A knock to the rhythm of "shave and a haircut, two bits" broke my concentration.
"Come in, Nee-san." That specific knock was used by someone who would barge in if they weren't answered in roughly five seconds.
Looking up from my desk, instead of a certain sister of mine, a black-haired teenager with the odd strand standing upwards stood in the doorway.
"H-Hikigaya-kun? What are you doing h-here?" My voice shook, and the rolling chair I was seated in scooted backwards as my body instinctively retreated.
I was exposed, like a feline caught in the rain. I was currently wearing an oversized Pan-san shirt with sweatpants, along with a blanket draped over my shoulders. My hair was messily tied back in a pink scrunchie, and a pair of blue light blockers rested on my nose.
I wrapped myself in the blanket, attempting to cover up the shirt I was wearing.
"W-Wait, your sister didn't tell you I was coming?" He looked to his side, as though he was expecting someone to be there, only for him to look back at me with a perplexed and disgruntled expression.
"You trusted her?!"
"I-I thought your parents would tell you at least!"
My parents trusted Nee-san too much as well, it seems.
"Is now a bad time?" He began walking backwards, his steps clumsy. I wasn't the only one who was flustered, which was a comforting thought.
I took a deep breath before replying. "Just wait outside for a few minutes. I need to tend to some things."
He nodded and stepped into the hallway, closing the door behind him. Muffled shouting and feminine laughter leaked into the room.
I organized the multiple papers which were strewn atop my desk into stacks. Normally the papers would already be organized, but due to the workload and my health, I decided to maximize my rate of completion over organization. I carried the wooden stool which was used to retrieve books from the bookshelf closer to my desk, and I brought my chair back to its original position, though it was now facing the stool with the desk to its back.
I flipped my shirt inside out, tucking the tag inside, and folded the blue light blockers. Using the temples as a makeshift clip, I hung the blue light blockers from the hem of my shirt. My fingers ran through my hair, straightening it.
I took another breath and stepped closer to the door. The muffled voices became clearer, and I was able to make out the ensuing conversation.
"Hikigaya-kun, it was just a joke~ You don't have to be mad!" Footsteps sounded.
"Stop trying to link arms with me, woman!"
I opened the door to see Hikigaya using his book bag as a shield as Nee-san held her arms outward. Nee-san paused, and her arms returned to her side. Hikigaya still held his book bag in front of him, and a bead of sweat slowly slid down the side of his head.
"Oh, Yukino-chan! I borrowed your phone for a bit, here!" Nee-san reached into the pocket of her jeans and pulled out a blue phone, strikingly similar to my own.
My glare didn't seem to phase her as I took my phone back.
"Hikigaya-kun, you can come in." My gaze was still focused onto Nee-san.
"R-Right…" He walked into the room, leaving me and Nee-san alone in the doorway.
"Yukino-chan, you should change your password, it's way too easy to guess! By the way, what's with your shirt?"
"That doesn't concern you. Now leave."
"You want some alone time with Hikigaya-kun?"
A slight warmth spread across my face. "Leave."
"Alright, fine. Have fun with him!" Nee-san walked away, waving her hand back and forth as she walked.
My fingertips pressed against the temple of my head, and a exasperated sigh escaped my mouth.
