair women spoke up, turning to the blonde. "Let's just get this over with so we can leave again."
The blonde sighed, holding up her hand. "Fine."
Before Brooke or Katherine could do anything, they both fell to the ground, crying out in pain as Brooke's hands flew to her head, clenching it tightly, praying for the pain to go away. The last thing she saw was the three witches making their way slowly towards her, before she closed her eyes shut, tightly.
Then suddenly, the pain was over.
Confused and gratefully, Brooke slowly removed her hands of her hair and opened her eyes only to see the three witches on the ground, groaning in pain.
As she stood up, Brooke looked over at Katherine - who was also standing up. They both shared a confused looked before a voice came from behind them.
"Are you girls okay?"
Spinning around, Brooke couldn't stop her eyes from going wide as she came face to face with none other than the Original Witch.
Ester looked between both Brooke and Katherine, looking them over as if to see if they were okay, before she spoke up again.
"You two should better get out of here," she told them, stepping forward. "I shall deal with the witches."
"Y-you!" A voice called out behind them, causing all three women to turning around, only to see the witches standing up, the blonde hair glaring daggers at them.
"You… The Original Witch!" she said to Ester before pointing a finger at Brooke. "Do you know what will happen to her!"
"I do." Ester nodded calming, stepping pass Brooke and Katherine as the two girls shared another confused look. "And I have everything here under control. Thank-you."
"Why did you attack us?" The black-haired witch spoke up. "You should have just let us finish the job."
"There is no job here that needs to be finished." Ester said. "Now, as I said before, I have everything here under control. I suggest you three leave. Now."
The three witches looked as if they wanted to fight back and say something, but thought better of it. This was the Original Witch after all. The weren't dumb enough to pick a fight with her.
With one final glare of hate at Brooke from all three witches, they took off, disappearing from the alleyway.
"They're gone for now," Ester turned around, facing Brooke and Katherine. "But they will be back. And with more of them next time."
"How did you know we were here?" Katherine asked, arms crossed, standing on edge for being so close to a member of the Original family.
"I have my ways," Ester answered with a smile before turning serious once more. "Now, I suggest you two should head back home as well. Especially you, Katerina, before someone sees you."
Katherine looked like she was about to speak up, but Brooke cut her off.
"She's right Katherine," she turned to face the doppelgänger. "I'll see you later?"
Katherine watched Brooke for a moment with narrowed eyes before nodding her head.
"Yeah," With one final glance at Ester, Katherine flashed out of the alleyway, leaving Brooke and Ester there, alone.
"Well, umm," Brooke ran a head through her hair, looking up at Ester. "Thank-you." She said before turning around and walking out of the alleyway.
"Brooklyn," Ester called after her, causing Brooke to stop on the sidewalk and turn around. "Are you sure you are feeling alright?"
Confused, Brooke nodded her head. "Yeah, I feel fine."
"Alright then," Ester gave her a smile. "Well, I'm sure I'll be seeing you around. And be careful."
All Brooke could do was nodded as Ester turned and started to walk down the sidewalk, before Brooke stepped forward and stopped her.
"What did they want?" She asked, causing Ester to turn around. "Why are they after me?"
Ester just gave her a small smile. "You'll find out Brooklyn, in due time."
With that said, Ester turned back around and walked down the sidewalk, leaving a confused Brooklyn standing there, wondering what the hell was going on.
Brooke rubbed her head as she also turned and started towards her car. Today was becoming too much.
"Brooke!"
What now… Brooke groaned quietly before turning around and seeing Caroline running up to her.
"Hi Caroline," She rubbed a tired hand over her face as Caroline come to a stop in front of her, a confused look on her face.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Brooke gave to baby vampire a small smile. "What's up?"
"Well, I was just on my way to give Matt his... I know Stefan well probably mention this to you anyways, but," Caroline reached into her bag and pulled out a piece of paper, handing it to Brooke. "Here."
Taking the paper from Caroline, Brooke looked down at it confused, only to see her name written on an envelope.
"What's this?" She asked, looking back up at Caroline.
"An invite to Stefan's birthday party," Caroline told her with a smile. "Not that you need one cause you're family, but still!"
Stefan's birthday? Guess that slipped my mind. Brooke thought as she looked up at Caroline with a smile.
"Thanks Caroline," she said before she turned and started towards the car again.
"Hey," Caroline stopped her, causing Brooke to spin around. "You sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, Caroline," Brooke told her. "I just got to get going."
Brooke could tell by the look on Caroline's face the she was still unsure, but she nodded anyways before saying goodbye to Brooke and turned around, walking into the Grill.
Brooke sighed once more before turning back around and walking towards the car.
She couldn't wait to get home and take a long, hot bath. This day was starting to get to her and she suddenly felt like all her energy was sucked out of her.
Reaching down next to it, Brooke picked up the keys that she dropped in her hurry and went to open to the car door, when another voice stopped.
"Brooklyn."
"Oh my god," Brooke groaned, turning to Klaus, who was walking towards her. "Seriously? When I run into one Original, I end up running into all of them!"
Klaus looked at her with a confused look as he came to a stop in front of her, before he chuckled, a smirk forming on his lips. "Rough day, love?"
"What do you want, Klaus?" Brooke spoke in a hard tone. "If you're here to judge me, or attack me, then go ahead. Lets get this over with."
"I'm not here to attack or judge you," Klaus said, his voice and face turning serious. "Why would you think that?"
"Because that's what you looked like you wanted to do at that stupid dinner party," Brooke pointed out, crossing her arms. "You looked like you were about to break my neck."
"Trust me love, it wasn't your neck I wanted to break."
"What does that even mean?" Brooke couldn't help but laugh, this day was too much. "Seriously Klaus, what are you up to?"
Klaus raised an eyebrow at her. "Can I not be nice?"
"No," Brooke stopped laughing, shaking her head. "No, you can't."
"And why not?" Klaus narrowed his eyes, arms crossed.
"Because you're you!" Brooke exclaimed. "Look at everything you've done! Look at all the people you've killed and hurt, including my family, my brothers. Look at-"
"Look at everything Rebekah's done." Klaus cut her off. "Look at everything Elijah's done. And yet, you seem very friendly with them."
Brooke shook her head. "That's-"
"Different?" Klaus arched his eyebrow. "I don't see how. They've both killed their fair share of people. We all have. And what was it you told Rebekah? Oh right, that she never done anything personally to hurt you. That's why you talk to her, right?"
Brooke didn't comment, she just continued to watch Klaus with slightly narrowed eyes.
"Well, I haven't done anything personally to hurt you either, Brooklyn," Klaus pointed out. "I've done nothing but be nice to you. But you keep pushing me away." Klaus stepped closer to Brooke, looking down at her. "Why is that?"
Broke didn't speak. She didn't know what to say, she didn't have the answer to his question. And Klaus knew it.
However, after a few moments of silence and staring at each other, Klaus stepped back slightly.
"Don't have an answer?" Klaus smirked, obviously thinking he won this little argument.
"You're not Nik," Brooke spoke up, causing Klaus to freeze, the smirk dropping fro his face. "You're not Nik. You're not the same person I met all those years ago. You lied to me."
"I didn't lie to you, love." Klaus narrowed his eyes. "I didn't lie to you once that whole night." Klaus took a small step forward. "But you're right. I'm not Nik. I'm different. I've changed. But so have you, love. You aren't the same little human girl I met that night, but I'm not pushing you away."
"Your point?" Brooke asked, knowing she lost the argument.
"My point, love." Klaus laughed. "Is that you're comparing me to one night years ago. If I was doing the same, trust me," Klaus smirked at her. "You'd be died by now." He glanced down at the piece of paper in Brooke's hand before looking back up. "I guess I'll be seeing you at the party."
Brooke raised an eyebrow, trying to hide the fact that all her emotions where going haywire at the moment. "You're going?"
Klaus just smirked at her. "I'll let you go now, you seem like you've had a long day," Klaus gave you one finally smile, the one that showed his dimples, the one Brooke started calling the Nik smile, and she couldn't help but feel her heart start to race. "Until the party, Brooklyn."
