Mudpaw turned to Falconpaw shocked. "What does he mean?"
Falconpaw shook his head. "I don't know…"
"Think Falconpaw," Thistlethorn meowed. "Do you think a brand new apprentice could kill a warrior, even if they had just become one?"
Does that mean?
"Falconpaw were you the one who…"
"…I'm sorry," The young gray tabby tom interrupted Mudpaw. "But yes, I was the one who killed Blueberry…"
"Falconpaw," Thistlethorn continued. "We share the same body; you and I are one and the same."
"That's impossible!" Mudpaw retorted. "There's no way two souls could share the same body!"
"Is that so?" Icegaze questioned. "Have you forgotten about Cinderheart?"
She is right. Mudpaw thought back to that time when they were listening to one of the elder's stories when they were kits, Pipwhisker had told them a story about Cinderheart and how she was a reincarnation of the former Thunderclan Medicine cat. Cinderpelt, whom had broke her leg in an accident as an apprentice and had no choice but to train as a Medicine cat; Cinderpelt had laid in Cinderheart's conscience.
"So that means Thistlethorn lies within my conscience," Falconpaw exclaimed.
"Now you understand," The dark tabby replied. "And I was the one would killed that mousebrain that you call Blueberry."
"So you used my body to kill him?" Falconpaw questioned growling.
"It's my body too," Thistlethorn retorted. "And if I want to kill a cat I will, in fact your anger brought me to kill him."
Falconpaw growled.
"I would be careful if I were you," Icegaze warned as she rubbed herself against Thistlethorn. "We don't want the clans to get suspicious. Hold off your urge to kill for now."
Falconpaw folded his ears back in anger.
"Let me introduce you two to the other apprentices," Icegaze meowed as she headed deeper into the Dark Forest along with Thistlethorn.
Falconpaw and Mudpaw followed behind.
"So you two picked out more apprentices to train," It was the Windclan deputy that meowed, Bagerclaw. "I just hope you know what you're doing."
"Who cares," A young black tom meowed. "Just as long as they're useful is what really matters."
"Darkpaw does have a point," A tortoise shell tom exclaimed.
"I wouldn't mind training with another apprentice," the ginger tom spoke up. "After all technically we're all apprentices here."
"You're okay with anything," Badgerclaw growled.
"These are the two new apprentices that would be training here," Icegaze spoke up as she points her tail to both Falconpaw and Mudpaw. "Falconpaw and Mudpaw of Riverclan."
"I'm Badgerclaw deputy of Windclan," the black and white tom introduced. "This here is Darkpaw, whom is also from Windclan."
"I can introduce myself," Darkpaw growled.
"Mottledclaw of Thunderclan," the tortoise shell introduced.
"I'm Flameclaw of Shadowclan," the ginger tom meowed. "I just became a warrior recently."
There is at least one cat from each clan.
"What's going on?" Falconpaw asked.
"You'll find out eventually," Thistlethorn answered. "For now, whenever you and your brother fall asleep you will both train with these fellow warriors."
"But there's no time for this now," Icegaze spoke up. "The sun is rising and we would have to wait until the next night."
Mudpaw and Falconpaw watched the other cats that came to the Dark Forest disappear and returned to the living, eventually Mudpaw and Falconpaw did the same.
"It's about time you two got up," Sunblaze meowed sternly as he poked his through the apprentice den. "Mudstrike wants you two to go with him on a border patrol."
Mudpaw got up and stretched as he let out a yawn. "Nearby Windclan?"
"Shadowclan," The golden tom corrected. "What makes you think Windclan?" We just went there for a border patrol a few sunrises ago and you got your fur in a knot over that light grey tabby apprentice, who didn't even do anything."
"No reason at all," Mudpaw retorted as his fur started bristling. "I was just taking a wild guess that's all."
"Then you should lie your fur done and come on if it just a wild guess," Sunblaze remarked.
The two young apprentices followed Sunblaze to the edge of the camp where Mudstrike and Otterstripe were waiting.
"Let's go," Mudstrike meowed as he led the patrol out of the camp.
"Mudpaw," Falconpaw whispered.
"What is it?" Mudpaw asked.
"…Well it's about Flameclaw," the gray tabby tom paused. "If we run into Flameclaw…wouldn't he recognize us?"
"You're right about that, he seemed pretty friendly for a Shadowclan so he'll probably start talking to us as if we're clan mates."
"I doubt he'll do that, I'm probably just worrying about it for nothing."
"I hope the two of you are paying attention while talking," Sunblaze interrupted. "We're almost to the border."
Once the patrol got to the border they began marking their territory.
"Intruder!" A young dark brown tabby tom hissed as he ran out to the patrol. "Leave Shadowclan territory or I'll make you."
The young tom began to unsheathe his claws.
"Sparrowpaw quit that!" A long haired black and golden she-cat called out. "They were on their own territory marking their borders just like we are, Sparrowpaw you're on Riverclan territory."
Sparrowpaw folded his ears back and went back to Shadowclan's side of the border.
The Shadowclan she-cat just sighed.
"New apprentice?" Sunblaze asked.
"Yes and he's a real pawful," the shadowclan she-cat replied.
"You'll get use to mentoring eventually, Canaryfeather," Sunblaze meowed. "Anyway we need to get going."
The four riverclan cats went ahead and marked their borders and went on.
Later that night, Ripplestar chose these cats to go to the gathering which were, Mudstrike, Meadowsong, Sunblaze, Otterstripe, Falconpaw, Mudpaw, and Dapplepaw. Riverclan had just arrived shortly after Windclan. It was only a short time before Thunderclan and Shadowclan arrived.
"I think I shall start things off," Duststar meowed. "Prey and water has been plentiful for Windclan. A new warrior has been born for our clan, Swiftscar is that new warrior."
"Swiftscar! Swiftscar!"
The dark brown tabby tom just nodded in response.
"Also Darkpaw and Quailpaw are now apprentices under the mentorship of Badgerclaw and Crowtalon.
"Darkpaw! Quailpaw! Darkpaw! Quailpaw!"
Mudpaw notice a light grey tabby she-cat lowering her head in embarrassment as the young black tom that Mudpaw had recognized from the Dark Forest simply had his eyes shut as if he were just admiring the other cats chanting.
It's that Windclan apprentice! A very low growl hardly irrupted from the young tom.
"Riverclan has been doing well also," Ripplestar meowed. "And just like Windclan, we as well have some new apprentices, Falconpaw, Mudpaw, and Briarpaw with Otterstripe, Sunblaze, and Shadelight as their mentors."
"Falconpaw! Mudpaw! Briarpaw! Falconpaw! Mudpaw! Briarpaw"
Falconpaw shrieked back while Mudpaw raised his head in pride.
"We also have a new medicine cat apprentice," the Riverclan leader continued. "Meadowsong if you may."
"Dapplepaw would be traveling to Moonpool with me during the next half moon," she mewed.
"Dapplepaw! Dapplepaw!"
Dapplepaw just blinked.
"Lastly Sunflower has given birth to Mudstrike's kits," Ripplestar meowed. "We are proud to have Maplekit and Marigoldkit as new members of our clan."
The other clan members came over to congratulate Sunflower and Mudstrike for the birth of their kits.
"Before I forget, Falconpaw's original mentor, Blueberry has been murdered by rouge. We are burden by the miss of a fellow clan member and hope he is doing well in Starclan. That will be all."
"Shadowclan has been doing well also," Hazelstar began. "First I would to thank Flameclaw and Squirrelfire for becoming warriors of Shadowclan."
"Flameclaw! Squirrelfire! Flameclaw! Squirrelfire!"
Flameclaw was about to open up his mouth and brag, but his former mentor, the deputy, Sandheart covered his mouth with his tail telling him it be quiet before he could even say anything. Squirrelfire just purred in amusement.
"Just like Sunflower of Riverclan, our kindhearted Flowertail has given birth to two lovely kits and Owlflight is the proud father of Lightningkit and Cloudkit."
Just like they did for Sunflower, the other clan cats congratulate Flowertail on her birth as well.
"We also have a new apprentice whose mentor is Canaryfeather and that apprentice is, Sparrowpaw."
"Sparrowpaw! Sparrowpaw!"
"It's your turn now, Russetstar."
"Prey and water is plentiful for Thunderclan," The light ginger tom meowed. "Tawnypaw is now an apprentice with Leafdew as her mentor, while Beepaw would be training under Pinewhisker to become a Medicine Cat."
"I will be taking Beepaw to Moonpool during the next half moon," Pinewhisker spoke up.
"Tawnypaw! Beepaw! Tawnypaw! Beepaw!"
"That will all."
"It's good to see you again," A she-cat meowed as she approached from behind Mudpaw.
That voice The dark brown and white tom turned around to see who it was. "It's you!" Mudpaw jumped back and arched his back up a bit.
The light grey she-cat just purred in amusement. "Weren't you listening to what the announcement earlier, my name's Quailpaw, not you."
"Whatever…"
"We should become friends. Don't you think so?"
"We can't be friends. We're both from different clans."
"Yes you can," Sunblaze exclaimed as he walked past the two.
Mudpaw turned his head over towards his mentor glaring at him with his ears folded back in annoyance.
"So?" Quailpaw asked tilting her head.
"I should get going," Mudpaw replied. "But I'll think about and give you my answer the next time we meet."
"I'll make sure to remember that. It was nice seeing you again, Mudpaw."
Sunblaze watched the Windclan apprentice leave the island with her clan and then turned to Mudpaw. "I think you should become friends with her. More importantly I think you should try befriending members of your own clan."
"What do you mean!?" Mudpaw's voice cracked. "I have friends!"
"Like who?"
Mudpaw locked down at his paws. "…Well…there's…" He shot his head back up. "Why are you even bringing this up!? I only just became an apprentice."
"Such a poor excuse. You litter mates had friends when they were still kits, like your brother, Falconpaw, he's friends with Soothepaw, and your sisters are friends with Soothepaw also and Whitepaw. Who do you got as a friend? No one."
"Like I even need friends, who is there for me to be friends with anyway!?"
"If you are patient enough you could try befriending Sunflower's kits when they're older, but for now I think you should at least try becoming friends with Basspaw."
"Basspaw!? But he's such a-
"He might seem rude and arrogant, but once you too become friends he may not be all that bad. He's pretty nice with his friend, Whitepaw."
I think the whole clan already knows the reason why.
"I hope you understand."
Mudpaw said nothing and just walked off.
