10: Ambush

Shine had taken first watch, so I fell asleep early. I had another nightmare. This time, the spider wrapped its legs around me. I was so scared, and then I woke up. I heard footsteps, so did Shine.

"Who is it?" he whispered to me.

"I don't know."

Then, we saw Georgh, he was walking towards us. "Hey, I can see you. I don't want to kill you, I want to be allies."

"Prove it."

He lifted up his shirt to reveal a gash on his left side. "I'd love to dig my axe into Holly's face."

"Get in line."

"So, am I in, or…"

"No, I think you're good."

"Ok."

"Great, you take next watch."

Even though he was taking watch, I wanted to make sure he wasn't lying, so I pretended to sleep. After a while, he came to make sure I was sleeping. Then he went over to Shine. I grabbed my scythe to be ready, when he leaned down and kissed him. My jaw theoretically hit the floor, as I was lying down. I just turned around and actually fell asleep after that.

After a dreamless sleep, I woke up to heavy footfall. I jumped up and grabbed Georgh and Shine, who was on watch joined u. All of our gear was huddled behind a corner, so it was fine, except our weapons, which we held. I saw Olga, Ferr, Holly and Sparkle enter our cavern. Ferr saw us, and unsheathed his sword. The rest also grabbed their weapons. I jumped on Ferr, digging my scythe into his jaw and ripping it open. He crumpled to the ground, and there was cannon fire. Shine sent a knife into Olga's leg, but she took it out and dropped it. Georgh threw his axe into her face, while she was distracted by the knife. Sparkle and Holly retreated, and there was another cannon shot.

"We need to leave; they know we're here now." I said.

We hiked another two miles east, and I could just tell we were almost at the edge. We found a pit, and jumped in. It was a mildly long jump, but there were no broken bones, so we were ok. At night, through the opening, the faces of the dead tributes were shown again. Olga, Ferr and the girl from 8 were the only dead. I fell asleep, safe knowing that Georgh was now our ally.
