Opening
Maka: A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body.
Narrator: Welcome to Death Weapon Meister Academy. More commonly known as the DWMA. It stands as a defense against the forces of evil, which would plunge the world into chaos and drag humanity to the very depths of fear and madness.
The demons known as Kishin and their insatiable hunger for destruction. To ensure the Kishin never regain their hold on this world, this academy was founded by the Grim Reaper, Death himself.
Lord Death: So basically, we're an organization that exists to protect and preserve peace. I guess it's not exactly a typical school. Oh well, that isn't important. For now, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work!
End of Opening
Maka, Soul, Black Star, Kid, Tsubaki, Asuna, Tomi, Crona, Raganok, Liz, and Patti are in class. Mifune is teaching again.
Maka's Head: Interesting, Professor Stein is gone again. I wonder where he is? I hope he's all right…
Spirit walks in with a straight face and looks up at Maka apologetically
Spirit: Mifune sorry to interrupt but I need to borrow Maka, she probably won't be returning to class today…
Mifune: Alright, Maka, you can get the notes from another student after school
Maka: Yes
Maka gets up and starts to walk toward Spirit
Maka's Head: This idiot, if he took me out of class just to spend the day I'll kill him
Day Dream:
Spirit is staring, heart eyed, at Maka at an ice cream parlor
Day Dream End:
Maka's Head: Ugh! He's despicable
Maka walks up to Spirit with an annoyed look on her face. Spirit would not look at her
Spirit: Follow me
Maka sighed, rolled her eyes, and followed Spirit
Maka's Head: Where is this idiot taking me?!
Spirit led her to an old restaurant her mom used to take her to. Maka looked at it in a pain of remembrance
Maka: Why did you bring me here?…
Spirit: Maka there's something we need to talk about…
Maka looks at him scared
Maka: What?! What is it?! Is something wrong with mom?! Is she here?!
Spirit: Maka since your mom is a death scythe meister she still has procedures she has to follow. All the time she's been traveling she's had to send in weekly messages just to say she's ok…
Maka: Ok, so you guys have been stalking her?! That doesn't surprise me coming from you, you'll stock any pretty girl. But you don't deserve momma
Spirit: I am not the one stalking her! Death ordered her!
Maka: Ya sure, whatever you say
Spirit: Maka I'm being serious!...
Spirit grabs Maka's arm fiercely
Maka: Poppa… What's wrong with momma?...
Spirit: Momma hasn't written in the last three months, and none of our squat team can find her. Momma may be dead…
Opening Theme Song:
Spirit: Maka, I'm sorry!
Spirit tries to walk toward Maka, but she shakes her head in disbelief and pushes him away
Maka: No! You're lying Poppa! Tell me you're lying!
Spirit: I'm so sorry Maka…
Maka runs away leaving Spirit alone. Spirit let's out a tear as he watches her run
Spirit: Maka…
In Death's room with Sid
Death: Have we found anything on Medusa's whereabouts?
Stein: Nothing that makes sense… There is evidence of her soul lurking around, but they all point back to this room. It confuses me… None of her companions have shown their faces around here either
Death: Medusa is a tricky one; she has come back from the dead once, so maybe this time it won't be such a shocker!
Sid: Maybe… Have we found anything on Kami?
Death: There's more evidence that she's dead then not…
Sid: Where's Spirit?
Death: I believe he's telling Maka at the moment
Sid: Poor Maka…
Black Star, Kid, Liz, Patti, Asuna, Tomi, Tsubaki, Crona, Raganok, and Soul leave school
Tsubaki: Maka really did never come back; I wonder what's she doing?
Soul: Spirit probably took her out to spend the day with her; I can just imagine it now. Spirit is making Maka try on little pink girl dresses
Day Dream:
Maka looks annoyed while Spirit is holding up a pink dress happily
Day Dream End:
Black Star: Haha and they're eating at an old ice cream shop!
Black Star and Soul snicker with one and another. Liz looks towards the school
Liz: Both of you are wrong, look over there.
They turn toward the school and see Spirit depressed with his hands in his pockets walking inside DWMA
Black Star: Wow, Maka really gave him a hard time I guess…
Soul: I'll say, but that means I'll have to deal with a cranky Maka, ugh. I don't know how many more Maka-chops I can take
Tsubaki: I hope that is all
They continue walking to Soul's house and enter
Soul: Oi Maka we're here! Maka?
The all look around for a second
Kid: Seems like she isn't home
Liz: That's odd
Tsuabki: Maybe something happened between her and her dad. We should go look for her
Asuna: I agree, lets go
They all leave to look for Maka
Kid: I propose we split up to search more area faster, who knows where she could be
They all split up and yell Maka's name while looking for her. Tomi is walking through the forest while it starts to rain.
Tomi: It's getting dark and starting to rain…
Tomi sees Maka on her knees, head down, facing a tree
Tomi: Maka! You guys I found her!
Everyone runs over. Tsubaki and Soul fall onto the floor next to her. It starts to rain harder
Tsubaki: Maka what's wrong?!
Soul: Maka are you hurt?
Maka: No! Just… Leave me alone!
Soul: Maka common don't be like that, just tell us what's the matter, did your old man get to you that much?
Maka: I said leave me alone!
Maka tries to get up and walk away but Soul grabs her arm
Soul: Oi, Maka! What is with you!?
Maka: Let go Soul, you wouldn't understand!
Soul: Wouldn't understand what?! I know he gets under your skin, he gets under all our skin but that's nothing to cry over
Maka: It has nothing to do with him Soul, just leave me alone!
Soul: Then what Maka, what is it!?
Maka pushes away from Soul
Maka: My mom is gone Soul, my mom is…
Maka starts crying harder, Soul takes a step toward her
Soul: Maka…
Maka runs away
Soul: Maka!
Soul is about to run after Maka when Black Star stops him
Black Star: Let me handle this
Black Star runs after her
Black Star: Maka stop!
Maka trips in mud and falls. Black Star catches up
Black Star: Few, when you wanna get away from someone, you really fly, you could almost catch up to me, if I was going easy on you!
Maka: Just leave; you wouldn't understand either. I don't want you here; go away!
Black Star looks at the tree she fell next to in remembrance
Black Star: I remember that tree…
Maka's eyes widen and she tears up even more
Black Star: We met there, do you remember?...
Flashback:
Little Maka is sitting at that tree and little Black Star is walking by and notices her
Black Star: Hey! You're that little girl that always watches me! What are you doing here?!
Maka looks up from here book star struck
Maka: M-me?
Black Star: No, I'm talking to the sky! Yes, you!
Maka: This is the last place I last saw my mother, so I like coming here
Black Star: What happened. Did Lord Death scare her off?
Maka: As if! My mom is a Death Scythe Meister! She'll be back soon, and when she does, she'll teach me how to be a meister, and I'll be the best meister in DWMA!
Black Star: Ya right! Not if I get there first!
Maka stands up and holds out her hand
Maka: First meister to create a Death Scythe wins?
Black Star shakes her hand
Black Star: Deal.
Maka starts to leave; she turns back
Maka: Race ya to the top!
Black Star: Don't start crying when I become a God and your still a weakling!
Maka: Alright! First one to the entrance of DWMA wins!
Maka starts running and Black Star is behind her
Black Star: No fair! You got a head start!
They laugh and continue running
Flashback ends:
Black Star: That was a long time ago… You never did stop loving your mom
Black Star sits next to her
Black Star: Although I wasn't close with my family like you were, I do know what its like to loose a mom. I was just born when my father killed her, but she was my mom. And I used to wonder what life would be like with her around. You're lucky to have your dad though. Even though he's a crazy old man, he's still your dad right?
Maka gives Black Star a hint of a smile
Maka: Thanks Black Star…
Black Star: Soul common out!
Maka: Soul!...
Maka turns around and sees Soul leaning on a tree; she looks at him apologetically
Soul: Common, lets get out of here its freezing
Black Star jumps up
Black Star: Yahoo! Nothing a GOD can't handle!
They three walk to Maka's house. When they enter they see everyone in the living room
Tsubaki: Hey Maka hope you're feeling ok, we wouldn't want you to catch a cold so I made some soup
Tsubaki hands them towels
Maka: Thank you so much Tsubaki
Everyone sits around enjoying soup in blankets. Everyone is leaving and Black Star turns to Maka before he leaves
Black Star: I haven't forgotten our deal
Maka: First one to the top!
Blak Star: Yah haha! You know what sucks! You were almost there then you lost them all! HAHHAHAHAHA!
Maka: UGH! MAKA-CHOP!
Black Star: Ow! My head…
They all leave; Maka and Soul are in the living room
Soul: I'm sorry about your mom, if I'd known I'd-…
Maka: It's alright Soul, there's nothing you could have done…
Soul: The good thing is, she'll turn up soon! If she's like you she's bound to keep fighting, she's gonna be alright
Maka: Thanks Soul
Maka walks into her room and looks at her mom's postcard. She lets out a tear and looks at the stars
Maka: I'll be brave for you mom…
