My eyes followed each Tauros as it trampled Ben. I stood up, feeling tears begin to fall from my eyes. I can't move.. Ben, please. The herd of Tauros stood in group across from me, staring angrily. I kept my eyes trained on Ben's lifeless, unmoving body. Waiting for a twitch, or a stir. Waiting for any type of movement to indicate that he is still alive.
The Tauros stomped their hooves in the mud, creating an uproar. I looked over at them, feeling lifeless, letting the rain soak m body. It's my fault. A chipped horn. The ring leader is the Tauros that hates me. Team Explosion has something to do with this. I won't stand for it any longer. They are the real reason why the only person I truly care about anymore is hurt. This has gone too far.
They began to charge. I stood there, frozen in the ground, unable to move. Out of fury? Fear? Most likely the last option. I felt the familiar tug on my shirt before I was flung into the air, landing on Ponyta's back. I breathed a sigh of relief. "You've got great timing Ponyta!" I praised. He ran past the Tauros, turning to face them. The main Tauros turned in fury, charging at us again. "Ponyta, lead them away from Ben!" I called over the deafening thump of hooves. He raced across the field, Tauros following blindly. Out of the blue, Torchic hopped onto Ponyta's back. I shrugged m shoulders. The more the merrier. Something has to be done. "Keep it steady, I'm about to do something stupid." I directed. Shakily, I stood up on Ponyta's back, trying to keep my balance. "Up for a workout, Torchic?" I held my wrist out, aiming at a small group of the Tauros. "Capture on!" The styler began to spin in loops around the group. One of the Tauros charged faster, breaking the loop. "Ponyta! To the left!" I instructed, nearly falling from his back as he moved to the left, dodging a take down attack.
I continued to spin the styler around until I finally befriended the small group. I pointed my hand towards the woods, directing the Tauros to leave, which they did. This continued, me befriending small groups, with Torchic's help, until there was only one Tauros left. The one who I had nearly captured before. I held my wrist out, aimed at him. "Capture-" There was a sudden searing pain in my wrist. I cried out as a Pidgeot swooped down, tearing my styler right from my wrist, leaving a giant cut. It turned in the air, flying straight for Ponyta. The Pidgeot rammed Ponyta in the side. I was hurled off him, tumbling to the ground. Ponyta collapsed, exhausted and defeated. I got up weakly, glaring at the Pidgeot flying away. My eyes wandered to Ben's still crumpled form. The Tauros also looked to him, digging his hoof in the ground.
My eyes widened. Please, no. I got to my feet, sprinting to Ben. Tauros charged Ben. I hurled myself infront of Ben, standing in front of him, my arms spread, blocking him. "Stop!" I opened my eyes, breathing heavily. Tauros was right in my face, looking at me intently. "Please, not him." I whispered, reaching my heart out to the Pokemon. My eyes bore into his, trying to create a level of understanding. Tauros snorted loudly, turning abruptly, and walked back towards the woods. My heart raced. I breathed out, falling to my knees, trying to hold back tears. Torchic ran to me, nuzzling my thigh. "Ben?" I whispered, turning to him.
He lay face down, his shirt in shambles. Is he breathing? I flipped him, resting his head on my lap. My shaky hands cradled his cheeks, stained from blood. A cut on his lip and eyebrow oozed blood, which I wiped away with my white tank top. Torchic pecked his leg, trying to get a response. A single tear began to streak down my rubbled cheek. "Ben?" I asked, my voice hoarse. "Please.." He didn't stir. I shook his shoulders, feeling fear creep into me. What if he is dead? I can't find a heartbeat. It's all my fault! "Torchic, go ahead to the school, bring back someone to help. Hurry." I instructed, wrapping Ben's arm around the back of my neck. Torchic took off, running towards the school. My hand made it's way to Ben's waist, latching onto his shorts. Okay, I can do this. I lifted Ben up, trying to keep his lifeless body from falling. I began to walk towards the school, half carrying and half dragging Ben by my side. "You listen here now, I'm going to get you back to the school. The nurse is going to help you and you are going to get better. No exceptions. You are the only family I have left. I can't lose you, Ben. Please, don't leave me. Think about your mom and dad. About Ariel. Kate, Keith, all of your friends here. They all need you Ben. I need you. More than anything. So don't you dare leave me like this, got it?" I whispered, breathing heavily. A few tears leaked from my eyes.
I continued to pull him, the school getting closer. "Hey!" I heard voices call. Kate and Keith ran down the hill, followed by two others I have never seen before and Torchic. "Ohh no. Ben!" Kate cried. They finally got to us.
"Take him." I gasped. Keith and the guy with sleek black hair took Ben's arms and wrapped them around their necks. I put my hands on my knees, trying to regain my breath. "T-take him to the nurse." I breathed. "Come one, Torchic. We have to do something." She hopped onto my shoulder, ready to go.
Kate grabbed my arm. "Where are you going? What happened?" I yanked my arm from her grasp. "What about Ben?!" She yelled.
"You don't understand. Kate, just trust me." She looked uneasy but nodded. I turned and ran back towards the trees where the Tauros came from. Please, Ben. Be okay. I'm going to put a stop to this.
"Felix!" I shouted angrily. Starly flew from their trees, fleeing to the dark sky. Rain continued to patter to the ground in a steady rhythm. "Felix, get over here now!" I shouted louder. Footsteps approached me. Felix emerged from the darkness, leaning on a tree branch. He wore a stupid smirk on his face, his hat casting a shadow over his eyes. "Wanna explain the stampede? The Pidgeot?" I asked annoyed. He shook his head nonchalantly. "Well you better start explaining. You nearly killed me!" I yelled, walking to him and grabbing his shirt collar.
He grinned. "Sorry baby sis, I wasn't trying to kill you. Only that prick you were with. I had my orders."
They tried to kill Ben. I don't even know if he is still alive. They might have succeeded. No, don't you dare think like Summer. He is alive. "You're wasting your time. I hardly even know that guy." I growled, shoving him to the tree. "Leave me alone. Stay out of my new life. Those are your orders." I turned to walk away.
"Summer, you know I can't do that." He got in front of me. "I can't go back there without you. I'm going to be in trouble if I do. Help me out. At least talk to Dad. He wants to see you."
"You mean use me? I can't even look that monster in the eye without wanting to kill him. And I can't promise I won't." Torchic growled next to me, glaring at Felix.
He sighed. "Summer, if you go, I will leave you alone. You won't have to deal with Team Explosion any longer. I promise." Felix reasoned.
Is that exactly a good choice? I just want this to be over. I'm tired of this game these assholes are playing. I have to face him. "Take me to him." I said quietly.
I followed close behind Felix as we walked. I could never remember the way back, even if I tried. So many turns. It's like a maze, unreal. Torchic lay on my shoulder, resting. An eerie mist covered the ground, making it difficult to see where I am stepping. "Don't speak out of turn. It won't end well. Keep quiet and try to be respectful. I know that's hard for you just, control yourself." He warned. I scoffed. Yeah, I'm going to be respectful to the people who took part in killing my mom and ruining my life.
We walked up to a large gray building, which looked familiar. I can't just barely remember its look from the time I left after that stupid experiment on my rib. Two grunts stood guard on either side of the large black doors. Felix and I approached them. Both nodded to Felix, giving me a somewhat pervy look. Most likely because I'm wearing a colorful bra and a white wet tank top. Thanks a lot rain. A cold shiver ran down my spine as we entered the long hallway. Felix lead me through winding hallways, into a large marble room. A large man stood in the middle, talking to a few grunts. Felix and I approached him. "Where is Grant?" Felix asked. The man looked up to us.
"Well, well, well, Felix. I see you've finally brought our guest. I remember asking to see her many weeks ago." The man smiled. It sent chills down my arms. This guy is a creep.
Felix cleared his throat. "With all due respect sir, Grant has resumed his position and is in charge, therefore anything decided by you was revoked. And I don't think Grant would appreciate you antagonizing his daughter." The man seemed to consider this.
"Grant should be back soon. He went on a scouting mission a few hours ago with a small group. One you should have attended." The man countered. This guy has a sarcasm problem. It's rather annoying. He obviously has no power and that makes him mad. Felix opened his mouth to talk when the door slammed open.
Loud laughter filled the room but died quickly. I breathed in sharply, turning around slowly. The monster that I had escaped. The monster who killed my mother and destroyed my life stands only a few long feet away from me. He stared at me in shock. My knees went weak, the scars on my back tingling. He began to walk to me and Felix. "Good to have you back General. I was just conversing with your daughter." The man behind me chipped in.
Grant stopped a few inches in front of me. The monster who beat me. Who made my mother's life miserable. He is no person. I curled my hands into fists. I'll kill him. I flung my fist to his face. Grant caught it, continuing to stare at me. "Everyone, leave us. Stay Felix." The room cleared out immediately. I yanked my hand away from his cold calloused hand. "My little girl. You've grown to be a beautiful young woman." He tried to hug me.
I backed away quickly, Torchic growling at him. "I'm not you little girl." I spat, my blood boiling. "Why the hell won't you leave me alone. Tell your fucking 'team' to stay away from the Ranger School and tell your son to keep away from me. He nearly killed an innocent person today."
"Under my orders." He stated calmly.
I scoffed loudly. "No surprise there! So what's your deal, huh? Kill mom and use me to take over the universe? Is that how you plan on going about things? Cause if that's your plan, allowing your scientists to experiment on me, and sending those Pokemon after me was a big fucking mistake. You're a terrible father. And I guess you're a terrible leader, too." His hand whipped across my face. My cheek stung terribly but I didn't falter. I glared right up at him, holding my cheek. "My life is miserable because of you. You took away Mom. She was my only friend in this fucked up world and you took her away from me!" I screamed.
"You don't understand. It had to be done. Your gift is too important to over look and we need you on this team." Grant reasoned. I shook my head, refusing. "I have a proposition for you, Summer. I'll let you leave here today. Decide what you will do, join the team on your own free will, or don't. I shall warn you though. The longer you aren't on this team, the more accidents might happen. Not only to you, but to those around you. So figure out what's most important to you, Summer. The safety of others, or your own well being. The choice is yours my dear, think long and hard. Choose wisely."
Alrighty, hopefully everyone enjoyed. Till next time. -A
