Together we raced down the familiar trail to my grandparents, the trees stretched into one long green blur as we flew past them, it felt great to run; it was peaceful. We had reached the halfway mark when she kicked again this time stronger, I stopped mid stride taking in the nudging against the palm of my hand, Jake stopped a few feet ahead of me his eyes were wide with fear. "Ness, what is it? Babe you ok? The baby is she…" I lifted my shirt just in time to see the tiny outline of a little hand pushing out from under my skin, I looked back up at his face as his mouth fell open then slowly came back together pushing back into a wide grin as he dropped to his knees and knelt down before my belly.

"Incredible…" the tone of his voice was different, lower and softer, he wasn't speaking to me he was talking to my belly "…this has got to be the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life…" As he spoke I began to feel a warm sensation coming from deep within followed a low wave of what felt like electricity flowing gently from the center of my womb to the tips of his long fingers as he traced the outline of her hand. I watched in amazement as she pushed back against him acknowledging his touch "…I love you so much little baby, my little baby." He whispered against my skin, his hand lay flat against hers. The current between the two grew stronger.

I imagine if this were a movie this would be the part where sparks flew out from between their touch. The camera would zoom in on their hands and a soft ballad would play in the back ground. A smile poked up from the corner of my lips, at the thought. "Whoa, can you feel that Ness or am I imagining it?" He spoke to me now but his eyes remained on her tiny little fingers as he stroked them. She shifted then reemerged this time her little foot appeared. I ran my fingers through his hair and enjoyed the beauty of this moment. She loved the feel of him, the warmth of her protector, her daddy. There was a magnetic pull between the two. Yes, it was hard to understand making it damn near impossible describe. "Wow just wow!" he mumbled again. If there was one thing I was sure of the connection between Jake and our baby was much stronger that the one Jake and I shared. The two had forged this secret bond between one another; it was something so powerful I couldn't help but a bit left out, which made me feel guilty. "She loves you Jacob, she knows you are her daddy and she already loves you so much, the energy between the two of you is powerful and so beautiful."

She seemed to dance and twirl around to the sound of his voice or the warmth of his skin; fully aware of his presence, she was excited by him and the attention. The connection between the two was powerful; magical even. It made me wonder, what if our sweet little baby was less like me and more like him. What if she were more human than supernatural?

This changed everything.
