Turf Wars Chapter 10- Weekend Trip

Sorry I didn't update for so long, it was a long week, but I'm relatively free this weekend so I might be able to get a couple chapters up, but I promise nothing. This was supposed to be posted last night but Fanfiction was letting my log in. Sorry bout that.

Anyway, enjoy the chapter.

The intercom system screeched causing everyone to flinch. All heads turned toward the intercoms in the rooms as the principle's voice became clear.

"Good afternoon students, faculty, this is Markarov speaking. I know that classes are almost over, but before you all leave for the day, there are some students I would like to see in my office at the end of the day. I sent the list out as an email to all the teachers, so teachers, at the end of your class, if you have a student in your class on the list, please tell them. Thank you all." The intercom screeched again before the slight electrical buzzing sound it made died out.

"I don't like this," Lisanna murmured.

Natsu who sat in front of her nodded his head in agreement.

It was one of the rare days that the weather was atrocious outside, so the gym class was stuck inside, in one of the classrooms watching a movie. They could've been in the gym playing basketball or something, but for some reason, Laxus decided to just let them watch a movie. Most of the class had guessed why though.

The tall blonde's slight snores could be heard during the quiet parts of the movie and a slight stench of alcohol covered him.

"Why did he even come to work today if he has a hangover?" Natsu asked quietly. Even though he was hung over and asleep, he would easily wake and slap a detention form on your desk. Jet and Droy learned that lesson quick after being a little too loud with their pickup lines directed toward Levy.

"Whatcha willing to bet our name is on the list?" Gajeel said from beside Natsu, his feet kicked up on his desktop and his hands folded behind his head as he leaned back in his chair.

Lisanna turned her head back toward the projector screen at the front of the class, not wanting to think about it right now. But no matter how hard she tried to focus on the movie, her mind kept drifting. It would shoot from the principal's message to the other day when Natsu comforted her. She hadn't told Sting about it and she felt a little guilty, but she didn't know what to do. She glanced over at her boyfriend, his blonde hair covering his eyes because he didn't have time to put gel in it this morning. He seemed focused on the movie. She shifted her gaze to Natsu. His pink hair bounced when he moved his head. He rested his chin on his arms as he watched the movie. The silver haired girl couldn't see his face, but she had a hunch that he wasn't interested in the movie either. No one seemed to be.

Lisanna let out a sigh before closing her eyes and laying her head down.

"Come on Lis, we gotta go," Sting said, gently shaking his girlfriend awake. "Everyone in the class had their name on the list," he said, grabbing her book bag for her as she blinked the sleep out of her eyes. "Did you have a nice dream?" he teased seeing the dazed look in her eyes.

"Something like that," she grumbled, taking her book bag and slipping it on.

Lisanna couldn't look Sting in the face, not after her just having a dream where she was dating Natsu. So she focused her gaze on the floor as she followed the group of students toward the principal's office.

It was a tight squeeze for all the students in the small office, but once everyone was in and the door closed, the principal spoke.

"As I'm sure you all know, it's Friday. I have no idea what your plans are for the weekend, but cancel them. You all are going on a trip this weekend."

"What? Where?" Elfman said, a confused look on his face which had been adopted by most of the students.

"The school owns an island not too far from here that we use every now and then for classes," the old man answered calmly. "This weekend, you all are going to spend time on the island together. For now, go home and pack a bag for Saturday and Sunday. Tomorrow morning at eight, I want all of you to meet me at the pier. On the boat ride to the island, I will explain everything," he finished.

"You don't expect us to go along with this without more info, do ya?" Cobra called, stepping forward.

A glare from the principal more or less silenced him. "Yes, because it is mandatory. Unless you all want to be held back a year." The murmurs and mumbles stopped as the students all looked at the principal with wide eyes. "You all are dismissed."

The students waited a second longer before shuffling out of the room. Once the door closed behind them, conversations erupted.

"What the hell is going on?" was the main question everyone asked at least once. Various answers were thrown about, but they were all just guesses. Lisanna kept her head down and headed home, leaving everyone behind.

Sting watched her go, a pained look on his face. Something was wrong.

By eight o five the next morning, every student whose name was on the list had gathered on the dock, looking up at the large boat that was going to take them to the island.

"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to get on the boat?" came Laxus's irritated voice as he appeared on the deck. The students looked up the angry blonde's face before shuffling onto the boat, gathering around the principal.

Lisanna noticed the small slips of paper sticking out of his pocket and started spinning off ideas as too what was going on.

"Now then, as I promised, here is the full explanation," he said before clearing his throat. "You all will be paired with someone and given a word. Your goal is make it to the top of the mountain that is on the island. Laxus and I will be up there already. The island is full of obstacles that you all will have to navigate. The word you are given is what you all refuse to acknowledge. The only way to get to the top is to accept what it is you don't acknowledge, to realize that things are different. And trust me, we will be able to tell if you accepted this change."

He was met with a couple blank stares, whether it was because of the explanation or the fact it was still early, he didn't know. "For the team who gets to the top of the mountain first, you will an automatic A in your worst class at the end of the year."

The looks suddenly changed. Eager eyes met his. "Of course you all are motivated by that," he grumbled.

"Anyway, here are your partners and your word. When Laxus calls your name, come get the slip and then go stand by your partner." He pulled the paper slips out of his pocket and handed them to his grandson.

"Levy," he called and Levy walked up. She took the paper and cringed at the name. But she walked over to Gajeel, handing him the paper.

"Secrets, what the hell does that mean?"

"It means you two have secrets," Laxus said matter of factly which irritated Gajeel.

"Natsu," the blonde called, holding the paper out. Lisanna sucked in a small breath, she knew she would be his partner. Sure enough, he walked over to her and handed her the paper. "Teamwork," she said, looking at the paper.

"Gray." Gray took the paper and grumbled before walking over to Juvia. "Denial. What?" Gray said, scratching the back of his head.

"Juvia is also confused."

"Well educate yourselves quickly, we are almost at the island. And the second everyone is off the boat, the challenge begins," Laxus said before calling out the next name. "Wendy."

The small girl took the paper and gulped. She walked over to Cana and gave her the paper. Cana looked down at in. "Respect."

"Sting." The blonde walked over and read the word, as he walked over to Rouge. "Change."

"Elfman." The muscular teen walked over and took the paper, scoffing at the word. "I'm a man, I don't have fears."

"Everyone has fears," the principal said.

Elfman looked at the old man but said nothing back and walked over toward Lucy, handing her the paper.

"Cobra. Because of the odd number of people you have two partners but still one word." The red head walked over and snatched the paper, already knowing who his partners were since they were the last ones left. He stomped over toward Jet and Droy, handing them the paper without having looked at it.

"Acceptance," Jet said.

"Even though you share the same word, it may mean different things for each of you, keep that in mind. But some, like Teamwork, are more straightforward than ones like, Acceptance," Markarov said.

"Before we land, we have two extra people joining us," Laxus said, waving the last piece of paper in his hand for all to see.

Faces paled as two voices were suddenly heard.

"Shit," Natsu and Lisanna murmured simultaneously.

"Ladies, come join us for a moment," the old man said.

Two ladies walked out onto the deck of the boat, one silver haired and one red haired. Mira walked over toward Laxus, taking the slip. "Traditions," she said in her sing song voice before tossing the paper toward Erza.

"Since you two already graduated high school, the reward for you, if you make it to the top first is different. I have a friend making a movie and he needs a lead woman to star in it," he said looking toward Mira, "and another friend, who is in need of a combat specialist to train recruits," he finished looking toward Erza.

Before anyone could protest, the boat rocked as it bumped up against the side of the dock. They were at the island. They all turned to look up at the top of the mountain.

"The second the last person gets off the boat, it begins," Laxus reiterated.
